For me, this is pretty much what it says on the tin. It's a deep body of water. I don't think it's as salty as the ocean is, but more like a large lake. It's still deep and dark, but it doesn't smell like brine. It reminds me more of algae and moss than seaweed. I like it a whole lot. I wish this is the scent that I actually ended up smelling like after a day in the aquarium.

    The Queen of Hearts

I needed this one to sit for a year before it worked for me. I love lily of the valley, but really dislike cherry. When I tried it on when it was new, it was like super powdery cherry fun dip. It was awful, but I love lilies so much I couldn't get rid of it. I'm glad I held on to it because I only get the barest suggestion of cherry and lots of lovely lilies. It's one a complete 180 and I'm thoroughly pleased I waited this out. Lily of the valley is probably one of my favorite notes and it's beautiful here.

    Queen

Hmmm. This is a bit of a puzzler for me. Queen isn't bad, but there's something holding me back from saying that I enjoy it. The wet stage is a hodgepodge of musk, honey, and herbal notes. It's hard to pick out anything specific except for the honey, which is the only thing I can put a pin in. After it dries it just really smells like honey. It's strong, but it turns to a very simple scent. I have other honeys that I enjoy, so I'll pass on this.

    Queen Alice

This is mostly wine for me with some treacle. It's very sweet and pretty boozy. It pretty much just smells like juicy wine and some hard cider. I'm not a big fan of smelling like wine, so this is a big pass for me.

    Progressus

Wow this is incredibly golden smelling. It's amber and cedar with a helping of saffron. It dries to also have some honey notes join in, and the cedar settles down a little. It all blends to be a very warm scent. It's perfect for winter and it oddly feels a bit hopeful. I'm not a massive fan of resins most of the time, but this is so incredibly beautiful. I'm very happy to have my imp.

    Ploutos

Honeyed leather and some patchouli here. It's very smooth and kind of cozy. All of the notes are very harmonious together and it feels almost seamless. I think the amber is just cradling everything else and keeping it close and snug. It's a great scent for cold days.

    The Pool of Tears

This is a very salty aquatic. I wish there was more to say about it, though. It wasn't more than just a salty aquatic for me and there are other similar scents that bring more to the table.

    Paysage

I knew there was tobacco in this, but I wasn't expecting it to be the most dominant note. The vanilla and plum are making it a little sweet. I'd definitely describe this as a fruity tobacco scent like you might get in a nice tobacconists. It's not too strong or overly smokey. I think it's just really pretty. I don't get much florals, but I think it's nice just as it is.

    Penny Dreadful

Earthy gingerbread pretty much sums it up for me. I wasn't really expecting a foodie scent from this, but that's exactly what it is. It's a bit sweet, a bit spicy, and a bit earthy. I don't really like baked good scents, so this is really not one for me.

    Port Royal

The spice in the spiced rum is really what comes out first. The salty wood and I think I get a little leather, but that might just be my nose playing tricks. When it dries, the spices have burned themselves out and it's mostly the sea air and wooden planks. There is a bit of a perfume quality to it now, so that's coming in. I think it's a great outdoorsy scent without just smelling like a forest.

    Pride

The rose here is very soft and supple, but the narcissus is a little sharp. I'm not a big fan of rose as it is, but the sharpness of the narcissus isn't doing me any favors. It's just not for me.

    Pele

I really enjoy it when scents can be tropical and not fruity. Not that I dislike fruit smells, but tropical blends can get way too sweet for me. This is ginger and sweet grass to my nose. I get very little floral notes and all of the greenery. I really love this scent, but I wish it were stronger. It hangs around for a while, but is barely there.

    Phantasm

Mmmm. It's like a lemony jasmine tea. It's a bright citrus that doesn't smell like I just cut some lemons. It's more like there's a twist in my drink. It doesn't really morph or change at all. It doesn't last as long as I was hoping maxing out at about 3 hours, but for me it's worth it. It's so pretty!

    Persephone

It's very simple. Pomegranate and rose is exactly what you get. It's like cutting open a pom and setting a rose next to it. There's a bit of bitterness from the rind that mingles with the sweeter juice and rose petals. It is very evenly balanced the whole time. The bitterness does tone down even further with wear, but it never really goes away completely. I really want to like it, because it is quite lovely, but I think there's a better pomegranate scent for me out there. Even though I think the rose compliments it well, I know that it isn't really for me.

    Morgause

For me, this is a strong jasmine and violet mix with a touch of purple fruits. I think there's some plum and maybe a touch of cherry included under that umbrella. It's sweet and almost bubblegummy on me. Kind of like the small batch floral gum you might see sometimes in specialty stores. This isn't bad, but it doesn't do much for me either. I'm not a massive fan of jasmine, and I'm not a fan of the sweetness.

I was wary about the vanilla because it doesn't often work for me, but this is a surprise win. It's a nice soft leather and a very clean musk. There is a smidge of vanilla, but it's not overwhelmingly sweet like it can go on me. The whole scent is very subtle and stays quite close. I'm very pleasantly surprised by it and it will be wonderful for days that requite a soft but steady scent.

    Plunder

It's almost like gingerbread. There are a lot of spices at play, but they do smell baked and cakey. I'd attribute that to the nutmeg, cinnamon, and clove mostly. It dries to a more subtle scent, though. I get some of the tea leaf, but there's also something artificial and it kind of reminds me of modeling clay. I really wanted to enjoy this scent, but it just doesn't work for me.

    Paramatman

It's an interesting scent. I get the orange blossom and champaca right out of the gate. It's not something that I usually enjoy. It's pretty, but it's not typical for me to reach for something where the primary scent is an incense. It isn't smoky so much as it's like the dry material waiting to be used. I think the orange blossom adds some nice sweetness overall, but on me it doesn't blend well with the champaca. They stay kind of separate so I'm not a big fan.

    Event Horizon

There's a beautiful floral opening for this one. It's a pretty orchid and it's a little smoky from the opium. It was sweet, but different enough to make it an interesting version of a traditional floral. The more it wears, though, the more the opium and labdanum dominate. It's much darker, and less floral. I wish that the orchids came back, because they were my favorite by far.

    Hearth

2017 version Woodsmoke, leather, and tobacco. It is really quite strong. It smells like a cozy sitting room on my arm. I love it, but it is a bit surreal. There are some cherry tones flickering in and out. The only real way I can tell is because it does get medicinal smelling at times. It's totally worth powering through, though. Once it settles down, it really is quite harmonious. I don't know how often I'd reach for it just to wear, but I could see putting it on just to read a book. As someone who was worried about the cherry, I think this works wonderfully.

    Cherophobia

Ginger oranges are the first things I smell here. There is some carnation adding some spice. It almost reminds me of clove, so it feels like a pomander, but with the distinct ginger zing added. Honey comes out more when dry making everything pretty darn sweet. I wish the ginger stayed as strong as when it was wet, because it was perfect. As it wears down, it loses a little bite. I'll enjoy what I have, but won't get any more.

    Eusapia

2017 version Lemony tea and lilacs for sure. I get oodles of tea and not a ton of lilac. It's delicate and beautiful. The lilacs actually smell very true to life, though they aren't the star here. They mostly breeze by just to remind you how beautiful they are. I can't wait for spring, because this is going to be absolutely perfect for it!

    A Hailstorm of Knitting-Needles

This is a perfect sugared cuppa. There's a twinge of mint that only appears on my skin. I don't get any of that in the bottle. It's almost like they used Frostbitten Dorian as a base and added woods to it. I really, really like this. I'm a knitter, so I had to have it anyway, but it is absolutely wonderful. Vanilla in general can overwhelm my nose, but here it's perfect. I think because it's the husk, it doesn't go too sweet or end up like baked goods. I'm going to need another bottle before it goes away.

    See How They Flash

It's not lilac on the bush like I'm looking for, but this is very pretty. Lilac and violets right in front here, with some tartness from the lime. It doesn't feel overly bitter like lime can sometimes do, but it just adds a little interest. It keeps it from going to a very traditional, stuffy floral. It's quite nice.

Mme. Moriarty, Misfortune Teller Hair Gloss

I really enjoyed the perfume oil, so i knew I had to get this. I'm so happy I did! It's not as fruity right out of the gate as with the oil. I actually thought it was a little smoky and musky. It lasted all day, which was great. As it wore on, it became more fruity which I was very happy about. I was never overwhelmed by the scent, which was a slight worry. It was unfounded, because it never got too strong at all. I'm very happy to have it in my collection. I think it will only get better with age.
