In my mind, knowing what notes I amp, this was going to be dirt and lavender. Which I was totally fine with, as I planned to wear it to bed, and dirt and lavender are two of my fave bedtime scents. But this is just so much more than I ever could have imagined. There's such feeling that accompanies this scent. It's a scent warmed by the sun. It evokes the sounds of a child's laughter (possibly due to the lovely label photo as well) and I honestly can feel the love in this blend. I can't identify the wildflowers, and I don't care. They're beautiful. The grass comes through as well, and it morphs over time. It's freshly cut when the oil is wet, and then as it dries, it's almost as if the grass dries with it. Something sweet emerges over time. The lavender is always in the background, as if there's just a faint whiff of it on the wind. There's an earthiness as well, but not an overwhelming dirt or leaves smell. This is absolutely beautiful and almost makes me cry happy tears, I think as a result of reading Puddin's write up that accompanied the scent. The whole Fatherhood line (the parts that I have) is amazing beyond all expectations. This scent is no exception, and I will treasure it.

Wet - Whoa clove! It smells almost burnt, yet soapy and powdery at the same time. Dry: Spicy fruit. The clove layers beautifully over the currant. It took me a while to figure out what this reminds me of, but it's The Phantom Calliope. Very different notes, but something about the dark fruit and spice lends them a similarity to my nose. I like Calliope better, and I already own it, so I won't need a bottle of this, but it's beautiful in its own right, nonetheless. Glad to have tried it!

Wet this smells like honey-lemon, as others have mentioned. Dry it is nondescript sweetness. Quite nice, but nothing special on me. I do think this would be perfect for layering.
-
Wet, this is all fake melon-grape and it's terrible. Dry, though, dry is a different story. It's light and fruity, sweet, without being overwhelming. Beautifully balanced. So well blended I'm having a hard time picking out the individual notes. I get a bit of the tea coming through. The melon and peach are pretty much indistinguishable from each other and just present as being sweet and fruity. I can't specifically smell the white rose, which is a bit sad, because it's a favourite of mine. Overall though, this is beautiful and light. Totally office appropriate. I will thoroughly enjoy wearing it with any number of perfume oils in spring and summer.
-
In the bottle, I definitely get the "snow" note. It's amazing how something can be made to smell cold without actually being cold! Wet on my skin this is all lilac, true lilac, like the bush beside my driveway. Just as I had hoped. Amazing. This is light an sweet, one of the most beautiful florals I own. I am sure it will get a lot of wear in the Spring especially.

I do love patchouli. But I had hoped for more coconut out of this, as I love coconut even more than I love patchouli. On me, this is a sweet warm patchouli. It's absolutely lovely, but does leave me wishing for more coconut. I am hoping the patchouli might mellow a bit by summer and let the coconut shine through a little. Either way, I am happy I got it and will be keeping my bottle.

Red Lantern is pretty much my holy grail BPAL scent. I had been on a hiatus for a few years, and was devastated when I returned to find I had missed out on this Atmo. Luckily I hunted one down on the forum, and now it is mine!!! Smells exactly like Red Lantern. Gorgeous smoky, almost boozey caramel and coconut. Sex in a (spray) bottle.

I received a free goblin squirt of this from the Post in my last order. I couldn't remember the notes at all, and was too lazy to look them up, so I just sprayed some on my sleeve and tried to figure it out. It's quite sweet, and I could pick up hints of incense, but mostly something floral and something else I couldn't place. When I did read the notes the rose geranium made complete sense, I think the sweetness is the benzoin, I don't know what the something I couldn't place was, I'm not familiar with either daemonorops or cinnabar accord, but I guessing it's the daemonorops as my understanding is that's part of the palm family, and that sort of makes sense to my nose. I don't really get anything spicy or that I could pick out as cinnabar accord, though granted I don't really know what that should smell like, and Google isn't helping me any. Anyway, I like this! I'm not sure if I would use it enough to warrant purchasing a bottle, but I am glad to have gotten to try it.

Alice is all creamy spicy carnation on me. Since you already mentioned you don't like spicy florals, it might not be for you. I adore it, but I love carnations. I was going to suggest Muse of Fire, but I see you're already hunted it down. My favourite florals are usually rose dominant, but it looks like you've got that base covered! I'm not going to be much help. So, just saying hi really, and wishing you good luck finding the perfect floral!

So. This is basically sex in a bottle. I want to bathe in this stuff. So I may have to get the bath oil too. Lol. Seriously though, super sexy on me. Smoky vanilla, patchouli that's almost sugared and not too overwhelming. I can't pick out the hemp once it's dry, but I think it's blended in there. This is just super sexy-sex, all the time. Dirty sexy, as opposed to clean and innocent sexy, if that makes any sense at all. That's really all I can do to describe it. The best thing would be for you to get yourself some and see what all the fuss is about. Totally worth it. (I may have been drinking at the time of this review. Cheers!)

There's a lot of caramel in the bottle - drowning out the coffee. Once I get it on my skin though, it's all coffee. Really strong black coffee, but sweetened by the Caramel. Not getting any vanilla. As it dries though, I do get some "pillowy vanilla" which is almost like Marshmallow on me. Mmmm. Chewy. Oh this is good. Real good. It goes a bit powdery eventually, but it's fresh out of the mail and my skin was dry and I threw on a sweater over it. I will test again, but I have a feeling it's a winner! ETA: Several hours later this is the most gorgeous warm coffee scent ever...LOVE!! I think my favourite of the three coffee scents I own (Café Mille et Une Nuit and The Turkish Village)

Om nom nom nom. Omg this is so good. It's the same glorious caramel and rum from Red Lantern. It makes me so happy! It's much foodier than Red Lantern, and doesn't have that sexy edge, but it's still amazing and I'm so happy to have it! It will be great with Captain Lilith Hair Gloss I think.

Dead Leaves, Patchouli, Honey & Warm Musk Hair Gloss
LizziesLuck replied to Silvertree's topic in Hair
This is lovely. Fresh on, it's a lot of musk (smells closest to red musk to me, but I'm not sure?), but the honey quickly comes out. The patchouli is mild, just grounding it, same as the dead leaves. This is really gentle, not overwhelming as I had feared it might be. The honey in it is amazing. I really love this. I can see it pairing well with a ton of different perfumes, and I feel like it will be work appropriate as well (I'm never sure with anything containing Patchouli). -
I love Dead Leaves and Red Musk both, so I had to give this a go. Especially after Puddin' raved about it. Unfortunately, what I didn't account for was the fact that I apparently don't like neroli. I had never been able to successfully pick it out in a blend before. I can in this though, and we are not friends. I find it sharp and bitter. Actually gives me a bit of a headache. Which is such a shame, because the red musk with the dead leaves are to die for. I will likely pass on my decant to someone who can love it. And now I have learned Neroli isn't for me, so this was a good lesson, I suppose.

A generous frimp from a lovely forumite. Straight off my wishlist! Wet, the sandalwood and peach really stand out. Something a bit sharp and bitter too, which I think is the osmanthus, but I'm not all that familiar. Dry, it's extremely well blended, to the point that I can't really pick out the individual notes, other than the peach, which is dominant on me. This is soft and feminine and beautiful. Not too sweet. Light throw. Would be beautiful for spring I think.

This is a generous frimp from a forumite, straight off my wishlist! I love roses. I am slowly doing my best to try every rose-dominant blend BPAL has to offer. Which is a lot. This is one is a very fresh, very red rose, with lots of greenery as well. Different than the sweeter white rose scents I often gravitate towards. No hint of going powdery or soapy thus far. Really lovely. I can't stop huffing my arm. This stays true fresh rose. Beautiful. May need a bottle.

If your top 5 scents are... Then try these!
LizziesLuck replied to Ella LaRose's topic in Recommendations
Other than the shared love of rose, we have quite different taste (Violet and I aren't friends), so I haven't necessarily smelled/liked all of these, just felt you might like them based on your scent preferences: 1. Ogygia (Wanderlust) - Sea air, kelp, and climbing vines, flame-singed cedarwood and juniper branches, cypress boughs, alder wood, violets, selino, parsley, glistritha, and white sage. 2. Marie (Diabolous) - sinuous violet and elegant tea rose 3. La Bella Donna Della Mia Mente (I love this one so much!) Soft, lush myrtle and dry, sweet melilot with wild rose, pomegranate juice and peach blossom against a background of deep aquatic notes and a twirl of melancholy autumn breezes. 4. Jezebel (This one is gorgeous) - honey, roses, orange blossom and sandalwood 5. Envy - Green herbs slithering through mint, lime and lavender Whatever you decide on, hope it ends up working well for you! -
Another glorious cake scent from the lab. I have yet to have anything "cakey" go seriously wrong on me. This is straight up cake with a bit or orange and just the faintest hint of anise. Gorgeous. Love!! So glad I tracked down a bottle.

Newbie here! Would love recommendations based off of notes I like!
LizziesLuck replied to Bich Hang Pham's topic in Recommendations
Based on your likes, here's a list of general catalogue or currently available limited edition scents: Foodie Eat Me - Three white cakes, vanilla, and red and black currants The Candy Butcher - Bittersweet chocolate with a heavy cream undertone. Cockagine - milk and honey, sweet cakes and wine. Halfling - Porridge, kukui nuts, and pastry crumbs. Dana O'Shee - Offerings of milk, honey and sweet grains I see others have made recommendations for coconut scents. I am a huge coconut lover. I've tried most of the Lab's general catalogue scents that contain coconut. Most of them were not what I was looking for. So I thought I would mention Death Cap - A warm, soft, ruddy scent, earthy and mild. I know it doesn't list coconut, but I swear it's in there. It's my favourite GC coconut scent. If you want to venture into LE's, Paper Kite is gorgeous coconut. Ivory Vulva is more of a coconut cookie on me. Both are glorious. Body, Remember is a more tropical coconut mixed with sweet florals. I am a dirt lover too. My GC faves are: Zombi - Dried roses, rose leaf, Spanish moss, oakmoss and deep brown earth Yorick - Grave dirt, bone, decay, angel's trumpet, and moldering scraps of shroud: the essence of finality. Hope you find some things you love! -
Wet, the leaves and roses are very green and fresh. Almost like stems instead of blooms, and not the lab's dead leaf note like I was expecting. Dry, the sweetness of the rose comes out more. This is not an autumnal smelling blend, like I expected, but it's beautiful nonetheless. I think I will really enjoy wearing it in Spring.

Harvest Moons 05 and 06 are two of my all-time fall favourites. They're a bit similar, but there are differences for sure. To me, 06 seems to have a hint of spiciness to it. I also happen to adore the label art on 06. Fall in a bottle!
-
One of my all-time favourite fall blends. I have 05 and 06, and they're different for sure, but I love them equally. To me, 05 is more floral, but just as fruity. Like fall in a bottle, to me.

Captain Lilith and her First Mate
LizziesLuck replied to tativa's topic in Black Phoenix Trading Post
This was a bit of an impulse buy for me. I got the hair gloss from the Post, and before it even got here, I was tracking down a bottle of the perfume to go with it. Based on the notes though, I didn't think this could possibly go wrong, and it didn't. On me, this is like a foodie, more innocent version of Red Lantern (which is my holy grail scent) so I am super stoked to have it in my collection. It's like a Red Lantern I can wear to work. Caramel, some coconut and a bit of rum. Gorgeous. Can't wait to get the Hair Gloss and wear them together!! -
Portrait of an Unidentified Man as Mephistopheles
LizziesLuck replied to darkchan's topic in Halloweenie
I was gifted some of this to try by a lovely forumite. Its not something I would have picked for myself, and I find I'm actually often most excited to try things I wouldn't have necessarily picked. I seldom wear anything with lavender during the day, so I decided to try this as a bedtime scent. In the bottle I so get a lot of lavender, but on my skin its all musk. As it dries the oakmoss comes out. I find this quite masculine on me. Its really nice though, I quite like it. Strong, good throw. Oddly enough, on one part of my arm it got mixed with some leftover Muddy Puddles I was testing, and the two smell devine together. Overall, this isn't really for me, but I'm grateful to have gotten to try it. I shall pay it forward to the next person in the spirit it was given to me, so someone else can test it too.- 13 replies

I had decided I didn't need this, as I have quite a few chocolate scents already. However, I ended up scoring a partial bottle of this, and I am so glad I did! This is great. Very different than my other chocolate scents. I don't get any marshmallow from this, but I'm ok with that. What I do get is a very dry hot chocolate scent. Almost like the hot chocolate powder before you actually make it into hot chocolate. It's not overly powdery, just dry, in a way that I really love. Great lasting power and throw. I love it! My partial will be enough for me, just because I do have so many other chocolate scents, but I am very glad to have this in my collection.
