    Channel Snow

Wet: Really interesting! Spicy and woody. Very dry, but also warm. It totally does remind of static. So interesting and unique. I like it a lot so far. Dry: I waited too long to review it dry, and it disappeared! So not long lasting (a couple hours only). I liked it while it lasted though, it was warm, woody and spicy. I can see wearing it in the summer on hikes.

    El Amor y la Muerte

I am super nervous about trying this. It's been resting for ages. When it first came in from PI, I opened the bottle for a sniff, and it smelled like rancid oil. Like it had actually maybe gone off. A few days later it smelled a bit better in the bottle. Hoping it just needed to settle. Wet: Thank goodness, it's not bad! The red sandalwood is gorgeous. The clove is subtly and lovely. Sadly, the rose wants to go a bit soapy on me. Hoping it settles on my skin, because otherwise this is really warm and complex and lovely. The resins give it such a beautiful rich sweetness. Dry: Subtle and warm. Sweet clove and resins, and warm sandalwood. Really nice. I wish it were stronger though. Going to age it and see.
  3. [No additional description provided.] I can't believe no one has reviewed this yet! I thought this would be super popular. I mean, who hasn't thought at least once in their life, "man, I wish my hair could smell like toasty marshmallows and dead leaves!" am I right?? This is FABULOUS. I feel like the Lab and Post Dead Leaves notes are like Russian Roulette - you don't know which one you're going to get. Will it be that cologney one I really hate? The sort of aquatic one? That SUPER bitter one? Or that perfect, legit smells like dead leaves crunching under your feet one? Well, it's that one folks. Perfection. And it's not too strong. In fact, the sweet vanilla fluffy only slightly scorched marshmallow come out on top. I love this. In my top three of Dead Leaves HG thus far (other two are Dead Leaves and Cinnamon Incense and Whatever Else from last year, and Dead Leaves, Patchouli, Honey and Stuff from the year before. Super happy I got a 1oz of this instead of just a little 5ml. I will have to restrain myself from getting a full bottle with firm reminders that I have never used up anything in my life ever. ANYWAY - the entire point of this whole rambling review - if you love marshmallow, try this. Don't let the Dead Leaves scare you off, they are well behaved here.

    Count Dracula

Wet: Oooh, that's nice. I was expecting a lot of clove, but this is actually more about the ginger on me. It's backed by something rich and sweet that reminds me of warm amber. The leather and wood are very subtle, and the whole thing is very well blended. Not sure if I love it. But I do like it so far. Dry: Ginger, hints of clove and leather. It's not wowing me at all, which is sad, I had such high hopes, as so many speak so highly of this. I will likely need to let it go to another home, as I don't love it enough to keep it away from others who would love it.

    The Two Old Men

Wet: Mmm. Sweet coffee is very dominant, with the cocoa. They meld together brilliantly, and without any creaminess that sometimes sours blends like this on me. The teak coming through is stunning (I ADORE teak). This is so so good. I thought it would be really masculine, but it's sweet enough on me and it's totally unisex. Almost but not quite foodie. Dry: Interesting! Still lovely and sweet, lots of coffee and teak, but also a perfumey quality I was not expecting. It's really lovely. I adore coffee scents, I find them very comforting, so I can see this getting a lot of wear.

    Phantasm

Wet: Whoa! That's a lot of lemon. The jasmine is not horrible! Wow. I actually kind of don't hate this, but man is it intense! I think I would like it more as a tea than a perfume... Dry: I don't like it. It smells like a lemon cough drop. BUT I don't hate and it considering it is made up of 4 (I won't say "death notes", how about almost never works notes?) I call that a win.

    Mister Wednesday

Wet: A warm musky scent, reminds me a tiny bit of the musks in Dorian, and then the herbs come into play, and all resemblance is gone. "clean, herbal musk" is how I would describe this now. Utterly pleasant but not at all exciting. Dry: This is a lovely clean, grassy musk on me. I don't find it nearly as masculine as I expected to. I actually really enjoy it, it feels like a cool spring day, with the sun shining and the grass starting to turn really green...not at all what I expected. Might even be worth a bottle!

    Loosening of the Obi

Wet: Oooh. That's lovely. Soft white musk, a whisper of vanilla. It's a bit creamy. There is something almost a little green, or fresh about it. Vey soft, feminine and pretty. Very springy/summery. Dry: I do wish this was a bit stronger, but as it is it's a perfect work scent for me - light, totally inoffensive. Not much throw, but so very pleasant. Clean without being at all soapy or aquatic. It makes me feel pretty.

    Miss Fanny Phippany

Wet: Whooo!! That's a lot of leather and clove. STRONG leather. However, it's not doing that whole icky chemicals things, and the clove sweetens it up nicely, making the whole thing pretty damn sexy. Black leather and clove cigarettes, sexy. I have been looking for a scent like this for AGES. The clove is perfect in this. Dry: This has good lasting power. The leather note is still strongest, but it's a smooth leather, and I can handle it. It's sweet, rich and spicy as well. It's altogether a very dark, sexy scent. I like it! Not sure how much wear I will get out of it, but I am happy to have it.

    Gun Moll

Something about this has always called to me, and I have contemplated hunting a bottle down for years. It really could go either way, with this combination of notes....often scents with a ton of notes are a muddled mess on me. Wet: Interesting! Opium, amber and honey are what I think I am getting initially. Some complexities that I can't identify, but that give it a wonderful depth, as well. Some smoky tobacco as well. If I had to describe it in three words at this stage - "oldschool, classic sex-appeal" (Shh, that is too three words). It gets a little dirty, a little gritty (in a good way!) as it dries further. Oh ya, this is sexy. Dry: This is primarily a soft, sensual, sweet opium scent on me. I don't like many opium scents, I usually find it sharp and unappealing, but this, as I say, is soft and sweet, very well rounded, with hints of floral and spice that swirl around appealingly. I think the sweetness of both honey and amber are what make this so gorgeous on me. It's very old school sexy, and I love it. Glad I took the chance on it!

    Not Such an Agreeable Seat

Wet: Oudh- and it's a bit funky, but it doesn't actually smell like poo here, so we are off to a great start. Actually, I quite like this so far. Floral, woody, with just a hint of saffron. It's not wowing me, but it's certainly very pleasant, and kind of different. I like different. Dry: Turns out that even when oudh doesn't smell like poo, I still don't actually like it. It's just too...tangy? Funky? Weird. Not my jam. And that's all I can smell once this dries, is slightly floral oudh. Not for me!

    See How They Flash

Wet: Surprisingly, the lilac overpowers almost everything right off the bat. I figured violet would stomp all over it, but so far this is lovely lilac with plum and a shimmery musk. Gorgeous! So unexpected. It actually smells a lot like a couple of imps of Bensiabel that I have (not my bottle, which sadly smells too strongly of leather, for whatever reason). This makes me extremely happy - finally a plum and lilac scent! So stunned the violet barely shows up at all, and so grateful, as it's one of my least favourite notes. Dry: Yeah, this is gorgeous. This was a free sniffie from my decantress - I never would have tried it otherwise. SO HAPPY that I did. Just proves there is no such thing as a death note....I am getting a bottle. Who would have ever thought I would own a bottle with violet in it? If there is some tragic batch variation and I get a bottle that is pure violet though, I may cry.

    Luna Azul 2018

Wet: I don't know what motia attar is, but I wonder if that's what I am smelling? It's sort of a creamy herbal scent. Very bizarre. Hmmm. Dry: Slightly fruity, but still mainly this strange, unidentifiable scent - creamy and herbal green is the only way I can describe it. It's kind of lovely, in a strange, ethereal kind of way. Not sure how much I will wear it, but glad I tried it, and I will keep the decant.

    Esbat

Wet: Ooooohhh man that`s a lot of mugwort. It`s like a slap in the face. Kind of clears your sinuses. I don`t actually dislike mugwort, in fact, I find it kind of compelling, however I have never been able to convince myself that I really want to wear it. Dry: Still mugwort. Sadly, still don`t think I can wear it, but it really does intrigue me!

    Fortuna Felix

Wet: Orange, and some pale tobacco. I like that combo sometimes, but here the champaca is making it a bi headshoppy, and it`s also trying to veer into orange cleaner territory. Dry: It gets better as it dries, the orange gets brighter and less powdery, but this is still not a scent that`s `me`.

    Fortuna Praecantatrix

I normally wouldn't have tried this because pomegranate ruins every scent on me, however my lovely decantress included a tester for me, and I never pass up the opportunity to try something - you just never know! Wet: OMG I had totally missed that this had oudh in it....smells like poo. Not as terribly as it sometimes does on me, but it's still a wee bit ripe. Which is too bad, because there is also a gorgeous woody tone that I am loving. The pomegranate is actually not dominant on me, just providing a slight tart fruity aspect. Interesting. If it weren't for that tiny hint of feces lurking underneath, I might actually like this. Dry: The oudh settles and stops smelling like feces, and this become a rather pleasant, rich, woody fragrance. I don't dislike it, but I don't really love it either. Glad to have gotten to try it!

Honey Maple Hot Toddy Hair Gloss

With apple bourbon. This is very apple-y and boozey! Not getting as much of the honey or maple as I had hoped. It is almost caramelly though, and quite yummy. I would describe it as a caramel-sweet apple hot toddy. It's lovely, but no sign of the maple I was so hoping for.

    Hot Buttered Rum Hair Gloss

Hot buttered rum with a touch of molasses, lightly spiced and swirled with a touch of cream. I love rum notes, and this one is delicious, the same one in Captain Lilith, to my nose. However, the cream I think is somewhat ruining this for me. Cream is not always my best note, and this is turning slightly sour, and also slight "scorched" to my nose, while also somehow being kind of plastic. Butter is often not good for me either, so that could be the problem too. I guess this one is not for me, despite how amazing the rum note is.

    Fortuna Balnearis

Wet: *sigh* orange bathroom cleaner or doom. Why do I insist on trying? (because honey and vanilla husk and sap, that's why.....) Dry: This actually recovers quite a bit on my skin, and settles into a somewhat juicy, tart orange scent with lots of green sap. There's some bitterness from, I think, the orange blossom aspect, and I am not a huge fan of that. It's OK, and I bet lovely if you enjoy both orange and orange blossom. Not I. Glad I tried it though!

    Fortuna Tranquilla

Wet: Really gorgeous lavender (the sweet, heady kind I adore, that smells almost like lavender sugar) mixed with incensey champaca. The effect is really interesting! Not getting any jasmine, which is fine by me. I never would have tried this, but my decantress included a tester. I am surprised at how much I am liking it. That lavender note is AMAZING. Dry: I am surprised, I really do like this! Nose to skin it's all about that gorgeous sugary lavender note. The throw is almost all soft champaca. It's really interesting. I can't imagine wearing it, but really glad I got to try it. If you love lavender and champaca, give it a go - they are not weird together at all (I totally expected them to be weird together). Edited because I hit post before I was finished.

    Fortuna Annonaria

Wet: WHY, patchouli, WHY?! I used to think I really liked patch. I ADORE Banshee Beat. But lately, patchouli has been ruining pretty much every scent for me, regardless of how much I love all the other notes (and I love them all here). It smells dry, rooty, earthy - basically like dirt. Not the rich loam scent that I like either. Like dusty earth. *sigh*. I can smell the tobacco underneath, but so far it's not enough to sweeten up what is turning into a horribly dry scent - the sandalwood isn't helping with that in this case. Dry: Yep, patchouli. Dirty, dusty, unpleasant patchouli. Makes me sad.

    Frostbitten Blood Amber

Wet: This is kind of beautiful. I don't care much for dragon's blood, but the beautiful snow note seems to help the amber smooth out that DB, so it's not so horribly high-pitched on me. It all works really well together, and is kind of intoxicating. Mmm. Dry: Ah man, I was kind of hoping to hate this! Instead, I love it. May be my favourite dragon's blood scent (yes, even better than Dragon's Milk and Creeper Dragon, the only others I like). I guess I have to buy a bottle...

    Honey Snowballs Hair Gloss

I assumed this would be identical to the Lab's Honey Snowballs scent, but It's not, at least not to me. The Lab's is honey + the snow note from Snow White. The Post's is honey + a slightly piney, slightly slushy snow note. At least, to me. Still lovely, still glad I tried it, but not totally identical. I do like the one from the Lab better, as I adore that particular snow note.

    Touched Twice

Wet: Mmm, creamy, musky coconut, and soft "clean" smelling florals. Lovely. It is a bit powdery, but in the nostalgic, clean way that I quite like. It smells classic. Wow, this is complex and gorgeous. Like, stunning. Utterly beautiful on me. Dry: This is such a soft, innocent scent on me. It's lovely. Timeless. I feel like I could wear it anywhere. It's a keeper for sure. Very light on dry down, hard to describe or pick out notes. I do wish it was stronger on dry down. Creamy, powdery, clean classic floral is all I can think of to describe it, but that doesn't nearly do it justice.

    Pink Lace

This was the last Lace I hadn't tried - to be honest, not sure I will like it, but I thought that about some others and have loved all but Summer. Wet: The "Lace" scent is unmistakeable, but there is this plastic strawberry thing happening over top of it that is icky. I do struggle with fruit notes going plastic sometimes. Hope it settles on my skin as it warms! Dry: Well crap, I left this too long before going back to sniff it, and it's faded away to nothing. No clue whether I like the dry down or not! (it was getting there, last time I sniffed). I can say though that it doesn't last long at all. I shall give it a proper full day wear.
