    Phobos

Imp: Lemony with a shot of the bitter horror I know to be grapefruit. Wet: The white musk and lemon notes would be so crisp and nice for summer if only that grapefruit weren't lurking. Dry: It almost works but not quite. Off to Mr. Isis' test pile since I promised him I'd find some stuff for him in my huge test pile. He may like this.

    Hell's Belle

Imp: Spicy in a way that reminds me of chai. Wet: Spice and smoke mingling with the magnolia and oleander heavy with pollen, a very lush bouquet. Dry: The scents mingle more and it seems the spice is just a tiny bite and the smoke is something a tiny bit woody underneath. Very soft and mysterious.

    Chaos Theory V: Recursive Self-Similarity v1

CXCVII - What fun! A Victorian Mad Tea Party...Dorian with a twist of lime and a crispy plate of madelines. ETA - After wearing it in my locket all day I get a good dollop of honey too. I think the honey + vanilla maybe what is reading as cookies.

    Agapē

Bottle: A wonderful sugared cream note that makes me instantly happy. It reminds me of Milk Moon for some reason but sweeter. Wet: A nice tart apple that blends into a subtle fruitiness. It is a perfect fresh, juicy note. The vanilla cream remains very true to the bottle scent. Dry: The cream is richer but still sweetened with the fruits. There is a moment after about 10 minutes where I start to smell the sweet pea and think "oh no here is where it goes wrong" but is doesn't it just fades into the whole. I never really become aware of the carnation but that is ok. As much as I love carnation to much floral would make Agape more ordinary instead of extraordinary. Mr. Isis says: Smells like butterscotch candy.

    Magdalene

Imp: Mostly white rose with a little something else. I'm guessing the labdanum. I'm really getting the somber feel. Not a joyful rose. Wet: I get a bit of the orchid. Very wistful and rather faint. For some reason it is making me sneeze. Drydown: The rose really blossoms and the orchid lends a touch of the exotic. A very creamy rose which I love. I really like it but the sneeziness is a deal breaker. Off to the swap bag. Pity, it is a very pretty scent once it gets going.

    Philommeides

I ordered a bottle of this for a friend. To me it smelled deliciously like peach champagne...very effervescent. I don't usually care for fruity scents but somehow this managed not to have a fruity feel. Bright and playful it is a great cheer you up sort of scent.

    Shub-Niggurath

Imp: Ginger but also something a bit herbal and musty. Wet: Very unusual. I get something syrupy and sweet plus the gingersnaps and those odd herbs. Maybe a bit of frankincense. Dry: I actually can't decide if I like it or not. This is one to think on. I'm going to have to give it a full day's wearing to decide.

    Scherezade

This is just lovely. Warm and comforting with a touch of the exotic. Normally red musk doesn't work on me but here it really remains in balance with the other spices. Just a wonderful blend. Sexy but not over the top, somewhat close to the skin but not faint. I could really see picking up a bottle of this one.

    Hellcat

Imp: Very sweet and boozy, smells a bit of cherries or apricot brandy to me. Wet: There is the heavenly honey mead mixed with almond. Dry: I start to get more of the rum now but really is seems to morph from drink to drink. There is just the tiniest bit of grounding hazelnut. Buttercream I don't get by any stretch of my imagination.

    Grand Guignol

Very faint on me. I get a tiny bit of sweet apricot but nothing of the booze. Pretty but too close to the skin for my taste.

    Aeval

A raven-haired Fairy Queen of Ireland. One of her eternal duties dictates that she must hold a midnight court every season and hear the pleas of married Irishwomen. The court serves only to determine whether or not husbands are adequately serving their wife’s sexual needs. A judicious yet powerfully sensual blend, a mingling of justice and sexuality: sage, sweet pea, bold pale musk and warm tonka. I just don't like sweet pea on me I guess. This is just an attack of floral soap on my skin. Pity because I love the concept.

    Fascinum

An appealing lemon in the bottle that goes quickly to a powdery cedar on my skin. As usual cedar is not my friend. I think this will be a great summer scent for Mr. Isis.

    Eclipse

Imp: Almond but a very rich almond. I think the frankincense is blending with. Wet: The scent of the imp unfolds another layer adding lovely heliotrope. Dry: It adds a creamier edge from the vanilla and the tiniest warm bite of cinnamon. Overall: Beautiful scent but my favorite part is the way it build upon itself note by note like watching the slow progression of shadow across the sun.

    Symmakhia

This is just so darn sexy on the skin. First the pear and white grape were a very delicate and sophisticated sort of fruity. As it warms up the florals start to come out. I'm thinking heliotrope may be a new favorite for me. Now I keep getting delicious wafts of vanilla and white roses up from my neck. When I sniff closer I can detect the lily and heliotrope and a deeper sandalwood note. The fruits are indistinguishable but there is something juicy rounding out the scent that remembers their presence.

    Nuit

Imp: Soft and beautiful. A dreamy mix of moonflower and jasmine. Wet:The incense whispers. Gorgeous Egyptian night. Dry: Lovely mix of floral, musk and incense. I don't get much rose. This is one to dream by.

    Obatala

Cool and creamy. Smells just like a freshly opened coconut to me.

    Elegba

Very sweet, boozy coconut rum. I'm not a coconut girl but it give me a happy summery feeling. A bit of the islands in a cold northern winter.

    Love-In-Idleness

A delightful Victorian nosegay. Pansies, lilacs, violets and some lavender rosebuds. Pretty and delicate but a little too sweet for my tastes.

    Asp Viper (2006)

Snake Oil with red mandarin, myrrh, and almond. Imp: Amaretto, smoke and Snake Oil! Wet: Awesome slightly cherryish amaretto. The SO keeps it from going plastic on me. Very nice! Dry: It begins to get drier and somewhat more bitter...still I like it. Interesting take on SO. The myrrh starts to warm it up too. My imp is a keeper!

    The Dodo

Imp: Lemony with a big ol' slap of red musk that doesn't make me hopeful since it does not love me. Wet: I'm feeling a love/hate thing. Sugary lemon...gooooood. Red musk...baaaaaad. Dry: It gets fruitier as it dries. Sort of tropical actually. I sort of like it. The musk has mellowed out. I don't tend to wear fruit scents though so I will pass it on.

    Pannychis

Imp: Swoon...jasmine, currants, some creamy sandalwood and heady ylang ylang. I'm excited to try it. Wet: Exotic florals perfectly balanced with an enticing bite of spice from the cardamon ans frankincense. Just an intoxicating sweetness. Dry: The more delicate florals begin to show moonflower and just a gorgeous lily. The warmth of the sandalwood along with the hint of sharp and the gorgeousness of the jasmine are still very much there too. This is such a winner for me I can just imagine it on a hot steamy summer night.

    Desdemona

Imp: Mostly a bright sunny sweet pea that reminds me of B&BW Sweet Pea . Not as spicy as I had hoped. Fingers crossed that the carnation makes more of an appearance on my skin. Wet: Umm...I smell the carnation in there but sweet pea = sickly floral death. This was my first BPAL sweet pea. I guess I found a floral I don't like. Dry: Just yuck. That sweet pea is going very artificial on my skin.

    Windward Passage

Imp: Salty, salty sea. Reminds me a bit of Selkie but less complex. Wet: Very bright and sunny on the Windward Passage. Mellow marine scent that is nice and salty with a touch of green. Dry: Tends a bit more towards the manly side as it dries down for me. I'm losing the saltiness and gaining cologne. As much as I loved the wet phase the drydown isn't for me.

    GOP

Imp: It has a slight cirtusy wood polish feel. Perhaps like old furniture. Wet: The woody scent is much stronger...sort of piney. Sort of powdery too. I agree with other reviewers...masculine. Dry: It is actually a nice soft woodsy masculine cologne. A little spicy. Hmmmm...actually very nice.

    Green Party

Imp: Fresh and very green and sweet. Cutting into a fresh cucumber with a bit of melon for the sweet I think. Wet: There is less sweet and more green. I'm getting some fresh mown grass with the cucumber. Dry: Something a little muskier develops. Maybe moss, maybe melon rinds. Overall: Very vegetable. I wish it would have been available as 5mls. This will be perfect in warm weather.
