    Snake Charmer

This is Snake Oil (the one perfume besides Lolita Lempicka I always, always get a compliment on when I wear)...but better. Snake Oil turns really sharp and bitter towards the end, which always makes me hesitate to wear it again. Snake Charmer stays rich and balanced and smooth the whole way through. It makes me want to go clubbing

    Glowing Vulva at Ryogoku Bridge

When I went to see my brother in New Jersey, one of our friends bought me a limited edition candle called, simply, Vanilla-Sandalwood. And it smelled so amazing. It was warm and spicy and vanilla and not foody (I like some foody scents but I really LOVE faint incense notes, which this had). There wasn't any waxy, commercial-candle scent to it at all. I burned out the last of it a few weeks ago, but I kept the pretty little jar it came in so that I could still catch whiffs of how good it smelled, and I poked around vanilla/sandalwood perfume combinations just hoping I would find one that smelled even a little bit like it. But this? This perfume IS that scent. I'm so happy! It smells amazing. I'm going to need another bottle as backup, I think. Just in case. In the bottle: Smells like Love's Philosophy, so I'm betting that's the cream. Wet: I actually didn't like it wet very much. It smelled like teak, and more teak, and teak as a backdrop. Dry: Sweet amber, a touch of cream, blended with that faint spicy-woody scent. That delicious, elusive scent I've been hunting down for two years.

I got these for chakra work, so most of my review will be about that. I started with this one because I've been feeling very conflicted lately, and I've had a lot of trouble balancing three specific chakras, the heart being one of them. I put this oil over my chakra points (focusing on my heart) and then on my wrists, just to be sure I'd get the full scent. While meditating it was much easier to focus and my attention was definitely drawn to the unbalanced heart chakra. After I was done meditating I felt much calmer, and I feel much more on balance now. It definitely made it easier and more relaxing to meditate. Scent-wise, I honestly don't remember any notes specifically; it brought to mind a very soft rosey-pink color, though, and it was very calming. I'd recommend this to anyone.

    Smut

...so good. That could sum it up. There's not a phase I dislike. It makes me kind of introverted, though, because it smells so good I'll just get lost smelling it and thinking about things

    Love's Philosophy

This works amazing on me. In the bottle it reminds me a lot of Mr. Nancy, minus the lime; or Haloa; or maybe even Beaver Moon. Sort of a creamy, cheesecake scent. Once it hits my skin, though, it turns vanilla and--yeah, that wintergreen scent people were talking about. Which wouldn't bother me, but it fades in about three seconds flat, anyway. Then it's just creamy vanilla and oh man it's so good. It's not a fake scent at all on me, just very soft vanilla with a touch of saffron.
  6. I like green tea scents, so I always wear Shanghai when I work out. When I'm out of that I'll sometimes wear Holiday Moon, or Tweedledee.

    Ephemera

Hmm. This reminds me of when I grew different herbs and plants in my room (I'm thinking the chamomile reminds me most?) Once it dries, I smell more rose and chamomile than anything. It's really pretty and soft. I was surprised that I liked it. I'm thinking this is what I'll wear once the sun starts coming out more.
  8. You guys are wonderful! Thank you all for the suggestions and condolences. It really does mean a lot. I hadn't thought about scent association before, and that's a really good point. It would have been really awful if my favorite scents came to remind me of losing him But I have a lot of new ones to try now, it looks like!
  9. Thank you, hepkitten. And thank you for the suggestions! I like aquatics and tea scents quite a bit.

I was kind of wary of the chocolate, because no chocolate scents work for me, but I'm a huge fan of Snake Oil so I couldn't resist. Plus, the other reviews sort of swayed me. It stays smooth and chocolatey and spicy all at once. It's a favorite!
  11. A friend of mine passed away, and I'm really wanting something comforting and mind-clearing to wear to work and around the house, and later at the funeral. Any suggestions?

    Green Tree Viper

I don't get Dorian during this, which is lucky, because I can't wear Dorian at all. (It just ends up smelling like cologne, alas.) Instead, this one smells like green tea and homemade ice cream almost. Tasty! ADDED Feb. 23: Mint, mint, vanilla-mint, and then a half hour later, green tea ice cream. I approve!

    O

I think this one was where I learned what a difference skin chemistry makes! On me, it's really really sweet and spicy. On my mother, it's softer and almost creamier. (Smells better on her, IMO). On my friend, it's completely amber (well I think so anyway; it's similar to an amber lotion she has.) So there you have it! If it doesn't work on you, try it on a friend. If it works on them, tote them around so you can still smell it

    Anubis

Hm...weirdly enough, it scared me a little when I first put it on. Just something in it brought back some childhood fear or other But now that that's gone, it smells...warm? And there's something sort of cold? Mostly cause of the name, I picture being in an old tomb, opening a box of almonds (I think there might be almonds in it?) and there just being a little bit of fresh air coming down from a very distant crack overhead. I like! Not sure when I'll wear it but I'm keeping it because I'm sure I will.
  15. My brother quit smoking finally ( ) but...I miss the scent of his cigarettes sometimes Bad, I know. So I thought maybe the tasty perfumes here would help. Any ideas?
