I do like it. but I don't LOVE it. it is very difficult for me to pinpoint notes in this blend. it does kind of smell like candied perfume, like florals, like musk. it's nice, lovely, and at first I liked it very well. then, however, I realized that it was just way too perfumey for me. and THEN I got chaste moon, which was slightly perfumey but perfect for me. so, off to ebay the living flame goes, though I like it and I love the label. I think if this had been one of the first bottles I'd ordered, I would've loved it. since I already have more oils than I can wear, I'm learning to be more choosey, and knew someone else would just love this one.

oh my. in the bottle (haven't worn it yet) this smells EXACTLY like vanilla yogurt I used to eat when I was little. I mean EXACTLY. more when I have a chance to try it (must... wash... off... dreaded... anne... bonny... ugh!) ETA: on, chaste moon is so, so yummy! everything people are saying and more. sweet, light, creamy, soft, pretty, floral... but not at all soapy or powdery or cloying. just, lovely! I'm so glad to own it! I think I can even smell the milkiness to it...

mmmm, this is so nice! haven't worn it yet, but in the bottle it's great. love the sweetpea, and the sage keeps it from being quite as girly-sweet as, say, desdemona. can't wait to try it!

oh my GOODNESS this smells fantastic in the bottle! I can't wait to try it (but must, as moscow got to me first). ETA: this is fantastic. just so pretty. cheerful and delicate and sweet and springtime. love it!

this is really, really balanced on me - what a great blend! although I can sort of pick out different notes, they're fused together very well, so that I just have peeps of jasmine, tangerine ("gilded"?!), and very light musk and amber, and rose, etc etc. nothing is too harsh or pushy. nice!

very lovely in the bottle. I like the aquatic notes and the fainter lunar notes - it's kind of like lightening but much lighter. however, on me it does turn soapy (so much so that my boyfriend was like, "why do you smell like soap?"), and I get a hint of juniper (which I thought I would love, being such a gin fan, but which I can't stand on me). so, back to bayou for me!

I'm seconding (or thirding) rosalind, endymion, titania, and desdemona. yay! amsterdam and szesspassony are good ones too.

mmmm, this is what I wanted sugar cookie to be (to me sugar cookie smelled horrible, which is so weird as everyone else said it smelled just like a sugar cookie, and I LOVE those! oh well.)! creamy, vanilla-y, luscious, yummy baked goods with a teens of rum. a very very good holiday blend. my boyfriend told me I smelled like a cake. and "vanilla cream soda". all good things (to my mind).

This is the dead of winter, the year’s dark hibernation, the crystalline silence of the depths of the world’s darkness. It bears echoes of the time before time, of primordial gloom. This Moon harbors memories of man’s life before fire. this is a wonderful, much gentler version of all saint's on me. a touch of that buttery, incensey floral (possibly lily?) but with the same moon-y/ lunar flower and aquatic base. I love it! I don't get pine, though.

I just wanted to say - yes it does indeed! and what a great idea!

I like the dirtiness of it, and it truly does smell just like it's description, but I can't quite rock it myself. I do like smelling it, but I don't like wearing it. it does give me a buffy kind of thing going on though... (edited because I wanted to say, buffy wouldn't wear this, but she would encounter some dead guys who smelled like this... but I don't mean that in a bad way... does that make sense?)

it is funny, we all seem to be picking up very different notes very specifically. interesting, skin chemistry I suppose. in the bottle, I love this! I really like the uniqueness of the pepper with the tea and baked goods scents. yum! when I wear it, though, all I get is honey, which is nice, but not my favorite for me. I will keep the imp for sniffing whilst daydreaming though... is that dorky? there are scents I can't really wear but love to smell anyway...
-
this was one of the first scents I tried which I liked and wanted to get a bottle of (but didn't act fast enough before it was discontinued ). now I've ended up with two new imps of it and am kicking myself again that I don't have a 5ml - it seems kind of junipery and flowery on me but not too much of either. just nice and mellow and ... good smelling. nothing that will jump out and attack your nose, but a clean, gentle, everyday kind of smell. beth, can you bring this one back? pretty please?

The plant of peace in Norse tradition. If enemies met in the forest and came upon a sprig, they laid down their arms and observed a truce until the next sunrise. I love this one. spicy, green, smells very familiar but I just can't place it... luckily this is one of the few scents my boyfriend really loves, so lots of kisses for me!

I think I already reviewed this one but I just wanted to come back to it and say I really, really love this one. soooo yummy.

mmmm, yum! it smells a lot like both ice queen and blue moon and yet it's its own thing too. sweet and light, I like it very well!! ADDED Feb. 3: damn. I really love this in the bottle. I still hold that it is a wonderful combination of blue moon and ice queen.. mmmmm.... however, on my skin is quite a different story; there it just brings up all possible lotus-y scent and makes me feel cloyed (is that a word?). I don't know what it is with me and lotus; I want to love it but it always comes out, making me feel so sweet it's sick. happened big time with ophelia too... and I kept on trying... but finally couldn't take it. very sad. so, off to ebay this one goes...
-
I also smell the sassafras/ root beer scent, but more than that, a note of opium/ laudanum... narcotics! which I like to wear, actually anyway, it's sort of a sweet incensey scent with a bit of sandalwood or something. I do like it but prefer laudanum (which I'd recommend if you like this one). very nice though!
-
mmmm, so good! it's definitely greenish, smells like clean cool air and apples a bit. I understand what people are saying about not getting the "rose" scent but to me it's just a different kind of rose than what we're typically used to in perfumes. it's definitely the smell of a rose bush, with a lighter scented bud but the whole green lovely flower in there too. I only wish it lasted longer on me. yum!

I hate to say it, but I was disappointed as well. it smells a lot like dana o'shee to me, both in the bottle and on, which I was also REALLY prepared to love but didn't. both make me feel like a barbie doll I guess it's that same kind of super sweet almost plastic smell scylla's talking about. when I wore it I was like, yeah, this could be alright. but why go for just alright when I've got dozens of gorgeous scents to wear now! and someone else would LOVE to have snow white! so I put it up on ebay and am hoping it gets a much better home.

I was very skeptical of this one: boring name, blandish smelling in the bottle. when I smell it in the bottle it's kind of, "oh better take my herbal voodoo medicine". but I wanted quick thinking and success today! so I gave it a shot. the moment it hits my skin it turns into a lovely version of good earth's cinnamon tea. which I don't like to drink, but do like to smell like. as for the success/ creativity/ open to change thing... hard to say. today I woke feeling very out of it and headachey, and was pleased that the headache didn't develop into a wicked migraine-type one later in the day... I did work and dealt with some sticky situations and stuff... so maybe on a small scale I was successful. I'm waiting for the thousands to pour in though! still, I didn't think I'd like this one, and now it's on my big bottle wishlist. that's why the lab includes the freebies, eh?

ooooooh! I'm loving this and want MORE! I'd been very wary of all the "sugar" scents, it seemed a little too weird to wear sugar. this oil felt a bit sticky at first but once on it's heavenly! I really love it!

A commanding, dominant oil that increases sexual magnetism, creates an intense and irresistible air of attraction, and amplifies potency. mmmmmmm. I put this on straight out of the shower, not realizing there's cinnamon in it (whoops) so now I'm a little hive-y: but this is the first one that's made me get all itchy and not even care as it's SO worth it! most of the BPAL jasmines I haven't gotten too into, which is weird because normally I really love jasmine. they've been a bit too sweet or just straight ahead floral. this scent is EXACTLY the smell of my first (and very goth) boyfriend's jasmine incense from when we used to make out for hours in his all black bedroom... sigh. so it's very nostalgic for me, but maybe that's not entirely a good thing (don't know how my partner would feel about that ). anyway, it brings back good memories. very jasminey-cinnamony-a bit musky-ambery-incensey-smoky goodness! love it!

not sure about this one yet. buttery, almost caramel popcorny in the bottle. once I put it on it was very "perfumey" at first, then quickly became a bit more gentle. soft but not too powdery, something familiar's there... I think the lily of the valley? kind of reminds me of a note in desdemona. anyway, I'm going to have to try it again to figure out if it's me or not... right now I'm just scratching my head... update! I put on just a teensy bit this morning and am loving it much better than when I slopped a bunch on. so I guess in moderation, this is lovely! in overindulgence mode, it's too much for me. now why didn't I think of that first?! EDIT: Copied the "update" part in from a separate post immediately following this one --Shollin

BPAL for headaches, pain, colds, seizures, sickness, illnesses...
jessamynit replied to Tesseljoan's topic in Recommendations
out of the ginger ones I've tried, I would HIGHLY recommend kumiho and sudha segara. they smell similarly (kumiho's a little fruitier or something) but both are very clean, not too "perfumey", and very gingery (and delicious!). good luck ladies! -
mmm... I was sad to see "tears" go but this is better! tears was a scent I liked to sniff, but not wear... dragon's tears I definitely enjoy on my body, not just in the bottle. I smell the salty tears, the fruity sweet dragon's blood, and... honeysuckle?! I don't know, but it's a great mixture. definitely recommend this one!
