I was really excited to love this because I'm an apple addict, but it just smelled too much like candy. If it were just apple candy, it would be ok, but it really smells like grape candy on me. I'm not getting any of the subtlety or layers of the other reviewers.

I am not getting the vanilla note at all; on me the amber is the main note, especially when dry. It is similar on me to Autumn Overlooked My Knitting, but a bit warmer. I don't smell anything specific besides the amber and maybe musk, but I think the other things are what add the warmth and depth. I'm usually much more of a foodie lover, but this is quite pretty and I'll be keeping my imp.

The note in this that comes out the most to me is plum, although it isn't listed. There is also a bit of a general spiciness to it. I don't really get the custard, but it just smells like a nice, sweet, wintry plum dessert.

In the imp, it smells just like hot buttered rum. I have liked the other boozy scents I've tried (Captain lilith, Grog), but on the skin, the rum disappears and it almost smells like popcorn... not like movie popcorn, but maybe caramel corn? It's sweet and not unpleasant, but I definitely don't need more than an imp. On me, it lasts quite a while and has above-average throw.

For me, Avunculus was almost all honey, although I think honey and beeswax are notes I tend to amp, so YMMV. I also remember the Hanerot Halalu I tried (it must have been 2008 or so?) being all wax&honey on me.

This one is a pretty straightforward aquatic for me, and I'm not detecting as much of the complexity that everyone else noticed; I don't get "pink" at all. I thought it smelled a lot like Sea of Glass, so much so that I did a side by side comparison to see if I could tell the difference or if maybe I just have aquatic-blindness. They are different--Sea of Glass is a little sweeter, I think?--but I'm not an aquatic lover so I think I will let this one go.

This scent is so fresh and clean smelling. I think I get the laundry scent from it more than straight soap, but there's also a bit of a depth to it, at least in the bottle. At the end of the day, there is still a faint whiff on my wrists. This scent is just pleasant. It's simple, clean, basic, and unoppressive.

In bottle: Mostly pear Wet on skin: It immediately turns floral; I think it's mostly the Lily of the Valley I'm getting. I asked my husband to sniff it and he said it smelled nice and like flowers. When I told him there was pear, he was surprised because that had pretty much disappeared once it hit the skin. Drydown: It's still floral, but less heavy than it was when wet and I think I get a teensy bit of the pear (but that may just be wishful thinking). Verdict: It's pretty but the florals aren't really my thing. If the pear came out more strongly on my skin I think I would really like it.

You might also look into Pomona (Weenie from 2012). The apple in that one really comes out on me, and it is less "floral" on me than Sjofn. Snow, Glass, Apples was my perfect apple scent. I only had one decant, though, and lost it long ago so I've been trying every LE since then trying to find a replacement.

In bottle: Pure Apple. Like a juicy, red apple. Wet on skin: Still apple, but there's something else there. I asked the husband to smell it, and he said it was like potpourri or Pier One. I'm thinking that must be the mulberry? Dry: The berry comes out a little more. I'm not getting any of the nuts at all. I'm an apple fiend, so this one works really well on me. It's not as chilly as SGA and not as floral as Sjofn, and also not foody. Just apple-y goodness.

In the imp and wet on skin: Mostly sandalwood. I don't get any of the orange blossom that other people describe. Drydown: Still mostly just sandalwood on me, although I may be getting hints of the tonka bean. At the end of the day, I can barely smell anything on my shirt or skin. For me, this seems like a better room scent than a perfume and is the most masculine of the butterflies that I have tried.

In the imp, I get the fresh realistic orange that everyone else is describing, but as soon as it's on the skin, that changes. It smells very sweet, almost boozy on me. On drydown I get the hay but it's a very sweet, platonic ideal of hay. I've spent a lot of time in barns and on farms and it doesn't smell like a farm. It's sweet and pleasant. It doesn't last forever; later in the day I get just a faint smell of the hay note on my shirt.

In the imp and wet on the skin I get grapefruit--which I guess is the yuzu. It really reminds me of Night Gaunt in how citrusy it is. On me it dries and fades pretty quickly, but later in the day I still get a little trace of something--I think it's the cedar. If you like citrus I would say go for this. I think I was hoping the wood and thyme would be a bit stronger.

In the bottle: Equal parts white rose and honey. On me: almost exclusively honey. It had a pretty long wearlength, and the rose started to come out more at the end, but it was almost pure honey; I couldn't smell the creaminess at all. And while it smelled exactly like honey... it just wasn't for me. Guess I'll send this one to the swap pile.

On me, this smells just like jell-o. Specifically one of the "red" flavors. I like it a lot, and it has a great wearlength. After a while, the jell-o ness goes away a little bit, and then something a little less sugary comes out. I like it a lot, but I don't know yet how much I'll wear it.

I bought this scent instantly when it came out, because I loved the description. It's my favorite BPAL floral so far, but, like others have said, it doesn't last very long. On my skin, I mainly smelled the rose with just hints of the other flowers; the vanilla notes weren't very prominent and I couldn't detect the musks at all. The white tea note came out more on drydown. My husband and I both felt that this one smelled like baby, but not in a powdery way, just in a very fresh way. I really loved this scent.

My fiance bought this for me and after all of the reviews saying how foody it was, I thought it would be a disaster! However, it may just be my new favorite! In the bottle and on it smells about the same- slightly more citrus-y in the bottle than on my skin. On my skin the creaminess comes out a little more as well, along with the aroma that someone else described as "tropical." I would liken the creaminess to whatever is in Snow White that gives it a creamy scent-- I definitely would not describe this as "foody." I don't smell anything remotely herbal. After a few hours, the scent has mostly faded, but I can still pick out a few floral notes.

My friend is going as Crowley and I as Aziraphale, from Good Omens. However, the Great Sword of War is the closest thing I have to matching, so that's what I'll be wearing.

So the other day I was wearing this new outfit from the Gap, and I just felt like all my bpal was too... heavy, if that makes any sense. So I'm looking for somethign that smells... sheer and white. I usually like fruity things, but I feel like I would need a floral for this. Something that isn't overwhelming. The closest thing that I have is Alice, but it gets a little overpowering after it's been on a while. Thanks for the help.
