this smells very earthy on my skin, almost overpoweringly so like zombi. i'm also getting something nutty and sour in the background...and then everything i've mentioned is drenched in booze. not pleasant...but reading other reviews i'm hoping that smut calms down into something sweeter in an hour or so. i'm crossing my fingers that this will morph into a pleasant scent.

lucky enough to get this with lump of coal and fee from pilotkitten...and while i thought i'd love this one, a burnt sharpness is running under the caramel and butter that i get from mitzvah, ruining what could be a really good scent. also, my skin seems to have eaten the oil...may give this another go at a later date, but for now i'm disappointed.

cockaigne's cake is slapping me in the face, grabbing my collar, and throwing me against the wall. i think i'm going to have to wash it off, it's just too strong, and the notes smell sour on my skin. i had high hopes for this one

Curiouser and curiouser. Milk and honey with rose, carnation and bergamot. alice made me smell like old lady. i smelled carnation at first, then as usual my skin amped up the rose. but i had another oil testing on my other hand, so i may give alice another spin since i bought 10ml of her

i've had this imp for a while and never tried it. now i'm kicking myself...it smells wonderful. i have the 05 version, i immediately thought 'brown sugar!' when i put it on. but on the drydown, i'm now thinking i smell like apple pie. sort of a fruity, tart undertone and lots of sugar. i'm loving it. and it's strong, i know when i wear it normally it will have lots of throw. gorgeous.

this review brought to you by the swapping kindness of pilotkitten. i was seriously expecting a knockout scent when i opened my imp of snow white 2005, it is SO popular on the forums and LJ. i was sorely disappointed upon sniffing my imp and smelling--nothing. not a thing. and now i'm sitting here a little freaked out that i have play doh oil on my hand. this is one of those i guess you had to be there for. definitely not one of my better imps

i was very kindly frimped the moon in a swap off the forum, but it's taken me a couple of weeks to get around to trying this. the jasmine immediately comes across, i'm not very good with individual notes but i'm going to take a stab and say vanilla or magnolia, with a hint of spice and greenery. i don't think i understand the association this scent has in representing the moon...but all that aside, the oil itself is hardly unpleasant. i wore it today because i was feeling girly, and i think i found something appropriate i'm not sure that i would buy a bottle, but i'll keep my imp around.

i lucked out and purchased a bottle of this, after i gave my testable sniffy to a friend who REALLY loves BPAL rose scents. i only gave it a sniff before i passed it on, but the smell was so much like a fresh cut rose, that i thought i'd better hunt some up. i am one of those people who can keep roses around just for the pleasure of sniffing them every now and again i was a bit put off when i cracked open my bottle, because the first thing that hit me was GRASS. GRASS GRASS GRASS....GET YOUR FRESH CUT GRASS RIGHT HERE! but as i'm finding with a lot of the skillfully blended BPAL scents, rose red morphs into something damned near incredible. a fresh cut rose. amazing, and just the thing to keep around and sniff for that rush of pleasure.

i'm losing my 'i hate florals' stance one imp at a time. this is a bright and sunny scent, without checking the description i swore it was a fresh cut orange. now in the drydown other notes are peeking their heads out, with jasmine in the front. very sweet blend with lots of throw too. nice.
-
i got this because it was thanksgiving, and my little bid slipped by unnoticed on ebay. i wasn't expecting it to be so good i get vanilla, and patchouli, with pepper, maybe clove. my nose isn't sensitive enough to tell, i just know that my wrist, of its own accord, keeps making its way to my nose. sniffsniff. i love this stuff. i'm probably going to covet this bottle!
-
i'm SO glad i tracked this one down...cinnamon and clove are two of my favorite notes, and they really shine in this blend. the pepper gives it that extra 'oomph' for a warm, spicy smell that really agrees with me. perfect, just what i was hoping three witches would be. i'll be hunting up plenty more to supplement my bottle

i'm skeptical about florals, because i'm always of the opinion i run the risk of smelling like an old woman. no offense to old ladies still, considering i got my imp from someone who is mad for rose scents, i was expecting to hate it. and surprisingly, i don't at all. it's a crazy rush of rose right out of the bottle, thump you over the head and screaming like a crazy person ROSE! ROSE! ALL SORTS OF ROSE! but eventually it calms down into a very nice blend of fresh rose with a hint of herbal something. it's kind of like walking into a flower shop, that first really pleasant breath you take right before you smile. i like it. i may even venture into more girly floral stuff, now that i see it can be pleasant.

i got a testable sniffy of R'Lyeh from a friend who said she thought it would suit me, so i'm assuming she thinks i should smell like a ripe pink grapefruit with a bit of sugar sprinkled on top. i'm not quite sure why. i don't get any of the aquatic notes yet, but i've only been wearing it a half hour. all this scent is to my nose is pure grapefruit, not entirely unpleasant, and sort of refreshing even. but i doubt i would hunt up a bottle of it.

this smelled so good in the bottle, i was hoping that it didn't go sour on me, as some of the bpal sweet and foodies tend to. and it hasn't, at all...it's got amazing throw, i can smell it even when i'm not sniffing at my wrist. creamy, cheesecake goodness, with a hint of tartness. i love it, now if only i could get more than an imp of it
-
this message is brought to you by maijiasu, who sent me a testable sniffy of shub-niggurath. damn her eyes. this is SO GOOD. i know as a newb i have a snowball's chance in hell of tracking down more, because it's hoarded like gold. but i've been sniffing the ginger goodness of my wrists for damned near a half hour. i admit i panicked for a minute when the scent went from ginger to straight up lemon, but it slowly died down to a smouldering ginger after a bit that i am now in love with. out of all the arkham scents, this should definitely be the one that is more readily available, at least for another limited run. oh well, a girl can dream.

i bought a 10ml of this and was wary of it after sniffing from the bottle, it smells thick and overpowering. still, i'll try almost anything once, so after getting ready for bed i daubed on some baku...on my wrists, since i usually sleep with them near my face, and also a bit in my hair. admittedly, it had been a long day and i was on the tired side, but.... i slept the best sleep i've had in weeks. will have to give this another go to see if it was a fluke occurrence. wow.
-
i took a chance and bought a 10ml of this from Aunt Pat because i knew her bottle would be aged. my skin chemistry tends to flip the lower notes to the top, and i was praying to god this would happen with blood, so i could smell clove-y....and it worked! i don't get any of the cherry that others have commented on, the myrrh comes to the front giving me that head shop incense buzz, and the clove is definitely in there as well. i LOVE warm scents like this, i'm so glad i got a giant bottle.

The essence of nobility, brutality and true Will made flesh and propelled through the eons by an ever-burning hatred: black patchouli, neroli, tonka, cinnamon, bitter clove, leather, black musk, coffin wood and fiery ginger. i haven't actually tried this one myself, i've been starting a 'boy' scent imp box and my boyfriend tried it of his own accord. good boy. at first i thought it smelled almost MINTY. but on the drydown it's definitely gone ginger and clove, with a hint of leather. although i really wanted Doc Constantine to work on him, it went off into too musky a scent, but the Count is right up my alley. it's masculine, with a soft side to it that i really, really enjoy. and now i may go pounce him.

this came out of the bottle and turned into a bouquet of scents on my skin...almost overpowering floral, but not in an offputting way for once. i'm the first to say i'm not a fan of flowery scents, but i'm loving black moon. seems to work itself out into a blend of goodness as it dries, and even turns a bit sweeter, which i definitely like. sweet, musky and green... does that make any sense? oh well, i love it. i am really happy i managed to track down a bottle and a half of it to add to my collection.

i knew i would like this one, and i'm not sure why. from the bottle i get fruit and sugar, but it immediately turned into apple when wet on the skin. in the drydown i get a lot more of the spicy pepper, but not overpowering like djinn, because it's still sugary. it's an interesting group of smells to be sure...i don't think i'm going to be able to give this one up. depending on how my boyfriend responds to it, i might even look for another imp or two, even though i doubt i'd invest in a bottle.
-
in the bottle and on the skin, this smells FANTASTIC. i keep opening the bottle to sniff it, and then i sniff my wrist. funnel cake! cotton candy! it's like being a kid again.
-
i just got this one and i was excited to try it...from the bottle it smells really fruity, but on skin i get a sweet grapefruit, not sour or tangy like you might expect, with a blend of the ginger note. it doesn't seem to have a lot of throw, either. i haven't yet found the citrusy scent that really agrees with me. i might give this one another go for the subtlety factor, but i have a sneaking suspicion it will end up in my swap pile.

LOVE. INFERNO. i adore cinnamon, and i loved this one immediately after a sniff from the bottle. it turned into goodness on my skin, thank god, and i just know i'm going to track down a 5ml of it. my boyfriend loved it as well, even came in for yet another kiss after a neck nuzzle, and that's always the sign of a good 'un. this was a frimp from a forum purchase as well, otherwise i might have never found it!

i may have to give aunt caroline another spin, because i'm a bit upset that she let me down our first go round. it just seemed to go sickly sweet on me, sort of in the same way that Drink Me didn't agree with me at all. i couldn't smell it at all after a little while, didn't much live up to what i was expecting. hoping next go round i get some love from her.

the description from the lab hit all my pressure points, so i was expecting a lot more from this scent. unfortunately seraglio thumbed its nose at me, and faded almost to nothing in a very short time. i didn't get any of the clove out of it either, just some citrus and unidentifyable notes. i'm not really sure why, i may give it another go.
