  2. Awww, you're not being difficult, you like what you like. I am one of the minority who loves vetiver and Malediction. I bet we can find you some non sweet resin scents, sans florals, no sweat. How do you feel about wood notes and patchouli? I'll come back with ideas when my cold medicine isn't kicking my ass and I can Brain properly.

Looking for a BPAL that Resembles a Favorite Perfume

Well, Dwarven Ale is the only one that I could find with all 3 notes: cinnamon, honey, and apple. It will probably depend on how prominent the pumpkin note in it. Last year had Honeyed Apple. Maybe mix with a Apple Cinnamon one like one of the Apple Cider ones or try Cinnamon Apple Cookie.

    2017 Ketchup for Switch Witch

Hello all Witches. This is my first Switch Witch so I hope I'm doing it right. These are answers to all the ideas asked in the Switch Witch thread. I hope this doesn't sound too grabby or picky. I'd love homemade imp and bottle containers or even store bought ones. I am always in need of more storage for bottles and imps. K beauty: I am low fuss so I really never take time to do masks but I like the Korean BB & CC products & I'd probably use a moisturizer or cleanser. Anything with spf helps. I'm always on the hunt for a primer that can extend the longevity of my foundation and provide effective sunscreen. New things for me this year are adult coloring books and painting. I'm doing Kon Marie at home as I'm moving to a new apartment at the end of September & I'll probably be redecorating. I removed my acrylic nails so I have been using shellac. I started a new weight management plan with medical supervision and I will be trying to increase my exercise level by committing to walking 4 days a week. I'm not a Scooby-Doo fan as an adult but I watched the cartoon as a kid. I find stoner Shaggy amusing. I love Tea, coffee, and chocolate of all kinds but it has to be relatively low or free of refined carbs. I do loose coffee sometimes but like k-cups for the convenience. I use loose + bag Tea and love trying new kinds. I dislike Green, Rooibos, and jasmine tea; but I like white, black, puerh, and oolong. I can always use Tea gadgets. I have a nice ceramic kettle but like mugs with the built-in diffuser baskets and I can always use more tea ball diffusers. I also like Yerba mate and have always wanted one of those gourd things to drink it. I would like to try the criobru chocolate drink things. I like stationary, pens, paper, stickers, notepads and such stuff. I especially like gel pens. I use acrylic paint, oil pastels, and water color paints. I always need canvas but those aren't easy or cheap to ship. I need a drawing book. LUSH: love the products but don't use bar soap or bath bombs. I enjoy shower gel, massage bars, moisturizer and hair or skin care things: I have sensitive skin. From the update I'd most like the rose lip balm or scrub and Lord of Misrule shower gel. I'd love for my Witch to surprise me. Halloween turtle t-shirt are very cute but will they fit me? I need a 18 to 22 women's or XXL depending on the brand. Looking again, the 2x could perhaps me!? I like the Candy Corn Bat design, Spooky kitties, and Howl at the Moon. Indie make up: cute but I prefer MAC almost exclusively. I'm a MAC whore. OCC, UD, KVD occasionally. Lime Crime or Sugarpill maybe. Wreaths: not sure if I want one. I can't display at work and it would probably be stolen at my apartment complex. Nui Cobalt jewelry is beautiful, I love the aesthetic, however, I rarely wear jewelry except rings or scent lockets. Favorite gemstone details below... I really like almost everything in the Elements and Artifacts shop too. Cocoa Pink: I like designer dupes, fruity, pumpkin, and foody scents. I can use hair conditioning stuff like glissade or ends with benefits, oil fragrance samples too. I like to be surprised by my Witch for scent choices. Future Primitive? My Witch can surprise me. I like anything but don't use bar soap. I've not tried anything but wax tarts. ILPN Polish: maybe? I do like OPI and other traditional brands like Butter London, ORLY, China Glaze and of course the Post. I have not tried much Haus of Gloi but I like Marshmallows all the things and would like to try the Ghost Puffs scent. Both of the Fall candles look yummy. I am leery of the black musk things. Any of the Candy Bowl or Fall scents would be lovely to try. Moonalisa: I like what I have tried. I would most likely be interested in the lotions, hair products, 4 in 1, & lip butters. All of her gourmand stuff sounds nice. I avoid cinnamon, bonfire, and patchouli. Anything like funnel cakes, caramel apples, caramel corn would be loved. BloodDrop has quite a few scents that I'd enjoy, The Autumn collection and The Parliament of Owls especially. I love her creations, gourmand and atmospheric especially. She does Spooky and fruity well. Nocturne Alchemy: Witchypoo looks intriguing. Other scents I'd like to try are Pumpkin Library 6,9, 10, 12, and 14, Halcyon Bat, Vampire Vanilla Bat, Black Cherry Muscadine, Black Cat, Halloween 2017. I am avoiding asking for specific products for most of these OCYL brands as I'd like my Witch to surprise me but my favorite notes are in my profile and in short are cake, honey, ginger, clove, ambergris, amber, vanilla, tobacco, stone Fruits, resins, spicy sweet and musky. I avoid cinnamon in skin products. Also with Halloween things, I like Pumpkin Spice but I dislike "allspice." From Japan: I like Hello Kitty and Domo, ♡ anything Maneki Neko. Bento boxes. Stationary. Hime Gyaru. From UK? Cadbury all the things. Tea. Clotted cream? Donations in my name are lovely. My interests include ACLU, Harvey relief, your local animal shelter, SPCA, or wildlife foundations, local ones, esp for wolves. Also, any local plant a tree groups. Support for domestic violence victims is a priority too. More specific charities listed below in my SW questionnaire. Hobbies or crafts you've been thinking of trying, but haven't had the chance yet? Knitting, crochet, cross stitch, origami. I need to hone my drawing skills. Would you want to receive a custom spell kit or magical tea? Something general would be great such as for healing, protection, uplifting my mood, celebrating the sabbats, or remembering ancestors. I could definitely use a honey jar for money drawing if my Witch is magically inclined. Do you like poetry? Yes! My favorite authors include Frost, Poe, Dickinson, Blake, Shelley, Yeats, & Keats but I am open to others. Anyone like handmade critters, stuffed animals, or custom repaints? Yes to all! I don't have any but ♡ MLP. Would you enjoy any designer/specialty yarn for your own craftyness? I don't knit or crochet. Maybe some day I'll have time to learn. Nail wraps? I am too clumsy to do my own. I wish I could because the Halloween ones are dope! Something hand knit, what type of item would you like? What color(s)? Are you allergic or sensitive to any fibers? Wool is scratchy but I love the alpaca stuff, otherwise I'm not sensitive to fibers. I'd love hand knit anything! Cowl, hat, scarf, household linens. I trust that my Witch will pick something lovely-I love Autumnal & Earthly colors and pink. My favorite color is chartreuse. If you could be ANY character from a film, TV show or book, who would it be and why? Arya from A Song of Ice and Fire because she's the baddest ass I can think of and I love her redemption arc. If you could hop into a time machine and travel anywhere/anytime, where would it be and why? Before the dawn of man so I could see the planet unspoiled. If you could invite 3 famous people to a BPAL meet and sniff, who would invite? Freud, Tesla, Marie Antoinette Would you like something hand sewn by your Witch? YES! Accessories like scarves but I also like knitted dish towels, tea cozies, storage purses etc. would be loved. I've wanted one of those pink pussy ears caps/hats since the infamous day in November. I would also use socks, leg warmers, you name it. Anyone want any kind of costuming accessories or makeup or odds and ends? I like crazy eyelashes and funky lipstick colors. I'd wear goofy ears, head adornments, glasses. Think tacky. Soapmakerlittleseedfarm.com: It all looks lovely to me, I have no need for beard oil and don't use bar soap. My Witch can guess what I would like. What are your favorite/preferred Halloween/autumn icons/images? Any to specifically stay away from? No clowns, just kidding. I like it all. Cute preferred to gory. I like wolves, owls, bats, pumpkins, Jack o'lanterns, vampires, werewolves, zombies, leaves, big Harvest moons, wolves, corvids, black Kitty cats, Sugar Skulls, skeletons, anatomically correct Hearts, brains. I especially like the Victorian Gothic and antique designs like the Post cards that the Lab included with orders. Do you eat candy, and if so would Halloween candy be welcome? Specialty candy from local or unusual sources? Chocolate? Yes, but Low carb options if possible...I let myself have an occasional treat if that helps my Witch. Do you want Fidget spinners, desk toys, or other frivolous things that you look at and decide you don't need enough to spend $ on but would make you happy to have? Perhaps. I am without a doubt a fidgety person. Zentangle art? Art is in the eye of the beholder. If my Witch deems it art, I'm in. I'd be tickled to try it. Any love of hair toys, clips, ribbons, fascinators, mini hats, etc? Yes please to all except maybe not ribbons. What local goodies may be of interest? Local Honey, jams, candy? Would you like funky Halloweenie costume makeup like Gothic eyelashes, nail effects, black lipstick, etc.? Yes all the things. Love me some funky lipstick. Esp. Deep, Forest green. I've wanted one like Melt Blow but not so matte and hard to apply. The new MAC metallic line really amazed me. KVD has interesting options. How do you like to listen to music? CD and Spotify. I have Luddite tendencies if you hadn't noticed. Do you prefer reading on Kindle or actual book? What kind of books do you like? Would you like to be surprised with a scary, classic, horror book? I prefer real books (Luddite) & I'd love to be surprised by a Gothic Horror classic. I will also update my Amazon list:) Candles, Incense, or wax tarts? I like candles best and Halloween theme candle accessories and holders. I'm curious about incense burner things but they look spendy. I would welcome incense and wax tarts as well as gadgets to use them. Witchee: are you interested in crafting materials? I'm a painter and a colorer. Yes, see above answers. Home made hair fall? If this is what I think it is, I'd try it and I could really get into it. Favorite Halloween movies? Bourbon, rum, tequila, in that order. OK it's a 3way tie for 1st place. Not a fan of scotch. Momma has a sweet toof. Like Wine? Merlot is what I know best and like but I am always willing to be educated by those with more knowledge and experience. Comics and graphic novels: I don't have many, I'd be down for Gaiman, Batman stuff, Gothic & dystopian themes. Disney? Previously I'd have said no, but they aren't doing too badly with Star Wars and Pirates of the Caribbean. I like the original Bambi. Not a fan of Disney princesses or Mickey Mouse and friends. I'm more of an Itchy and Scratchy person. Or, Buggs Bunny! He's the kind of wise ass I like. And I fucking love the Simpsons, Calvin and Hobbs, & Gary Larson anything. And what about Harry Potter related items? Sadly I have no opinion. I never read the books and refuse to see the movies until after reading the books. Is there any thing, category, or brand from which you would absolutely NOT like to receive things. Call me a hater, but nothing that has to do with any of the Kardashians. Nothing religious, nothing to do with the Republican party, or the Donald. I dislike raw onion immensely. I strongly dislike The DaVinci Code because I feel it's a plagiarized version of Foucault's Pendulum by Umberto Eco. What kinds of art/art medium do you most enjoy, or would you most like to receive? I love the Halloween banner thingies on the etsy link. To be honest I don't decorate my home for Halloween because my partner is unnerved by most scary things & I don't receive trick or treaters but I would dress up my desk or work space with cute, small sized decorative items to celebrate the season. I've updated my wish list, link in my signature, of goodies I'd love from the Lab and Post updates. I'll include OCYL. Includes rares and recent updates. Peach, Peach Blossom, Apricot, Nectarines

Bumping this topic as I have been on a Peach note kick. What are everyone's favorite Peach, Nectarine, or Apricot blends? I especially like the peachy scent from the blossom so Peach Moon may be my favorite but I haven't tried many of the Dragon Con scents. Also, I really like nectarines. I'd vote for Heavenly Ambrosial Dews of Nectar as my favorite nectarine. I'd love to hear if there are others. Also, there's no thread for Quince and it seems like it belongs in this thread. Any ideas for a Quince scent?

    Grounding Scents?

TAL Middle Pillar is designed specifically to help with grounding and I find it very effective. I also like BPAL Coiled Serpent and Wolf's Heart for this. For Winter blues, I highly recommend TAL Anthelios. For racing thoughts when I'm trying to quiet my mind and sleep, I like using Somnus or TAL Ebon Night.
  8. If you ever said to yourself, " I want my hair to smell like Reeses' Peanut Butter Cups," this would be your gloss. I wish that I had purchased more of this. Then again, maybe it's better that I did not because now I really am craving those peanut butter cups candy. Okay, to be clear, this does not smell exactly like peanut butter or Nutella. But I agree with the reviewers who are interpreting the nutmeg note as nutty in juxtaposition with the chocolate. This is similar to Gula bath oil but in hair gloss form. I can't differentiate the sandalwood but I believe it's adding a wooden base to the composition. Definitely my favorite chocolate hair gloss thus far. I must forever seek etsy and sales to find moar.

    Zorya Utrennyaya

Very mellow, slightly sweet coffee, like cold brewed. The ambrette is sweet, not quite nutty, and slightly dusky, like soft, fuzzy amber. Unfortunately the coffee note doesn't last and the ambrette becomes more powdery. I'm a fan of ambrette, so I really like this, but I wish the coffee lasted longer. The ambrette does become a little perfumey. I'm not sure I'd like a whole bottle of this but it's very compelling. I get single note ambrette after the short lived coffee note poofs. (Actually, if my nose is flush with my wrist, I can still smell coffee) I will age the decant a little and see if the ambrette matures. If so, this could become bottle worthy.

    Media

This smells like a dead ringer for Clinique Happy to my nose. The glittery aldehydes are potent, like "taste on the back of the tongue " potency. I'm guessing here, but Media starts out with a zingy citrus, I'm guessing grapefruit or bergamot, but probably the former because it screams engenue. The heart is probably honeysuckle or Lily. Drydown is close to the wet phase, but definitely in the green chypre family with over the top aldehydes. Effervescent, vapid, cheeky are adjectives that come to mind. This does evoke the concept well, it smells like commercial, clean, conventional fragrance: really swell, good clean fun. I want to purchase this for nostalgic reasons as I used to rock Clinique Happy when it first was available. I may have to pass though because this is Stimulating a headache. This is perfect for wearing to work though or a job interview where the image you want to project is "I'm confident, cooperative, energetic, and won't stink up the joint. "

Ibis and Jacquel's Funeral Parlor Atmosphere Spray

This was eerily accurate. I definitely get the beeswax up front but the camphor and other Embalming chemicals are prominent. (This is not like the GC Embalming Fluid scent, it's more like real Embalming stuff) Having worked in a Gross Anatomy lab, I can attest that this is how preserved cadavers smell. Well, a little more formaldehyde to be honest, but this is more like what I imagined Embalming chemicals smelled like before widespread use of formaldehyde. This morphs to a more resinous scent, reminiscent of the Ibis and Jacquel Neil Gaiman scents released previously, with the camphor and Embalming herbs beneath. Myrrh, beeswax, fir, and what I think may be the Henna are detectable. Love this. Not sure about a whole bottle but I may need another decant...

    Tobacco scents

Here's some recommendations from someone who has recently been exploring tobacco as a note, and adding to prior recommendations with * means it's one of my top choices [including tobacco, pipe, tobacco flower and leaf]: A Bachelor's Dog ** A Grievous Swarm * A Peculiar Spirit Apple III Black Lace *** Bunraku Theater * Cafe Mile et une Nuit Christougenniatiko Dentrophobia Conjunction of Mars and Saturn Dark Chocolate, Black Tobacco, Vetiver Diable en Boite Danse de la Mort (Pickman Gallery) Gluggagaegir * Hearth Looming Spectre of Inutterable Horror * Pleasures of the Imagination II & III & V In Time of Plague Indulgence (Crimson Peak) Interfector * La Dame au Cochon * La Femme de Satan * La Pierreuse La Ronde du Sabbat ** Le Vice Suprême Pan Twardowsky and the Devil Paysage Phoenix and Dragon * Red Lantern * The Antikythera Mechanism ** The Initiation (Fleurettes Purple Snails)** The Organ Grinder *** The Parliament of Monsters The Second Morning After Christmas * This is Your Wilderness Three and Twenty * Visions of Autumn VII I've intentionally omitted scents that list tobacco but I can't detect it due to overshadowing by other notes, e.g. Perversion, Dracul, etc.

Hunting for the ultimate _____ blend

Bestest ever but hard to find: Streets of Detroit is hands down my favorite myrrh dominant creation Some myrrh heavy GC blends that I like include: Anubis, Czernobog, La Petite Mort!, Priala the Human Phoenix, Sed non Satiata, Wings of Azrael To be fair, I amp myrrh, but these are the blends that I can clearly detect the myrrh and it's listed as one of the major components Honorable mention to Medea, Bastet, and Hecate also but they aren't as myrrh dominant as the previous listed ones HTH

How do you apply your BPAL oils?

Oh I hate to tell you but some of my reducer caps leaked worse than the wand caps! To be fair, I have not tried the reducer caps from the Lab yet, I'm only recently trying those out myself. The ones from Nocturne Alchemy have not leaked for me but I have only used them on their bottles. Maybe someone who has actually tried the Lab's reducer caps can tell us?

I can't believe that all leak as I've received some in the mail that did not, however, enough do that if I ship or store them, I take precautions: Leave upright during storage and usually no problem If shipping, use electrical tape or plumbing tape and place in its own, individual baggie

Have you tried Kyoto? I have not! Thank you for the suggestion. The "anise" note scares me, but it sounds imp worthy! Anise is definitely there but it is easy to get and test. Aizen-Myoo is easily accessible but I can't recall how much Cherry blossoms are apparent, maybe check reviews? Other, less easy to find bpal perfumes with Sakura (but check reviews because for most of these other florals or notes are prominent and could be problematic) include Little Sister is Watching You, Hanami***, Lantern Ghost of Oiwa, Fox Woman Kuzunoha Leaving Her Child, Drum Bridge and Yuhi Hill at Meguro, First Cry of the Warbler on the Plum, Night Snow at Kambara, Voyeurs Among the Cherry Blossoms, The Elephant's Leash, Jingu, There is a Garden in Her Face, Spirit of the Komachi Cherry Tree, Dragon Moon 06, the Phoenix in Spring, Aphrogenes, and the Instructional Manual. Hanami is pretty much the best Sakura scent I've found but it is getting harder to locate.. There are recommended scents in the Cherry Blossoms thread under the Recommendations section, but I summarized. Sorry, I'm on iPad and don't know how to make a link...

It could be either. I have noticed ambers tend to become redder as they age. I started writing the dates when I receive imps on the labels so I could compare how they age.

    Ozone, Ozone, Ozone!

Thunder Moon, I think 09 or maybe 07. It has rain and petrichor but ozone too, if you can find a bottle that hasn't aged out. Fresh Lurid too, if you don't mind lavender and musk of the white variety.

    Ill Omen

Wet, blood musk takes the lead. I may amp it to be fair. I can't say I've ever smelled Black frankincense but this is more airy than Smoky, but it's definitely incense. The labdanum is a supportive note rather than a dominatrix. There is a hint of blood, no entrails or DBR, it's restrained. Drying down, this is a resin lover's dream: seamless frankincense, red musk, and labdanum base notes. This is earthy rather than woody, not dirty. The sillage is modest but this lasts a long time, equal parts musk and resins and well past 8 hours. Full bottle, come to mama!

    Three and Twenty

Wet, this is very, very vetiver forward. Only fans of vetiver will likely persevere past the opening. No smoke or BBQ sauce here, this vetiver is green, rooty, syrupy. Early drydown the tobacco overtakes the vetiver, and gritty is an apt descriptive. This is dried tobacco leaves, sans smoke or any sweetness to tamper the grit. This lacks the zippy pepper note from Grievous Swarm, so the evolution is gradual rather than oscillating, but the scent progresses and the comparison is reasonable. If you liked the grittiness of the tobacco in Grievous, you'll like this. It's dry and menacing. Late drydown, this is the resin festival you'd predict from the notes. I usually amp myrrh, but it's behaved here, just providing support. The labdanum and oudh are woody and merge with the tobacco note. Stems and Dried leaves are suggested. This is definitely unisex but not so masculine as to deter the ladies, assuming that they hung in after the vetiver top. All in all, masterful. I am considering a bottle but I think I prefer Interfector or Swarm. I may try layering this with French Vanilla for s&g's. Considering my obsession with the number 23, this will probably be a FB purchase. Agree with ZZ, this has impressive sillage and it lasted well past 8 hours.
