    Dens of Sin Hair Gloss

I have used this a few times and keep forgetting to review it. It was an instant buy for me, I adore the combo of oak and tobacco. The bourbon is great in this. I find it totally unisex, I don't feel it's too masculine for me. It's fantastic. Lovers of oak and tobacco must try! It's quite sexy.

    Sinkhole

Every single note in this is one that I love (except maybe tar? I guess it depends what kind of tar) so I have high hopes for this. Wet: I already knew that dirt and opoponax was an amazing combo. But throw in some grass and dandelions and this is AMAZING. Think cola + dandelions. Come on, just the thought makes you smile, right? So good. I don't drink much cola anymore, but it's such a nostalgic, happy smell. The grass and dandelions makes it even more so. This just totally smells like childhood and I love it. It makes me really happy every time I sniff it. Wet: The opoponax settles and is less cola like and more resinous. The dandelion and grass take on a "sun warmed" sort of quality. This is amazing. I love it.

    Lavender Lace

It's taken me ages to actually review this, as I already knew I loved it. I knew because it leaked all over my package from my decantress and I smelled it for days. LOL. Wet: Lots of herbal lavender (but not so herbal that it gets astringent, like it sometimes does at first) and that unmistakable vanilla/tobacco/cognac Lace scent underneath. This actually smells a lot like Black Lace to me, only with the addition of Lavender. It's like the Lab has boiled down the essence of a "Lace" scent and dumped lavender in it. Brilliant. Dry: More lace (heavy on the tobacco) and less lavender, but still absolutely gorgeous. The most recent Laces (Solstice, Krampus, Emerald) have utterly rocked my world. So glad I grabbed two of these. I don't normally wear lavender other than to bed, but this is way too good for bedtime.

    The Eternal Virgin

Wet: Oooh that's pretty. Reminds me of something. Can't put my finger on it. It smells like none of the listed notes to me, it's so well blended it's become a Thing Of It's Own. Spicy, sweet, perfumey. Sweet, but somehow dry at the same time. Lovely. I don't have anything that smells like this. Dry: Mmm. I honestly can't pick out the carnation from the cardamom here. It's sweet and creamy, but I also don't think I could pick out honey or milk as a note either. If you didn't tell me what was in this I would be seriously stumped. But I would love it. I can't describe it, but if you like sweet, creamy, slightly spicy and perfumey indescribable scents, go try it for yourself!

    The Initiatrix

Wet: I love sweet sugary rose scents. This has a bit of a twist. The benzoin smells like a syrupy vanilla in this. It's so pretty. Sweet, innocent. I told myself no more sugary rose scents, I have enough. But this just jumped in my cart! Dry: This seems to be one of those "much more than the sum of its parts" sort of perfumes. I don't know that I have ever smelled red benzoin before, but it's the star here. It comes across as a rich, syrupy, sugary vanilla. It blends perfectly with the rich rose. I had almost convinced myself that I didn't need to keep this because Un, Cinq and Hope are all sugary rose scents I own, but I don't know if I an part with this....I sense some death matches coming up.

    Advice of the Dead

Wet: Earthy, sort of woody, warm and golden. Hard to describe, but it's really lovely. Very different. Dry: This is a gorgeous golden resinous scent, with warm sweet florals and hints of earth. I love it. I was not expecting to. I haven't liked copal much in other scents, but it is the star here and it's gorgeous mixed with Myrrh. The chrysanthemums are beautiful. I can't really pick out marigold, which is OK because they smell terrible on me. The soil smells warm and dry rather than wet, giving the whole scent a "end of summer, beginning of fall: golden sunset" sort of feel, if that makes any sense. I am trying to be on a no to low buy, but I have to have more of this, MOAR.

    Lycanthrope for Your Life

I don't do Whiskey perfume well. No clue why, I love actual Whiskey. But I could not resist the Cardamom or the Fig Cream, so here we are....trying not to get my hopes up. Wet: The throw is massive at first and immediately reminds me of My Little Grotesque, likely my fave Cardamom perfume so far. But then shit gets....weird. Like, what is that? Smells kind of like that banana medicine I had to take way too often as a kid. WTF? Gotta be the whiskey. But there is also something....sprucey? Or maybe more like juniper - like some Gin got in there too. No...that's not it. I don't know what I am smelling. Dry: OK, this settles and is not longer weird. It's light creamy fig with a touch of cardamom. I should love it, but somehow I just don't. I often struggle with cream notes, they just don't sit well on my skin, taking on a faint "scorched" quality. I have cardamom scents I like better, I have fig scents I like better...I am trying to be ruthless with my collection, so this will likely go. May age it a few months longer just to be sure.

    Drag is for Everyone

I don't like Frankincense much. But bourbon vanilla skin musk and the promise that this will magically work on everyone lured me in! Lol. Wet: Imagine the flawless gorgeous skin musk that is Neutral - BUT BETTER. Cleaner, softer, even more "no this is just what I smell like, I swear!". Yessss. I will slather this on before work and NO ONE WILL KNOW and that gives me such weird pleasure. Dry: I adore this. I never really smell any Frank, just the best skin musk in all of history. It's clean, a touch sweet, subtle, perfect. I love it. It's not flashy or anything. It's not even going to catch anyone's attention. But I can wear it to work and feel amazing and not have the scent police come for me, and that is EVERYTHING to me. So happy to have a bottle! (Thank you, Sara! <3 )

    Fresh, Fruity Florals

    Adding Anthe to this list!
  10. LizziesLuck

    Anthe

Wet: Fruit and frost and dust. Some sort of sweet floral. Very interesting. The frost is somewhat piney to my nose. Dry: Once this settles the hint of pine totally disappears and this is chilly berry floral goodness. I dig it. I would normally say "I need more!" but I have put myself on a very low buy, so we shall see!

    The Octopus on the Lake

Wet: Vetiver. WHAT?? Maybe the "smoked" aspect of the smoked khus is vetiver? Because I swear that's all I smell. Very disappointing. I wanted tobacco, musk, opoponax. All favourites. I get none on my skin. They're there, in the bottle. But on me? Vetiver. *sigh*. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate vetiver, it has it's place. I adore it in Lamia, Death Adder, Wulric. But here, on me, it just smells...dirty. Sad! Dry: I have found something in common among almost all my scents - they have at least a touch of sweetness. Whether it's from musk, a resin...there is some sweet in there. There is no sweet in this on me. In the bottle I get the musk and opoponax. On me - smoky gritty vetiver. No sweet tobacco. SAD. Hopefully someone else will love you, little perfume!

    Eve (With Sage Fuck Up)

I was wearing regular Eve earlier (the new release) so I am trying this with that fresh in my memory. So far it smells the same, but maybe not as strong? (I do think Eve in general needs some aging to come into her full glory). I have never smelled rose strongly in Eve. I can't say that I am really smelling the sage here either - it just smells like Eve. Which is beautiful. Maybe ever so slightly more herbal? Once dry, it really just smells like Eve to me. Which is totally fine, I love Eve. So I will keep it as a back up, or perhaps swap it for a regular Eve if someone else happens to love this better. Either way. Not a fail, but not the "new and different Eve" I thought it would be either.

    ICDX 11

Fresh out of the mail! I just got this from the Lab's Etsy. There were a ton of protos on there - I have no idea why it was this one that called to me so loudly. But it did. In the bottle: Whoa grapefruit! Shit. In theory, I quite like the smell of grapefruit! It's zesty and refreshing. But once it hits my skin, it gets real ugly, real fast. Wet: For a brief moment, it's fresh, zingy, bright - everything you would want from a lovely (pink, I think) grapefruit scent! And then my chemistry starts to grab hold of it and turn it into something bitter and nasty. It also amps the grapefruit (now turned horridly bitter, as predicted) to high heaven, making it really difficult to pick out other notes. But I think I detect some mint. I am also getting a lot of sweetness, which is helping to counter some of that bitterness my skin pulls out of the grapefruit. This is actually much nicer than any other grapefruit blend has ever been on me - as it dries, the bitterness fades and this is....actually kind of nice?? Dry: I was crazy, re: mint. There's no mint in this. This is all citrus, all day. It's actually really good. It's sweet and creamy. Kind of like candied grapefruit rind. There's still a hint of bitterness that I don't care for, due to my chemistry (without exception, I just can't do grapefruit). But if it weren't for my chemistry, this would be awesome. It reminds me a bit of Jiggery Pokery (just in the same vein) which is a sweet, creamy orange on me. So, long story short, I get sweet creamy grapefruit! I will have to swap this (boo skin!). Kind of sad about that, for some reason I just really thought this would be a "me" blend. Oh well, you win some, you lose some!

    Kit

This is from the re-release Wet: Sandalwood and...bananas? NO! Wood varnish. No, bananas was closer....WTF AM I SMELLING? I think it's the combo of benzoin and ink, both familiar but combining to be so unique on me. I am not at all sure how I feel about it, but I tell ya I have not smelled a thing like it. Dry: I think mostly sweet benzoin with hints of sandalwood. Quite nice! Not what I was expecting - though I am not sure what I was expecting. It's quite unique still but at least identifiable now (no bananas, ha ha). I will see how it ages. Not sure I would wear it, but I'll keep my decant in a bottle for hoarding....erm, I mean collecting purposes.

    The Magician’s Wand

Wet: SWOON. Imagine Haloes with the addition of sweet skin musk. AMAZING. I also gets whiffs that reminds me of Aradia, others that remind me of Haloes - it's that oak and vanilla combo that is TO DIE FOR. I swear the "inner fire" is skin musk. It's so lovely and pretty. If you though this might be masculine with all the woods (like in the way that Antikythera is sort of masculine) that is not the case. This is sweet and feminine on me. As it dries it's more like Haloes than Aradia, in that it is softer and more innocent (Aradia is sexy as hell on me). Dry: This is so light on me and it fades so quickly!! So sad. It was utterly stunning while it lasted, musky vanilla woods. Just beautiful. I'll be getting a bottle to age, hoping it lasts longer and is stronger as it ages.

    Four Calling Birds

Three French Hens Two Turtle Doves and a Partridge in a Pear Tree Screeching pink peppercorn, a squawk of rose geranium, black patchouli, bois de rose, and prune. I love pink peppercorn, hope it's prominent here! Wet: Blah! I had totally forgotten that rosewood sometimes goes horribly sour on me! That is what is happening here. Ick. Hoping it will settle as I smell some sweet fruit and spicy floral notes in the throw that are quite beautiful, but nose to skin this is all sour wood. Dry: The bois de rose eventually settles a bit, but is still rather sour. I can smell the geranium quite strongly now. I can't pick out the pepper specifically, but there is some spice to it. It's got an interesting spicy/fruity/floral/woody thing happening though. I think this would be really lovely on someone else's skin, or perhaps even with some age on my skin. Right now it's still just a bit too sour for me.

    The Magician’s Robes

Wet: The mixture of red musk and labdanum is strong, rich, syrupy sweet, almost fruity and with a touch of cola-like effervescence. I pretty much love it instantly and am wondering why I didn't get a bottle - oh right, oudh! And Frankincense. Both of which are so iffy on me, and neither of which are detectable in this yet. This is really strong, tons of throw. I really do somewhat love it. I've really been gravitating towards labdanum and opoponax lately! (They're somewhat similar on me). Dry: The red musk gradually just inches out the labdanum for dominance as this dries, but the labdanum is still very present. I really love this. I have so many red musk blends, but I may convince myself I need more of this. It's sweet, sultry and rich. So very wearable. Decent throw, good wear length. Really great.

    The Storyteller

Beeswax and campfire smoke? Yes please! Instant blind bottle Wet: This is the same amazing smoke note from Baby's First Krampuslauf. Mixed with sweet beeswax and woods, it's divine. I was a bit worried about the leather, but it's the soft worn kind I like, very subtle. This is mostly about the smoke and sweet woods. It's amazing. Makes me want to go start a bonfire. Dry: This is soft and subtle hours later, but still very present. Gorgeous sweet smoke and woods. Like the most perfect bonfire. I love it. I have nothing even remotely like it.

    The Magician’s Garden

Wet: Super sweet and heady Lily. Hints of soap and wet cardboard. Charming. It's getting better as it settles on my skin. It's very heady. Dry: ALL THE LILY. And just a wee touch of soap. Nice soap though. Or maybe not even, maybe I am just thinking of a soap that smelled like lily, yea know? Anyway, I can't remember what Rose of Sharon smells like (I do remember though that it does NOT smell like rose) but I would be hard pressed to pick out any other floral in this anyway. All Lily, all day. It's pretty. And I don't even like Lily! So if you love Lily, you had best try this I think.

    Perfumey scents

I love "perfumey" scents a lot. Here's my list: Ava, Media, Liz, Lady Death: Savage, Mabel, Inez, A Dusty Moth, Cemetery Creep, Closet Raid. I am sure I am missing a few....

    Sept Hair Gloss

I think this smells even better than the perfume did on me (and I really liked it - I should likely get a bottle!). The rose is really syrupy and sweet, which I love. The Frankincense doesn't take over. The whole scent is sunny and golden and sweet. I really like it a lot.

L'Essence de la Passion Hair Gloss

I had this perfume a while ago, and it never quite suited me when I wore it. So I just got a little 4ml of the gloss to see if I would like it better in this format. It smells different than I remember- much less carnation and more red musk. Like, super musky red musk. That plus honey is about all I get, I can't even smell the carnation. I like the Poem Cloud HG better for my red musk and honey fix.

    Dana O'Shee Bath Oil

In Irish folklore the Dana OShee are a fae, elven people that live in a realm of beauty, their nobility akin to our that own Age of Chivalry, eternally beautiful and eternally young. They surround themselves with the pleasures of the Arts, they live for the hunt, and to this day can be seen riding in procession through the Irish countryside at twilight, led by their King and Queen. However, the Dana OShee are not benevolent creatures, despite what their unearthly beauty may imply. They are vengeful and treacherous and possess a streak of mischievous malice, and many have whispered that their true home lies deep in the shadowed groves of the Realm of the Dead. Hearing even a single chord of their otherworldly music leaves one stunned and lost to the mortal realms for ever, finding themselves prey to the Dana OShees hunt or enslaved in their Court as servants or playthings. Offerings of milk, honey and sweet grains were made to placate these creatures, and it is that the basis of the scent created in their name. I have JUST started using bath oils for their original purpose - in the bath! It turns out I LOVE using them this way, OMG they make my skin so soft!! Dana was not very strong in the bath itself, but was lovely on my skin afterward. As such, I think I will keep this one as a moisturizer and use some of the stronger scents in the bath. This is totally true to the perfume, they smell identical to my nose. Honey with milk and hints of something nutty (to my nose it's like almond). I <3 Dana and I glad to now have the BO and HG!!

    Vampire Tarot: Temperance

The person I purchased this from actually had found the listed notes (I will link once I find them again myself!). I bought this because they were pretty much all win for me, but especially opoponax. That's what I smell most strongly in the bottle. Wet: Opoponax and patchouli. Dark, sticky and sweet. Doing a bit of that cola thing opoponax does, which I love. There is something else in this too that is familiar, but I can't put my finger on it, nor can I remember from the notes. Maybe a gritty dark musk? Dry: Sadly this sort of disappeared. Partially my fault as I threw on a hoodie and I think rubbed off the test patch of this on my inner elbow. Will require further testing. Man do I love that opoponax though!

    Rivet.Goth

I love tobacco and musk, but some of these other notes are pretty iffy for me. Leather can be OK. But rust could be metal, and that never works for me... Wet: At first it's all chemically leather. Then it quickly morphs into cologne. Then the machine oils amps up and it smells like my grandpa similarly to how Streets does. It's turned into quite a pleasant smell, but SUPER masculine to me. I am liking it more and more as it dries, but having a hard time imagining wearing it. Dry: Dries down to a very serious leather scent. Like, for serious leather lovers. Which I really am not. So while I can appreciate this, it will be rehomed to someone who will love it for the leather glory it is.
