Wolf Moon I received this in a swap with oceandessa. Thanks! In the bottle: It smelled so much like what I remembered from Hunter Moon that I had to check Hunter Moon again. It’s spicy and floral, and Hunter Moon is more fruity (apple). Wolf Moon also has an aquatic note that Hunter Moon doesn’t have, or at least that isn’t as strong in Hunter Moon. On me: Fresh, crisp, night air, with spice. In 20 minutes: More aquatic, but about the same, still has that spice in it. In 35 minutes: Just a faint hint of water. In 55 minutes: Completely gone. Overall: These light scents just don’t do it for me. Maybe my mom will like it.

Malediction I got this as a freebie in the order that arrived after I ordered it, but before the order with it came. Confusing, but the deal is that I have two imps - one that came as a freebie while the other was on its way. Preconceived notions: It sounded dark, sexy, mysterious, woodsy, spicy, and perhaps something for ritual use. It means “curse” in French, though, so I might not want to use it for that. In the vial: Strong vetiver, nothing but. On me: Very strong vetiver, almost minty, but not really - like hair that’s so black it looks blue - this is vetiver that’s so vetiver-ish that it seems minty. In 10 minutes: Incense. A definite resin blend: frankincense, myrrh, maybe even some dragon’s blood or amber. Plus, dark woods. Actually, this smells almost exactly the way dragon’s blood smoke smells like when the resin is burning on a charcoal (which is not very much like dragon’s blood oil - it’s smoky, spicy, thick, and not cherry-like or blood-like at all). In 30 minutes: It still smells like dragon’s blood. This is amazing! Overall: This will definitely be used in rituals, especially any that I have dragon’s blood burning. Or if I want the scent, but don’t want to burn it. I’m definitely considering getting a bottle of this.

House of Night In the vial: Faintly medicinal... Rosemary? Carnation? On me: Sweet, woah! Astringent, bitter, herbal. This is the poison scent I’ve been looking for! Sweet to lure the person in, to disarm them, to make them easy to fall, Herbal because the best poisons are green and alive, and Bitter, for the end. Not that I really want to poison anyone, but I love the romanticism around poisonings. In 20 minutes: We now add intoxicating and rapturous to the previous scents of sweet, herbal, and bitter. We get to seduce our victim before disarming him. In 35 minutes: Ooh, is that sandalwood? White musk? Vanilla? Tonka? Amber? It’s softening, it’s deeper, sweeter, very sophisiticated and classy. The perfect peaceful show after the deed. This woman will not be caught. In 45 minutes: It’s beginning to fade. I definitely think there’s either amber or sandalwood in this, because of the “incense” note I’m getting. Oh, this is exquisite. Overall: Mmm... *plots* Edited to add: I'm glad this wasn't like Samhain on me Samhain was strangely mostly rum, butter, and caramel on me, none of which I particularly like. It spilled all over me, and I couldn't stand it after that, because all three of those were amplified so strongly it nearly made me sick. Just smelling the bottle after that had me closing it, and smelling something else afterwards. I couldn't even try it a second time.

Umbra Preconceived notions: This sounds like something mysterious, sharp and earthy; possibly a good scent for rituals involving Darkness. In the vial: It smells just like Malediction to me, at first - vetiver, mostly. On me: Yes, very much like Malediction - there must be some vetiver in this. And like Malediction, it’s getting smoky and insensey... dragon’s blood, but also frankincense and maybe some myrrh (while Malediction was dragon’s blood). Note here that I’m talking about the way dragon’s blood smells when it’s burning, which is very different from the oil. Smokier, spicier, and darker, and it doesn’t have that cherry thing. I don’t think there’s any dragon’s blood oil either in this or in Malediction. But they both seem to have something that smells like dragon’s blood does when it’s being burnt on a charcoal. In 10 minutes: Incense. Sharp, smoky, deep, and dark. Wonderful! In 30 minutes: Still incense, but fading a bit. It’s really quite a generic incense smell. In 1 hour: The same. Overall: I love this. I’m definitely keeping the imp, and I may get a bottle.

Lampades I got this in a swap with HappyLoveJoy. Thanks! Preconceived notions: Cranberry fire In the vial: sweet and tart with a hint of spice On me: Cranberries. Sweet cranberries - like cranberry sauce at Thanksgiving. It’s becoming smoky, intense, biting, with a green under the surface of the sweetness. In 30 minutes: It’s very faint. Just faint cranberry juice. In 45 minutes: It’s faded to the point that it smells like cranberry jello water. Overall: Too sweet, too weak. I’ll be swapping this one. Too bad the initial scent with the incense and the biting greenness didn’t last.
-
Hemlock This was a gift from Rheliwen. Thanks! Preconceived notions: bright and poisonous In the vial: Green and herbal - very nice! On me: Mistletoe with rosemary and/or eucalyptus - they’re nearly impossible for me to tell apart, but eucalyptus is slightly cooler and mintier, while rosemary is slightly warmer and spicier... I think this is rosemary. In 5 minutes: It’s already different. It’s much lighter. I think I’m getting some lemon, perhaps, with less mistletoe/pine and more rosemary/eucalyptus. In 15 minutes: Now I’m getting some white musk, along with the citrus and greenery. This is really sexy - what Ice Queen could have been if she hadn’t been so sweet. In 30 minutes: About the same, but it’s becoming very faint. I have been sweating, though, so maybe that’s why it’s fading so fast. Overall: I really like this, but I’m going to try it again to see if it really fades that fast. If it does, I may need to pass it on.
-
Black Pearl Preconceived notions: It sounds languid, tropical, elegant, and sensual. In the vial: water and coconut On me: Violet, definitely, and some coconut, and some other flower. In 20 minutes: There’s some kind of fruit entering the picture. Fig? Plum? In 35 minutes: The fragrance as a whole is more subdued. It’s very exotic. I still get a violet, coconut, purple fruit, watery scent from this. In 55 minutes: About the same. It’s very relaxing. A great scent for a lazy day. And though it doesn’t smell like suntan lotion to me, I get the feeling of lying out under the sun, or sitting out in the sun. Sitting or lying. Definitely not doing anything. Perhaps drinking something like tea or a martini (though I’ve never personally had a martini). Overall: Definitely a keeper!
-
Casanova Preconceived notions: Even if the leather doesn't come out, I love all the other notes. Plus, the combination sounds very intriguing. In the vial: Take lavender, and add to it a little smokiness and a little sharpness. Then make it darker. On me: This is really nice. It is still very much like a single note. Lavender, but a darker lavender. The leather isn’t there, as far as I can tell, but I think it’s making the lavender spicier. And I guess the lemon might be what’s making it sharper. I’m not getting any of the other notes, though I can tell that this is very complex. It’s like these other notes are shadows moving around onstage, with the spotlight (leather and lemon) focused on the lavender. In 15 minutes: This has softened, but it’s still dark, and still predominantly lavender. I’m getting whiffs of the tonka, though - that’s what’s softening it. In 45 minutes: It’s fading into what I’d call a dusky, smoky, herbal blend, still strongly featuring lavender. I notice the leather, and the lemon, as well as the tonka. I don’t get any amber at all, nor have I the entire time wearing it. In 1 hour: Smells like, like, like.... old books. Kind of. It has this aged quality that old books have, and while I don’t actually smell the leather note, I do get an impression of an old leather jacket. But old books. Mmm... Overall: I love this. Just love it. I wish I got more of the amber, though. But the old books thing. If Miskatonic University doesn’t work on me (not sure about the whiskey in the Irish coffee part of the scent), this is a heavenly old book scent.

Ice Queen Preconceived notions: I do not remember the description, but I remember hoping for something like cranberries, evergreens, and vanilla... I remember that the description was close, but very different, and that I had a hard time choosing Ice Queen over Skadi. In the bottle: Sweet, fruity pine. On me: This is pine candy. Or really sweet fruit candy under a pine tree. This is really, really sweet. As in, really sweet! Cotton candy sweet. Sugar plums sweet. There’s pine in there, and fruit, but the overwhelming scent is just plain sweet. In 10 minutes: Okay, it’s calming down on the sweet a bit, but it’s still very sweet. But there’s more pine now. It’s a very unique scent. I’ve had it for several months now, and am only just now reviewing it, though I did try it at the time, and I remember liking it. I’m not so sure I like it as much anymore. I’ll give it some more time, but darn is it sweet. In 20 minutes: Now, I’m getting some more fruit, which, unfortunately, is making it sweeter again. Tart and sweet, with a hint of pine. But, yet, as I continue to type and sniff, I’m getting something like vanilla - something creamy and light, but somewhat smoky. It cannot compete with the teeth-hurting sweetness, but maybe in another 10 minutes or so, it will have morphed on to something not quite so painful. In 45 minutes: Nope. It’s not changing, just fading *sigh*. I think I may have to swap this one... It’s just too sweet. In 1 hour: It’s sweet, and pungent. The fruit is gone - just sweet pine, but sweet like candy. Overall: If you haven’t heard me say it yet, this is way too sweet for me. Edited to add: After reading several other reviews, I'm inclined to believe that mint is the note responsible for the insane sweetness. It's like those soft pastel mint things they put out for weddings and other gatherings. Pure sugar. And mint. With little breaths of pine and fruit coming in occasionally. It's still too sweet for me, but at least I know what's causing it. Edited again to say that I just read Red_Hot_Mama's review and it creeped me out to think about the story of the Ice Queen (she lures children away and teaches them to hate), but at the same time, this does explain the extreme sweetness of the scent. Beth, you're a genius! (but it's still too sweet for me )
-
Languor Preconceived notions: I don’t remember. I had to look up my impressions on the update thread (thanks again to VelvetSky for those!), but by then, they had changed to, “I probably shouldn't have ordered this - I forgot that narcissus and black poppy do weird things, and the rest of the notes are really light.” In the vial: Strong. Harsh. Medicinal, herbal, and somewhat burnt smelling. I like it! On me: Band-aid - that’s it. That’s what it smells like at first. Pink, rubbery, and... well, it smells like a Band-aid, with some smoke around it. Hmmm... I’m not sure if I like this. In 25 minutes: Okay, this is better now *grins*! Now we have dark, potent smoke! I know there aren’t any resins in this, but it has a resinous kind of scent to it with a definite smokiness. Now, why couldn’t Darkness smell more like this and less like chalk? I guess the poppy is a good addition. I don’t get any tuberose at all. It’s very unique, very dark and lovely. It smells very much like what I’d think Darkness would smell like: “smoky, sexy, mysterious”. Now, I just need to deal with the Band-aid prequel. In 45 minutes: It’s getting a little sweeter, but I wouldn’t call it sweet. Like the difference between bitter chocolate and 88% dark chocolate. I love this. In 1 hour 30 minutes: About the same. Overall: I really like this. I think the Band-Aid beginning is a worthy price for the end result, but I’m not sure I need a whole bottle of it. This is definitely what I wanted from Darkness, though, so we’ll see.

Incantation I got two imps of this for the price of one. Thanks, Beth! (I ordered one and got a free one in the same order) Preconceived notions: This sounds lovely - the vetiver and dark woods should make it “dark”, but the lemon will add brightness, and the sandalwood will give a kind of soothing quality. I think it fits the name quite nicely! In the vial: Spicy, herbal citrus smelling On me: Wow, this is incredibly fresh and light smelling, yet somehow secretive and secluded. There’s a wafting herbal, green, sharp note, but close to the skin, it’s all freshness and buoyancy. I can’t pick out any individual notes, except for vague feelings of herbs and citrus. It’s very mysterious and magical smelling. In 10 minutes: This seems spicier, somewhat, just as strong, and other than the spice note, about the same. In 20 minutes: Still about the same, although the “wrist” scent and the “wafting” scent are coming closer to each other - basically, the “wrist” scent is deepening, and becoming stronger and spicier. I love what the lemon is doing to the vetiver. And the woods - I think they are what is adding the “spice” I’m getting - it’s similar to the spice in lavender. There’s definitely some cedar. In 1 hour: Strangely, it’s still the same. I mean, exactly the same. And it hasn’t weakened any, either. No morphing, no fading, are you sure this is a Black Phoenix blend? Overall: This one’s a keeper. I’m not sure I’ll often be in the mood for it, but I really like it, AND I like the fact that it keeps its strength. Plus, it’s all woody, resiny, smoky, and magical.

Bastet This was a freebie from the lab. Thanks! Preconceived notions: I love all the ingredients, though I’m somewhat leery of the lotus. In the vial: a very lush, spicy, watery, amber scent. This is lovely. On me: It’s golden, yet smoky. Very silky. This *is* rather catlike, though I might not have noticed that without the name. This is lying in the sun and stretching langorously. I’d say the amber is the strongest not for me in this, and I’m happy to say I don’t get any lotus - I think that must be what gives it the “watery” feel. I definitely get the musk and spices though, as a back drop. In 30 minutes: This is still a very rich, luxurious, and golden scent. The musk is giving it a soft, furry, animal smell, but the amber is still the main note here. In 50 minutes: This is very much turning into a skin scent - but it’s still luxurious, golden, and soft. In several hours: Still smelling good! Overall: I think I need a big bottle of this! This is a basking in the sun scent, par excellence. And it has excellent staying power. Edited to add: I didn't catch any almond in this when I was reviewing it or any of the times I wore it before that, which is strange because I love almond...
-
Blood Kiss This was a freebie from the lab. Thanks! Preconceived notions: Sounds very sensual and intoxicating, but perhaps a little too sweet. In the vial: Yes. It smells like a lighter, wetter Centzon Totochtin. Juicy and sweet. On me: Seriously, this is like Centzon Totochtin without the chocolate and tobacco, but with a sharp edge that I think might be red musk or vetiver. It’s sweet and round with a bite. Lush red wine, sweet cherries, and pain. Within one minute the edge is stronger, and the sweetness is dying down a little. In 10 minutes: About the same. This is a wet, bright red scent. Delightfully sinful. In 30 minutes: Still about the same, though more subdued. Darker, rustier. In 45 minutes: Much sweeter now, I think the vanilla is coming out. It’s smoky, alluring, and slinky. In 1 hour: Still sweet smoke with a core of biting red. Overall: I love this. This is what I wanted from Lust. Edited to say: Thinking about the sex thread, this is wild, animalistic, biting sex.
-
Mistletoe Preconceived notions: I love mistletoe essential oil. Probably I shouldn’t have bought this because I already have some, but if it smells as good as that, I don’t mind having extra. In the bottle: Yep, that’s mistletoe alright. On me: Piney mistletoe, with maybe a hint of orange? No, just mistletoe. This review is going to be silly. For goodness sakes, it smells like mistletoe! But I wouldn’t let myself wear it until I reviewed it, so I guess this is more of just an exercise. I already know what mistletoe smells like, though, and I don’t know how to describe it. Well, it’s piney, and somewhat medicinal, definitely a dark green scent. It’s very distinctive. I love the way it smells. I have candles in it. It’s very lush and pointy-smelling. In 20 minutes: Quieter, but essentially the same scent. In 1 hour: Mostly gone. Overall: This is lovely mistletoe!
-
La belle dame sans merci This was part of my French order Preconceived notions: Unsure - dark floral, disdainful green, sounds interesting. In the vial: Oh wow - I love the way this smells. Darkly, seductively green with spice. I think there’s definitely some lavender in this, but what else, I don’t know. On me: Dark green floral. There are definitely a lot of flowers in this, sweet and sharp, but it’s shaded and green, mixed with an herb I know very well but can’t place. I still think there might be lavender, but I’m not sure. And rose. Definitely some rose here, of the wild type, and maybe some peony. We are definitely far from civilization. In 10 minutes: The herbs are hiding, I know it, because it still feels like we are way out in the forest somewhere on a path, and not in a well-manicured garden. Still, I can’t smell them directly anymore. It’s all flowers, mostly rose and peony, mixed with something I can only call “fresh air”. This is a very lovely, summer floral. In 15 minutes: Today I’ve been doing “market place” reviews: If Harlot is sashaying around the flowers by the spices, and Sudha Segara is testing oranges near the spices, La belle dame sans merci is standing right in the center of the flowers, almost hiding in them. It is shy and secretive, and very fresh. In 25 minutes: Still about the same, though it’s beginning to fade a little. Not a lot, though, it’s still pretty strong. In 1 hour: No change, other than the usual fading that occurs, but it’s still there. I’ll definitely keep the imp for a warm, summer, floral, but probably won’t get a bottle, since I like darker, more mysterious scents.
-
Sudha Segara I got this in a swap with amrita. Thanks! Preconceived notions: Sounds very sensual, with a drop of brightness. in the vial: I get a faint citrus (orange-like, not lemon-like) note paired with sharp ginger. on me: It’s mostly ginger on me, though there is that faint citrus note. I can tell that there’s more here, because it’s not as sharp as pure ginger, but it’s not really coming out from the background. In 15 minutes: It has softened somewhat, but I’d still consider this a bright scent, with the orange and ginger giving the main flavor. It’s another I’d consider as a “strolling through the market” scent, like Harlot, but here were over in the spice and fruit area, not the floral stand near the spices. It manages to be summery without being too sweet and fruity. In 30 minutes: Whoa, it’s gone. As in, completely gone. No, wait, maybe not. Ginger is still tickling the back of my throat as I sit here. I really like this, but I do wish it was stronger. Overall: As I don’t think this is getting any stronger, I figure I can sum it up now. I really like it, and I think I’ll keep the imp, even though I wish it was stronger. This is great for summer.
-
The Red Queen This was a freebie from the lab. Thanks! Preconceived notions: I like berries and cherry, but usually a pure fruit blend will be too sweet or tart for me. I love the thought of adding wood to give it more of a backbone. In the vial: A very tart cherry, but with hints of the sweetness in maraschino cherries. On me: Whoa, this is heady. It’s what I’d imagine of cherry wine. I want to drink it. Well, maybe not. The wood is coming out, making it a little bitter smelling. In a few seconds, it’s now going from predominantly cherry/berry to predominantly wood. The wood is now the main scent, with the cherry and berries giving it a roundness and a sweetness. As the name suggests, this is very regal. In 10 minutes: It’s beginning to blend more, as the wood softens. Cherry infused wood. I know it’s mahogany, but I can’t help but think of sandalwood. In 1 hour: Completely gone. Overall: I think I like this, but I want to try it again. I wish I could keep the cherry wine scent, too.
-
Eris This was a freebie from the lab. Thanks! Preconceived notions: Cacophony. I wasn’t sure I’d like it, also, because it sounded very bright. In the vial: Melon, maybe some cucumber - this is a very soft fruit smell - like in bananas, mangos, melon, cucumber - nothing tart like berries or citrus fruits. On me: Now, there’s some citrus mixed with the soft fruits. This is a very summery scent. In 10 minutes: I’m detecting maybe a very, very slight touch of white musk. It reminds me a lot of Haunted, actually, but in the “musky citrus” way, yet lighter. The “softening” part reminds me more of Fae, which is why I’m suspecting white musk. It’s making everything kind of fuzzy - not hazy or confused or out of focus, but literally, having fuzz all over it - like a tennis ball. It’s almost hard to smell - very close to the skin. In 30 minutes: Yep, quiet, serene, soft fruit. This is still only smellable when I put my nose to my wrist, and even then, it’s very faint. This is not what I’d expect from the Goddess of Discord. This is more a small child kind of scent - sleeping in a grassy, fruity yard and not playing or driving their parents nuts. It’s very innocent and fresh, but also quiet and soft. Pastel yellows and oranges. In 40 minutes: Shoot. I shouldn’t have done the dishes. The scent is completely gone. I think it was about to disappear anyway... Scents don’t tend to get *stronger* over time. Overall: Perhaps I should try it again, but I really think this is way too light and fruity for me. I will not be getting more of this, but I may keep the imp to try again, in case it gets darker at some point.
-
Marie This was a freebie from the lab. Thanks! Preconceived notions: I must have thought it would be too floral or something, because it never made it on to my wish list... But it’s odd, because just the other day, I was hoping to smell an oil with violet and rose. Here we go! In the vial: Fresh, watery violet. Very nice, but where’s the rose? On me Ah, there’s the rose. Yes, this is a dark, soft, deep rose, but wait - no, this might not work on me. This seems to be the same rose that’s in Black Widow and Wolf’s Bane, because it’s taking over and changing character - this a bitter, floral, antiseptic, powdery (in the sense of make-up powder), astringent rose. Sheesh. I wish my skin chemistry would behave better. It smelled lovely in the vial. In 10 minutes: The same. In 25 minutes: The make-up powder is taking over the rose. It’s less bitter, but much more artificial and fake-smelling. In 1 hour: Faint powder with bad artificial rose perfume. Overall: I hate my skin chemistry. This one’s going off to someone else. And yes, I’m sure it’s my skin, not the oil itself. This happened, as I said, with Wolf’s Bane, and most people got green and woody from that. Me? Bad, icky fake rose powder.

Your Best-Bet "Must Try" Enabling Scents
Witch's Dagger replied to magpiedee's topic in Recommendations
I'm thinking of this in terms of colors: Purple: Beth does amazing things with violet, lavender, plum, fig, etc. Nocturne, Casanova, Vicomte de Valmont, Villain, Intrigue... or: Burgundy: Something with wine or pomegranate in it: Blood Rose, Kali, maybe even Persephone, though that might be too rosy ----------- Red: This would depend on the person, could be a rose blend, like Harlot or a dragon's blood scent like Blood Amber or any of the Ars Draconis, or a fiery cinnamony scent. ----------- Dark brown/Black: Darker woods and resins, Centzon Totochtin (though this could also go in Burgundy), Cathedral, Black Annis, Czernobog, Black Forest ----------- Green: something herbal or piney, like Bewitched, Hemlock, from what I've heard Venom and Envy or Blue: Aquatics like Storm, Lightning, Tempest, Ulalume, etc. ---------- Creamy: Snake Oil, Sudha Segara, Dana O'Shee, Hecate, other almond/nut oils, other vanilla/foody scents or Golden: Those exotic ones you hear about: Morocco, O, Sherezade, anything with Amber or "exotic spices". Also, sandalwood and any of the Eastern incense scents like Namaste, Coiled Serpent, Sri Lanka, etc. ----------- Other: Something unique or complex, something with a name that might be significant to the person, perhaps something more simple - a pure floral or a pure fruity scent, maybe something with mint in it, or leather... For me, a good mix would be: Centzon Totochtin (it has the dragon's blood/wine thing without the rose) Harlot (very unique: cinnamon and rose) Czernobog ??? (There's a good green one I like, but I can't remember the name ) Jezebel (very nice amber) De Sade -
Check out any places that sell powdered incense. So far, I've only found it in one place. The company that made the kind I have makes various other kinds of powdered incense (Three Kings, Temple of the Winds, etc.) Ah, but looking at my package, I see they have a website: matchlessgifts.com Hope that helps! By the way, I also love amber blends. I haven't tried one that I feel is the "ultimate amber oil" yet, but I also haven't reviewed Brisingamen or Hetairae, both of which I remember having amber in it. Some that I've tried and loved are: Black rose (I can definitely tell there's some amber in here), O, La Petite Mort, Bastet, Jezebel, Blood Amber On a side note, I don't get much amber from Haunted, and I don't get lemon, either, though I do get citrus - on me, it's more of an orange than a lemon, though.

Death This was a gift from astrobabe! Thanks! Preconceived notions: Must be good, Penance likes it! In the vial: Yep, that smells fantastic. Incense, vetiver, some kind of pine. Lovely. On me: Wow. Just wow. This is powerful, beautiful, it is the scent of strong passions, insatiable need, and deepest darkness. It somehow captures that burnt wood smell after a fire has died out. Perfect for Death. I’m in awe and will likely need to get a bottle of this - it’s my favorite of all the Tarot oils I’ve tried (and the only one I haven’t at this point is the Chariot). There’s almost a nuttiness to it. In 10 minutes: Greyer, smokier, ghostlier. Sandalwood is coming to the forefront with its high spirituality and wafting smoke that seems of spirit. Behind it, the burnt wood, the sharp pang of the vetiver and perhaps cedar. In 30 minutes: Still about the same. The sandalwood, burnt wood, vetiver, and other scents I can’t identify make a very complex, intriguing, and intense scent, and one that clearly illustrates Death. In 1 hour: Still going strong, still quite beautiful. Overall: This is going on the short list of oils to get SOON!
-
Yemaya This is for the Yemaya circle swap - thanks for including me! Preconceived notions: none In the vial: Very complex - it reminds me of the sea, but also of dish soap, yet isn’t unpleasant. Very nice, actually, though much lighter than my usual likes. On me: Ooh, sweet flowers, salt, and spice. I think there may be lotus or gardenia in this - a faint bubblegum or fake watermelon smell is here, which I associate with those. It is well tempered, however, by the salt and spices. Not sure how she managed the salt... In 10 minutes: More flowers coming out, toning down the sweetness some more (but it’s still there). This is very gentle, very girly, to my mind (probably because of the bubble gum/watermelon candy), and yet sophisticated (the other flowers). Plus, there’s that intriguing salt still in there. A bouquet of flowers on the ocean... In 20 minutes: About the same, but the sweetness and the flowers have softened, making the salty aquatics blend in more fully. But that doesn’t seem right. It is impossible to truly describe this scent. In 40 minutes: About the same, but beginning to fade a little. In 1 hour: Almost completely gone. Overall: This is a very intriguing scent. If I had any connection to Yemaya, the Orisha, I would definitely be wishing for a bottle of this. Without that, I am content to pass it on - it is too light for my tastes and I’d never use up a whole bottle myself. Having an imp would be ideal, but I fear these will be in short supply. I’m truly grateful I had a chance to try this!

Graveyard Dirt This was a part of the Tarot swap - since I need to review all of them in a very short time, this will be a brief review. Also, since it is a decant, I do not know whether this is the Limited Edition or if it’s the Black Broom oil. Since they smell similarly enough that Beth gave them the same name, it shouldn’t affect my review, and I’m not attempting any rituals that would use Graveyard Dirt (especially since I can’t remember any offhand, though I do remember seeing some once). Preconceived notions: Earth and dirt, yay! In the vial: Wow. That is dirt. Rich, musky, living dirt. Wonderful. On me: It’s dirt! It’s really dirt! Oh, have I been wanting a scent like this! This is rich soil, decaying leaves, mushrooms, you know, DIRT! In 10 minutes: It’s still dirt! This is amazing! Overall: I’m really glad I got the Limited Edition (which hasn’t arrived yet). If not, I’d be begging for it on the Swaps Forum. This is spectacular. Oh, and I'll give an update on what I think of that when it arrives , in case it's different.
-
The World This was a part of the Tarot swap - since I need to review all of them in a very short time, this will be a brief review. In the vial: Fresh breezes, water, cinnamon, and herbs. And as others have said there’s a sense of Everything in this, a sense of quiet peace in nature. On me: The herbs come out very strongly on me: parsley, sage, eucalyptus, rosemary . . . it’s a very green scent, but in a quiet, peaceful way. It reminds me of drinking green tea quietly, while meditating, though I’m not sure if there’s any green tea note in it. There’s definitely lavender, with it’s particular kind of spice, and eucalyptus or rosemary, with its gentle, yet medicinal sharpness. And now, yes, there’s some cinnamon, which I caught earlier in the vial. It’s a very “whole” scent. I could see using it as a Circle blend. In 10 minutes: It now has more of a sweetly spicy mintiness added to the core scent, which still seems very earthy and herbal. The cinnamon is definitely stronger than before, but it’s an earthy cinnamon. Overall: Very complex and lovely. Some of the other Tarot oils are more me, though. I could see using this as a circle blend, though, so I may get a bottle sometime in the future.
