Immediately, I get a sweet note and beautiful powdery florals! The sweet note is no doubt the honey and it mingles with the other scents here and smells slightly tropical. There is a slight antiseptic-like note becomes slightly evident in powdery notes which thankfully does not become more prominent. This is more stunning when applied in warmer weather as body heat seems to amplify the beautiful sweet notes. This was the first imp I gobbled up and would love to get a 5mL!

    Delight

Almost faecal upon initial application, I get a very pungent jasmine note. However, a distinct powder note emerges - soft, gentle, womanly and nowhere near as aggressive as in the beginning. Half an hour later and the offensive note has mingled successfully with the powdery one but the scent overall has faded a great deal. Sadly, in 3 hours the scent of this oil has almost disappeared completely though there is a slight sweet note which is a strain to smell. I tried this a few times and was very disappointed that my body chemistry just kept on swallowing it right up.

    Psyche

As crazy as it sounds I get something very similar to orange blossom or neroli in this! It's not listed in the scent notes but I swear that is what I smell in this! It's very floral and smells very gender-neutral, and whenever I wear this I get totally knocked out - put to sleep because it's so relaxing. I do detect the musk and lavender in this and it works wonderfully with my body chemistry, especially in the hotter weather.

    Tiger Lily

I know why this is supposed to be honeyed lilies, and it is delightful. There is something in it that reminds me slightly of orange blossom, but ideally this is not as sweet as I’d like it. We’ll see how it smells in a while and whether it will have calmed down at all. So far, dry floral with the faintest touch of amber and honey. Brief surge of amber towards end and total drydown to a soapy, powdery finish. Not a keeper for me as it smells far too similar on drydown to a lot of things I have.

    Regan

I had no idea initially what notes were in this when I jotted down my initial thoughts on this fragrance but there was a definite vanilla or even rum/whiskey note. It's a slight gourmand fragrance with powdery and calming florals. Wasn't exactly sure what the floral was but this reminds me a lot of Psyche, albeit a girlier version. Several hours later this dies down to a hint of powdery florals. It's a very soft, lingering fragrance.

    Le Serpent Qui Danse

This has been named as recommended if you like Philosophy's Amazing Grace which I do adore but I confess I do not quite recognise the similarity myself. There may be the clean, lemon verbena antiseptic-like note which resembles the freshness in Amazing Grace. It has a sweet floral which doesn't strike me as gardenia but more like sweet pea - that must be the violet too. It reminds me of a commercial fragrance I can't quite put my finger on but one I've experienced. I tried this a couple of times but something about it doesn't quite sit right for me. It's a tad too perfumey. Well worth holding onto the imp though!

    Tamora

This reminds me wonderfully of Endymion and Fae! An absolute delight! It's most similar to Fae by my nose and is a golden, warm sort of fruity scent - very nectarish. I definitely get the amber, golden sandalwood, peach blossom and vanilla bean. This reminds me of peach schnapps, oh-so yummy!

    Fae

I can instantly pick up the peach from this, it is delicious! I can also pick up a faint lemon scent which goes very well with the peach, thankfully. Generally I have issues with lemon as it doesn't seem to do very well with my body chemistry. This reminds me of sweet citrus candy or something I've eaten before but cannot fully place. I tested this after Endymion and it is an excellent follow-up!

    Forbidden Fruit

Naughty me, I dismissed this and stupidly so. It was a freebie with a mystery pack I bought and it was the lemon note that made me wrongly think it'd be not to my liking. WRONG! The lemon fades nicely into the background and doesn't go all antiseptic as some lemon notes can go. The other notes in this are lotus, amber and various unspecified lightly scented flowers. I love it.

    Nefertiti

At the beginning it is almost masculine in its strength. Very reminiscent of Salome but more wearable and more of a personal fragrance. The drydown is the powdery floral that I personally adore but some may not find to their liking.

    Harlot

Rose with a hint of cinnamon. Thanks to a very generous lady, I was able to compare two samples of this two years apart in age and the older was sweeter, more mellow and the cinnamon had calmed down and wasn't quite piquant thankfully. In the younger sample, the cinnamon has a while to go before settling down. If you don't like rose straight as many people don't, this is well worth trying. It's very sexy!

    Salomé

More of a room fragrance for me, but one that really alters your mind. You want this scent lingering if you need your mind to be grounded. Base is largely sandalwood, with spikes of jasmine every so often. The other main dominant note is ylang ylang - this is the note that knocks me out and makes me all peaceful and calm. Not to be worn often but definitely powerful and ages very well, as I noticed when I got the chance to try 2 samples of differing ages (the older one being more mellow and showing gentler integration of all the notes, very fluid).

    Spellbound

This is pure Nag Champa incense on me - it reminds me of the few Indian festivities I've been privileged to go to. Because it's too familiar and not exactly a fragrance as such for me, I wouldn't wear it but it was very nice to try. I do like it as a room fragrance.

    La Belle au Bois Dormant

Heady, exotic, and almost unbearably lush but just as it starts to get too overpowering, it dies down into a softer scent. This rings very well with my body chemistry on sultry summer days. The very first I've tried and I had to have it in a 5mL because it's just so unforgettable.

    Hellcat

This complements the Alternative Breeding scent I'm burning at present - 'Inscentual'. I absolutely love it, not sure if I would purchase in a 5mL but will be very distraught when my imp is finished up! I smell the honey mead, rum and sweet almond most of all - the hazelnut doesn't seem to be there so much but the buttercream has successfully melded with the rum. This is true deliciousness!

    Shango

This smells straight off to me of vanilla, sweet apples and a hint of sandalwood thrown in. Usually I don't like a lot of the notes above (especially notes like banana and pineapple) but I find myself constantly drawn to wear this and it makes an excellent olfactory companion in the summer months! Not obviously or commercially 'tropical' but more of a true tropical scent, something you would expect to smell if you lived in such areas but more likely from the local cuisine, at least from my personal experience. Am I ever glad I received this in a mystery imp pack!

    Sybaris

I just got this in a big bunch of imps today and because I was after a nice gourmand fragrance decided to test this imp first. It is truly delicious - spicy and alluring because of the vanilla-esque tonka bean. Think of it as a gourmand fragrance with a lot of depth. I'm not sure what the spices are (they aren't specified) but they aren't too overpowering, and upon drydown the violet present starts to peek through but does not dominate. I also feel that the clove is used very sparingly and thankfully as this is a note that can overpower very easily. The official description - bright violet with sweet clove, Mediterranean spice notes and tonka bean. This will work equally well in hotter and colder weather but I bet it's a real stunner in wintertime! A scent made for seduction!

    O

This is one of the first scents from BPAL that I got all the notes straight-off! Honey, amber, vanilla! I absolutely adore it and am contemplating whether or not to get a 5mL as this could be very, very wearable for everyday. I hear it doesn't age so well and is one of the loveliest semi-gourmand amber scents I've tried in the catalogue so far.

    Persephone

Rose seems to work well on me in conjunction with other things and I got htis as a random imp in a mystery pack but it absolutely hated me. It's too cloying and I don't get enough of its fruitiness because it fades instantly and starts on the rose immediately. It would probably have been more enjoyable as a fragrance if the pomegranate were more prominent on me.

    Snake Oil

One of the most sophisticated vanilla scents I've had the pleasure to try. I detect the sandalwood but it is very smoothly integrated into the fragrance oil as a whole. I also detect what could be a hint of warm, soft musk that rounds out the composition as a whole and for me this fragrance had excellent staying power.

Looking for a BPAL that Resembles a Favorite Perfume

Some similar fragrances crop up in this thread too - http://www.bpal.org/index.php?showtopic=3798 - it's worth going through for reference.

    Recommending a BPAL pumpkin blend...

I *hate* those sorts of pumpkin scents traditionally but a lovely person sent me an almost empty imp of Pumpkin Queen and it's delicious! I recommend hunting it down for trial if you can!

    Sleepytime BPAL

Psyche knocks me out like nobody's business and I sleep so well when I wear it and I have a history of nightmares, night terrors and constantly waking up so that when it's time to get up I look like the living dead. I recommend it highly.

Apples?? Finding the right apple scent

I'm surprised no one's mentioned Shango? It says red apples, I didn't realise it was red apples but after trying it blindly and not reading what notes were in it, apple is very prominent in this. I know The Hesperides supposedly has golden apples but I didn't find it super prominent. Could be that I didn't give it as much of a chance as I could, being the impulsive newbie...

Looking for a BPAL that Resembles a Favorite Perfume

I would love love love to know this too! It's not easy to get alas. Jacob's Ladder always reminds me of Vol de Nuit. It's slightly more golden and less melancholy, but I think they're similar. Lucretia is in the same family, as well. I would love love love to know this too! It's not easy to get alas. Wow, I'm surprised I missed this question because I would have responded sooner. Vol de Nuit is one of my all-time favorites...it's woodsy, smooth and beautiful. I strongly suggest trying "And There Was a Great Cry in Egypt," one of the Salon scents. It's resinous, woodsy, soft, slightly powdery, and enigmatic, very much in the same style as VdN. Oh you wonderful, wonderful people! Thank you, I will be chasing those down like the olfactory harpy I have become.
