    Squirting Cucumber

This is like Bath and Body Works Cucumber Melon grew up, divorced Melon, and went to college for graphic design. I love it - great summer scent.

    Manila

Someone said banana runts in the bottle, and they are exactly right! But almost as soon as it touches my skin, it becomes more tropical green and even a little bit spicy. Definitely a humid, jungle scent which really aren't my thing, but I got this as a frimp with lab purchase so I had to try it!

    Miskatonic University

Wow, so I get why everyone raves about this. This is delicious campus coffee in the library goodness, the oak in particular makes this a very fall scent for me, like the scent I bust out as soon as Fall Equinox comes even though it's still like 80s degrees outside. It's cozy and happy like my favorite time of year.

    Ulalume

I got this as a frimp with a lab purchase and never would have guessed these were the notes when I tried it. This smelled all anise on me with a touch of sweet florals in the background, but the anise was so overpowering, and as I hate anise, I washed it off long before it even dried.

    Black Cat

This wasn't what I expected for a scent named black cat. It has subtle rose in it, maybe dried rose actually. It's pleasant, but I have far superior roses from BPAL.

    Serpent's Kiss

The description says spice, but this has to be cinnamon, it smells like Big Red gum! I got this as a frimp with a lab purchase, and it's just not for me.

    Yew-Trees

Compared to some of the other evergreen-based scents from BPAL, this was not pine-sol on me, probably due to the berries which do in fact "pierce" through the evergreen and lend a sweetness to this scent that is quite pleasant.

    Peitho

Oh, lusty, heady florals right off in this one. Ah, yes, that would be jasmine and lily with myrtle. Considering that this has a lot of my death notes, overall it's not too bad. The clove is barely noticeable on me and it softens a bit into a mostly sophisticated floral scent.

    Cthulhu

In the bottle and right when wet, this smelled like a rather generic cologne, but after a few minutes it started to smell like a lovely cologne inspired by the briny seas. The salt air comes out, and this is actually less aquatic to me than it is sea salt air. While I like these sorts of scents, I don't often wear them on my skin, so I think I am going to save this for summer and see how I like it on my skin.

    Love's Torments

Yep, that's some vetiver. (Places in swap box.)

    The Temptation

Why hello peach! The peach does calm down a bit after some dry time, but it is still very peachy on me with a touch of florals, but it seems in general I tend to amp stone fruits, so who knows!

    Delight and Consternation

I didn't think the lemon would come out so quickly in this, but it does. Immediately on my skin it is all foodie, cocoa, vanilla, and custard with a hint of rose, but the lemon blossom enters the picture rather quickly. After some dry down, the lemon blossom isn't really much there anymore, but the oudh and skin musk are there to ground the scent, but very subtle overall. The lupers just always delight me with their way of being foodie, not foodie.

    Coyote

This one immediately reminds me of the dry, dusty note in a lot of the BPAL book scents, but the spicy touch from the woods makes Coyote distinct. I thought this might be too dry at first because of said note and the woods, but there's a something I can't quite place that keeps it from being too dry. Maybe it is the musk? Not really for me as these spicier scents usually aren't, but still very pretty.

    Shanghai

Wow, my first honeysuckle that doesn't instantly become a death note! I think that is due to the fact that this scent is largely dominated by the citrus and green tea. When you first apply it, it is all citrus, but the tea comes in very quickly. Unsurprisingly, it fades quite dramatically, but this where the honeysuckle comes in and holds it in - making this a citrus tea scent with a bit more strength and throw than a lot of others I have tried. This scent screams summer!

    Ave Maria Gratia Plena

A really beautiful floral on me, but despite the "dusting" of lily, the lily is very prominent at first, in fact, it is all lily, but after several minutes, it calms down a bit and the jessamine and orris come out to play. Eventually, the sandalwood and musks come out, but this was overall largely a lily scent for me.

    Gaueko

The labdanum is heldback on this - this is a scent that floats on me as weird as that sounds, like the misty lavender is literal. I tried this as a bedtime scent, and I do like it, but it's not the perfect lavender or bedtime I am looking for. I think it will go to the swapbox, and I will continue my quest for the perfect lavender.

    Utrennyaya

I received these both with an imp lot I bought on Ebay, but they are definitely different years as the mint is much stronger in one. I like mint already, but I am finding I quite like it as a note in a perfume, but the mint overwhelms a bit when wet while the florals are in the back. On the drydown the sandalwood comes through, this is really a nice summer floral, but it gets a bit powdery on me.

    Clio

In the bottle, it just smells perfumey. I am starting to notice this trend on these imps that appear to be fairly older, but I don't know how old they are. Lavender comes through a bit more on the drydown, and the general dryness of parchment. Overall, I would call this a perfume-y lavender.

    The Forest Reverie

Grape is making me a little twitchy, but the florals are really nice in this, oh there is the smoke. I like the smoke and florals, but grape is still a no for me.
  20. Hi! Just wanted to let you know (if you didn't know already) that Tea Olive = Osmanthus. You may come across many more bpals searching that note. I didn't know that because in Louisiana we always refer to it as "sweet olive" and I've also learned its other name is "tea olive". It's pretty much my favorite scent in the universe! I did not know this, thank you ziggystardust13!

    Slippery Poppy Tincture

The acai berry is overwhelming when wet, but lesser so on the drydown when the honey comes through. I have better honeys so I am not that impressed with this.

    The Red Queen

Considering how much I like eating cherries, I really can't stand the smell, even with a place like BPAL, the scent always seems chemically to me. Admittedly, the strong cherry of this scent doesn't last long and the wood notes come in in a really lovely way and the cherries take a back note, and it is more like woods with a touch of dark fruits, but I can't get paste the initial cherry.

    The High-Ranking Courtesan

I was worried this might be too powdery chocolate at first, but the florals started coming out more as it dried, and eventually the vegetal part kicks in. After about an hour, it is my favorite kind of BPAL, where there are definitely distinct different notes, but it all balances out to this delicate floral gourmand. Hard to categorize as either/or because it neither overwhelming one or the other. The amber and musks ground it and give it a certain powderyness, but again, it is not so much I don't like it. It's just a fascinating scent, one of those you get to experience, and it does stay close to the skin on me.

    Santa Muerte

The vetiver isn't going medicinal on me, I think due to the florals, but it is still too vetiver for me, but those cactus flowers intrigue me.
  25. freyasfae

    Eternal

A faint floral on me. That's really about it. I am surprised the white rose and gardenia aren't coming through stronger, but this is just a general faint floral for me.
