    Rapture

wet: simply floral, but not overwhelmingly so dry, it's still a simple floral. lightly balance, so it's not in your face like silentium amoris is.
  2. really? where i live in the boonies (literally, my apt building was carved out of a corn field about 15 years ago, and my "neighborhood" is literally a 2x3 block square that's surrounded by a corn field on 3 sides and the highway on the 4th), it's the other way around. and it's such a pain because i have to drive 15 mi to go pick up stuff. worse than that? ups keeps fucked up hours (9-11, 3-6) that i have to make special trips.. the morning hours would make me late for class, the afternoon ones are so far after class and because of the wait (usually over an hour), i can't do something like shop between class and ups package pickup, so i have to make a special trip back to get them. fed ex? yeah, they just leave it in the hallway. sometimes by my door, sometimes not. packages haven't been lost yet, but... well, let's just say my apartment building has a problem with troublesome teenagers.
  3. at least at my old dorm, the front desk (who took care of filling the mail) would sign for packages - they don't really care who signs for it as long as it gets signed for. goes for fed ex, ups, and usps... they actually put bpal packages in my mailbox, and any package that doesn't fit into my mailbox gets pink slipped (so i have to visit the post office to pick 'em up), requiring sig's or not.. it's usps policy to pink slip rather than drop off now.

    Shipping Update..

well over 50 imp's ears fit into one of the boxes, so that would have to be one HELL of an order!

    Shipping Update..

i split the 2 pages of divergence i caused into its own topic. and brian, if beth didn't show you/tell you/whatever, you really should read it. it's quite humorous

    Shipping Update..

at least as far as the PO is concerned, you do have to do customs forms, so i would guess so

    Oneiroi

this is the first perfume i've worn where my first reaction shortly after putting it on and smelling my wrist was to go wake up andy and have hott phone sex (hey, it's not my fault it's midnight and he's 200 mi away!) anyways, i like the smell, but i had a really strange and unpleasant dream that was basically 1984 meets the patriot act meets us law and involved being prosecuted for violating the laws against peaceful protest (we had a permit, no less) and lots of other things.. it was probably the most detailed dream that i have woken up remembering besides the one that i had when i was about 20 months old (from what my mom said, because i also remember running into my parents' new bed after this, and that's how old i was when they got the bed in question) and i dreamt that i was an explorer in the amazon and a tribe had found me and invited me for dinner - with dinner being me - and i was alive when they put me in a pot of warmish water and could feel my muscles tightening up and my skin melting as the water got hotter and hotter and i was still alive when they deemed me ready to eat, so i was partially drug out of the pot and eaten slowly, feeling each bite oh so painfully, but being too sleepy and too pained to move. and for the record, my parents didn't even own a tv at this point in my life, and my mom was working from the house with my dad while going to school for her third [and now longest] career, so there's no possibility that i had watched something like this on tv... and the only books i had read to me were of the dr suess variety and fairy tales...

    Swallow's Heart

initial impression: familiar. a little sharp. kind of reminds me of a perfume my mom used to wear a long time ago. edit -- moved this because it's on the voodoo blends list. -violet moved back because there's dove's heart and swallow's blood but no swallow's heart on the voodoo list ~qs

    Dragon's Eye

i think i might slip this to my mom to try - i love it just as it is, and i think once i get something so i can heat oils alone, i'll be buying a BIG bottle of this for that alone. jj nailed it when she called it absolute spring. //edited to add: and it seems to stay fairly true to the bottled scent when on me, which is just an extra bonus. this is definitely on my big bottle list! i'm very happy i spontaneously put this down instead of something else.

    Hecate

i think this hits it head on. yummy. ADDED March 24: stays pretty true on, though it faded pretty quickly; i put it on at 10 and by 2 (the end of a class i have w/ a friend), it was gone - extra sad coz i wore it coz she wanted to see what it smelled like!

    Delirium

initial thoughts: mmmm i like this. the rose lingers after the bottle is shut the way rose red does, and the lemon and apple peek out once in awhile too.

    Eidolon

initial reaction: very lemony and happy can't wait to try it

    Feu Follet

first impression: light, floral, sparkley (like how the sidewalk sparkles just a little in the hot summer sun, not like a whole bunch of sequins) wet: still sparkley. dry: i can't smell it anymore, and it's only been an hour and a half.. so i'll have to give this one another whirl

    Justice

initial impressions: this is one of the few perfumes that i smell and it makes me smile and i can't tell you why i'm smiling i agree with what jj said about warm and woody and a little herbal, at least in the bottle.

    Harlot

initial impressions: *i am cinnamon hear me roar* with just a whisper of rose in the background later: the rose definitely blooms. there's a nice balance between the rose and the cinnamon. this is a rose that knows what it wants, and it wants sex. now. NOW. NOOOOOWWWWWW. not 5 minutes from now. not only a keeper, but it's going on my newly started 5ml list.

    Akuma

intital impressions: sweet, fruity, jam, breakfast, late spring/early summer, well balanced yummy but maybe too much sweet to wear. we'll find out later! EDIT: Merged into existing Akuma thread. --Shollin

    Oberon

i haven't tried it on yet (but intend to after i'm done sniffing all my other imps), but oberon was strongly citrusy to me in the vial

    Job Interview Recommendations

i don't know about her, but i'm semi-looking for jobs (in the 'gee it'd be nice to have employment and grad school rather than just grad school' sense) and i'd be looking for my first fulltime job in my field, aside from a handful of summer internships

    Lemon, Lemon, Lemony Goodness

right now i have it forwarding to the right page coz beth links to the wrong page, and i use the submit click to do that. it might depend what browser you use whether or not hitting enter counts as a submit click - it does for mozilla/firefox/etc, which is what i use when i go home tomorrow, i can change that so it's not browser-dependent when i add the 'sort by category' thing and the link to the reviews here thing

    More great news.

ease of use, perhaps? not requiring a paypal an account? honestly, it wouldn't be horribly hard to go and regenerate the site to be entirely database-driven now that the database has been started (the only thing that would be new would be product/category maintenance stuff), and then to slap on a store module that uses paypal...
  23. ipb

    More great news.

even if they get their own accounts, there's still fees. i "got" to input sales for one of my parents' clients this morning (since i made the mistake of arriving early for lunch), and the lube place was paying 5-10% in fees to MC/V plus some transaction fee. (discover, btw, doesn't do that.) but like this place charges a (30c fee + 2.59%) / transaction fee and $10/month statement fee and and a $25/month minimum fee from the 2.59% fee. paypal's actually cheaper than that at 30c+2.2-2.9% without monthly fees or minimum fees.
