Ehecatl is still my favorite lime, such a shame it got discontinued! Lucky for me I managed to snap up a bottle beforehand.
-
Rumpelstilzchen is one of my personal cold-weather faves. It's warm and smoky and has just enough spice to perk me up!
-
The Deep Ones is by far my favorite aquatic, it reminds me of being out on a boat in the middle of open water. I use Egle for a sharper spray and Windward Passage for the seaside and I'm always looking for more!
-
It's not dominant, but I adore Humpback Whale's ambergris. It's nice and subtle but it makes everything else really pop!

Light, clean, and one of the few BPAL scents that's succeeded in giving me dreamless, restful sleep.

If your top 5 scents are... Then try these!

Any recs based on these? The First Soft Snow 2013 Rose Red 2013 Whip Glasgow Gods of Intercourse Thanks! <3 -
Sweet almondy vanilla on its own. Not one I'd jump to buy, but not bad. I did make the mistake of wearing it to bed and it gave me a dream bad enough to almost cause stress-vomit. So yeah. Off to the swaps.

Ooooh, this look interesting! Any thoughts for a dark, dark brunette with coppery-golden highlights in the right light? It's just about to the top of my boobs at the moment and with a bit of a wave.

Seance seems to be the perfect bedtime scent for me. I love rose scents, but this one is delicate enough not to keep my senses on alert.
-
Octopus is one of my favorite aquatics. It's not as powerful as others, so I use it when I don't want to show off but I'm still feeling oceanic!
-
It's more straight-up aquatic than boggy, but I found that The Spell of the Eastern Sea has a few more swampy notes in it than other aquatics. It might be the kelp and willows.
-
Yes please more of this forever. I may actually have to snag a bottle of this, I don't do that very often. Rose and pomegranate have done some very nice things on my skin and I keep getting compliments!
-
Thanks, everybody! I'll have to try these out! :wub2:

Seeing as under normal circumstances, I'll whore myself for rose or leather, this one seemed like an ideal combination! And wow was I right. -quietly snags a bottle for future use-

I know there are a few threads floating around pertaining to bedtime BPAL and suchlike, but I'm wondering if anybody's had a scent that they wore to bed that knocked them out cold. I have some pretty nasty anxiety but I usually end up avoiding using meds right before going to bed because I'm usually doing homework and I need clarity for that. When it doesn't prevent me from sleeping entirely, it lends itself to some intense (but admittedly creative) nightmares. I've used Somnus and Baku pretty regularly but I think I've acquired some sort of immunity, regrettably. Long story short, does anybody know of anything that would work in that vein?

Dragon's blood and mint. I wouldn't think they'd work together as well as they do, but they blend into something warming and alert.

This one faded faster than I expected it to, all my other frankincense-based things stay on for at least six hours. However, I don't mind it as much with this, as it tapers out into a very pleasant woodiness towards the end. It comes on a little too strong at the start for my tastes, but it's well worth it to let it mellow.

Strawberry Moon was hardcore hot pink for me, in the best possible way!

This is a totally unexpected reaction and has never happened to me before with any BPAL product. This one burns on my skin. I put a dab on my neck and it's stinging in a really nasty way and it's freaking me out. Maybe it's just that my skin is dry, but that didn't happen with the Strawberry Moon I had on this morning. I'm chalking this one up to ill-fated chemistry and giving the decant to a friend. I like the scent well enough, but I'll take not smelling like gingerbread over physical pain any day.

Wonderfully wispy and a little too faint. If only it lasted a bit longer, I certainly like what little I could get from it!
-
For 2013: I don't get much of the incense, weirdly enough. I do love it, however, because I get slammed with sense-memories of baking and spiced cider and various other kitchen-based activities. Quite nice, overall, definitely a keeper!

Best BPALs for SUMMER - is it hot, sweltering, sticky outside?
IambicDearie replied to Donnababe's topic in Recommendations
It's strange, but I was in Athens for two weeks over the summer and ended up wearing Morocco a lot. It never struck me as a 'hot day' type of scent but it worked very nicely! -
Tart and floral, with a good amount of depth and long-lasting enough for my tastes. Definitely a winner.

2011. Oh yes. Deep and boozy and sweet without being cloying. Incredibly liquid and slinky, perfect for a bleak autumn day. It fills you up and makes you want to settle down in it and just luxuriate.
