  1. I am here with all that I possess, Sir – A name, a patch of land and the will to make it yield. The least you can grant me is the courtesy of your time and the chance to prove it to you, and these fine gentlemen, that my will, dear Sir, is at the very least, as strong as yours.

Amber, clove and leather takes shape through the scent of raw determination; a fortitude born of having nothing left to lose. In the background, guiac wood, white sandalwood, and myrrh forms the dust of long-forgotten aspirations and hope on the verge of being forever relinquished.

    Oooh, this is lovely.

In the bottle, I smell nothing but leather and clove.

Wet on skin: leather, leather, leather. I love the lab's leather note -- I will never stop kicking myself for selling my bottle of De Sade right before it was DC'ed. But some leathers can be a bit too sharp and masculine for me to actually use. As I applied to my skin and sniffed, I thought "Lovely scent, but far too manly for me. I'll pass this bottle along to my brother for his birthday next week."

Drydown: Well, guess what? My brother is out of luck. lol When this oil dried and mellowed on my skin, it turned into lovely soft, warm leather and the sandalwood came out to play. The sharpness of the cloves mellowed out and gave it a warmth. It reminds me a bit of Dee, one of my favorites on the more manly spectrum. It's a little masculine, but not in an aftershave kind of way. It just smells like a refined library filled with leather-bound books and perhaps some sandalwood trinkets from far-away lands.

Honestly, I don't get any amber from this at all, which is surprising, as my skin usually amps amber to the nth degree.

    This one's a keeper!

  2. Wet: It smelled like lemon pledge and diaper rash ointment when I put it on. I instantly marked it down in the "tried and hated" category on my spreadsheet and was prepared to trade it immediately, but...

Dry: Even though I HATED it when I first applied it, I didn't wash it off, and I'm so happy I didn't, because thirty minutes after application, it had mellowed into the most scrumptious vanilla buttercream. So good! I haven't loved a vanilla blend this much since Underpants! I smell almost no lavender, it's all vanilla on me in the drydown, and I couldn't be happier.

Happy I gave it a chance after an initial unfavorable impression!

  3. Wet: Floral and coffee. Not a fan. The orchid way amped on me. Sadness!

Drying: Oooh, now, this is nice. The orchid calms its ass down and finally takes a seat, and the champaca and amber get a chance to come out and play. As others have mentioned, it's a lovely, resinous incense-y scent. Heady and sexy, dark and mysterious.

Hour later: still very nice incense, but going a bit powdery on me now. Smells like a Hot Topic circa 1999. May sound like I'm insulting it, but my teenage self had very good times in Hot Topic in 1999, so this is pretty nostalgic for me. heh

Glad I got an imp, but probably won't seek out a bottle.

  4. OMG, I'm in love. I had been wanting to try BPTP's HG for ages. However, none of the scents were catching my eye, but when this one was listed on etsy, I knew I had to try it, being a lover of all the peach dragoncon scents over the years. I mostly get peach and apricot, but there's something spicy under there that anchors the scent and makes it more complex than the fruity shampoo smell that peach and apricot alone would give. It's a truly gorgeous scent, and I say that as someone who is very picky about my fruits and florals. This scent reminds me of Fae, which is my absolute favorite summer perfume of all time.

I think this has a decent throw, not sure what people are talking about when they say they can't smell it at all. I keep tossing my hair like a moody teenager to catch a whiff of my gloriously scented hair. Mmmmmmmm. Do yourself a favor and track down a bottle of this. It's magnificent.

  5. Bubblegum and fruity body lotion from Bath & Body Works. :-) But in the nicest possible way. This is a light, playful, innocent perfume. Would even be great for a child or teen. The fruit is dominant on my skin, but I get some floral too. Very nice! I prefer more sultry scents, so I probably won't be wearing this regularly, but it does smell lovely.

  6. Mostly rose on me, but with enough sandalwood peeking through to keep it from being sickly sweet. It's a lovely feminine perfume that makes me think of ballgowns and rose corsages and tea roses tucked behind your ear or woven through your hair, but the sandalwood gives it a bit of a spicy kick, so it's not all sweetness and light. I'm not really one for florals or roses, so I probably wouldn't wear this on a daily basis, but I could see dabbing some behind my ears for a wedding, or a ball or some other special fairy tale occasion. :-)
