This is pretty, but something goes sour and bitter on me, almost soapy. I like the fresh, clean quality of it, but i'm not loving the floral notes. It has an asian undertone to it, but there's just not enough creaminess to make it wearable for me. Sad Panda~

What a surprise! I have to say the name on this one isn't a good fit to me. I'm not getting anything like the frozen, dry desert I was expecting. It's very pleasant, but more of an aquatic overall. Fresh, delicate orris is the highlight here, and it doesn't disappoint in that respect, but goodness, it's coming across as "dewy" rather than "snowy" to my nose. I'm also reminded of the herbal shampoo from my childhood and think this just might be AMAZING on a manbeast~

Decant sniff is sweet, fruity and creany taffy chewy i'm pretty sure is the woody, orange Petitgrain. Something about this reminds me of the Luper, Florette's purple snails or Adante con Fantasia, but I love this much more. Stunning! Magnifique!!! After application, it dries down to a spicy, fresh and feminine fragrance. Very proper, creamy yet darkly victorian. More Please If you're into corsets, stockings, garters and white leather paddles YOU NEED THIS! Something about it makes me want to put on those thigh high boots I can't walk in, and sit in a swing. Don't tell Santa!

A Thousand Thoughts, and Hopes, and Joys
Jenjin replied to AmyO'Shields's topic in Black Phoenix Trading Post
The 2016 Yules have been emotional for me. Coming just after the Anniversary collection, they have symbolized sacred offerings to winter. Talismans of hope and truth to empower us in the enveloping darkness. I'm a huge fan of the lab/post carnation and couldn't pass this one up. RED! This oil is Christmas red, it makes me wish for a clear bottle. Upon application, carnation is the main player here, along with something sweet and sparkling I'm guessing is the freesia that is giving it a creamy vanilla sweetness. As it dries down, the floral notes deepen and become a musk of GORGEOUS glowing carnation. It could be the most magnificent carnation in my collection with excellent throw, and I can detect is even after 6 hours of wear. TRANSCENDENT -
Minty, boozy almost peppermint schnapps in the bottle. The mint isn't a sharp note, but rather delicate and sugared straight out the bottle. I'm still picking up yummy, creamy Kahlúa type note that I'm guessing is the RED part and very much like german chocolate or milky cocoa. On the skin, the mint is soft and lovely, with the cake note amping up after a minute or two but without any of the buttery, cheesy part. HOLYSNOWBALLS this is GORGEOUS! I'm gonna douse myself in this bottle and call it Christmas! This is even better than MB Tokyo Stomp, Cake Smash, Sprinkle Cake for me. If you love sweet, sparkling frosting with a touch of sweet mint and a smash of sweet cake, YOU NEED THIS. So wearable, cozy, perfect, dizzy, THUD. I'm gonna need a couple backups (sigh), where's my list to Santa?

In June, Lilith was cast as the Mad Hatter in her theater schools production of Alice in Wonderland. Typecast much? Lilith says that the Mad Hatter should smell like tea (EARL GREY!) with honey and cream and lots and lots of cookies. A MAD TEA PARTY orgy with teetering cakes, frosting and sparkling currents. More sugary frosting than cream, and the fruits are syrupy with sweetness and jam. So rich and decadent, it moves through different stages from lemony tea, to cakes and cookies with a fruity finish. I can still smell it on me several hours after application and I dream of warm cookies spread with red sticky fruits. The White Rabbit smiles as he pours more tea and I must loosen my belt

The Bitches Red Unicorn galloped its' way into a magical cupcake shop and drop rolled around in fluffy, sugary white cakes. Yep, the fruity note reminds me of the red raspberry notes of Bitches Love Unicorns along with the lab's epic cake note. It's beautifully done and simply scrumptious. For me, raspberry can sometimes have a savory tone, almost like ketchup or chutney for meats. At the very start, when the oil is wet, it has a bit of a condiment smell so i'm hoping the cake note amps as the oil ages. Really fun and festive overall, this Sufganiyot little sister is truly smashing!

Crystalline white myrrh, i'm getting something similar to OLLA Streets at first, but without any of the grit or oil. These streets are frozen and the wind is blowing the snow powder across the landscape. The musky labdanum grinds down the myrrh but I am left searching for the bourbon vanilla. Was it left out? This is one of those oils that needs to age a bit. I'm hoping the vanilla makes an appearance after the myrrh has a chance to swirl a bit longer with the musk.

Swift as Light, Beauteous in Color, Charming in Song
Jenjin replied to aphrodite's topic in Limited Editions
Florals, deepened by musk, I can pull out each of the notes. Golden, orange blossom honey runs through a breezy, sunlit meadow. The magnolia blossoms are full and dripping their nectar, while bees buzz from blossom-to-blossom with their musky, pollen covered legs. Ah, this one is GORGEOUS late springtime. Frolicking through the grassy hillsides with my full, ruffled skirts. Tumbling down the velvet, mallow creaminess and winding up into a beautiful, sunlit fragrance that takes my breath away. Swift as Light is a phoenix masterpiece that I must have. -
The Glimmer of the Northern Lights, The Yellow Flowers of the Greenland Summer
Jenjin replied to Kat Conover-Karpuk's topic in Limited Editions
Golden, frosty atmospheric start with a bunch of other notes that are very new to me. It is very fruity, sweet lemon, yellow melon, yellow mango syrups swimming in a icy, dark blue glow of something almost electric. This is SO DIFFERENT. I don't have anything in my collection like this, except perhaps Rendezvous in the Bath. Very clean, fresh and bright overall. Just lovely~ -
The florals completely overpower all the other notes for me. Just after application I was hopeful, yet after drydown I'm only getting a Jasmine note and I'm really missing the resins and orange blossom. If you love and can wear Jasmine, do not hesitate. This one is very fresh.

HAPPINESS IN A BOTTLE Light, fresh, and airy, the citrus notes are smoothed over by the saffron vanilla and warm amber. Something about it reminds me of Edith with an extra squeeze of orange. After it settles, it becomes a one-note citrus on me. I'm wishing for a bit more vanilla and depth but this would be lovely for layering. UPDATE: I only have a decant of this, and after a month, I NEED A BOTTLE, MAYBE 2. It undeniably wearable, and on days that I'm not wearing it, I can't get it out of my mind. GORGEOUS!

Fortunately, I was surprised with a decant of this, otherwise I would have completely missed it. It was love at first application for me and I rushed to order a bottle. This is a blend that is very deceiving when wet. Bottle sniff is a strong, pine smell with a warm wood back note. Upon the skin, the pine is the first thing floating upwards, but after a few minutes it settles down and the smooth, warm wood notes intensify along with the amber. I'm getting a scent very much like Haloes, but with a gentle pine forest feel. The unicorn lumbering behind the king is warm and glowing like the sun. A King Pursued by a Unicorn is my favorite from the 1 & 2 release. It is incredibly elegant and wearable to me, and warms into almost a caramel vanilla with a bit of sweet pine resin on me. Very haute couture and beautifully blended. If you love Haloes, this is a MUST TRY.

And where should a man bring his sweet to woo But here, where such hundreds were lovers too? Where lie the dead lips that thirst to kiss, The empty hands that their fellows miss, Where the maid and her lover, from sere to green, Sleep bed by bed, with the worm between? For it's turn of the year and All Souls' night, When the dead can hear and the dead have sight. Cold white iris, benzoin, and bitter frozen aldehydes. This is quite unusual. The white iris comes out right away, along with a creaminess. Like the smell of thick, white pearly makeup paint that a ghost might spread across it's cheeks before a spooky, dead dance. I can detect the benzoin blended with the aldehydes which gives it a vintage, almost cold cream feel. My gauzy dress is frozen and won't come off no matter how long you kiss me.

Dusty, dark dried berries and overgrown witches kitchen garden. I get tiny whiffs of woozy, purple poisonous weeds and patchouli. I'm so glad I picked this one! It is a sultry, glistening scent for dark rooms and burning fires. WOW! Editing to add that I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS HASN'T GOTTEN MORE ATTENTION HERE. This is such an incredible scent for all you dark purple berry lovers out there. Run before the weenies are over and get this atmo. It is flipping magical.

The Ghost of a Woman Confronts Her Murderer on a Stormy Night
Jenjin replied to Shel Healy's topic in Halloweenie
The white, sun-bleached cedar note is strongest to my nose along with dirt, patchouli and tar. It's just a bit harsh to me like sticky resin on my hands after handling sappy pine planks. I'm starting to doubt if black musk is something that I can wear. It never goes the way I expect it to, and perhaps what i'm thinking it should smell like, just isn't what it is. The white floral note is cold and doesn't really resonate with the heavy, stormy and resinous notes. I'm imagining this floral represents the woman's ghost and her smite against the person who stole her life. I'm getting a definite conflict. -
Dead Leaves, Raw Leather, Bourbon Vanilla, and Clove
Jenjin replied to puellacaerulea's topic in Halloweenie
Maybe I'm nose confused because I've been testing a bunch of scents today, but I'm really not picking up any leather, clove, or even the typical dead leaves note. It's all blended together into something a bit like vanilla bay rum for me. It's lovely, but if i'm hankering for some smooth, boozy nilla, I have other choices.- 24 replies

Well! Somebody dragged the sticky sappy fir tree into the fire and the flames went out. This is certainly a cold weather weenie. Here in Texas Halloween is sweaty business. It's either smoldering hot, or pouring rain, but NEVER EVER cold. How do I spell it - Przeczucie takes me to the woodlands where the fires burn and the kids run around glistening, evergreen trunks in their costumes. The air is chilly and people are outside drinking hot cider and chopping wood. It's a dream for me, just like this scent. I think I need a bottle of this for my transformation to take place. I want to be there in this thicket, if not in real life, but just beyond on the silver cord.

I had to try this! and must say it is highly unusual. The main notes I'm getting are cucumber, craft paste and a teenytiny hint of moth balls. It provides plenty of scent memory triggers such as opening plastic wrapped dyed cloth costumes for the first time and the weird smell that wafts upwards from inside. There is a certain lighthearted quality to it, but not something I could ever pull off wearing without feeling like i'm wearing mildewed britches. After drydown, I am getting something quite pleasant, alot like fresh air blowing through open windows at dusk, but the wet stage simply puts me off way too much. May try it again in a few days to see how it goes.

I'm not getting much lunar musk or ambergris from this. It's mostly a salty, ocean air aquatic that is rings with a bright blue note. I'm missing more of a wet stone or wet sand beachy note that I think would ground this and keep it from being so reminiscent of fabric softener sheets, and room fragrance. It is very much like a more musky Sea Foams Milk without the cream and a dash more salt.

The Dead Can Yearn and the Dead Can Smite
Jenjin replied to crimescenecleanup's topic in Halloweenie
Wet, mossy and softly clean smelling, this is just a bit different than I was expecting. It is very fresh and green overall, and i'm searching for the grave note. Herbal forest fresh, the drydown goes beautifully without any bitterness that can happen with agar. I can see this as a unisex scent and with some time, the black musk could deepen and give the balance a bit more depth. I'm not getting too much of it at this point, but can see this aging very well. Quite lovely like a velvety green hillside clearing in a forest.- 1 reply

Very sweet violet comes out just after application of this pink oil. I'm getting a sweet candle wax very much like The Light of Men's Lives mixed with Fleurette's Purple Snails. Any green notes are very fleeting, and after dry down, this goes completely vanilla, violet powdery on me. It has a ton of throw and lasts for hours but sadly, not my jam and reminds me of toiletry products.

Yes! I jumped headfirst into this one, mostly because of the opoponax. I'm getting a strong whiff of spray cleaner right away! Yeah, it's minty, soapy industrial and gritty. This is definitely not something i can personally wear, but can certainly see it blowing some minds out there. BOOM~ The leather sits right on top, and it's very refined and upscale in a way. This is black and shiny glistening evil with fangs, and it's pulling me in. There's a clean, scrubbed feeling from it that gives me visions of extremely sexy beasts--oh no! I gotta say if my lover had this on, I would be completely out of control. The End

What a gorgeous blend! I can smell all the notes dancing together perfectly. I can detect the woods, a few evergreen trees, a smoky fire and sugary musk. It's very much like making out with your lover by the fireside, yet beautifully delicate like the wind gently blowing aromatic spruce and oaks. It wears very close to the skin and makes me want a giant jug of it so I can slather it on after a shower or bath. Everyday is my favorite day when I wear this, and it must be with me always

Medicinal, metallic tootsie rolls. I'm already pretty certain as soon as it hits my skin it's not working. Woodsmoke and chocolate scents rarely work for me, and baby reminds me of raku kilns and plastic, brown chewy candy and then something else like wintergreen mixed in that turns into sore muscle cream. My muscles hurt, and I'm binging on tootsie rolls by a fire that went out an hour ago. I'm jealous of the ones that can pull this one off because it is a fun blend
