    La Pierreuse

I'm having a similar result as annemathematics. My skin loves tobacco, so this ends up being a primarily tobacco blend for me. It's lighter than French tobacco and sweeter than Bulgarian tobacco. I get a hint of rose but I have to smell for it. I suspect that the tobacco will age beautifully but I'm still sad that my skin doesn't give me more rose.

    Joy

I'm so glad I bought Joy. This is one uplifting oil. It's different from some of my other TALs in that it's not comforting/protecting/soothing uplifting, but more perky uplifting. I put it on my chakras this morning because I did not want to be dour for a second day in a row (ugh cramps). A couple hours later, the grumps have gone and I'm slightly bouncy. I wore this the other day when I had to work at a public service desk and was downright chipper first thing in the morning - even before my caffeine. I think I'm going to have to be a little careful with this oil because I'm pretty energized right now (it's like drinking a shot of espresso). Thankfully, this doesn't seem to be an all-day effect. Perky. Bouncy. Happy. Joy!

    This World's Joy

This is beautiful and these notes work amazingly well together. I get a nice even blend of all three notes, though perhaps the violet is just a bit stronger than the other two. I'm usually meh about violet (though I *love* rose and frank), but this blend makes the violet work for me. The problem is that this blend is super faint on my skin. I get very little throw and I really have to put my nose in there to smell it. If it was stronger on my skin, I feel like this one would be a definite keeper. As it is, I'm unsure.

    Ecclesiastical Excesses

This is heaven in a bottle if you like rich, slightly spicy and sweet incense. I'm hit-or-miss on daemonorops, vetiver, and clove but in this blend they are all winners. I smell all three rounded out by the frankincense, though no one component stands out over the rest. It's just a lovely blend of resins. There is a slight hint of rose in the early stages as a bit of sourness (something rose can do on my skin) but it definitely is in the background of the resins (caveat that my skin loves and amps resins). I have no idea what mate smells like and how it's adding to the blend. I seems to be one of the few reviewers who loves this blend, probably as it works so well on my resin-loving skin. Aging has likely also helped. Either way, this one is a winner for me. Medium+ throw and good wear length.

Dead Leaves, Chamomile, Red Roses, and White Tea

This is like autumn viewed through the lens of springtime freshness. I'm amazed by how well blended this is and how all of the notes work so well together. I'm mostly getting the dead leaf note, though this is a lighter version than some of the other "Dead Leaves and..." blends I've tried. I do get some rose and it adds light freshness to the leaves. I got some of the white tea during the wet phase but it melds into the background after drydown. I can't detect the chamomile. Overall, this blend is mainly light dead leaves with supporting freshness from the other notes. It feels like a springtime scent except that it's mainly autumn leaves. It's surprisingly pleasant. Good wear length. Low-to-medium throw.

Berry Scents - Blackberry, Red Berries

Thanks for the recommendations! I feel like I should have an untested decant of Elf hanging around if only I could just find it...

    BPTP & BPAL Layering Combos!

My new favorite combo is Boo hair gloss and Reapers Gonna Reap.

    Lilith's Hair Gloss

I agree with the comparisons to TKO, though this is a little sharper from the white musk and less sweet. It makes for a lovely gloss.

    The Serpentine

This one is growing on me. It's sweet vanilla lavender with a hint of bright floral which I'm assuming is the snowdrops. The snowdrops are almost aquatic in their freshness and they add a nice light touch on top of the blend; it's a great balance. I can't actually remember what Dorian smells like (it turns almost straight to sugar on my skin) but it's definitely adding depth to this perfume. I smell the sugar component but there's definitely more there that I can't describe. I'm chalking that up to the Dorian portion. The Serpentine is a surprise winner for me.

    Waiting

Waiting is a beautiful aquatic. It smells like clean fresh rain with a hint of herbal lavender. I'm not really big on aquatics but this one is really nice.

    Good Morning, London

Wet this is herbal, medicinal lavender. Dry it becomes soft powdery amber with a hint of lavender. It's very much a skin scent. This is a pleasant blend but not a star for me. I'm actually really curious about how it will age.

    Reapers Gonna Reap

This one is lovely. I definitely am getting musky vanilla and I'm sure the sandalwood is in there too. It actually reminds me of Edith Cushing but mellower and less sweet (I actually find Edith too aggressive so this is hitting a sweet spot). I sometimes have issues with vanilla turning to plastic and this blend threatens to do so during dry down but turns out okay in the dry phase. Overall, this is a nice blend and one that I'm happy to add to my cozy vanilla collection.

Berry Scents - Blackberry, Red Berries

I thought I didn't like berry notes but I just realized today that some of my favorite BPALs have a hint of berry in them: Autumn Overlooked My Knitting (red currants) Beautiful Death (belladonna berries) Coraline Jones (mossy berry) Any recommendations for other BPALs with just a hint of berry in them?

    October

2015 version. This has become my default scent for the month of October as I await the arrival of this year's Weenies. The scent itself is super evocative. It's dry leaves and sap on a chilly, slightly wet autumn day. My skin often eats the dead leaf note, so I get more sap here. It really smells like being under trees on a day in the late fall; just wonderful. October has low-to-moderate throw with longevity of about a half day.

    Peach-Pulped Frankincense Hair Gloss

I agree with Kris that this is mostly peach. I don't get much frank at all but it seems to be there grounding the peach. The peach itself is on the lighter side with a bit of sweetness - definitely not heavy nor super foody. Overall, this is a really pleasant fresh gloss with low to moderate throw. It's going to be wonderful to wear in spring and summer.

Autumn Scents - recommend the ones you love

I think all my favorite fall scents are LEs: October, Autumn Overlooked My Knitting, Exclessiastical Excesses, Autumn Lace, and Dead Leaves and Tobacco. I was so excited when it turned crisp last week so I could break them all out.

    Autumn Lace

This is a scent for a cold day by a warm fire. It's definitely in the Lace family but on the richer-fuller end. I don't have the nose to tell the individual notes apart but I'm getting mostly tobacco, the Lace element, and a touch of sugar. (I should mention that my skin amps tobacco and sugar and eats the dry leaf note.) This blend works great on my skin but it's definitely a cold weather scent; it's too heavy for summer and spring. Thankfully, I live in a cold weather region and will have lots of opportunities to wear this (and I will definitely be taking advantage of that fact!).

    Champagne Lace

I should preface this review by noting that I don't really care for champagne (the perfume component). That said, the champagne note here is right on the edge of what I can handle. It's present but not overwhelming and cuts beautifully through the sweet Lace portion of this blend. It also lasts for only a few hours before the Lace takes over. The Lace here is sweet and glorious in all of its Lace-ness. I really love the Lace family of perfumes. Overall, I really like this blend once it's gets over the initial "hello champagne!" moment. I can see myself wearing it surprisingly often.

    Tabula Smaragdina

I should preface this review by saying that my all-time favorite BPAL is Rose Cross. So I obviously had to try Tabula Smaragdina. This is definitely like Rose Cross's fraternal twin in that it's a blend of rose and incense. The incense is more dominant in this blend but at the same time it's mellower than the frankincense in Rose Cross. The rose component is also different and I'm afraid this one doesn't play as nicely on my skin and goes a bit sour. Overall, this one is nice but won't make me stop hoarding Rose Cross.

    Enveloped in Silk Hair Gloss

This is not as sugary sweet/cloying as I was expecting but instead has a lovely lightness to it. The strawberry note is incredibly fresh when first applied. Once the gloss dries, the orris and musk appear to ground things out. Overall, it's a gloss that's both fresh and sweet and very appealing - perfect for warmer months.

    Spooky Action at a Distance

Wet, this is overwhelmingly sandalwood. As in, "calm down there sandalwood" mixed with a little "what have I done?" Drying down, it starts to be more of a rose-sandalwood balance. Dry is where the magic happens. It's still primarily rose and sandalwood but there is just a touch of sweetness in the background that's taking this blend from "that's nice" to "I might want to bathe in it". I don't know if it's the violet or rose geranium, but whatever it is is making this blend for me. This is another BPAL rose winner for me.

    Departing Like Smoke Hair Gloss

I was looking for a pleasant, work-appropriate hair gloss and I think this definitely works for that. Scent-wise, it's mainly sandalwood anchored with amber and cut through with white tiare. It is not too strong and wears well - I still get sandalwood and amber after several hours. It's comforting and a bit sweet from the amber and bright from the tiare. Overall, this is a really nice gloss that I think will go well with many of my BPAL perfumes. It's a good addition to my hair gloss collection and one that I suspect will get lots of wear.

Frau bei der Selbstbefriedigung Bath Oil

Wearing as a moisturizer. Oh, this one is nice. I'm getting mainly sandalwood cut through with the fresh tea rose. The vanilla cream rounds out the blend and is not sweet. I get all three notes and really like the balance. Very pleasant, not very strong, and a nice balance of the fresh rose with dry, comforting notes. I declare this one a winner for this rose lover.

    Recollection Bath Oil

Wearing this as a moisturizer. I'm getting mostly cocoa butter and marshmallow - it is a bit sweeter than I expected. There's almost a honey/caramel/butter quality to this which fades after initial application. It's really pleasant and comforting but may be a bit too sweet for my personal taste (I don't really do foody/sweet scents).
