    Punkie Night

This is so cute!! A childlike hint of nostalgia, and late night festivities. Sweetness, reds, yellows, accompanied by the stars in the dark sky. An in-your-face cranberry accompanied by a softer apple and indeed, that lovely boozy note. ...Anyone got a smoothie recipe for this??? Oh my.

    Sherlock Holmes

I'm shook but I'm loving this. Clean, but not necessarily (or too) soapy, not the sort of soapy Watson has, and indeed grease paint or some sort of household cleaning stuff... how odd! And brilliant! That odd note is certainly chemical and it reminds me of something(s) I can't puzzle together but it's not nasty either. Definately reminds me of Brett's Holmes. There's dust, sweetness... a hint of wood and florals? It's a mess of notes and maybe it's just cause I'm exhausted right now and I can't pick too much apart from here, but this is a perfect homage to this beloved character (with apologies to sir Arthur Conan Doyle).

    Gáttaþefur

Lovely juicy apricot, oh how I haven't had that for years. This is so happy and sweet. I must admit I'm not getting much bread out of this, more a tarty type of tasty scent, but could be sugarbread. This is spending time in a cottage warmed by a big fire in a hearth, covered and comforted by blankets and pillows. I think there's a hint of the mandarin amber on me but it's faint. Not artificial on me. Lovely!

    The Coiled Serpent

A potent yogic oil that stimulates the kundalini, provokes spiritual awakening, and releases the energy seated in your root chakra. Soft but dry and masculine. Calming indeed. Reminds me of a dance studio with insence alight. A 'lil too herbal for me but i'm willing to be, this is exactly what you'd expect from this.

    Adam

Ugh. Ugh. This is sexy. I hate that I love this so much, hahah. So messy, a tad mysterious and dark. Oh man I'd love a bottle of this. I must admit funnel of love kinda smells like this to me, but that one's so much more pungent, this is softer, more dusty, less green. Definately has a bit of a cologne thing about it, but cologne Adam's put on five days ago. Masculine, unisex, badass. Beautiful.

    Boo

2009 Version - AHHGG nOOO spun sugar never amps on me (it fades) WHY. Ugh this smells so good but right at application it starts to fade away and I'm so upset about it lol. The cotton gives this a fuzzy happy dimension which for some strange reason reminds me of The wizard of Oz. And possibly the song Broad daylight. Smooth cream, so soft. It's nice but due to the fact that the sweetness of the spun sugar has gone makes it much less magical, as cute as it is.

    Blood Popsicle

I was expecting a more realistic blood scent but was suprised to find it more sweet, possibly (red) fruits and/or florals, and cinnamon indeed. It's sharp on drydown, only a hint of something metallic. It's odd, far, far away my brain is telling me it has the sharpness or saltiness from Mouse circus? Not bad at all, very interesting and a lil odd.

    Dia De Los Natitas

Oooh I like it a lot. It's soft and... nearing powdery, and it reminds me a bit of The ghastly garden! Warm, dark red shades paired with purple and strands of yellow/brown. Subtle, and pretty immersive to it's context.. The chocolate in here is to die for (so is the rose)!!!

    Gelt

A bounty of chocolate coins! Dry cocoa and golden amber! 2011 Version - Wet, this scares me. It's like if the cardboard from the cocoapuffs (mentioned/and borrowed from above) got soaked in milk and cocoapuffs. And the cardboard is laying on the floor. In a corner. Alone. The silver lining is that it definately goes more real-chocolate-y on me as it dries. Smooth. However I feel like there's some fruit in here? I'm possibly just confusing it with the amber (I mean yeah duh I am but it's what I'm getting from it) and unfortunately I hate chocolate + fruit. Pass! D:

    Moon of Horses

Oof, from the bottle it's a very sharp red wine. Really fun (and not a challenge) to pick out all the seperate notes out of here, but it does work together! This intrigued me the moment I went through all the BPAL scents due to all the lovely interesting notes. On drydown, the sharpness is a more herbal kind of sharp now, not too unpleasant now. It's anthracity leaning towards green... Certainly interesting but I'm unsure what to make of it. Unfortunately it's a bit soapy on me, a kind of dirt-soapy like lush's Devil's nightcap? But, more sweet I guess. It's nice, for sure, but I don't like it enough to keep. Glad to have tried it, finally!

    Samhain in the Pumpkin Patch

Oh wow now THIS is what the cheesy 90's halloween smells like!! I'm pleasantly surprised, but I had to give this a try, I LOVE Samhain but the lab's pumpkin note I'm never sure about, but here it's very in your face- but Samhain accompanies it very well. On my skin, it amps up the spices and apple at first, but after a good couple of minutes, Samhain starts to fade to the background a bit. I'm not sure if I'm bothered by it, seeing how the spices are not as in your face now anymore either. It's also giving me major themepark-on-halloween vibes, which is, a good thing in this case. Running through a corn maze at twilight. I haven't been a fan of any "tarty" scents of BPAL so far but this is something I'd sink my teeth in. Mmmm. Happyhappyhappy scent. So warm and fuzzy. Definately contemplating whether I need a bottle of this in the future.

    Two Monsters

The vetiver amps on me, as always. I can pick out the harsher notes in here easily (black musk, leather, patchouli and white pepper), whew. Two monsters indeed! It's almost like this is funnel of love's evil brother. Not for me, nope!!

    Post-Mortem Laureatus

Really faint on me but in it's subtlety, even in it's notes it's fresh and very pretty.

    Antony

A quite soft, dirty and slightly herbal scent here! The smallest touch of leather and the frankincense feels like it's giving these ingredients a hug. Works really well. A rugged knight with a heart of gold. Simple but lovely.

    The Witch's Repast

Yep, this is one of BPAL's tarty scents alright. Mostly getting the sweet bread! Which is... more like a pie but alright. I wish I liked it but alas, tarty scents just don't seem to work on me. Fades real quick too! D'aw.

    Midnight Mass

There's something in here that I know I don't like and I can't put my finger on it. Is it almond? Some sort of floral? I think it was in Miss Spink too. However, it seems to be fading on application, woo!! I'm trying so hard to find the deeper meaning but it's just a turnoff for me. Smells like an old lady's bougie perfume to me. However, I'll try and name some notes I'm getting (I could be dead wrong) but a slight hint of amber, frankincense, again something weird and sweet which is heady and just ugh... Dry however, it's a tad more resistable. I've not necessarily grown up with churchly traditions, but having an interest in history and architecture I've visited plenty and I can understand how this might bring some well-cherised memories to plenty.

    The Garden in Winter

Pretty sharp from the decant! Goes soapy on me, which is really sad because up close, I can see exactly what they want me to with this. A lush floral garden, soft and sweet, under a cosy sparkling blanket of snow.
  18. Cali

    The First Soft Snow

Has the same snow note as in talvikuu, almost a candy-like mint. Actually, this is talvikuu without the headyness or woods. Has a touch of floral in there. Very sweet!

    Witchblade

Wow, this scared me a bit, on first application I thought there was saffron in there! (Which made me feel violently sick last time) but no, it just has that same redhot atmosphere in there. And it's not nearly as sharp. There's that same lovely metal as in Crimson peak's The magician, enveloped and well-accompanied by the red musk. All the notes are definately there though, easily picked apart. I don't think it's "for me" per sé, but lovely nontheless. This is kickass. Really, it genuinely is.

    Days of Winter Sunshine

Ooh- from the imp it's almost got something ozone-y. On my skin, it quickly goes to something chilly, but not neccesarily "cold". There's something sharp in here indeed, herbal, but it's not too eminent on me. The frankincense is veeeery faint, but gives it something I can only describe as "fuzzyness". Oh man, I love this!!! It's got a film-noir type thing about it which makes me want to internally monologue in a jersey accent with a trenchcoat on and fedora on my head, looking out of the shutters in front of the window, with the rain banging against it. A thunderstorm rages from far away, while I'm staring out at the distance, to the dreary, grey nuances of the city. Contemplating on keeping the decant. I love it in it's evocativeness, but would I want to smell like this? Maybe if I'm working on art that's got to do with this theme...

    Abe Sapien

Lovely, goes really sharp and slightly soapy on me in a matter of seconds. Not so sharp that it's unpleasant! Is a looooot like Thalassa, the Galapagos mermaid on me, but that one after a couple of days of wear made me feel slightly queasy (I blame the almond and amped up salt to a crazy level) but this one seems to stay in the comfortable to wear zone. No surprise that sweet Abe would smell like this!

    Shadows and Reflections

From the imp I'm getting a general vintage old lady perfume scent, bah. Thank god this goes a little sweeter on my skin thanks to the poppy; however it's so weird, from a distance it smells like a day at the beach to me! Getting closer, this is a heady, evil scent. But not unpleasant. The sandalwood is really amping up on me. This could be black moths little brother? Don't need to keep the decant but certainly interesting!

    Ghosts

I wasn't expecting to like this as much as I do! But then again every crimson peak blend has been top notch: Unfortunately this bottle busted while in the mail, however it must've been recent cause I still got to test some on my skin. It has the same eerieness/darkness from mother ghost, and something comparable to the stuffyness in the manuscript. An old, dusty room full of antiques, and a looming presence. The insence really compliments this as that ghostly veil, and the florals are slightly sharp. It's really quite beautiful and ethereal. Not crazy in your face but not unnoticeable either on my skin! I don't know if I need a bottle of this though it's unfortunate the imp died!

    Paper Kite

I'm not a fan of coconut, so I was a little reluctant to put it on at first, but it's not bad at all. It's indeed slightly suncreen-y, with a soft edge of sharpness which I'm guessing is the black pepper. I guess I can describe it as ...green? Not a fan unfortunately. Others will love it.

    The Phantom Wooer

From the imp, a serene floral. Definately has a ghostly undertone. It's "sad" at first, but it quickly morphs to something a touch more sweeter, with the honey and moss coming through. It's Lulling, almost.
