Roasted peanuts, peanut leaves, and dark musk. Holy Peanut Batman! This is amazing. It's Nutter Butters on crack and I love Nutter Butters! This starts off a warm peanutty goo and morphs into a foodie musk. Normally I can't wear warm/vanilla foodie scents because they make me hungry all day, but this has just enough musk to walk the line of food and spice that I'm not making myself drool all day.

Salt, seaweed, and white mint with a hint of star anise, birchbark, and lemon peel. ok, I've never done this before...so be gentle.. This is beautiful in its quiet oddness. At first sniff I said out loud "how strange" because I couldn't help myself, but it is a wonderful strange. It smells exactly like a wet sea breeze here on the East Coast. Not warm and tropical, but like wet rocks and seaweed. My aunt was with me and she commented that it smelled lemony to her, but I barely get the lemon. I get more salt/seaweed and sweet anise and mint. It is light, delicate and beautiful. So glad I picked it up. It's not fishy at all.

I'm not getting any of the listed scents. To me, In the bottle it smells like a cinnamon cookie and on me it smells like a fresh from the oven Snickerdoodle. A few hours later I smell like a vanilla cookie. I like it.

On first application it's very soapy, but it dries down and the freesia, orchid and jasmine come out to play. A few hours later I realize that I'm wearing an amped up version of Vampire Tears - which I have a small hoarding problem with...no wonder I like Black Swallowtail. It's Vampire Tears' big sister.

I really love this. The patchouli is different from other Lab scents. I mainly got this because when I opened the bottle and sniffed I was immediately thinking "ooo, this reminds me of something...now what is it?" I put it down and went on to try other things, but something kept bringing me back. I finally realized what it is. When I was little we had a votive candle in our Halloween decorations that I associated with the season and witches...welp it was the light patchouli in it and this smells exactly the same. It brings back such great memories. If you give the patchouli a chance to settle down this is very lovely.

This is a great idea because as someone who lurked for awhile before joining I seem to spend a lot of time searching for definitions or descriptions of lingo. For example, I know what it means to decant something, but in regards to BPAL I don't know what the expectation or standard is for decants. Also the do this, don't do this / report this, don't report this makes me super nervous to ask any questions anywhere. So I basically spend all my time reading reviews, occasionally responding on the tv show discussions and making a few purchases in sales. The search function doesn't have all the answers, but a newbie guide section would go a long way to making some of us feel more comfortable navigating this vast board.
