Orpheus smells almost exactly like the old recipe for Paloma Picasso on me. It's a dark smooth forestrial floral, not a sharp pink girly floral, but a seductive rich brown floral. It glides across the nose like satin. The myrrh definitely lends a warmth which the teak embraces whole-heartedly. The asphodel dallies in and out, weaving the breath of flowers without subjugating the rich woods. The cognac lends an intoxicating depth to the mix. A femme fatale from the 1920's wears this while on the prowl. Orpheus Charming the Animals holds true for me the entire time, from first application to 7+ hours later. It simply does not change, other than a teeny bit more mellow after the first 5 minutes. Orpheus has a medium throw, I can smell it about four inches from my wrist. I apply this a little lighter than some of the other BPAL perfumes, although not quite as lightly as Inutterable Horror. I ordered a bottle the day it came out and am absolutely thrilled that I did, 5/5 stars. One of my new favorites.

Looking for a BPAL that Resembles a Favorite Perfume

Oh man, I'm surprised nobody has called out Pele yet. It's pretty much perfect for what you're after. Muguet and Hawaiian white ginger enveloped by warm, damp tropical blooms. There's also Hi'iaka if you can find a bottle. Mai'a, hibiscus, white ginger, akala, na'u, Hawaiian moon flower, yellow ilima, pink lokelani, jewel orchid, and fringed orchid. -

These might work: Versailles Grand, courtly and robust: a glittering, golden scent that would do Louis XIV proud. Gilded red and gold citrus with amber, ruby roses, jasmine and orris root. Moscow A rich, bold blend of imperial rose, carnation, lush jasmine, lily of the valley, dark musk, amber, bergamot and gilded tangerine. Namaste This oil blend is a serene, soothing Indian blend, created to bring calm and joy to the heart and peace to the spirit. Sandalwood, jasmine, rose, patchouli, cedarwood and lemongrass. Personally, Moscow is one of my absolute favorites from BPAL. It starts off on me a little strange and overly floral, but then it settles down after about half an hour into something utterably amazing. ------------------- I ran across the strangest thing the other night. My Dad wears Ralph Lauren's Polo. He's been wearing it for decades. It's the only thing he wears. Last night I was testing Lawful/Evil from the RPGs. It started off a little fruity, but on the dry down it smelled exactly like Polo. To the letter. I have no idea what's happening there since Evil has things like tobacco and opium tar... but there you go. So weird. -
Well I had to layer Lawful Evil Dwarf since I used to play that all the time. Now, I can not stand Dwarf by itself on me. I have no idea what is, but something is just gut-wrenchingly awful in it and makes me immediately want to wash it off. So, I started off today applying Lawful which was very pleasantly floral. I really have to try Lawful Evil separate on another day. Then I layered Dwarf on it, and finally sandwiched it with Evil. I was so worried about this combo. I shouldn't have been. Lawful and Evil slap rules and chains on Dwarf and transform it from completely ghastly into the most expensive high-end men's cologne I have ever smelled. Seriously, if a guy was wearing this I would do them. I probably won't wear this often, since it is so very masculine to my nose, but I am thrilled at the metamorphosis of Dwarf into something I can actually use.

Looking for any Harry Potter scent recommendations
AernJardos replied to Trish's topic in Recommendations
Going off the descriptions and not having smelled them, I'd say The Book, The Gatekeeper, or Miskatonic University would be good fits for Ravenclaw. -
My imp of Fenris Wolf (arrived 05/13/2016) had a slice in the cap. When I remove the cap it cleaved off, leaving a ring around the neck of the imp. Fortunately I had a tiny glass bottle I could transfer most of it over to. I might swing into the craft store and pick up some extra tiny bottles in case any others show up damaged.

Who do I email with questions? BPAL/BPTP contact info
AernJardos replied to kebechet's topic in BPAL FAQs
Oh! So it's not just me. I have a Yahoo account and had a mail delivery failure. What was interesting was I attempted to write them through the Contact Us form on the website. It returned: <answers@blackphoenixalchemylab.com>: host smtp.mailchannels.net[54.244.222.11] said: 550 5.7.1 [bFD] Sender prohibited by SPF (in reply to end of DATA command) This was a couple of days ago. It wasn't an urgent issue, just a question that I later found the answer to so I figured no big deal. I am kind of curious about it since Yahoo was a pretty popular email client, once.
