Whoa, this is very much sea salt at first - it reminds me of those little packets I would buy for my underwear drawers as a kid. This disappates after awhile and the milk comes in, but not as strongly as I would like. But, still this is a perfect scent for those who want a lovely, sea spray scent.

Womb Furie!! Oh yes, I second that! It's an all time BPAL fave of mine! -
Sexy, Smutty, Seductive, Provocative... It's All in Here

Le Vice Supreme from this year's Lupers is one of my fave for being sexy, smutty, and provocative! (The name says it all!) -
This has gardenia and bergamot in it which made it a must try for me when I recently swapped with someone. It reminds me a lot of Tissue, but it's not as soft. I could probably deathmatch them and pick my favorite, but I am on a gardenia kick right now, and this is a def for gardenia lovers.

Oh, wow. This was a little sharp (in a good way) at first, but as it has tried down it has really transformed into this well rounded scent - it's soft and dry, much like dried leaves. The woodiness is very subtle, but definitely there. It fascinates me.

White Chocolate, Strawberry, and White Pepper Truffle
freyasfae replied to thekittenkat's topic in Lupercalia
I was hoping the pepper would be more dramatic in this one, but it's very faint...or maybe I am even trying to make it happen. This on me is mainly white chocolate and strawberry. It's very pretty, but I wanted more sharpness from the pepper. -
Le sigh. This is mostly powdery rose on me - which often happens with rose scents on my skin, and I don't actually mind, but I was hoping the other ingredients would create a more nuanced rose on me. I adore beeswax and tobacco leaf, but nope it's just powdery rose on me. I am going to go sulk now.

The patch is pretty strong when wet and does calm a bit as it dries down and the scent becomes more complex. My nose doesn't really pick out any of the others as distinct on their own, but it's definitely more than patch. I am also less familiar with the others - it's outside my wheelhouse, so that could be it, as well.

Kitten with Shamisen Daydreams of a Phallus Palanquin
freyasfae replied to ClockworkMoM's topic in Lupercalia
Sweet and soft - dreamy and a little fuzzy, but otherwise nothing spectacular. It's a little too simple, and the pear too subtle. -
I really like the smell of jasmine, but it can be too heady on my skin and give me a headache. This is definitely one of those. Interestingly, up close I can smell the white tea blossom - it actually softens the jasmine a bit, but unfortunately, the scent that wafts on to me is a shrieking kind of jasmine. Which seems appropriate with this...I don't quite know what I was thinking...

Pine, pine, pine, pine, pine, pine. There's some other stuff - and if I sniff real close I can start to parse out that there's some interesting stuff going on, but unfortunately, without that intent, this is just pine-y on me - and not like pinesol pine-y - it's like legitimate pine, but still not what I wanted out of this one.

I anticipated that the fir needle would be more pungent and dominant this scent, but when I tried it, I didn't even detect the fir needle until I read the description and thought, "I guess that's the background winteryness." It doesn't even seem like fir needle, just a general winteryness with thick honey musk being most dominant. This seems like a Yule scent - wintery outdoorsyness and candy.

Wow, that's sweet! Interestingly, once it dries down, it's still very sweet, but there's a licorice quality to it that tames it a bit, but I am not a fan of licorice. I think I wouldn't mind this as a bubble bath or something, but not as a perfume.

Similarities Between BPAL Scents - GC and general discussion
freyasfae replied to Shollin's topic in Recommendations
Le sigh, rose lovers, I have noticed that a lot of rose scents are growing increasingly powdery on me. The ones with lots of green are still working well - I am not sure if my skin chemistry has changed or my preferences have changed, but I has a sad. Edit: Sorry I meant to put this in the rose apologist thread! Mods, please delete. -

Deep in Earth!!! https://blackphoenixalchemylab.com/shop/ars-moriendi/deep-in-earth/ -
I can't believe that all leak as I've received some in the mail that did not, however, enough do that if I ship or store them, I take precautions: Leave upright during storage and usually no problem If shipping, use electrical tape or plumbing tape and place in its own, individual baggie I seem to only have a problem with wandcaps leaking during higher temperatures. I used to not put electrical tape on them because they didn't leak, but I do now during particularly hot months. Sylvis, if you want some to travel with you, I can't recommend roller bottles enough. I find them at my local Natural Grocer or online: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01EUXDLOO?th=1 I have noticed though that the metal may clash with some scents, so sometimes you might want rollerballs with plastic applicators. For example, I noticed milk-based scents did not seem to like the metal.

Wet this smelled like snake oil with leather, but as it dried down, it became mostly leather prominent with a touch of vanilla spices. I want to slather my husband in this.

This is more rose than I anticipated, almost like the jasmine makes the rose rosier? The pink pepper gives it a bright quality to counteract the powderiness of the jasmine and rose (which often happens on me). I do get some vanilla, which my skin sucks up, but it doesn't seem vanilla bourbon to me. No patch, none - whatsoever. Kind of bummed about that, but still I like it - I just can't decide if I love it. It definitely has that old-fashioned, Southern lady quality to it - but, not a proper Southern lady, obviously, she's a tart - an expensive tart.

This one is pretty potent on me - it's a sort of spicy floral, but not a powdery spicy floral like carnation on me. Instead it's sharper in an herbal way - like the truth itself. It's very, very interesting - I don't particularly like it, yet I keep sniffing it, trying to figure it out, which I think shows just what a work of art this is.

A Thousand Thoughts, and Hopes, and Joys
freyasfae replied to AmyO'Shields's topic in Black Phoenix Trading Post
This was a sort of mix of powdery florals and sweet sugary. The carnation gives it a bit of spicyness, but I still found it too sweet. -
Well, this one has taught me that the jungle scents just don't work for me, basically because based on these notes I am noticing a pattern. It smells lovely, it's got a clean jungly scent, not like the hot, humid ones - like it is being cooled by moonlight, but I just don't like these on me.
-
I lurve that spicy, baked BPAL scent. It's very spicy and cakey at first, but once it settles in the lavender comes out - it's super cuddly. I could see this being a great bedtime scent!
-
This went through several cycles on me, but I couldn't tell you exactly what notes were prominent at what time. It's very well blended. It has a slight overall powdery quality. The neroli and patchouli seemed very prominent at first, and the cacao and labdanum were more prominent after drying for a bit.

Oh, this is the epitome of gourmand to me! It smells like a delicious, decadent dessert. When first applied and drying down, the thyme was around a bit, but by the time it set, it was mostly lemon zest, cheesecake, and sugared pear.
-
A lovely simple floral - it's sweeter than I expected, but not powdery, delicate - I feel like I can picture a nighttime quality to them.
