    The Penitent Magdalen

Wet: sweet florals Dry: becomes very spicy and a bit dry, very interesting. Later: incense becomes more prominent but the florals remain and becomes a bit less arid (which is all to the good, as I don’t seem to do well with very dry scents.) Summary: Very nice feminine floral - I want more!

    The Winter of Our Discontent

In bottle: Spicy citrus Wet: a pomander! Very Christmasy (and medieval) Dry: Spicies have overtaken the citrus – strong throw Later: Stays much the same, but fades faster than I’d have expected. It must have been the citrus that gave it the initial throw. Summary: fun and spicy. I’ll be quite happy with this imp and if another wander my way I won’t complain, but it’s not a scent I’m going to need often (as a matter of fact it may hide in my imp box until next holiday season.)
  3. Anybody have any good suggestions for an equivalent of Carpathian Mountains? Especially the open, airy endstage?

    The Jersey Devil

Wet: sweet tart fruits and evergreens Dry: the evergreens back off to an interesting background scent. I’m liking this one much more than I expected. Summary: Very nice, like a walk in the woods in summer. Definite keeper!

    The World

Wet: sweet minty herbals some similar to the Hanged Man Dry: a citrusy note comes out and the mint retreats followed by it all becoming light and airy, less grounded than I would have expected given the listed notes. Not what I was hoping for from it.

    Cairo

Wet: sweet and juicy with something a bit sharper in back (looking at notes it must be the cypress) Dry: Oh and there’s the lemongrass and myrrh. Later: goes through a sour phase before heading back to generic sweetness. Summary: This is at it’s most interesting when wet. I’ll try it again and maybe try it as a room scent but may end up trading. It’s nice enough but dry it’s not that distinctive.

    Banded Sea Snake (2006)

Wet: spicy florals with some citriusy ozone/aquatics Dry: initially the ozone comes out more florals, spice and citirus all moderate but not a weak scent the way ozones often are. After a bit it all smoothes out and blends very nicely into a complex scent that I keep on expecting to be lighter than it is.

    Jabberwocky

Wet: Pine!!!!!! Real trees, not Pine sol. With something sweet growing beneath it’s bows. Very, very astringent. Dry: the eucalyptus and orange start to balance out the pine and mellow it out in a way I wouldn’t have expected. Still astringent. Not really a scent that I want to wear, although not so horrid I want to scrub it off, but it would make a great room scent so I’ll keep it for now.

    Hemlock

Wet: Piney green and herbal sweetness Dry: pine retreats Summary: pleasant green. Nice but not something I currently need more than an imp of.

    Hellfire

Wet: leather, dark musk and a bit of incense (not getting the tobacco) Dry: Maybe a bit of the tobacco, certainly a bit sweeter. Very, very nice. On the masculine end of things but not unwearably so for a woman. Summary: definite keeper. It may be my scent for days when I want a guy around but only have them in literary form. Also nice to have something that isn’t primarily sweet.

    Intrigue

Wet: cocoa and something dark and woody. It’s intriguing ;-) Dry: Gets a bit drier and a bit dirtier than I really like. Will give it one more shot but will probably trade.

    Szepasszony

Wet: Citrus with some flowers in back Dry: much mellower. It hangs on very well (over 12 hours which surprised me since it’s not a very strong scent.) It calms down into an interesting white floral that is very easy to wear Summary: I like this one a lot definitely keeping the imp and it will go in the running for my white floral bottle

    Dragon's Milk

Wet: citirusy DBr Dry: a milky note like Dana o'Shee comes out once it dries, then it goes through a peachy phase followed by a light milky version of dbr. As has been mentioned elsewhere a comforting scent and one I'll enjoy an imp of even if it's not my one true DBR.

    Carnal

Wet: bitter citrus, sweet florals, makes my mouth water :-) Dry: Powdery sweet tarts. Nice but not really “me”. It might be fun for salt scrubs, tho.

    Dee

Wet: astringent evergreen over sweet woody spices Dry: the parts balance better and woodiness gains some depth and roundedness. Sweet but not feminine but not so masculine it doesn’t work for a woman. Summary: great for days when I want to feel like I’m in a forest or what to smell good but not sexy.

    Moscow

Wet: an old-fashioned floral. With a bit of citrus in the back. Dry: a more expanded version of the wet. Very pleasant, but once again, not me. Will citrus works well enough with my chemistry it just doesn’t seem to mesh with my self image or something. I may keep it and try it again later and see if that changes.

    The Wheel of Fortune

Wet: Wintergreen!!!! (Wintergreen lifesavers to be specific) with something musky and spicy behind it. Dry: it balances a bit better. I’m not doing any better at identifying the notes in back they are now all blending together to become part of an interesting and complicated whole. It’s head-clearing in all senses of the phrase and would be great as a room scent for when trying to think something through. Summary: I’m not sure it’s a scent I want on me, but it’s certainly one I’d enjoy around me. Also not particularly long-lasting on me.

    House of Mirrors

The amber never shows up on me but I get the glass in the sharp white floral. It’s very traditionally perfumey in scent and while I’m glad to have had a sniffie of it I don’t regret not having more.

    Budding Moon

Sweeter than the other Lunacies I’ve tried, and yes, it’s a very springlike scent. Light but not so light it gets lost – the musk must be grounding it. I'll definitely enjoy the imp and wouldn't object to more if it wanders my way, but it's not such a different scent to make me go hunting hard.

    Morocco

The intoxicating perfume of exotic incenses wafting on warm desert breezes. Arabian spices wind through a blend of warm musk, carnation, red sandalwood and cassia. Summary: Very nice, but I I doubt I'll use up this imp before next winter. I'll wait until then to see about refils In bottle: Musky vanilla Wet: Musky vanilla with some white florals coming up from behind Dry: nice warm scent, more for winter than summer (not as spicy as I'd like for summer sultriness) Later: lasts really well settling down into a very long lasting (15 hours and still going) sweet warmth.

    Polyhymnia

Summary: Ok, but nothing exciting. I think I may try it as a salt scrub scent as it would make a lovely bath scent but doesn’t have the longevity I want for everyday. In bottle: bright citrus with supporting florals Wet: almost wholly citrus – sharper less sweet citrus than orange Dry: The florals start to come out. Later: The citrus oges away almost completely leaving a very old-fashioned sort of floral behind. Lasts about five hours

    The Magician

rootbeer with a kick, goes green as it dries. Ok but not great as a pure scent, interesting as a meditation.

    Black Opal

Wet dusky sweetness, nice but not overwhelming and a little weaker than would make me crave a big bottle.
  24. lapillus

    Black Moon

Musk and flowers with some of the clarity I’d expect from the cucumber and pear showing up once it starts to dry. Very pleasant and I'll definitely enjoy my imp (and wouldn't object to another if it shows up but probably won't go hunting.)

    The Sun

Mixed citrus over herbal flowers nice but not quite me as a wearing scent, but can see how it works as a tarot reference. Would make a cheery, warming room scent, pleasant to meditate to.
