Favorite Scents
I love many gourmands (no chocolate, though), and sweet scents with a dark twist. My current favorite BPALs are Alice, Streets of Detroit, The Worst Pillow, Movie Night, and Mouse Circus. I'm still deciding about O.

Okay, this is very warm, cozy, and bright on me. Polished wood to me, I think, but not of any particular type. It's rather spicy and also resinous. Relatively light on my skin and doesn't have much throw on me which is fine, because it means I can wear it to work.

This was a blind buy for me because I do love Snake Oil. However, in the bottle when I first got this, there was a very strong baby diapers association. I'm not sure why. I think the Snake Oil somehow was leaning very powdery with the salt/nuts underneath making this very musky and just...odd. It's been settling now for several months, and I finally skin tested it, as the 'baby diaper' smell from sniffing the bottle died down a lot. At first, wet, this is now a much less sultry version of Snake Oil on my skin. The mixed nuts kind of mellow the Snake Oil. After about an hour, the Snake Oil is gone and it's mostly just like sticking your nose in a can of mixed nuts with some salt. This one isn't for me.

I managed to get my hands on this the other day. Honestly, aside from it being a discontinued bottle at this point, the only other draw for it was the motor oil note. Motor oil + me seem to be a perfect match at the moment (I now own several where motor oil is the predominant note). I have no idea what black musk smells like on its own, but that and the myrrh seem to be tempering the motor oil. Like others have said, the perfume oil itself is even a bit viscous and thicker than my other oils. The blend is very dark and resinous, almost sweet when it opens on skin. I can smell the motor oil not far off, but this becomes very soft when it's drying down. Nothing like what it is in the bottle. The oil drops to the background a bit, letting the musk and myrrh come through a little more clearly. It's definitely dark, sexy, and a bit mysterious. Initially when I purchased this, I had half a mind to resell it, but I'm definitely keeping it for myself now for sure.

I just found this thread! Sadly, like someone here said, the cap on my imp of Snake Oil snapped as well! Even though I will most likely end up buying a full size, it's still a little sad since I either need to store this imp separately and upright now, or use it all up instead of letting it age. Hopefully, future batches of imps won't be so faulty. Normally, this hasn't even been a problem. I only noticed it recently...my older imps are all fine.

I just received a (supposedly) 2005 cobalt bottle of this! Sweet scents like these tend to be very ephemeral on my skin which probably means I could stand to moisturize more. In the bottle, I get a deep sweetness, something that reminds me almost of autumn spices, like pumpkin pie crust. On skin, however, it's soft and sweetly burned sugar. It becomes richer as it dries down. This is lovely, and I'm really glad I blind bought it!!
