I like this one. It's sweet (others have said "like honey", and I can definitely see the connection to a darker, more exotic flower honey), but not too demandingly so. I can't really pick out single notes. I've been wearing it for about 3 hours, and it's been good the whole time. I've been having a problem with the deeper musks like Fire of Love (and, to a lesser degree, Scherezade), and with the heavy florals like Shadow Witch Orchid - but this is lighter and more blended, and it's very nice!

I think I just don't like musk? Scherezade reminds me of Fire of Love, which I tried yesterday. It's not nearly as bad on me, but I won't be buying it, or trying it again.

I will admit from the start that I am biased against this one - not on principle, because I had no idea what it would be like (and it was a frimp), just that I have known people who have worn this or a similar scent, and I didn't like them. So, I put it on, and I'm all "ugh!" I didn't wash it off, because I wanted to give it a chance. But all day, I kept catching the throw (I only put it on one wrist, and then rubbed it into the other from there), and remembering that I hated how I smelled. And it lasted ALL DAY. It smelled ripe, fecund, like animal and sex. Which could be pretty sexy - if I liked it. I'm finding today that Scherezade is similar, too...but that's for a different review.

In the vial and going on - bordello parlor. Drying down/dry - being new to this, I didn't understand what people meant when they said it became "powdery". Now I think I know. I could almost taste the powder. When it was dry, it was ok - I didn't mind it. But I didnt love it. I put it on at a friend's house (from her imp) to go out. I put it not only on my wrists, but on my neck and in the crooks of my elbows. Throughout the night, it mellowed just fine - I didn't scrub it off, but I won't buy it. Then I got home, 5 or so hours later, I happened to catch a sniff of the crook of my elbows - and there it was, bordello parlor in full force. Wow. The rest of the areas I'd put it on were dry and mellow, but - wow. I scrubbed before bed, because I knew my boyfriend wouldn't like it - plus, I didn't want to wake up smelling it.

In the bottle - it's all about the rose. Wet - all rose. Sweet and wet rose, dewey and strong. But there's something else underneath - can't smell the leather, but there's *obviously* something under there. Drying down - more of a balance. Dry (and still, after 7 1/2 hours) - Much more balanced. The leather isn't exactly recognizable, but it's there, and it causes the usual sensory reaction that leather does. The rose is still sweet and wet and strong. It's funny - the throw is more leather than rose, but the up-close is more rose than leather. I really like it!!

This is my frist BPAL experience. I'm looking for a new scent or three , and I've heard fantastic things from tons of people about BPAL. I bought 12 imps to start (and receied 14! Thanks PBAL!), and my frist test is DeSade. I'm not feeling it. I can't really detect much leather, either - it's mostly smoke. But maybe that's because I'm around a lot of leather, a lot of the time? It doesn't smell like what I'm used to. It is mellowing as the day wears on - it's been 4 hours, though, and it's almost as strong as when it was first dry. I like the staying power. But it's still too smoke-y for me. I'm happily looking forward to trying the others!
