In the imp: Exactly as described! It's not hard to see why this one is such a popular scent! Wet on skin: Sweet, musky carnation, sandalwood, some mild/sweet spices & something sugary! MUCH sweeter than it smells in the imp! Dry on skin: Musky carnation, a faint hint of sandalwood &... sugared almonds! I don't understand where the sugared almond smell is coming from, but I like it! After a few hours: Sugared almonds with some musky carnation. I'm pretty sure this is NOT what it's supposed to smell like, but I like it! Verdict: I'll definitely get a fair bit of use out of this! Now I really want to try the matching hair gloss!

    The Zieba Tree

In the imp: Exactly as described! This is so lovely & fresh smelling (even the musk smells fresh)! Wet on skin: More musky & woodsy now, but the peach & blossoms are still there in the background. Dry on skin: Even more woodsy & musky! The resin note has come out more too now & there's something adding a subtle "leafy" feel to it (the davana?). The florals & peach are there if you're looking for them, but they mostly just seem to be here to sweeten up the "tree". As someone who can't usually wear anything too "woodsy" or "foresty", this is doing a really good job of smelling like a (magical) tree! After a few hours: Sandalwood & musk, with a little resin & the faintest bit of sweetness from the blossoms & the peach. Just lovely! Verdict: I love this! I've been looking for a woodsy scent that works on my skin without feeling too "heavy" & I've found one! Huzzah!

    Shoggoth

In the imp: There's so much in here that it's hard to pick it all out - it all blends together really nicely to create an uplifting citrusy-floral scent. Wet on skin: The lime & lemongrass are dominating on my skin with a really nice musky-floral background. If it stays like this, I think this would be a good perfume for those days when it's really hard to wake up, because this is very bright & energising! Dry on skin: Musky citrus-floral! Really pretty! More subtle than before, but still very uplifting & energising! After a few hours: Faded & more musky, but still nice! Verdict: Light, pretty & cheery! Perfect for days when I need a bit of a boost first thing in the morning, but don't want something too overpowering!

In the imp: Oohhhh wow! This is amazing! It really does smell alien in the best way possible! I can *just* pick out the guava, but this is really well blended, so it's hard to find individual notes here. Wet on skin: It's completely different, but not in a bad way! In the imp I was mostly getting the "alien glow" vibe, but now it's a musky desert, with a little bit of fruit. Not at all what I was expecting, but nice. Dry on skin: Changed again! An alieny, fruity, florally, desert-y, ambery musk! I still like it best in the imp, but this is pretty After a few hours: About the same as dry. Verdict: This is a really unusual scent, but I like it! I love it in the imp though, so while I can see myself wearing it a few times as it is, I think I'd get more use from it with a scent locket.

    The Hesperides

In the imp: As described - a magical, dew-covered apple tree! Pretty! Wet on skin: The apple is golden, very bright & sweet, but the oak bark is taking over & doing something weird to it (after reading the other reviews I think this may be the caramel note others were talking about)! Oh come on, oak! I thought you were my friend! Dry on skin: It's less weird now, but I'm still not sure what it's doing. It's not turning gross, so that's a good sign! The apple is back in charge, but the bark & leaves seem to be pulling it all together. I'm confused, but I think I really like this! After a few hours: Ohhhhh, this is lovely! I smell like a magic apple tree! I love it! Verdict: Of course I finally find an amazing tree scent that works on me & it's discontinued. OF COURSE. I'll have to keep an eye out for a bottle of this!

    Sheol

In the imp: This smells really dirty & muddy. The flowers are there, but they've been trampled into the mud & covered with the copal, labdanum & tonka! The oil looks really murky too, to match the scent. Wet on skin: The flowers are much fresher now, but I'm starting to suspect I just don't like stargazer lily & iris (&, to a lesser extent, heliotrope) as I never seem to review them particularly fondly even with other things, so all mixed in together it's a bit... unpleasant for me! Dry on skin: It's almost like someone tried to create some sort of medicine/tincture with the aforementioned ingredients. If I was sick, I'd probably be ok with smelling like this if it helped me get better, but... I'm not enjoying this! After a few hours: Same as dry, only (thankfully) much more faded. Ew. Verdict: Swapping this. It's most definitely not for me!

    Fae

In the imp: I'm mostly getting a musky bergamot/heliotrope combination, but the peach & oakmoss are there if you look for them. Wet on skin: The exact opposite of in the imp! Peach & oakmoss are taking charge here & the musk, bergamot & heliotrope are hidden in the background. Dry on skin: Oakmoss. The oakmoss is now completely dominant! The other notes have sort of blended together into the background to create a soft sweetness that works surprisingly well with the oakmoss in charge! After a few hours: I was worried that the oakmoss was a bit too strong when it first dried - I don't mind it in the background of scents, but I didn't think I'd like it as a main note. Turns out the peach sweetens it quite a lot & it's actually really nice. It makes it more earthy than the other fairy notes I love - different, but still has that "magic" feel to it. Verdict: Probably not an everyday perfume, but I do really like this one! It makes me want to look up more peach perfumes!

    Belladonna

The devil’s herb, which he cultivates with skill and pleasure. According to lore, the spirit of this plant may take the form of a breathtaking, achingly beautiful woman, deadly to behold. This scent is a tribute to such a dark and magnificent plant: a rich green and floral blend, earthy and haunting. In the imp: Mysterious herbs, I think there's some Eucalyptus in here, & a bit of dirt. The oil is such a pretty shade of green! Wet on skin: Yeah, there's Eucalyptus in here! I'm honestly not sure what else, because that's dominating quite impressively right now! I think there's some pine needles in the background? Dry on skin: Pine needles. Some Eucalyptus. There's some other herbs in the background, but they're fairly hidden at this point! After a few hours: Almost all gone now. This wasn't very exciting on me. I was expecting a much more herbal scent, but it was pretty much just pine & Eucalyptus. Verdict: It was boring on my husband too, so off to the swap pile it goes!

    Love-In-Idleness

In the imp: I honestly can't pick what's in this - it's blended really well! It does smell like a very purple flower. It's sweet, but not at all delicate! Wet on skin: Lilacs, Lily of the Valley, something a little spicy, something aquatic. I'm not sure how I feel about this one yet. Dry on skin: TOTALLY different! Sweet (almost sugary!), creamy & soft! It smells like a soap or a scented body powder, but a really nice one! I really like this smell, but I'm not sure I like it as a perfume. After a few hours: Soft, sweet floral. Like a nice soap or dusting powder. Verdict: This is a very pretty scent, BUT not how I want me to smell... I want my towels & bedding to smell like this! If this were an atmo spray, I'd be spraying it on EVERYTHING! I read recently about someone making scented dryer balls with some of their BPALs & I think I'll have to try that, because I just know this won't ever get worn, but I don't know if I could bear to give it away!

    Squirting Cucumber

In the imp: Straight up cucumber. Cold, juicy & fresh. There's a hint of grass in the background, but only if you're really looking for it. The oil is completely clear too, it almost looks like water! Wet on skin: Same as in the imp, only stronger! Very cool & refreshing! Dry on skin: Pretty much the same as wet. I really want a cooling spray/mist that smells exactly like this for summertime! After a few hours: More grass & some light aquatic florals now, but yeah, still cucumber! Verdict: This will be really handy for in summer when it's hot & gross & I just want to feel cool & fresh! I think I'll probably end up testing a couple of drops in a small spray bottle with water (shaken before use, obviously) to spritz on my skin during hot days! It smells like it would be perfect for that!

    Poisoned Apple

In the imp: A stunning red apple! After I get past the initial apple hit, I can just barely smell some fairytale-esque poisons lurking in the background. This is exactly what I imagine the poisoned apple in Snow White to smell like! Wet on skin: The poisons have come out more now. This must be what the apple smells like immediately after the Queen poisons it. Dry on skin: This is amping far less than I remember it doing (last time this smelled exactly the same on me as it did in the imp for aaaages), but it's still a sweet, delicious, red apple with a little hint of poison! Very cool! After a few hours: The apple has sweetened up a lot & the poisons are much more faint now. It's almost soapy. Verdict: Not quite as amazing as I remember it being last time I wore it, but still nice. I think I'll have to test this a couple more times, maybe my skin just doesn't like it as much today.

    Jezebel

In the imp: Rose, orange blossom & sandalwood, all drenched in honey! A very rich, smell - heady & indulgent. Wet on skin: As is typical, my skin has eaten the roses! It's much less intense without them & is rather strange. The sandalwood is the dominant note now, but it's been drizzled with honey & rolled in orange blossom. Dry on skin: The orange blossom has taken over as the main note now & wow! This is light & springtimey, but also solid & sexy in a sweet, flirtatious way. After a few hours: This is almost smelling like potpourri now, but not overpoweringly so. The sandalwood is making up the bulk of this scent again, followed by the orange blossom & a tiny bit of honey. Verdict: Not something I'd wear every day, but still a very pretty scent I can see myself wearing!
  13. JuliskaMarie

    Katharina

In the imp: Apricot & a little bit of orange blossom, held together with a very mild, white musk. This is a very light scent, like a breeze in springtime! Wet on skin: Juicy, musky, slightly-overripe apricot! It's somehow still very light too. Dry on skin: Ahhhh, this is so pretty! A sweet, light, fruity-floral musk! Love! After a few hours: It's faded a bit & is even muskier now, but it still has that fruity-floral sweetness to it. Verdict: Just lovely! I can see this one getting used quite regularly!

    The White Rider

In the imp: As described, white leather & sandalwood. Wet on skin: Pea vines. Um... what? Dry on skin: The pea-vine note has faded to almost nothing (thank goodness)! The sandalwood is giving off some sort of resiny-hay scent, which is weird, but kind of nice. The leather is soft, subtle & lovely. This is definitely an expensive leather - handbags & gloves for sure! It's quite a neutral smell though & it would layer up wonderfully with some floral notes! After a few hours: It's faded quite a lot & is even more neutral now. Verdict: I quite like this, I don't know if I want to wear it alone though. I have worn it layered with floral-only scents before & it's really nice (it gives the flowers a bit of toughness & depth, without overpowering them) so I'll mostly be using this for layering purposes.

    The Book

In the bottle: Old, dry, cracked & tattered brown leather. There's some old dust too & a hint of paper. Wet on skin: A really old, leatherbound book & a little bit of something greasy or oily. One of the other reviewers mentioned varnish & that sounds about right. Dry on skin: *Whimper* This smells just like an antique bookstore! Old leather, ancient parchment, dust & a hint of magic! I LOVE it! After a few hours: Faded, but even prettier! Antique bookstore still! The vanilla-ish smell that old books get is showing up more now. Verdict: I. LOVE. THIS. Sometimes I just want to smell like books, y'know?
  16. JuliskaMarie

    Wrath

In the imp: Wow, this does smell angry! Hot (like the temperature, not the flavour), peppery & with a little cinnamon & clove! Wet on skin: Warm & resiny, but with a weird, spicy-pepperiness to it! I'm not sure what to make of this, as I've never smelled anything like it before! Dry on skin: I can't say I've ever wondered what wrath would smell like, if it had a smell. But this? This smells very right for the name! It's warm & spicy & peppery & a little resiny &... kind of meaty? Steak with a VERY peppery, evil, red sauce? It's weird, it almost feels like being at a restaurant, but not any REAL restaurant. If there was a restaurant in Hell, this is exactly what it would smell like. It smells like anger. It smells like rage. It smells like fury. I don't understand what is happening, but I think I like it? I almost want to go hit something now... After a few hours: The dragons blood resin is now easier to spot & I think it might be that mixing with the pepper which is giving me the "meaty" vibe? The spices are blended better, but I can still pick all of them out. I most definitely did not get any of the sweet or floral notes that so many others mentioned! Verdict: I DON'T UNDERSTAND THIS SMELL! I like it, but I also don't! So confusing! I think I need to give it a few more tries.

    Mictecacihuatl

2013 version In the bottle: This almost smells like a really spicy potpourri with something sweet (the agave, I'm assuming) & some dried roses. A very intense (almost eye-watering) smell! Wet on skin: All that intensity is instantly gone. I'm now getting a sugary-sweet resin, with a little spice & some very mild cigar tobacco. Interesting... Dry on skin: Ooooh! A little less sweetness (though still very sweet), more cigar tobacco, the resin is less noticeable now, still there , but mostly just bringing some warmth to the whole scent & the spices are blending nicely with everything! There is the tiniest, faintest hint of rose, but only if I'm really looking for it. With the cigar, woods & spice, it smells more like potpourri than a fresh rose. Normally (most) woods turn to antiseptic on me almost instantly, but so far so good here! This is really unusual, but at the same time really nice! After a few hours: It's all blended together now to create a sweet, warm, tobacco-based scent. The woods still haven't gone bad! Hooray! They never really made a noticeable appearance, just blended in with a few other 'dry' notes. Verdict: Not at all my usual style, but I really like it! Totally different on me than when in the bottle!

    The Rose

In the imp: BIG red roses in midsummer! Super-fresh - either still on the bush, or a whole bunch of them freshly cut! There's something slightly apple-y in the background too. Wet on skin: Not quite as stunning as in the imp, it's now more like I'm lying under the bush, rather than shoving my nose in the roses, but still! My skin has a tendency to eat most rose-notes, so this is the closest thing I've found to smelling like fresh rose on my skin! Dry on skin: Nose in the roses again! There's sap & stem & leaf here too, but this is mostly FRESH RED ROSE! ON MY SKIN!This is some kind of miracle! I almost want to describe this rose as "juicy", haha! After a few hours: A teeeensy bit of sap, stem & leaf, with the memory of red roses. Pretty much all gone. Verdict: This one fades on me SO FAST, but man do I ever love it fresh! If I want to wear this, I need to take the imp with me for touch-ups, but... worth it!

    Marie

In the imp: As described - the violet is much stronger than the tea rose though. It's not fresh & playful florals though, it's sort of... snobby. Wet on skin: Weird - it's like the scents are trying to avoid me! If I take little sniffs I can smell it, but when I inhale deeply, it vanishes! Snobby violet with a little bit of haughty tea rose. This is a very stuck-up perfume & it's currently treating me like I'm not worthy! Dry on skin: VIOLET but it's gone muddy. Like we're in a hothouse. Hmmm. There is a tiny bit of tea rose in the background. My skin is not playing well with this. After a few hours: It's still a little muddy, but it has sweetened up a lot now & turned ever so slightly soapy! Verdict: Alas, my hunt for the perfect 'fresh violet' scent continues! I may swap this if it loves someone else who tries it on, otherwise I'll just put it away until I can get a scent locket.

    London

In the imp: Exactly as described! How do you make an evil-smelling tea rose? I have no idea, but they've done it! Wet on skin: The rose is very faint on me & whatever it is that's causing the smell that I can honestly only describe as "wickedness" is much stronger. This is very strange. Dry on skin: The wickedness-note has faded back down & the tea rose has come out a little. It's like a very faint & slightly more wicked version of what it smelled like in the imp. After a few hours: It's almost not there now! An even more faded version of what it was when dry. Verdict: This is a very cool scent in the imp, but on me it pretty much just disappears. Another one for the "someday when I have a scent locket" pile!
  21. JuliskaMarie

    Maiden

In the imp: A beautifully innocent white floral, with just a tiny hint of white tea leaf. Pretty! Wet on skin: The carnation is mostly what is showing up (my skin tends to eat rose, so this isn't a surprise). There's a little bit of tea in the background, but it's no longer the dry tea leaf, it's now been brewed & left to cool. Simple, but pretty! Dry on skin: Lots of tea now! Some dry, some brewed, with carnation in the background. Not as nice as it was, but not a bad smell either. After a few hours: Fancy tea. Like a white tea with dried flowers. Verdict: Nice, but I don't think my skin does this justice! It's so much prettier in the imp! I'll save this for when I get a scent locket!
  22. JuliskaMarie

    O

In the imp: This is mostly amber, with a little bit of honey & vanilla for sweetness. Nice, but a bit 'blah'. Wet on skin: Vanilla-amber. There is maybe the tiniest hint of honey, but only if I'm really looking for it. Nice - very sweet & comforting, but not exactly thrilling. Dry on skin: Vanilla! It's almost not there, like I spilled some vanilla extract on myself a while ago & forgot to wash/lick it off. The honey & amber are giving it warmth & depth, but aren't really there on their own. I'm not getting the "super-sexy" vibe that many others have reported at all! After a few hours: Warmer & deeper now. Amber-honey-vanilla. Very sweet & comforting. Verdict: A really nice scent, but it takes a long time to warm up on my skin & even then it's still quite subtle. I still don't get the "sexy" vibe, more a "warm & comforting" vibe for lazy cold-weather (or sick) days! However, it is REALLY good for layering with something that needs a little sweetening up!

    Eden

In the imp: Ahhhhh! Exactly as described by the lab & this is GORGEOUS! Wet on skin: This is very quickly turning into a fig, coconut, almond & honey cake! There's a little sandalwood & fig leaf in the background, but they're mostly just adding some depth to the scent. This is a cake. A very yummy cake! Dry on skin: Sweeeet, almost floral (in a potpourri way... maybe that's the fig leaves?) sandalwood... covered in the fig cake from before, haha! Far less foody than it was, but still a lovely scent! After a few hours: Similar to dry - Sandalwoody-fig-cake, haha! A bit weird, but very nice! Warm & comforting! Verdict: A great food scent for when I want something distinctly foody, yet not too intense or overpowering. A good "lazy day" scent that would also work as a baking-day scent!
  24. JuliskaMarie

    Halfling

In the imp: Pastry, something bitter, spicy & nutty (I'm guessing this is the Kukui nut?) & a little porridge in the background. The bitter/spicy/nut note is a bit intense, but there's something about it that I really like! Wet on skin: Same, except that the bitter/spicy note is amping more than the rest, to the point where I feel like I *houldn't like this... but I do! I really, really do! Dry on skin: Mostly the spicy-bitter nuts (still a bit too spicy/bitter - if I sniff it very closely, my eyes feel like they're about to start watering). The pastry has most definitely turned to crumbs now & the porridge is still in the background holding it all together. The spicy/bitter/nut smell is still making me think I shouldn't be enjoying this, but I absolutely am! I'm surprised at how many of the previous reviews label it as "sweet", because I actually wish it was a bit sweeter - maybe if I had one of the honey single-notes to layer it with? After a few hours: The bitterness has calmed down a lot as the perfume has faded, but it definitely still has an edge to it! Layered with "O": I decided to try layering it with O, since that's quite mild on me & dries to mostly vanilla to see if that fixes the "too bitter/spicy" issue &... it does! It calms the bitter-spice note waaaay down, so you only get a hint of it. It's still nice on its own, but in a weird way - layered with O though? I love it! No confusion, no "I shouldn't like this", just lovely! Warm, comforting & foodie - like I imagine a Halfling's (or Hobbit's!) house to smell! My husband's not a huge fan of it though, haha! Oh well! Layered with "Good": I figured I should try layering this with at least one RPG scent & of the ones I own, Good seemed like the best starting point because of how sweet-yet-subtle it is. Unlike O, this doesn't completely neutralise the bitter-spice note, but the musky sweetness it adds definitely makes it more manageable! I'm surprised at how very different it smells layered! This is a very cool combo! Verdict: Strange, but I like it! This (both plain & layered) is a very appropriate scent for a Halfling character! It layers extremely well (which is the point of the RPG series, so the lab has definitely nailed that quality here!) - I like it plain, but I love it layered! I really need to try layering it with some of the other RPG scents soon!
  25. JuliskaMarie

    Cockaigne

In the imp: As per the lab's description: honey, cakes, milk & some sweet wine! Oh, this is heavenly! Wet on skin: About the same, except the cakes have a little more depth & the honey is eeeeeverywhere! These cakes have been soaked in it! The milk & wine are still there, the cakes & honey are just playing the lead. Yum! Dry on skin: Oh, hello there wine! It smells like I'm drinking warmed (possibly even mulled?) wine, while overindulging on honey-soaked cake! There's some warm, honeyed milk in the background too. GAH! THIS IS SO AMAZING! I never want to stop sniffing my wrist! [My 3-year-old just came over & demanded to smell my wrist & he seems to love it as much as I do, haha!] After a few hours: The honey-cakes are back (not as fresh as they smelled before, more like I've been indulging all day) with the wine & the milk in the background. Yuuuum! Verdict: This is my all-time favourite food scent! I really need to get a bottle of this! This note does morph a little on my skin, but every variant is just delicious!
