Wet: I LOVE white rose, it is the epitome of nostalgia for me. This is sweet and lovely, as I expect white rose to be. The oakmoss gives it earthy depth with a hint of aquatic (oakmoss always smells damp to me). Super happy the oudh isn't the stanky kind, this is just earthy and woody. Dry: This dries very faint. Mostly sweet white rose with a hint of moss. It's nice, but it doesn't wow me, with so many other rose scents to choose from right now.

Wet: Lots of earthy patchouli. I usually like patchouli with currant, but this needs some aging I think. It's very dry and somewhat bitter. The rose only barely peeks through. At least the oudh doesn't smell like poo? Dry: This dries more as I expected - fruity currant and patchouli with rose. I think it will be really great with age - in the same vein as Black Moths. I think I will wait and test it again in a few weeks before I make any decisions - the patch is still a little dry and dusty for my taste.

This was the rose I was most excited to try out of the dozen. I need both more fig and more apricot in my life. I ALMOST blind bottled it. Almost. Wet: WTF? This smells like none of the listed notes on me. It's earthy, and kind of bitter. No sweet fig, no tart apricot. I don't even get much rose....? I don't know what I am smelling. Something super earthy and a bit green. Dry: This goes through many stages, none of them smelling like anything I would have expected. The end stage is a powdery fruity scent that I am having trouble pinning down. I sure don't love it. I got a 1oz of the HG in this scent also, hopefully it's better in that format on me.

Wet: Oooh that's pretty! I have to agree with Roseus, this is a bright warm rose. Sweet and rich as well. I was worried about the Frank. It's likely to amp up as it dries and ruin this, but right now it's lovely and balanced. The rose is golden, the Frank is golden, it's all very golden and glowing. Dry: This is actually really gorgeous. Sweet rose and rich vanilla. The Frank doesn't steal the show for once, just adds to the richness, sweetness, and glowing quality that this has. I kind of love it. May need a bottle.

Thank you to the lovely who sent me some of this to test! <3 Wet: Mmmmm. I LOVE the smell of the woods. The actual woods that I hike in. Nothing makes me happier. The smell of "woods perfumes" though? Typically cat pee on me. But this. THIS. This is everything. It's so real. It's so rich, and warm. I really wish I knew the exact notes (I am not missing them somewhere, am I??) so I could know which evergreen this is that DOESN'T smell like pee on my skin. It's not pine. I don't get cedar. Maybe cypress? A hint of juniper? I am guessing. I thought maybe some opoponax for a sec, because there was a hint of that wonderful "cola" thing it does, but now I am not sure. Maybe galbanum or olibanum instead - regardless, something resinous. This is making me want to be outside so much! (We had an ice storm this weekend, I am feeling really cooped up. Maybe making me appreciate the scent even more? Hmm). Dry: This is amazing. I think it's red cedar. That's what it reminds me of. There's a path in Presqu'ile Provincial Park that I love. It's lined with these old red cedars and it smells amazing. That's what this reminds me of. I could be totally crazy, but who cares. It smells wonderful and I am getting a bottle or 6. I did not expect to love this, I am so happily surprised! My wallet, however....

    Lune Noire

Wet: Much more pear than I was expecting! And soap. Pear soap. Candied pear soap? Hmmm. Orchid is coming through. It's a much sweeter orchid note than I am used to from the Lab, and a bit high-pitched. Nope! That's the gardenia mixing with the orchid that I am smelling. Gardenia loves to do this "hair spray" thing on me. This is full-on eighties. I kind of dig it. Man it's sweet though! The pear really smells candied on me. Dry: I wanted to love this. I don't. It dries down to essentially a pretty fruity pale floral. It's not bad in any way, it just doesn't wow me. At this point I am so overrun with perfume that something has to wow me to make it into the collection....

    The Smiling Spider

Love clove and mahogany. Back musk is iffy. Worried the patchouli will ruin this on me. Wet: Wow, this is a dirty (in a good way - like naughty dirty) clove scent! Really gritty. Black leather and clove cigarettes, for sure. Makes me really want a cigarette, actually (not that it smells like smoke!). Wow, there is so much spicy clove in this that the spot where I am testing it is warm. Not a full on reaction, just a "warming" sensation. I have never had any reaction to clove before. It's getting warmer though...and I am getting worried. Smells great! Clove mainly, I don't really get the other notes. It's sweet though. Dry: The musk finally comes through, bringing this into full on sexy-man territory on me. Very sexy, clove cigarette smoking man. Mmm. I love it. I have no idea if I want to wear it. But I sure want to smell a man wearing it....I think it's a keeper.

    The Gladdener of All Hearts

Wet: Soft powdery honey skin musk with herbal notes swirling around. Interesting. It's very light. I love that honey musk note, but something in there is bitter and peppery and making me wrinkle my nose. And it's taking over. Dry: I don't love this, but I don't hate it. Kinda "meh" about it. The honey musk is utterly lovely. But there's something else not great in there. Needs a full day wear.

    The Golden Hour

Wet: This is such a beautiful warm, glowing scent. I get a lot of glowing amber and some warm woods (oak? reminds me of Haloes). I get hints of a cleanish vanilla as well. Maybe it's a vanilla musk. This is so so beautiful. I like it way more as a perfume than I did as an atmo. There is something musky in this. Reminds me a bit of Lyonesse - maybe ambergris? I think that's where I am getting the clean vibe from (or maybe "fresh" is a better word?). This is exactly my kind of scent, I put it in the same category as Edith Cushing - that elegant, refined, more than just a "vanilla" vanilla perfume. Dry: This is pure heaven on me. Doesn't morph really as it dries, though perhaps the amber and woods die down and the vanilla and musk/ambergris come forward. A generous soul gave me a tester of it ages ago. I tested it (but somehow didn't review it, which is not like me) and fell in love and was immediately DISO. I am so grateful now to have a bottle, but I love it SO MUCH that I know I will be seeking out a backup. This type of scent is as close as I get to a signature scent. It's so beautiful, and I am so happy to have it.

    Nevar

Wet: Lots of opium. Like, tons of it. ALLLL the opium. And a bit of plum. I thought the violet would be my issue, instead it's the opium that is crazy strong, and not particularly great on me. Dry: This calms down a lot. The plum comes through nicely, and it sweetens up. It's still a lot more opium than I typically wear, but I do kind of like it! Reminds me of a less "clean" version of Stormclouds Over the Midway, which I love. I think I may keep it and see how often I reach for it. I also ADORE the label art for this series. Makes it harder to give up on a scent...
  11. Autumn Coolness shares a couple notes ' "Autumn Coolness - The scent of wisteria, Cymbidium, lotus blossom, and cassia buds drifting on a breeze through gently swaying bamboo reeds" Or maybe Consoling Pussy of Horse Face Mountain - Tuberose incense, blue wisteria, and oakmoss. Or you could just get the atmo and spray it all over your clothes, as many do, thus wearing it as a personal scent. Oh, i love consoling pussy ( )! It was the first bpal i tried that made me love tuberose, initiating a mad search for all tuberose scents. And autumn coolness sounds so beautiful, i think it's on my wishlist but if not it def is going on. And i would not have thought to do this with an atmo, that sounds like a whole new avenue of possibility is opening up... They're totally fine on cloth, I spray my sheets and scarves all the time. Not gonna lie, I have sprayed myself before too. And my hair. Spray all the things!!

    Emerald Lace

Thank you to my wonderful fairy for snagging this for me! <3 Wet: Green apple and soap. But only for a second, and then it smells like grass. The sweet, creamy tobacco, vanilla and cognac underneath could only be a Lace scent. Mmm. I was worried about the opium, but it's not amping and dominating yet. This is VERY green, but I do love that. And I love the complexity that the Lace base gives it. I do wish the fig came through a bit stronger. But it's lovely. Dry: This is beautiful. As it dries the green gets less pungent. The sweetness of the cognac and tobacco come through beautifully, and I think I do smell a bit of creamy fig. Lovely!! Can't wait to wear it in warmer weather.

    Dragon-Smooched Snake Oil

I don't even remember ordering this. I am not kidding, I am pretty sure I sleep shopped....anyway, really glad to have it, so go sleeping me? (But srsly, why didn't you get 4??) Wet: Yes, that is some very patchy SO!! Though as usual in SO, the patch behaves soooo well on my skin. There's something almost peppery happening here too - DB is sometimes "spicy" on me, so maybe that? SO is always sweet on me, I can't say I am picking up extra honey. It's interesting. Not what I was expecting. Can't say that I love that pepperiness I am getting... Dry: the weird peppery DB dies down a bit, but it's still there. Other than that, it's patchouli heavy Snake Oil on m. I actually like Snake's Kiss quite a bit better, HOWEVER, I am going to age this and reserve full judgment until then.

    Being, Like, Really Smart

I have recently come to adore Labdanum and opoponax, and lavender is my fave sleep smell, so I had to get this. Plus, it's hilarious and for a good cause. Wet: lots of lavender, and that cola smell that both labdanum and opoponax do on me (which I love!) So, lavender and sweet sticky coke. It actually smells fantastic. The sweetness of it keeps it from being too "dark" for me to want to wear to bed, so far (I bought this with the intention of it being a bedtime scent, as I go through those the most). Dry: The lavender fades a bit, and the opoponax comes out on top (I think, I actually can't really differentiate it from labdanum, I don't think?). It's still very soporific to me, and I still plan to sleep in it. It's a murky thick, rich, slow scent, mildly creepy. Love it!

Wander Darkling in the Eternal Space

To be honest, I am not expecting to like this. Patchouli and I aren't getting on well lately, Myrrh and I are love-hate and vetiver is always iffy. But the other notes are gold on me, and I adore the name, so here we are! Lol. Wet: Patchouli (dry and dirty and not pleasant, as it likes to be on my skin) quickly overtaken by Myrrh. The Myrrh is not quite as "stomp all over everything" as usual, but it's still pretty dominant. It is actually not mixing well with the patch on me. So it smells like dirty Myrrh. Not the worst thing I have tried, but not good either. Dry: Not bad at all. Sweet Myrrh, mostly. Just a hint of patchouli (not as dry and unpleasant now). I like it OK, but I don't LOVE it. Going to age it a while and see if it changes before I let it go.

    Six Geese-a-Laying

Five Golden Rings Four Calling Birds Three French Hens Two Turtle Doves and a Partridge in a Pear Tree A ploop of tentacle-green mint, wet juniper, gum mastic, puckered bergamot, cardamom pod, thyme, and vetiver. Wet: I was drawn in by the interesting sounding combo of mastic and cardamom, but so far this is all about the mint and juniper - smells like gin with mint in it, it's very pleasant. It's quite a light scent so far, clean and refreshing. I am quite enjoying it, though I don't know that it would be something I want to wear. More than anything I want to drink it... Dry: The crook of my arm where I have applied this has gotten super cold from the mint! This is definitely refreshing! I really like the combo of mint and juniper. I can't detect the vetiver at all. I do think I get tiny bits of some herbal/spice notes, but nothing I could for sure identify. This is extremely pleasant, clean and refreshing. I don't often reach for mint scents, but if I did, I could see this being a go-to. A must try if you love mint or juniper! This would really having a cooling effect on a hot summer day (seriously, my arm is COLD).

    Dragon Mlerm Hair Gloss

Vanilla marshmallow apricot poof. Really? No one has reviewed this yet? The label plus the name of this is hilarious to me. I am having a hard time describing the initial scent. It doesn't smell like marshmallow to me. Very candy-like, but I can't think of the candy it smells like. It's extremely yummy. But I just can't place it. WAIT! Cream Soda? Yep, it kind of smells like cream soda to me. Or maybe those cream soda fruit snacks? Delicious, and super fun. I can't stop sniffing it. Now that I've thought cream soda, I can't get that out of my head. I'm not mad at it, I think it's one of the neatest things I've ever smelled. The marshmallow does come out a bit as it dries in my hair. It's pretty freakin spectacular. I don't actually know how much I will wear it - I don't typically do these types of scents, but I will for sure keep the bottle, even if I do make some decants out of it to share. Really grateful to my fairy for getting this for me!! <3

    Dalliances by Candlelight

I cannot resist beeswax dominant scents. Or honey dominant scents. But patchouli and I aren't getting along well lately. Though white patchouli works for me in a few things, including Wan White Humming Hive, which also features beeswax. Hoping I love this as much! Wet : Honeyed woody patchouli and beeswax. Gorgeous. Instant love. It's a really warm scent. I always find beeswax so comforting, I reach for it all the time. Dry: Beeswax heaven! Beeswax with honey is magic on my skin. The patchouli just gives it a bit more depth once dry. I adore this. I will likely snag a back up - I really do reach for my beeswax scents most, and the thought of running out of them is painful. I am so grateful to Beth - aromatherapy really works for me, and beeswax is a big part of that!

    The Pleasure of Aristocratic Women

These notes are all favourites except for the almond, which is typically super strong on me but then disappears, so hoping this will be a big win! Smells like straight up almond in the bottle. Wet: Super sugary honeyed almond. With something sort of clean and cottony in the background. Weird, but quite pleasant! The almond is already fading. Dry: This dries down to a lovely sort of clean sweet amber fragrance with a touch of teak. Reminds me a bit of a couple of the other Lupers this year that I like a lot -must be a similar amber note. Anyway, I ADORE amber, so this is a keeper for me. Not what I was expecting, but will be keeping and loving the bottle.

A Wicked Old Screw Hair Gloss

Cedar, cracked leather, a bent twopence, and pipeweed. This is sprayed on my sleeve, as I already have HG in my hair. The cedar is so warm and earthy, it almost smells like patchouli for a second! No pencil shavings here, thank goodness. Either the leather or the metal is a bit chemical smelling, but not too bad. There's some sweetness from the pipeweed. This is mostly cedar though. It's really nice! Something is giving it an almost spicy feel. It's a very warm, glowing type of wood scent. I expect this will change a bit with age, I usually find that happens with cedar, it calms down after a year or two. I don't wear a ton of woody scents, but this is nice, and I am glad to have it to go with my few woody perfumes, but it's not really me, and I don't foresee wearing it a ton, and I think that was the longest run-on sentence I have ever written, but clearly I can't decide how I feel about this. This is unique - mostly cedar, hints of leather, a sense of warmth, a touch of sweetness. I like it. If you like woody smells, I would recommend this. This scent is not hamster approved, none of those horrid cedar shavings here!

    Lucille's Room

This review topic is for the perfume that was available on Etsy. A room of cobalt hues, shadowed, with walls adorned innumerable pinned butterflies and moths. Lilac water, fossilized black amber, lily of the valley, violet leaf, and oakmoss. I love the atmo, and was so excited to score a bottle of the perfume on Etsy Wet: Lilac. Gorgeous. The lilac stand out on my skin much better than in the atmo. That gorgeous black amber note backs it up. On me, Thomas Sharpe was all black amber with the faintest hint of lilac. This is sort of the reverse on me. Lilac, with wafts of black amber. GORGEOUS. Dry: I am always searching for my ultimate lilac scent, and I thought, based on the atmo, that this would be it. But the violet leaf lends this just the slightest bitter edge on my skin, and I am still deciding whether or not I like that. Also, the black amber, which I assumed I would amp, because I always do, is barely present. I do like it, but once it's dry I don't love it as much as the atmo. It will need further testing.

    Snake's Kiss

I've been dying to try this!! But Snake Oil always needs aging for me to truly love it, so I held off as long as I possibly could before the temptation became to great. Wet: OMG, this is the shit. I adore honey. I adore vanilla cream. I adore sugar. And I love Snake Oil all the things. It's like this was made for me. I can smell that it still needs to age to be magic. The Snake Oil is kind of fresh and sharp under all that sexy honeycomb and vanilla cream. But this is EVERYTHING. I need a backup. Maybe more. There are few bottles I have 3 of - this may need to be one of them. I know it's not even dry yet, but just trust me and go get some. WAIT! No. It's turning awful. Like hideous. Don't buy any. Here, just give me yours, you'll hate it....(is lying) Dry: This is everything. Honeycomb forward (a sexy, sticky, lush honey note) with vanilla cream right behind, and just a touch of Snake Oil once dried (though I bet it gets stronger with age). This is amazing, and every time I catch a whiff from my arm I am happy. Hoard worthy! get some before it's gone or be sorry - I predict this one will be hard to come by later.

    Alabaster Vulva

Wet: In the bottle, this is terrifying. It smells like oudh, which is to say, it smells like poo. Smells like poo as it's going on also, but almost as soon as it hits my skin it smells like sweet powdery orris. I often dislike orris, as it typically smells like violet on me (which makes sense in a roundabout way, as it's the root of an iris, and iris smells like violet on me). ANYWAY, I digress. The orris in this doesn't smell like violet, it smells lighter, cleaner - I think because it's mixed with a lovely cool vanilla and pale amber. It's very light on me. I have had to add a drop more to really smell it. It's quite nice though! Very feminine and refined. Pretty, if still a touch powdery. For some reason I feel like it reminds me of Pip? (after looking up notes and seeing Pip has iris in it, that makes more sense to me). Dry: Ugh! I can't get over the weird oudh/poo smell that I get in the waft of this! Nose to skin, I can identify that what I am really smelling is orris. But the silage is icky. Sad! Most of the Vulvas are awesome on me. I think I will age this a year before I give up on it.

    Memorials of Friendship

Wet: Peach, with neroli's bitter edge. It's not unpleasantly bitter here though, as it often is. Actually, maybe "peppery" would be a better word for what I am getting in this instance, rather than bitter. Yes, very peppery. So much so that I just re-checked the notes to see if pepper was listed. My guess is it's the combo of neroli and champaca creating this pepperiness. I wanted to try this because of peach musk and ambergris - I smell neither. Dry: This dries really pretty. Simple, but pretty. Sweet fruity musk with hints of incense and floral. It's very very light on me though. If this were stronger, I would be tempted to get a bottle, it really is lovely and super wearable. But I can smell no silage, and I have to stuff my face into my elbow to even get a whiff, so this one is sadly not for my skin. Really pretty though! I bet the musk and ambergris age well also.

    Knee Bolster of Ono

Wet: Lilac, and a sort of candied blueberry scent. There's something weird around the edges of the lilac, I can't really pinpoint it, but I could smell it straight out of the bottle. It made me wonder if there was jasmine in this, as it mostly smells like pee. It's not quite the cat pee scent of jasmine though, more like "kids sits on your lap and promptly pees their pants" pee (yes, that happens to me. My job is super glamorous.) Combined with the blueberry candy scent, the imagine I am getting is very childlike, but not in a god way. This is doing weird things on my skin - I blame orris and sage, both of which are iffy on me. Dry: This goes through a nice lilac and fruit phase before settling into a mostly blueberry (very sweet blueberry, maybe more like jam than candy? Either way, not fresh blueberry) with just a hint of lilac. Thankfully, no pee. Still, not something I would reach for. Glad I got to try it though!
