On me Tiki Queen is straight up gardenia with wafts of tropical goodness thrown in. I LOVE how it instantly "felt" like the genre it represents. I was truly in love the moment I smelled it. That being said......after a good while I was getting that awful "something smells funny here.....fake-like .....or slightly rancid" smell that ALL BPAL is doing to me lately ( well all except Defututa. sigh. love. sigh). I'm going to hold onto it and see if aging kills that weird phase or if maybe my chemistry can right itself. I do highly recommend Tiki Queen to anyone wishing for a taste of the tropics or anyone who is a fan of "Kai" perfume oil because that gardenia is not to be missed!

Hi. If you've read this far....please add a comment. I'm dying for a BPAL with a similar fragrance to Lush's Tramp shower gel. It's patchouli and melissa and herbally to-die-for goodness. I need BPAL to finish me off once I'm out of the shower though. Up until now I was frightened of Patchouli....but now I need some. From the reviews of scents with patchouli listed I think Mr Jacquel might work nicely...but I'd love to hear from more experienced BPALers. Please? Thanks so much! Christine

Hi Kalli....thanks for replying. I was surprised to read the notes as well......especially since it does appear backwards. That's why it's so unique from what I've been reading. It's very untraditional in its composition. I can tell you that I can't pick out a single note with my nose while wearing it. It gives me a golden, glimmering feel. It's not a floral....not anything patchouli scented or incense-like. Maybe this is what amber smells like? I LOVE it. I also really like Chanel no 19 ( SO green.....I looked up those notes too....top= galbanum, bergamot, neroli, hyacinth. middle= rose orris jasmine narcissus muguet ylang ylang base= musk sandal oakmoss leather cedarwood. I'd love a bpal like that one too. Plus....Ysatis...another fave......I can't find it broken down into top/heart/base but know it contains mandarin oakmoss rose vanilla iris clove and amber. Any recommendations that you can give me would be GREATLY appreciated! I'm lost! Christine

I've ( for whatever reason ) been avoiding green and woody scents. I've been focusing on florals and spices. However....my FAVE conventional fragrance is Hermes' Eau De Merveille and I just looked up it's notes: Oak, Cedar, Vetiver top notes Ambergris middle Bitter orange, Elemi (huh?) Pink Pepper base. Go figure. So Bpal connoiseurs.....what Bpal scents will speak to me along these lines? Thanks for any imput you can offer! Christine
