    Vixen

Imp: Sharp ginger and patchouli. It is actually sort of enticing even with that little whiff of orange blossom. Wet: Surprisingly smooth and mellow. It is really a very sexy mix. Very much a patchouli scent but the ginger keeps it from being earthy and the orange blossom keeps the razor edge of the ginger from being too much. Dry: Amazing throw. I can smell myself quite well with just a dab and I'm a slatherer. It feels like a cousin of Snake Oil. Less exotic with the same vampy qualities. Overall: I really expected not to like this but I do.

    Tweedledee

Imp: Orangy and sweet with a sneezy dash of white pepper. Wet: Too fruity. Some horrid, sticky treat kids like. Dry: Once it dries down the white tea is nicely spiced and the orange blossom is more delicate. Oddly I smell something a bit like toast and marmalade. Overall: Like a lot of the tea party scents...zany...not to be missed...to be passed on for someone else to experience:)

Serpents with Glittering Eyes and Forky Tongues

Imp: Crisp greens with that one round red note of current...a drop of venom glistening at the tip of a fang. Wet: Sweet lemon lime slithers through the fragrant grasses. Very summery and outdoorsy. Reminds me of overgrown fields. Dry:The green musk is interesting. I don't remember ever smelling that note before. Dry it seems to alternate between herbal and tart. The current never really plays on my skin which is all to the good since I'm not always a fan. Overall: Evocative, summery, fun...I'm not in love but I will enjoy the imp I have.

Chaos Theory V: Recursive Self Similarity v4

mystery number - arrived with the label oil soaked I've been sitting on this one for a while when it arrived it was clearly a more floral SO but it was sort of raw smelling...too hard to pick out what it really was. Took it back out the other day and it had resolved itself to a perfect carnation icy cold from the florists cooler mixed about 50/50 with the SO base. Divine and amazingly lucky since carnation is my number one favorite flower.

    The Caterpillar

I had my reservations about The Caterpillar. I wasn't sure that my beloved carnation would stand out among such a swirl of heady notes. Lucky for me I was wrong. Carnation is there in the middle of things as the one solid and enduring note I get throughout. The Caterpillar himself. The Carnation is surrounded in clouds of other scents. Sweet jasmine, bright citrus, dark incense, earthy moss and patchouli and musky purple iris. Dizzying and delightful. Overall another HUGE winner from the Mad Tea Party and destined for bottledom.

    Shango

Very pineapple fruity drink with an umbrella but then that chili pepper adds a bite. If you love tropical fruits this is a fun and unusual take on them. I'm not much of a fruity girl so off to the swaps for me.

    Santa Muerte

Imp: Strongly vetiver with an almost chocolaty note. Wet: I'm still getting chocolate and cactus flower with vetiver that makes is a bit masculine on me. Dry:I like it. Seems like a more masculine version of Mictecahuatl which I adore.Mr. Isis likes it so it is off to him.

    Masabakes

Imp: Very bitter and astringent. The current is faint. I half think I'm imagining it. Wet: A very staid sort of scent. I get the myrrh and something darker that tickles my nose. Dry: I wanted to like this for the mandrake but it isn't coming through for me. In the dry down the black currant is evident and a touch of floral. It isn't bad just very not exciting.

    Sed Non Satiata

I'm really striking out tonight. Baby powder, cloying tuberose and sweaty flesh. It is conjuring some images I'd rather not explore.

    Hymn

Imp: A bit jarring in the imp. The lily and rose seem to rest uneasily with the incense. Wet: Mostly frankincense on me with a whiff of rose. Like old ladies at church. Not a good thing. Dry: It doesn't really get any better. Very cloying on me.

    Nocturne

Spring like lilac, somber violet and tuberose. The tuberose is going to be a problem. Ever since B&BW came out with Velvet Tuberose it has nauseated me. I think that the hate may have spilled over into BPAL Ugh...the tuberose did me in. Gotta wash it of. On me it overpowers the other notes.

    Deep in Earth

Imp: Holy greenery...very fresh almost sweet. Not at all what I expected. The rose geranium is string too. Wet: Almost a sweet evergreen smell. Hardly any dirt. Dry: This is very soothing and hauntingly pretty but I think I will pass it on since it doesn't seem like me. It does fascinate me though. Oooh wait...there is the dirt...strange.

    All Night Long

Herbal cinnamon and smoke along with something funky...gak. The scent in the imp is so repellent to me I can't try it on my skin.

    Aeronwen

Imp: Rich carnal fig, a bit of tarragon, sweet orange like my favorite tea and something smoky like cigars. Wet: More orangey and sweet a bit syrupy even. Dry: As it dries the scent is still a bit fruity but darker. The fig is really wonderful and the amber and myrrh give it some depth. There is also a drier back drop lurking. There is something compelling about her that says I should keep the imp and wear it some more.

    Peitho

Imp: Sweet stargazer lily over something darker and richer. Wet: Lily and myrtle and the smoky richness of clove. Dry: Jasmine gets stronger and stronger. The clove and musk make a dark dry backdrop and the sandalwood is creamy and soft. No vanilla to my nose though...it would have been a nice addition. I'll have to retest another day.

    Eris

Imp: Very sweet and powerful Mimosa. Nearly candy like. Wet: Juicy fruit gum. Dry: Sort of fruity, sort of green...I agree...disjointed...and not for me.
  17. isisonearth

    Alecto

Imp: I'm not gonna lie here...cookies and cigarettes...that's what it smells like. From the notes I have no idea why. Wet: I'm getting some of the olive but still some cookies and something musty and ashtray-ish. Dry: It mellows...I might detect a hint of berry...the ash becomes cedar...but really not for me.

    Flower Moon 2009

Bottle: Fragrant honey water. Bright, sunny and cheerful. Wet: An amazing bouquet that reminds me of E Pluribus Unum but where Unum is simple, optimistic flowers Flower Moon is heavily laced with a wonderful, almost carnal, honey...it dazzles. Dry: Some star players among the flowers start to become evident. Jasmine, honeysuckle and daffodil along with something that puts me in mind of my Grandma's peony bushes and joyful phlox. An instant favorite...I think it will fill the hole that Pink Moon 2007 left in my heart.

    Morocco

Imp: Carnation and sandalwood are promising from the first sniff. Wet: A surprisingly subtle carnation mingles with the Arabian spices. There is just the slightest grounding or sandalwood. The throw is excellent. I can smell it wafting up from my arm and at this distance the carnation is much more pronounced. Dry: A lovely warm carnation blend...very much me. I think it will find its way onto my bottle list eventually.

    Bengal

A sultry and unruly blend that emulates the ambient scent of the markets in ancient Bengal: skin musk with honey, peppers, clove, cinnamon bark and ginger. Imp: Sweet honey and sharp ginger jostle against each other. Wet: Sort of dry at first. Piles of cinnamon and pepper and a bit of ginger in the market place. Dry: The sweet honey drifts in and out. Not really sweet enough for me.

    Bayou

Imp: Oooh honeysuckle and a blast of aquatics. It reminds me of a combination of New Orleans and Selkie. Wet: Green and lush. Not as floral as I expected from the imp. I love the combination of moss and aquatics. I'm not getting any cypress which is good that usually turns a blend too masculine on me. Dry: Much more subtle that I would have though. Warm and close and languid...this is a winner.

    Bess

Imp: Beautifully herbal. I smell rosemary and mint right away. Wet: Lemony at first but it quickly blooms into a delicate rose. Dry: The mint is back...mmmmmm. This is just a gorgeous close to the skin blend. I love the whisper of flowers and herbs. I could see needing a bottle of this after some more wear.

    Kill-Devil

Imp: Sweet...sweet...sweet...wood. Wet: Sweet wood with a hint at something salty and something a little musty. Dry: It really mellows and the molasses is recognizable. For me it would need a little something else to make it more feminine since the sultriness doesn't come out on my skin. It brings to mind polished wood.
