I love this one...very nice on me and the thing that puts it over to future big bottle purchase is that my DH actually said I smelled good while wearing it! He generally dislikes most perfumes I try. Anyway, this was one of the rare times (maybe three times, ever!) that he commented favorably on a scent. On me, it is fresh & bright.

I bought this without a critter on the last day it was available. Plain label, "biggerCritter". This was my first big bottle bought without testing the scent! I do like it a lot, thankfully.

This scent works very well for me. Wet, it was yucky (a yucky fresh, non-flowery scent - almost like BPAL aloe & lemon combo which smells awful on me) but quickly dried down to a beautiful, warm scent. Nothing at all like the wet stage. It is a combination of Snake Oil, flowers (rose a bit), vanilla, and a bit of sugar (maybe that is the musk). A slightly sweet floral incense...this would fit well in the Carnaval Diabolique collection - it has a Snake Pit aura about it on me. The final dry stage is quite faint and is mostly floral...I love this but am not sure about a big bottle since it doesn't last terribly long, however, most scents fade quickly on me so maybe I will end up with a 5 ml. Decisions, decisions! I won't waste any trying in a locket, though, since the wet stage was so bad.

This is really nice - sweet, incensy floral on me. It is very warm and not dry at all. I don't get any food notes although it gets sweeter as it dries. I have an '05 decant and tried it 5/07 so this must age very well! I love it! Does not disappear on my skin when mixed with some sweet almond oil. For me, a perfect scent for autumn so I will save this for then and hope it comes back in 2007. I would be very happy to have a version that sounds like the '04 - less sweetness in the dry down.

I like the scent of this in the imp...clean, fresh, & a bit lemony.
-
Morphs nicely on my skin - it is a warm, lightly-spiced light vanilla on me and did not get powdery. It did not morph in my silver locket, unfortunately; it retained a metallic/sharp note. Good to wear as a perfume but not for my locket.

All of the positive things in the above reviews hold for me. This is, indeed, "ridiculously good"! On my skin, the vanilla comes out over the lavender making the scent soft. It fades on my skin after about 1/2 hour. In my locket, the scent softened a bit from the wet stage, however, not nearly as much as on my skin. In the locket, the lavender stayed srtonger. I love it both ways & I did sleep better than usual last night - I wore some on my arms and also wore it in my locket to bed. I am wearing some today since I loved it so much last night. Such an unusual scent!

I love this one. Morphs nicely on my skin but fades quickly. Unfortunately, I can't try it in my scent locket since I used up what was left of my imp to make a soy wax tart. This was almost a full imp and the tart is very subtle - but gorgeous. I will use at least an imp if I make another tart (I used soy wax tarts from Country Light Candle online which are larger than the cheap ones I got from Michael's). I may try my Lampe Berger instead, though. This is a fantastic room scent & was the same as the final morphed scent on my skin. My kids loved it, too. If I ever get around to buying big bottles, I will buy one of these.

This morphed the same in my locket as on my skin to a wonderful scent. I don't care for vanilla, however I really couldn't detect it specifically in this. All the components just worked together nicely. It faded quickly on my skin but stayed strong in my locket. I even wore my locket to sleep and Dorian was still fragrant when I woke up. I liked it enough that I ordered the soap last week. ETA 3/22/07: I've changed my mind about vanilla...now that I've tried more BPAL, I find that I like the BPAL version of vanilla in quite a few scents - the vanilla works so well with other notes! This is good for me because my DH does not like most perfumes but he does like the ones with vanilla!

This is my first try with a bpal lily of the valley scent. Morphed the same in my scent locket as on my skin - wonderful, strong lily of the valley & lilac! Faded quickly on my skin but heavily scented in my locket all day long.

In my scent locket, this stayed sharp & astringent - nice scent but too sharp & very strong. I couldn't wear it for long, even though I wore it with the purpose of keeping me focused while working. It was distracting & I had to take it off. On my skin, however, this morphed into a beautiful floral and lasted for hours! I can't pick out notes well but I did smell some lavender - I loved it. Most bpal I've tried fades on my skin very quickly and this is the first one that did not. It did have a calming effect on me - I took an afternoon catnap while wearing it. Very different from the locket.

In my scent locket: smells like freshly cut green grass - I love it! It is like something I wore in junior high school in the '70's - I have no idea what it was. And it is similar to Jo Malone French Lime Blossom Cologne which I adored until finding bpal. Caliban smells more natural, though, which is why I like it better. On my skin, this fades very quickly and morphs into a faint, non-descript floral - nothing like in the locket. Interestingly, the Jo Malone Lime Blossom does not morph on my skin, but it has a sharpness that Caliban does not have...Caliban is nicer. I will wear this in my scent locket but not on my skin - very fresh, springtime scent.

Finding BPAL blends similar to Dior perfumes....

Thanks, Melenass! I guess I will have to research the Panacea descriptions here. No info on the bpal site so I have not considered these. Moxie from the Panaceas was recommended by several people in the rec. section of the forum here; I am considering including this imp set in my first order. -

dierne - are you thinking of Juliet? Samhain sounds like a good recommendation from your mother but I don't see it for sale. maribouquet - I found bpal because I was looking for Diorissimo! I wanted the perfume because cologne & EDT don't last on me. Several online stores had EDT but were expensive and several were out of stock (perfume was out of stock but I think it may be out of production, actually). I am going to try some of the suggestions from Olympia301 (thanks, Olympia301 ) and mabye Juliet. If you find a good Diorissimo, please post! I have yet to order my imps so I will be awhile in reporting back!
