    De Vos’ Unicorn

This scent pretty much hits on all my happy BPAL triggers: white musk, lavendar, mallow, rose, vanilla. I was a little cautious about the apricot, but I don't notice it. Instead, I smell yummy mallow, vanilla, and white musk - the florals and lavendar take the background in this scene. It's gourmand in terms of airy, fluffy meringues with rose water, not fresh baked cookies. I freaking love it.

    The Agony of Longing

Oh, that's potent rose mingled with violet right away, which I do not like...at all. It gets even more violety as it dries - like the freesia and violet and rose all mingle together to maximize the qualities of violet that never work on me. But, hey, if you like violet, go for this!

    Budding Moon

I expected this to smell more florally than this, but it mainly smells fruity - like musky plum. Perhaps it can find a home with someone else.

    Hanami

When first wet, it smells like only sakura, but the wisteria jumps in almost immediately. This defintely has a white or pale pink floral quality to it, but has a slightly more exotic quality to it with the subtle fruitiness of the sakura.

I haven't smelled plumeria in a long time, but the plumeria definitely comes out on this for me with a mix incense and the BPAL jungle blooms I have smelled before. I am not exactly sure what copal smells like, but I don't really get much sweet orange from this.

    Hetairae

This has so many death notes for me, yet altogether it really works! It's well blended and surprisingly light - more glittery than dense metal. Sublime and cultured it is!

    Les Infortunes de la Vertu

Ohhhh, I like this. I can't tell you anything specific about the individual notes. It's so well blended and sexy, so very sexy. This is going on my list with Whip and Perversion as my go-to scents for when I want to feel sexy.

Beer from the Marsh Woman's Brewery

At first whiff, this is a subtle baked foodie scent. The berries come out a bit, but are very subtle, which surprisingly for a foodie scent this is generally a very subtle smell. I would have to slather it to smell it.

    Red Devil

This is just kind of a powdery floral on me...there's really not much more to say than that.

    Aureus

Wood! Sandalwood to be specific...and something else to makes it very potent and gives the scent something I really don't like. Probably a resin of some sort which combines two things together that never work for me. This is golden in the sense of a church.

    Aizen-Myoo

Apple was my first thought right when I applied this, but now looking at the description, I suspect the apple comes from the combination of cherry blossom with the other fruits as it smells like a floraly apple, a little powdery even.

I'm one of those people who will walk by a rosemary bush then stop and rub some of the fragrant leaves in my hands, so I have been trying to get my hands on this for a while. I suspected the rosemary would dominant, which it does, but the rose and orange blossom soften it a bit and also make it less fresh and more...well, maybe it's the description, but sinister.

    Les Bijoux

At first this smelled very fruity on me with anise (ugh!) on the corners, but it calmed down pretty quickly - still sweet and fruity, but more nuanced and the anise quality (which could be the frankincense and myrrh?) become more background. The skin musk and orange blossom give it more complexity, and you can pick up the notes individually sometimes - it walks you through a lot.

    Namaste

Okay, new lesson learned - I just don't like cedar on me, and the sandalwood only emphasizes the woodsiness, which I tend to like in small doses. Once the lemongrass comes out to play, the woodsiness dies down a bit, but it seems to emphasize the indolic qualities of the jasmine on me. I have found I really like jasmine, but I have to be very careful with it. This one is definitely jasmine with woods and lemon.

    Voodoo Lily

Definitely a different kind of lily - kind of tangy, which often happens with purplish scents on me - they go berry tangy, even a little sour. I didn't really notice a goldness to it.

    The Dodo

Okay, wow, I never would have guessed these were the notes in this. I got this in a GC swap with someone, and when I tried it without reading the description it smelled mainly licorice-minty on me - basically, it smelled medicinal on me.

    Jólabókaflóð

The chocolate, like most of the BPAL chocolate, is pretty strong on my at first, but the waxy, dusty books come in pretty quick after that. Once it dries down, that's exactly what it smells like - eating a box of chocolates whilst reading an old book.

    When Nothing Was

Yep, that's definitely opium. I got this accidentally, so it's already out of my realm of usual scents...where it shall stay.

    Undertow

This is delightful and refreshing! I am keeping this for those oppressively hot Texas summers when this combination of scents will give me some temporary relief.

    Tombstone

I got this as an imp with purchase, so not anything I would have ordered on my own and for good reason. I hate sassafrass, this one confirms it, which isn't to say BPAL doesn't constantly surprise me with notes I think I hate, but this is just not one of them. The balsam and ceder seem to enhance the licoriceness of the sassafrass, particularly when wet. It mellows out a bit as it dries and becomes more cedar, but not for me.

Gingerbread, Vanilla Sugar, and Pink Pepper

This is so fun! Very sweet and foody though the pink pepper does help with the sweetness, but yeah, I mean I smell like a gingerbread cookie. Too sweet for me to wear, but put this in an oil warmer and bam, your house smells like Christmas!

    It Sifts from Leaden Sieves

Patch is always iffy on me, but pale or white patch is okay and often patch completely surprises me, but with the other notes in this - this one was a real gamble for me! I mainly picked it because I love the coconut-white snow BPAL note, and I wanted to smell it with these other notes, so I got this as a decant. I won't wear it, but it smells lovely - delicate, yet woodsy and resiny.

    This World's Joy

This is sooo pretty, delicate, even fragile. It's an innocent sort of joy as opposed to a more boisterous celebration. Need to slather it because it's so light and pale to get some throw. It's well-balanced on me, but I would say the violet is more prominent than the others.

    Gloomy Day (February)

I snatched up a decant of this because of the hay mostly. There's not enough BPAL hay scents imo! Unfortunately, the ambergris just overwhelms, which isn't surprising, the other Yule similar to this one The Forest in Winter at Sunset was also all amber on me.

    Deipnophobia

The BPAL wine note doesn't often work on me - it ends up smelling more ripe red and purple fruits and nothing else, but I got this one because the phobia appealed to me so much. Unfortunately, the wine note does the same thing here and while I get a bit of bread and whiskey, the linen and flowers are not showing up at all for me. It's mostly red fruits - I guess I really amp these fruits, I often can't wear a lot of scents with them because they overwhelm me.
