Lala

Mme. Moriarty, Misfortune Teller is completely beautiful. This is my first big bottle purchase from the lab. It is so unique and mysterious, yet strangely comforting. The strange thing is, that when a first put it on, I couldn't smell anything much, so I reapplied. It smelled a little fruity/plasticky; with the patchouli underneath. I thought I might be in trouble. But then this amazing scent emerged once it settled. I get the vanilla bean and patchouli leaf, which does have a sweet tobacco-ish smell, and just a little accent of fruit. This lasted all day on me, but it stays so close to my skin that it's like someone has hugged me and left their scent on me. I'm in awe of this scent. I also agree with everyone who said that if you can't normally wear patchouli, you can pull this off.

Wet: Spicy baby powder. Dry: Creamy floral baby powder; still slightly spicy. Dry, 3 hours later: spicy baby powder again. I can definitely smell the florals in this, but can't separate the rose or carnation. It's not sharp, but creamy. I assume this is the milk note making it so. I get no bergamot at all from this, and the honey I'm not sure about. There is a general sweetness about this blend though. I have to say, this isn't my type of scent, as I hate florals, in particular rose. But the fact that I didn't have to scrub it off is a testament to how well this is blended. Usually florals give me headaches, but Alice did not. The structure of this is kind of what I go for, foody, but with an edge. It's just that the particular notes in this aren't my thing. This is a very girly scent, it just doesn't embody my fragrance personality.

I so hoped White Rabbit would work on my skin. It has vanilla in it, so I thought it was a sure thing (my skin loves vanilla). I tried testing this twice. The first time, on the back of my hand. I got something slightly sweet, but not a sugary kind of sweet. Something I can't quite place. I figured I hadn't put enough on. So the next time, I put it all over me, and went off to work. There was something in it that made me slightly nauseated, but my nose isn't sophisticated enough to figure out which note it was. I'm thinking the linen note, which I've known as a room fragrance, but never experienced in a perfume oil. Midday, It was all ginger, a bit of honey and milk (I think). I got no tea or vanilla from this. By the end of the day, White Rabbit turned into something like a cross between baby spit up and funky b.o.! I couldn't believe that my skin could produce such a scent from this oil. I had to take the train home, hoping that no one could smell me. I was sad that this didn't work for me. I can't figure this out. It has to be either the ginger or milk notes (I'm not too familiar with either of these notes in fragrance, nor how my skin reacts to them). I hope to try the rest of the Mad Tea Party, as I love Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, and what better way to represent?

I put a drop of this on the inside of my arm, and up wafted, ammonia? WTF? Nope, not doing this. Ran straight to the bathroom to scrub this one off.

I slathered this on before going to work, without doing a patch test first, so I had no idea what I would smell like today. Upon application, I got a strong lemony note, then vanilla and musk. But there was something that kind of smelled like lavender? When I got to work it had settled down into a sugary musk, but with something a little masculine underneath; it wasn't a candy-ish, "girly" sweet. I enjoyed it wafting from my wrists though. It had pretty good throw; One of my (male) co-workers said, "something smells nice, is that you?" By the end of the day, all that was left was a whisper of sugar and musk. I like that this was a bit different from the vanillas I usually wear. I never did get any tea note though.

Kabuki has two notes that I love, musk and anise. I usually don't do cherry in fragrances. I like the smell, but I don't want to smell like it, if you know what I mean. Having said that, I find the cherry in this blend to be really warm and not particularly candy-like. This lasted all day on me, with the musk being most prominent, and the cherry and anise playing in the background. I really like this, nice for those days when I want to smell sweet, but not vanilla-ey (I'm a vanilla fiend).
