Minh, have you tried Mr prenderghast or cafe mille et une nuit? I've not tried the first, but the second is a lovely cologne featuring coffee and tobacco. I offered in another thread to death match two other tobacco scents, but I've been a little too stuffed up to do it properly. Mars ultor just plain vanishes on me within minutes. Six minutes! Mostly benzoin but the best benzoin because of the supporting players. Until minute seven when it's gone. Eyes made strong and have with sleep is a gentler stroke of that same deep tobacco, under a veil of musk and ambergris, embellished by non-foodie cacao. I really like it. I know you mentioned missing out on eastern comma, but it does appear in the sales forum (also on the fb sales pages). Other tobacco scents that might interest you are Question Mark and Incipient Madness.

Sherlock as a scent is very high pitched and bright. Nothing like the scents you mention liking. It's the scent equivalent of the high notes of a violin. Elegba is mostly coconutty rum, but I do like it. Perversion is another great scent but very different from those you mention liking. I wouldn't think to reach for either of those if I were craving tobacco. Interfector I've never tried. Ogun was mostly bright candy melon to me. And Sarah I tried but then sold my lot of pretty deadly imps as only Lily really called to me at the time (a time of ruthless culling) and I sadly don't remember much about them.

Haven't smelled Lurid Bonbon yet, but that might fill in for the wulric

this is a beautiful, slightly herbal, clear and bright. a non-sugary and non-powdery floral. I really love it. I was only able to afford a decant, but I intend to treasure said decant for as long as I can. elegant and sophisticated, makes me swoon a bit. over my own hair-smell. is that weird?

I was recently frimped an imp of snake oil! finally got to try the most precious of precious. I liked it enough to finally buy my first bottle of snake oil, and I went for the 8oz bath oil from the post instead of a perfume bottle from the lab. I love using the bath oils as after-shower moisturizer on my skin and in my hair. the thought of walking around in a gorgeous cloud of vanilla resin goodness called to me. alas, the big bottle has very little scent to it. almost nothing. there's a tiny echo of vanilla when i smell the bottle, but when applied to my skin, this is for all practical purposes an unscented lotion. other bo's such as selbstverliebt, cacao-dusted sugar skulls, the metamorph bath oils have glorious scents that waft up from my skin throughout the day. none of that happening here.

2014 version. the biggest surprise for me was how bright and pretty this was. clove has a tendency to amp on me, but not here. instead I had a clear and luminous pine scent that wasn't at all cleanser-realted. just like a blast of evergreen resins turned into gorgeous strong perfume.

rich deep juicy apple and plum cakey dessert. smoky at the start. not a lot of custard on me. good throw. really fun to try, as it's different than what I usually wear.

I was excited to try this scent for my love of labdanum and angelica and resins in general. mostly on my skin this was strong and galbanum heavy. light and clean and bright for a resin scent. galbanum backed by mastic. the other notes not really detectable. (galbanum has a tendency to do this on me).

Smokestack

just dabbed on a little from a frimp at the end of my workday. it's smoky and resinously sweet and pretty although there's something in the background that would keep me from reaching for it often. it is mostly smokey on my skin, with a bit of resiny stickiness, but under that there's a layer of something floral, something spicy. reminding me of myrrh+lily+cassia+vetiver+apple where nothing is actually amping (and in fact none of these notes may even be present, but this is the best way I can think of to describe what I'm smelling underneath a creamy haze of smoke). smokey djinn didn't work at all on my skin, so it's nice to find a smoke scent that does. Dries down to a very apple-y myrrh. a little goes a mighty long way. -
dusk, do you like tobacco scents? wearing incipient madness today and it made me think of you and this thread! also, there might still be smutty goblin hg on the trading post's etsy. that to me is very sweet and the musks come across as a bit smokey (not as much as chestnuts roasting on an open pyre smoke). similar to that, and often lurking in the forum sales, is mopsfledermaus, which is dark and rich and somewhat smoky and sweet. warning: addictive!
-
I love relics of herself. It is a subtle thing: alittle smoky, barely sweet, but gorgeous. Also devil's night is supposed to be smoky and sweet.
-
If puddin has any of the atmo spray, chestnuts roasting on an open fire, it's sweet and smoky and amazing.

I like silkybat and I do like bpal's snow notes. this combines all of the above quite nicely. the scent is light to my nose, as is silkybat. it's mostly the frost and snow that stand out, with the bat very much in the background. not much throw and fades sooner than hg's like IBT, smutty goblin. this is a good one when a subtle scented gloss is needed.

when the trading post update arrived, and opened with that adorable art and THIS SCENT, I knew I was in trouble. I love licorice...and tobacco...and musk and myrrh always bring something to the party. this was a blind bottle buy and I'm so happy I went for it, as it smells amazing! it's quite cologne-y, with licorice as the bright top note and a rich and chewy base of musk, resin and leaf. theres' something about it that reminds me a little of hellboy (although that scent didn't quite do it for me) and lacus mortis (which I do enjoy, although this is much much lighter and easier to wear). this. thank you, goblins!

Antikythera mechanism is tobacco, vanilla and wood.

I've tried this one, and can say that it's another simple blend that is more than the sum of its parts. However, it reminded me so much of No. 93 Engine that I had to go and look up the notes. They both mostly smell like motor oil on me, with myrrh/frankincense (can't tell them apart) jazzing things up a bit. I think I still prefer No. 93 Engine, even though its components list is massive, and it is so extremely potent that it knocks my socks off! I thought it might be of interest to the op. Liisa on fb likes to layer streets of Detroit with blueberry picking, which is on my to do list.

^^ made me think of Streets of Detroit. Have you tried that one?

I don't know if it comes across as simple, but it is delicious tobacco: have you tried visions of autumn 7? it's deep and rich and delicious. also eastern comma is fantastic. maybe one of my favorite bpals that came out last year. (it's up there with blueberry picking!) I agree with the vixen and haunted. they are two of my favorite gc's. sweets to the sweet is just plain strong and sweet. I started reaching for it on those days when I didn't know what I wanted to wear and it was usually the right choice. both shanghai and blueberry picking have a combination of lemon verbena and honeysuckle, so maybe keep your eyes peels for that combo in future blends, and if one of those notes is a favorite, using the search function on the lab's page to see if any other scents containing it call to you. two of your scents contain bright, sweet fruit (blueberries and melons) so you might find luck with bpal scents containing peaches, apricots, other berries. depraved, imp, marquise de merteuil (has many notes but is so lovely!), tamora. did you get to try any of 2014's peaches? last yea'r s shunga awabi divers veers a bit more into the androgynous/masculine (although any scent works on any gender) but it's grown into a very intersting patchouli/apricot blend on my skin. a good combo of dark from the resin and bright from the fruit, without getting cloying.

fury, are you open to woods in various seasons? a world where there are octobers has woods with leaves and a jolt of maple-sweetness. very nice and comforting some did not find it doesn't matter which way you go to be comforting, but on my skin it's a lovely and soft blend of woods and musks (the wood aspect is more warm cut wood in a carpenter's workshop vs trees in a forest) and yes to black forest. ship of hel is in the same family as black forest but a little more complex to my nose. of all of these, world where there are octobers is prob closest to the other scents in terms of wood+delicious. (I adore wulric too! )

Trying to find the right winter scent for me
annemathematics replied to childdoll's topic in Recommendations
talvikuu is an older scent. it's come out a few years so you should be able to find something on the forum. or it may reappear in the future so it's something for you to look forward to. the trading post's a lady tall and white is actually talvikuu's kin. a bit more feminine. I'll have to death match them for you. many people splurged on the lady as she had vanilla and sandalwood listed and they expected a sweeter scent. but she's quite snowy, and as a result I think too many people are now selling her off. this could be to your gain, should you want to grab a decant or bottle/partial. wintertime and nuclear winter from this year's yules might also work for you. and the cold white musk scent neither peace nor rest?? read the reviews and see if this calls to you. last year's yules included a scent called winter stars. it contains mugwort which is a strong herbal note, somewhat earthy. when I huff my wrist to detect notes, the mugwort stand out. but if I just close my eyes and smell and let my mind form an image out of the scent, I really truly do smell the bright crisp air of a cold and cloudless winter night. it's an example of beth's brilliance and one of my favorites from last year's yules. I've only worn it at night, which may have put a bit of bias in my experience. -

A lady talk and white might also for the bill. Testing it now and it's lovely. -

The jotunheimr candle at the post smells completely and wonderfully like talvikuu. I also love that stuff! Are you serious? I may just have to think about getting it. I wasn't even planning on getting a candle at all! Look at what you have done! The candles are clearly of a sublime quality, but I'd love it if they were a little scent-louder. I do still sometimes use the melted wax to scent my skin though... -

Talvikuu? Shivering boy? Go to sleep, darlings? Fimbul winter? Black ice? -
This celadon-tinted candle smells bright and beautiful and very close to the bpal perfume Talvikuu. Swoon.
