Cave of Treasures now it's aged for a couple of months. This is sooooo lovely. A beautiful, super soft, creamy, slightly warm floral. It almost seems to disappear but then I realise I'm sitting here in a soft, soft sweet cloud. I feel like this the sort of throw that if you didn't know it was perfume you'd just think there were lovely flowers around making the world smell better. But instead it's me. I am the flower. This will be lovely in spring/summer and great for work. I also feel like it's a nice one for people who don't generally like florals just because it's so soft. It's sweet but in a really natural way. Gorgeous.

I'm reviewing this after about 5 months of aging. When I first got this I was one of the people whose nose read this as a gnarly, chewy and fruity tobacco, even though I know there's none in the blend. I liked it a lot but was a bit full on for an Australian summer. I just put it on again this morning and . A smoother but still chewy and deep turkish tobacco providing depth closer to the skin with this gorgeous classy, elegant, sweet, womanly rosy powdery smell over the top. Don't let the idea of powder put you off. It's like icing sugar! A suggestion of quality turkish delight without being foodie. Great throw and wear length as I did not put much on. It's one of those scents I came running to gush about because it's soooo good and I feel sad for anyone who doesn't get the smell that I do. Here's hoping it just keeps getting better though I can't really imagine it. It's gorgeously blended. Basically it's the perfect scent to wear with a white pants suit while taking over the world.

Mme. Moriarty, Misfortune Teller (2015)

I've never smelled the original version so no comparison possible. Ok I was one of the people who LOVED this when it was fresh. It was gorgeous and fruity and sweet with the red musk a supporting player and just a hint of patchouli. Then was disappointed after a few months of aging because the patchouli came and stomped all over everything. Aging for a year has made this magic again . The patchouli has smoothed out and receded a quite a bit, but provides the woody and slightly spicy base and the fruits and red musk have come back and sweetened the whole blend. It's really well blended too. It's still different to how it was when fresh but this is back to total love. It's also gone quite thick and syrupy in the bottle. Great throw and wear length - I have to be a bit careful of how much I put on. I'm not sure which reviewer said this is what they'd wear when they ride into battle but I agree! I feel powerful, sexy and playful when I wear it. Sort of a "of course you want me around you! I make the world better just by being here!" kind of feeling. A definite confidence boost. -
I placed an order this morning and got the usual two emails from paypal and the lab.

I don't know how helpful this will be since I don't know what nag champa smells like. But here is what MotM smells like to me - wet it has a blast of almost bubble gum and then that settles into an incense that is definitely sugared. Not an incense that happens to smell a bit sweet but like you have incense and then a layer of sugar on top. It also blends in really nicely with the blue musk. So in my mind if you made a big fat incense stick that was half blue musk, rolled it in sugar and then scattered a few blossoms around that would be MotM. I like it because it's sweet without being foodie, it's a bit unusual and I love blue musk so the whole thing smells a dusky blue to me. It's not my absolute fave of the Carnaval so far, but I do reach for it as a winter day scent, and I think it will make a nice summer night time scent when I want something a bit musky and dark but still suitable for hot weather.

I've only tried the 2016 version. I figured so many forumites can't be wrong so I blind bottled. And wow I'm so glad I listened to you guys! At first it's cocoa and lavender and they're very seperate. Then it settles and they blend together with the other notes seamlessly into this gorgeous smell that is basically a cuddle for my brain through my nose. I will definitely be getting a back up bottle or two.

I had to pick this one as my first review. There was something about the name and description that really hooked me. It was in my very first imp order a couple of months back and was the very first one I tried. And it's beautiful. A very calm ocean aquatic with white flowers initially and then something magical happened after a few minutes on my skin. It settled in and I knew it was a scent I'd smelled before. And then I realised it was a smell I'd only IMAGINED I'd smelled before. It was the scent of what was in my head during that scene in Voyage of the Dawn Treader. The bit where they were at the end of the world sailing through a perfectly calm ocean covered in gorgeous white flowers with the most wonderful fragrance and they are all perfectly happy. I haven't read that book in about 20 years and this scent brought that scene back to me so clearly. I always knew smell was tied to memory but I didn't realise that worked for imaginary smells too.
