OK, my fellow Lilac Lovers, time to bump this thread. My favorite Lilac scents follow but I am compelled to ask if there are moar: His Station and 4 Aces Lysander The Lilac Wood Dragon's Eye Blood Countess I would love to get my paws on a Blue Lilac SN or just sniff one

I am pretty sure that there is Musk in this as well as a raw, broken in leather. This smells like bridle after you left it overnight in the barn and riding the day before. Like the sweat from the horses has seasoned the leather. I think I will be buying back ups. This really brings me back to memories of riding horses with my aunt.

I am going to add In the Wild North to the list of fresh sheets recommendations. It dried to be slightly ozone fresh sheets.

My vote would be for the Lilith scent: Give Me Thy Breath, My Sister 2015 Alternates: Heel (2016 Lilith), Muse of Fire

It's possible that aging process is making some Amber wearable for you. I usually love White, grey (ambergris), and pale amber fresh or aged. Nonspecific Amber, usually doesn't smell good for me until it hits 18 to 24 months. I figured this out by comparison of fresh versus aged Mouse's Long and Sad Tale. I also don't enjoy Amber during Shark week (menses). After that, it goes back to smell good again. Unaged or on Shark week, it smells musty and powdery. TMI probably, but may be my over sharing will help you figure it out. Because Amber is beautiful. If the right kind, good age, right time of the month. Notice I didn't mention Black Amber because I'm still trying to figure it out. Pink and Green Amber, I like. White and Grey, I love. Tunisian, Egyptian, Golden, I love with aging. Some notes, for example, rose, I've learned that I have to try a decant each and every unique blend because I can never predict if it will work on my skin chemistry. And, I have to test at different times of my cycle just to be sure I'm not missing anything.

Holy Coca Cola. I finally understand what you guys mean when you say a scent smells like cola. This is resin heaven. Which is appropriate if I think about it. I can't really tease out any notes except Opium, which varies between peppery floral and hairspray and the Coca-Cola resin, that I'm guessing is opoponox or labdanum, or perhaps both. Wet, it has a fizzy quality, like a carbonated beverage! The Opium note disappeared on drydown and I was left with a sweet resin buzz. I have a hard time describing but it's fuzzy and plush, like black velvet. I need multiple bottles and I really want to know what note smells like Coca-Cola incense.

Cumin and grape give me pause, however, someone kindly gave me a sample imp, well aged, I'm guessing it's the 2008 version? It's identifiable as champagne when wet, not grapey as I feared. Early wet to dry phase, the frankincense and myrrh come to the champagne party. I also detect a metallic note, could it be the gold? Drying, the ambergris is apparent and ties all these notes together seamlessly. I don't appreciate any coriander or Cumin, but I can't say I've smelled those singly. Drydown phase is a beautiful ambergris and vanilla bean, lovely, ethereal. Being the ambergris whore, I must say this is going to be a full bottle purchase. I just hope that the 2016 ages to become the masterpiece that I received in frimp.

My first thought at sniffing the bottle was, "Gluttony, is it you?" Granted, I hadn't sniffed Gluttony in years, but this has a passing similarly on first sniff. It is not a Gluttony dupe but this is a delicious foodie creation. I can see the Boo minus the linen note comparison (to be fair, I get no cream either) and the Rice Krispy treats association. Initially, wet, this was very buttery with caramel and vanilla mainly. Drying it was pretty consistent, little morphing, mostly marshmallows and caramel. I didn't pick up any fudge or chocolate, maybe there's a batch variant? No chocolate sludge in the oil itself. Maybe I didn't roll the bottle thoroughly, however, I will retest after a more vigorous mixing and report back with an edit if I get chocolate on the next test. This was more gooey marshmallows than cookies or pound cake to my nose. I accidentally ordered 2 of these but I'm a-okay with that because this is in my foodie top 5. Actually, I need to do another Yuletide Post order, so maybe there will be a third bottle heading to my greedy, gluttonous little hands. BTW, I didn't love Marshmallow Cookie Pie, sacrilege, I know, it had an off, scorched smell, but this is perfect!

I love this! Frosty Red berries predominantly for me, yes, there is something slightly frosty about them minus any ozone or aquatic. The Mistletoe is a Green herbal note in support. The berries are both Red currents and cranberries, I can smell both. This smells a bit sugared as well, it's a bit sweet. I love this and think I may need a full bottle or at least more decants for the Summer. This reminds me less of Christmas than Springtime berries caught in the area late Frost.

Bumping the thread due to my newest obsession, carnation. My favorite Carnation perfumes are Hod and Morocco. I have imps to try of Bathsheba and I want to track down Brisingamen. I am waiting for A Thousand Hopes and Dreams and Fears to settle. I will probably never be able to find a bottle or decant of the The Masque. What are some other carnation perfumes to try? Hey my fellow carnation lover! I think you'll like Brisingamen, I do. Keep meaning to get a bottle. Hod and Alice are my faves, (Morocco is all sandalwood on me, which I love, but not a carnation scent for me). I can't wait for my decant of A Thousand Hopes to get here! Anticipating needing a bottle. Have you already tried Queen Alice? It's another GC carnation fave of mine. Miss Lizzie and Cushing Manor "Atmofume" are my newest carnation loves, but they're both harder to find. I know "soliciting" is not allowed, and this is not that, but if you wanted to try The Masque, dear Sprout, I know a certain someone who has a bottle and would gladly send you some to try. PM me if you want. I think you will love A Thousand Hopes and Dreams and Joys. It is very similar to Morocco with no Sandalwood. I have a bottle of Liebeszauber on the way. I have a very aged bottle of Queen Alice that I should retry. I love, love, love Cushing Manor. Miss Addie is very hard to find as is the Bandersnatch. Brisingamen has been out of stock the last few times I was checking to add to my order. What about Bathsheba?

In the Wild North has a sweetness, but it's not an actual berry like Skadi or Almond Blossom. It's the Lab's snow note plus spruce and pine, which is definitely lovely but not the same as Skadi. Alas. Ah, the search continues. Maybe next year Beth will resurrect it. In the meantime, Snowflakes remains my quintessential Winter scent. I also love Talvikuu, Perchta, Ded Moroz, Dust of Snow, Snow White, Black Ice and Snowblind. Winter-Time and Nuclear Winter are nice also. From this year's decants, I am loving Winter Landscape as my quintessential Lab Snow scent!

Wow, The Sea of Ice from this year's Yule release is very laundry like.

Has anyone done a side by side comparison between Skadi and In the Wild North.

The scent of tea - BPAL's tea note, BPAL blends like your favorite tea
sprout replied to sarada's topic in Recommendations
Please feel free to add to my list and tweak it. I need to retry Season of Ghosts. Ginger is always a plus but lemongrass and I don't usually mix. I love real Lemon, lemon verbena, and almost all citrus though. -
The scent of tea - BPAL's tea note, BPAL blends like your favorite tea
sprout replied to sarada's topic in Recommendations
I love the smell of BPAL Tea, and haven't done a round up of my favorites yet, so, here goes: GC: White Rabbit (I love this so much I tracked down a 10 ml) Dorian Geneviere (technically an LE, but available when the Carnival is live) Theodosius (Earl Grey) Alice Maiden Bewitched (Tea and Blackberries) Cordelia (Overlooked probably due to the floral elements but is a beautiful green tea scent) The Dormouse Firethorn Berry Tea Green Tea Viper! Half-Elf Kumiho Lady Una (Green Tea plus Honey!) Nostrum Remedium The Apothecary The East (jasmine tea made by fairies) Tweedledee & Tweedledum LE: A Holy Man Advises Evoking Mary...(White tea and White leather) A Little More Tea A Peculiar Spirit (Tea and Tobacco, with a licorice vibe) Bewildered in a Dream (dreamy Tea and Lavender perfection) Desert Places (available until the Yules come down, white tea and resins) Diversions in the Chashitsu Eldritch Drunken Constellations (another reason to love this, but the ambergris eclipses the Tea in my opinion) Embalming Fluid Bon-Bon Eusapia First Cry of the Warbler on the Plum Full Moon Geisha in a Green Kimono (gunpowder green) Mars Loucetius (Tea chypre) Men Ringing Bell with Penises (bonus points for artwork, very fresh green tea blend) Phallus Parade (Smoky Black Tea glory) Pumpkin I ( Pumpkin plus gingery Black tea) Serving Tea after Coitus The Teapot The Trappings of the Tea House (vanilla Tea scent of my desire) Venus Genetrix (jasmine tea masterpiece) Maiden v2 Half-Elfv5 Tea blends that seem to be other people's favorites but I don't care for on my skin, due to problematic note inclusions: Embalming Fluid (the chocolate made it wearable in the LE?) Evil Phantasm Plunder Rendezvous at the Bath Shanghai Tea blends that I need to try: Bread-and-Butter-Fly Eros Famine Funerailles Furo Gingerbread, Matcha Tea, and Raw Mint Gossips of Ghost Land Iambe? Insula Ventorum Iulia Koito and Sashichi Lovers in the Tea House Shadwell Harlot's House Treasure Ship Coming In Tweedledum Bon-Bon Twinkle Twinkle Little Bat Tyrranophobia Yurei Omitted blends that have Tea, but it is overwhelmed by the other notes -
This could be the resin blend of my dreams. Galangal starts strong with a gingery punch. The olibanum adds the airy mystery of incense. Drying, the myrrh is in evidence with the barest hint of DBR. The resins here are cuddly and comforting, not too Smoky. Low sillage at the present time, although this will likely strengthen with age. For now it's more of a skin scent. Myrrh is subdued here, glowing and warm rather than cloying. This is spicy incense with a hint of blood and sweet. It's full bottle worthy indubitably.

Dead Leaves, Raw Leather, Bourbon Vanilla, and Clove
sprout replied to puellacaerulea's topic in Halloweenie
Add me to the list of reviewers who get oakmoss like whoa! from this. Like Keanu Reeves in the Matrix whoa. Maybe like Keanu Reeves as Ted whoa! I can detect the vanilla, leather, clove combination, like a distant radio station Riding in and fading in and out on the main Channel playing the song oakmoss night and day. I enjoy Fougere perfumes, however, this is very different than I expected. Wonder if there are batch variations here or we've discovered a new amping ability super power? I will retest, but I doubt that I'll want a bottle. I'm keeping the imp. I like my oakmoss with flowers or Grass and the faint amounts of the other notes means there are other vanilla, clove, leather scents to hoard instead. To be fair, the whole Dead Leaves series are mostly unpleasant for me, must be a skin chemistry thing. I still have October and Samhain to love though and the Dead Leaves with Tobacco and Currant worked out, so I keep trying these. Considering how expensive the Weenies updates can be, I should be grateful for a proverbial death note.- 24 replies

Layer of White Rabbit plus Saw Scaled Viper? -
This was mainly moist soil and moss at the start with a hint of beeswax. Drying, a hint of pine. Ivy is missing in action for me, a shame, as I love it. Later, an hour or more into the drydown, the wax assumes prominence. This is the most realistic "dirt " scent I own. The only problem for me is that the scent is turning my stomach a little. I'm not certain if this is a primal scent association that is preconscious for me, or a true, visceral reaction to the moist, fecund material that so accurately depicts dirt. Frequently, the presence of benzoin component in fresh state gives me a similar nausea but ages into a grand, sweet smelling, vanillic base note. I will need to retest this. I may wish to acquire a bottle, as I love the beeswax from the Lab, and it's glorious here, but my tummy has issues with the dirt. Odd, considering I was that weird little girl who actually ate (well, tasted) the mud pies I made in my back yard.

[No additional description provided.] Okay, I hate going first, but in case anyone needs this review to make a purchase decision, here we go. In the bottle, this smells of hibiscus tea. But on skin, it is undoubtedly rock rose, the resin. If you aren't familiar with rock rose, it's a resin distilled from the sap of an evergreen bush that grows in Mediterranean areas. The sap is collected as tears from the shrubs, similar to harvesting frankincense. Reading more about how it's made, I learned it can also be steam distilled from the leaves of the plant and the flowers. The sap is sticky and can be brushed from the wool of sheep after they rub against the sap during grazing. As a resin, the odor is similar to frankincense or myrrh, but it is sweeter and less airy than frankincense and less powdery or sweet as myrrh. It did have a slightly floral, almost rosy hint initially but drying down, it's a sweet, slightly woody, musky and amber like resin. It isn't smoky or metallic like DBR. Interestingly, this oil is used for calming the nerves during terror states and it's evidently present in Bach's flower remedy. I love this and I am considering a backup. The sillage is modest at this point but I expect that will improve with age. This is quite fresh from the mailbox, arriving yesterday and only giving it overnight to settle. I will report back later with how long it lasts. ETA, lasted approximately 3.5 hours, fresh. I predict aging will improve the longevity. The throw/sillage was fairly mild, close to the skin.

Take the red musk from Snake Oil add Tricksy and incense, and we have third charm. I can definitely appreciate the popularity of this Weenie. Drying, the wood base is more prominent, and sets this apart from a simple layer of Snake Oil and Tricksy. It keeps getting better. Every time I think I have enough Red musk perfumes, Beth creates a masterpiece like 3rd Charm. So, to recap, we have Snake Oil Red musk plus smooth as that proverbial baby butt patchouli, sweet honey, wood support, and champaca incense. I was really hoping this was a duplicate of something else that I already own so that I would be content with my half bottle but I see the error in my thinking and will add a full bottle to my last 2016 Weenies order. Worth. The. Hype.
