    Wezwanie / Hold

Mmmm this is my favourite of all of the retail scents that I've had the chance to sniff. This is creamy nutty vanilla with a hint of smokiness. And thus far the amber hasn't done the baby powder transformation on me I hope it holds out! Beautiful!

The secret Old Spice lovers club!

I second the vote for Villain. My Dad is an Old Spice guy not sure if he uses the one with Lime but Villain totally smells like him. I love the way it smells too but I had to forbid my hubby from wearing it because it reminded me of my Dad so much. Cause ick - totally not right.

Recs for Role-Playing Games (RPG), LARP and Cosplay

Ooo a Ravnos - I've never played one before, I lean towards Malkavians! Blood Countess has been mentioned, I think that would be cool....or maybe Wanda or Succubus?

    The Queen's Salon

I got to try this thanks to the lovely Voleuse! The Queen's Salon reminds me of jasmine or orange blossoms with something sugary- maybe a honey? It's definitely a floral type scent but not one that screams it at you. It's not for me (florals seldom are) but I'm really glad I got to try it!

    Door 13

Thank you Voleuse! Door 13 is very ozoney on me - almost reminiscent of a man's cologne that I can't quite place. In the imp it's much more oceany, with a hint of citrus. Sadly it doesn't smell like that once it hits my skin (stupid skin). Still, I'm very glad I got to try it out

    Lemon, Lemon, Lemony Goodness

I ADORE Phobos. It's lemony but there's something else about it that is just sexy. I am nto one of those folks who gets Lemon Pledge obviously

    Phobos

I love my bottle of lemony Phobos. In my youth I had a thing for Skin Musk, and this reminds me of a grownup version of it. While I get the citrus scent, that fades quickly leaving just a hint of lemon on my skin and the white musk amps up. It's really lovely on. I get decent throw and it will last an entire day and even into the next morning - it's the longest lasting BPAL I have!

    Typical time...

If you're in Canada, you shouldn't (and likely didn't) use CC Now for your CC processing but rather did it through PayPal? PayPal charges you right away for your purchase (well it shows up 3 days or so later on your credit card). If you did use CC Now you should contact the lab because internationals aren't supposed to I don't think...

    Mr. Nancy

I popped Mr. Nancy on before I left this morning and I'm not sure how I feel about him. Everyone seems to be getting a lovely hint of citrus - it never popped out on me. Or the Bay Rum. Or the tobacco. Right now I'm smelling of honey or syrup, something thick and sweet. It's not a bad smell exactly, it's just not what I was hoping for (I was hoping for it to be my beloved Sugar Cookies kicked up a notch). I think I'll wait and see how it all develops before I swap away my imp.

    Snow White

I'm wearing Snow White 05 today I applied it this AM and I can still smell it (5 hours later). This scent completely goes against type for me. I generally don't like florals - I wouldn't have dreamed of trying this had I not been in a circle where I sniffed a sniffy! I get creamy snowy minty when I first apply and then it delicately fades off a bit to a hint of floral. It's definitely a white flower in the background - which makes sense since the description mentions night blooming. I think maybe I'm smelling nicotiana but I'm not quite sure. Any how - it doesn't matter, I just love it. It's now in my top 5 list!

    Honey Moon

Oh how I wanted to love this - I love honey. I love ginger. I love thyme. There was just that pesky gardenia and jasmine to worry about. In the bottle I get a hint of honey with some pretty heady floral smells. And on me....jasmine. Looooooots of jasmine. And I think it's giving me a headache besides.

    Mitzvah

A lovely BPAL frimped me generously - and one was Mitzvah (imagine my excitement!!) I think Mitzvah reminds me of Sugar Cookie 05 - buttery with a bit of caramel - it's making my mouth water it's so nummy. It will go fabulously with my Grampa Joe soap from Villainess. ( I love to pair scents with soaps )

    Sugar Cookie

Oooooooooooo this is good stuff. Villainess makes a bar called Grampa Joe. It's described as being toffee candies with a stiff shot of rum. I love this bar - it smells so good in the shower, but it doesn't leave it's scent on me. But now I have Sugar Cookie 05 which is a pretty darned scent match. I think I'm reminded most of buttered rum when I smell this in the imp, and it stays pretty close to the same on my skin. I don't think it has a lot of throw, which if fine because with BPAL I usually only care if I can smell the scent or maybe the hubby - I live in a province with the motto of "no scents is good sense". I'm now going to have to track down more Sugar Cookie 05 - Devil's Bake Sale indeed.

    Freak Show

Mmm this is really good. I'm getting pomegranate and cocoa, and maybe some apple. It's smooth and a bit smokey, really yummy. Plus it's got good throw...I'll have to hold on to this one and perhaps seek out some more!!

    Fruit Moon

Oooh this is quite nice. I have a love hate relationship with fruit smells. They can sometimes smell artificially like say Froot Loops. This isn't the case with Fruit Moon. I can detect what smells like apple, mango maybe - something else tropical, maybe even pineapple? This will be an amazing scent for the summer - I think I'll stash it away and save it for then !

    Milk Moon 2005

In the imp - a bit sour and a bit sweet if that makes sense? On me tho....oh on me this is what I wanted Cocknaigne to be like. I don't even know if I can explain what this smells like. It's creamy and it seems like there's a hint of buttermint? Whatever it is, looks like I have a new hard to find scent...unless of course May's Milk Moon smells just as good!!

    Beaver Moon 2005

Traditionally, Beaver Moon is named thus for a very obvious reason: during this time of year, beavers are hard at work building their dams and preparing for the onset of winter. Because it was too hard to resist, BPAL’s Beaver Moon is sillier, sleazier, and full of camp. This scent is of cheesecake and cupcakes, more in line with its cheekier connotations, and really hasn’t a damn thing to do with Luna at all! Hmm - how'd Beth get the cheesecake squished into the bottles? In the bottle it's perfectly cheesecakely goodness, and the New York kind, not the fake kind they have the mixes for. On my arm...it's kind of weirdly sour. I really wanted to like this one but unless there's some bloody amazing morphing about to happen, I'm thinking no. WHY are foodie scents so fickle on me - why?

    Horreur Sympathique

Hm. I'm getting grapey grape (not as grape as Purple Phoenix but grapey) - a hint of amber because it's starting to turn powdery as it develops. The description sounded fabulous- on me not so much. I think this is going to go in the swap pile!

    The Wheel of Fortune

When I sniffed this one in the imp, I wasn't sure I liked the smell and couldn't place where I knew it from... Then I read the reviews and realized it smells like pink peppermints or Pepto Bismal. Once I apply it, the pink mintiness screams at me, but after a few minutes it's subdued and then turns to a cheap bar of soap smell. I think this one is going into the swap pile.

    Cockaigne

I came into posession of this blend via a kind Forumite (waves at Lorencita). I have a love hate relationship with foodie blends. Usually they either love me and become wonderful things or hate me - turning to a stomach turning ickiness. Cockaigne can't decide what it wants to be In the beginning I think - ok - this is so so so not going to work. At all. But then as it mellows and gets a bit spicier and less milky I think I'll like it. I keep sniffing myself and am so torn. When I sniff this in the bottle I get cakes and spice, and sweetness. On it mellows to something like creamy gingerbread. It reminds me a lot of Monster Bed: Underpants, which the verdict is still out of too.

    Purple Phoenix

Oh my. This is PURPLE. That's the only way I could describe it to my hubby. Sadly - purple and I have had an off again, on again relationship. I went through a period where it was my absolute favourite colour -and then it went out of favour. A brief note on me - I have this funky form of synaesthesia where I can smell something and taste something else totally unrelated to it. (like I smell Pine Sol, I taste onions) Back in jr. high school there was this boy I liked. One day the boy noticed me during play practise and we snuck outside. He leaned over to kiss me and he had this wad of grape bubble gum in his mouth. I nearly gagged -it tasted/smelled like rotten dirt - it was so grapey. Sooooo as a result, not a huge fan of grapes. And that's mostly what I got with Purple Phoenix. Not enough that it was a grape Hubba Bubba moment, but it was pretty darned close. I'm sorry Purple Phoenix, I'll have to set you free...

    Bitter Moon

Nepal poppy, lotus root, wild rose, and blue hibiscus with blackberry, tonka, sage, lavender, peony and vetiver. I knew this one would be a gamble for me - there were notes I loved in it, but there were notes I dislike. In the end I have decided I like it fine, but I'm not sure if it's a keeper for me. I get the blackberry off the top, which is great, I love berries. Then I get knocked with some florals, and I find them to be too strong, a bit overwhelming. I suspect it's the wild rose...roses and I aren't good friends. Sadly, I didn't get any sage or tonka.

    Golden Priapus

I got this one for the hubby...amber and I do NOT get along. But I dabbed a bit on the elbow just to see what I thought. This totally makes me think of the Shub. Mind you, I've only sampled a small bit of Shub it's possible that I'm confused, but there's just something in common. I think I'll like this on the hubby, but not for me, which is ok, because that's the plan. It's great smelling in the bottle, and great smelling on him but on me I get spicy plastic. When he wears it, it's liquid sex, I swear. But on me. Meh. Oddly enough it has terrific throw and staying power on me. Heh. Staying power. Golden Priapus get it... Never mind

    Melisande, The Puppet Mistress

Hm. I don't usually go for strong floral notes but I figured I'd give this one a shot. On me it wasn't entirely unpleasant - just flowery. I'm awful at picking out individual flower notes, but I'm pretty sure I'm getting the violet water. I made the hubby sniff, and he thinks it's smells like old lady perfume - I'm not sure I disagree. The throw for this one is pretty decent on me, which seems to be the case when violets are involved. And I don't get much morphing, the violet water stays true through out. That said - please remember that a lot of floral perfumes turn totally to baby powder on me so your mileage may (and likely will) vary. I guess I'm not meant to be a floral type person.

    The Phantom Calliope

Well I knew my run with the CD had to hit a snag eventually. My arch nemesis cherry. even worse for me it was black cherry. I absolutely do not like the smell of cherry anything. If it's in there it is guaranteed that's it the only thing I will smell - even if it's combined with other notes I love. And this was the case. I opened Phantom Calliope and knew I wasn't going to be keeping it. I couldn't even manage to test it on my skin. That said - if someone loves cherry, they're going to adore this, because it reminds me of a cherry that's totally ripe - almost too ripe if that makes sense. And it's real cherry smell too - not this candied up cherry or pie filling cherry - it's true black cherry. I hope the recipient of it in my swap loves it more than I did
