In the bottle, I couldn't smell anything. I actually worried that somehow the scent had escaped somewhere along the line (most of my imps are "hand-me-downs"). As soon as it went on, all I could think of was that I knew this scent. It took me a few minutes to place it, but then I had it. Irish Spring soap. Very clean, but just odd for a perfume. An hour-ish later (after being covered up with wrist warmers and sleeves for most of that time), it's mellowed out into something lovely. Still a little bit of the Irish Spring scent, but much more complex. I'm generally a fan of clean smelling things, so this one might end up being something I want more of. Not my absolutely favorite of the ones I've tried thus far, but it's ranking up there!

I sniffed the bottle first, and was really confused by this one. I had NO idea what I was smelling. I suppose Bay Rum is very different from rum, because it didn't strike me as rum at all. On, all I'm getting at the moment is a weird fire/ashes/soapy smell. Normally, I'd be fine with smelling like a campfire, but this is just weird. It might be the soapy bit. It's also a bit more masculine than I like, at least on me, but I don't think I want to try this one on the hubbie either.

I can understand why people like this one--it's a great blend of scents. But I have a strong aversion to patchouli, and I'm not that into floral scents either. Ah well, it's something to trade!

I've been getting in the habit of putting a scent on, and then jumping online to see what's in it. Less preconceived notions, and all that. When I opened the bottle, this one was mint, through and through. Then I put it on, and the mint died down quite a bit, bringing out the musk and what I thought might be anise (still not sure what that part is). Unfortunately, any musk scent to me is a "grandma" smell, because my grandma wore a white musk perfume all the time. So this one, with musk and mint (since she also chewed a lot of gum), is totally flashing me back to riding in Grandma's car as a kid. It's not an unlovely scent, but I don't think it's for me.

The Antikythera Mechanism

Opened the gifted imp of this one this morning, and I was concerned about how long my friend might have had it. All I smelled was alcohol (or something burn-y), and I thought maybe this had aged too long. As soon as it was on my skin, though, it was amazing. I couldn't pick out the individual notes until I looked up what they were, but as soon as I read vanilla, I knew why I liked it so much. Not getting much identifiable tobacco (which is probably good, since it's not a scent I'm overly fond of). It's still throwing lightly (3 hours after application), so that I get occasional sniffs when I move my hands. This is going on my MUST ORDER list! -
A friend of mine just gifted me with a box of imps that he had lying around. This one was the second one I tried, and I'm in love with it. It reminds me of an incense that I used to buy in high school/college that I think was called Bayberry. I keep sniffing my wrists, because already (2 hours later) it's faded down pretty far, but I may just need to use a bit more the next time I put it on!
