minty minty mint! the cuke doesn't really scream out (an aura of general_fruit in the back, if you will), nor does the white pepper. it's just the ultimate mint. sadly, i'm usually not in the mood to smell minty, and this doesn't last as long as other minty scents (like shattered). it's very lovely, though. i'm going to keep it for my car, i think, because mint's such an eye-opening scent that it'll be good to commute in a minty car. and, of course, on those hot sweltering days that i need to cool down, i'll probably grab some tulzscha to wear.

i think i have to start off saying that i adore spicy scents (ha! as if you didn't pick that up from my love of pumpkin king or uranus or hamadryad or ...), so the fact that the cardamom and black pepper speak loudly is A Good Thing. in the bottle, it's all fresh and spicy - basically, how it dries on me. wet on my skin, the spices overwhelm the other notes - it's all cardamom and black pepper, with a hint of juniper. not a bad thing, because it reminds me of one of my grandmother's roasted venison recipes, and it's tasty and smells great while cooking. dry, the bamboo and moss come out to balance the spices. the juniper and cedar hang back, so it's just really fresh, spicy, and slightly earthy and breezy. i think it'd make a great office scent, and i'll be sad when my bottle is no more.

on me, once it dried, azathoth was all vetiver and cedarwood, with the occasional hint black amber. very dark and masculine. i'm not really a fan of cedarwood to begin with, and vetiver and i have an uneasy truce, so this was not a scent for me. it did, however, last for about 12-15 hours. good if you like it, not so good if you don't.

when you email customer service, let them know what item(s) are you having issues adding, what browser you have, and what not -- it'll help them when they talk to ccnow. uhm, or if you've got a paypal account, you could just use paypal.

there's not much i can say that hasn't been said ... lightly floral, lightly musky, clean, beautiful... i adore this scent. it's a great office scent, because it doesn't throw horribly far and it's sexy without being in your face about it.

very pink, very tropical fruit salad (which is NOT a bad thing as i adore tropical fruit salad!). the peony, pink pepper, and white ginger lend a slight spiciness to it that is, in a word, divine. jasmine didn't take over (which surprised me), and the white tea and the musks come out a bit towards the end of the journey. i'd have to say that as much as pele reminds me of the hawaiian tropics, mi-go reminds me MORE of the caribbean tropics. laid back, eating fresh juicy fruit, and sitting in the sun with a virgin pina colada

i haven't tried it in ritual yet as i'm out of candles, so i can't say how that goes, but it smells like bubblegum when i opened the bottle and is a very happy, hopeful scent.

As we previously stated here, we don't allow swapping in signatures. We have a small handful of individuals who have been banned from the swaps forum for swaplifting, and the only way we can keep them from swapping on the forum is to limit swapping to being within the swaps forum only. Acceptable "swap" things in signatures: Links to topics in the swap forums (including the "wanted" thread). Examples: ::wanted::, ~swaps~, .make my day, buy something. Links to circular swaps. Links to third-party places such as ebay. Examples: ~my ebay auctions~, celestials@ebay, jupiter for sale Non-acceptable "swap" things in signatures: Offering to buy specific things. Examples: !!$50 for a bottle of Shattered!!, Sell me your Spooky!, Wanted to buy: Samhain, Mabon, Beltane!, anyone got some harlot they don't want? Offering to sell/swap specific things. Examples: SNs 4 sale!, Buy my Sin! In short: general forum links and (general OR specific) third-party links are ok. Specific swappy things are not ok EXCEPT for third party links (like "jupiter for sale" with a link to an eBay auction). When in doubt, ask. When the new guidelines come out (which should happen within the next month or so), swapping outside of the swaps forum - including signatures - is a potentially warnable offense, so please get rid of them. Anyone who is reported as having a signature with this in shall be asked to remove it. Failure to comply will result in us removing it for you.

As some of you may know, we're on a shared, maintained-for-us server. During a routine upgrade, it was found (after the fact) that there was a flaw in the version of the kernel used in the update. This problem causes the servers to lock up and requires that they are physically rebooted to be fixed. The probability is high that our downtime was due to our server locking up (I don't know if they told us one way or the other what was causing the problem). They will be fixing this problem tomorrow (the 30th). It shouldn't require any downtime, but it's possible that: a) the server could lock up between now and then, and b ) the fix may cause the forum to go offline a few times as they reboot a time or two.

Since this was also covered in hte Abbreviations and Lingo FAQ, I'm closing this and moving it to the BPAL FAQ.

with the help of the very patient josey, we managed to get something working for that. i still don't know what the problem was, but it's fixed!

with the exception of reviews (where new subforums will come up as necessary), we will not be adding any new subforums for awhile. after all, technically speaking, *everything* fits in randomness
-
just so you know, we're not planning on adding anymore subforums at this time.

let me preface my review with the reason behind its purchase: i'd been considering it for awhile, because i was a grad student and in an LDR (still in a LDR, for now). stress? ha! when am i not stressed? anyways, so i had been considering it as a purchase. then, towards the end of the semester, i had this wonderful dream where i had a massage with a massage oil scented with white light -- where the massage lasted until all the stress had been worked out of my body and i was utterly boneless and completely covered in the massage oil (which quickly sank in my skin, leaving me smooth and scented). (and then, because i'm sex deprived, i then had slow hot sex with the guy, but i digress...) anyways, after smelling the massage oil in my dream and having a dream featuring it, i *had* to get it. no choice, really. can the message get any clearer? i think not! in the bottle, this was a spicy creamy scent, but not "in your face" spicy like, oh, uranus or three witches. soothingly spicy, which sounds like it's an oxymoron but trust me, it's not. EXACTLY how the massage oil in my dream smelled. on my skin, when it dries, it smells like the part of his shoulder my head ends up when we're spooning and about to go to sleep. light, airy. quieting in a non-sleepy way, kinda like that driving zone is good for quieting your head. and i'm definitely not as irritated about this thing or that as i normally would be... finding those things amusing instead. there aren't many scents that i wear and go immediately to *adore* but this is definitely one of them. eta: oddly, that night, i woke up around 3am with some wierd reflux thing and could taste the bile. but i've felt great since, despite being otr!

Tomorrow, there is going to be some downtime. We are going to upgrade to the newest release of the IPB code, re-mod it, and possibly add a new mod or two depending on how it all goes. So if you've got good techy vibes, aim 'em towards Oklahoma tomorrow! --- Obviously, the boards are back up. Yay!

We've decided to better enable you, we needed to rearrange that whole area. + Retail Therapy -- general shopping discourse | |--- Fashion & Makeup -- just fashion & make up fo' real now | |--- The Bathing Beauty -- bathing-related stuff I've moved a few threads around, but I'm on dialup tonight and a phone card, and need to hit the sack, so don't get upset if this thread was moved but that one wasn't. Feel free to report threads to be moved, but if you want to be nice, wait a few days first.

With the influx of meet-up gatherings happening, we decided it was time to give them their own subforum within BPAL Chatter. Like "get personal," this subforum is hidden to the general public (to avoid caching by the search bots) BUT we would like to emphasize that we don't have any controls about who can join the forums, so take whatever cautions you would if they were posted in a more public forum. For those that were wondering, this makes forum/subforum #65.

i think eos and dragon's eye are two of the springiest scents i have, along with a prototype that smells clean and melony and green. and my prototype of dublin, which is clean and piney and white rosey.

Primarily for the Entertainment section (due to the quantity of potential spoilers in book/movie discussions), there's now a spoiler tag (namely sp). [sp]Text to hide[/sp] is how you do it, and it looks like this when used: Spoiler Text to hide To read the text, just highlight it. Now, enjoy and don't feel guilty about talking about xxx aspect of Star Wars 3 Thursday 'cause it won't be ruined for those that haven't seen it unless they ~want~ to read the spoilers

The FAQ about member treatment applies to the moderators as well as everyone else. If you feel a moderator is harassing you, bring it up to another moderator, shriekingviolet, or myself. When you bring it up, include specific examples (eg, forward the PMs AND the message url from the PM box page - eg, http://www.bpal.org/index.php?act=Msg&CODE...in&MSID=124424). Harassment is a serious charge, and corroboration from the database is necessary before any action will be taken, so don't delete PMs that you report to us until we've let you known we've seen it. The action taken will depend on the situation and any history between the individuals. Spreading vague rumors that someone is being harassed by the mod is NOT appreciated. If you hear that someone is being harassed - by a mod or otherwise - COME TO SOMEONE ON THE MODSQUAD [other than the lab personnel]. Even if you hate us all, we can't do anything if we are unaware that something (intended as harassment or otherwise) is happening.

i would say that "all orders ... are currently taking an excess of 21 - 45 business days to process" does cover that. part of the reason for the extra time is that the lab has to go to the post office to take care of the customs forms and get them stamped and what not, whereas with domestic orders, the carrier can pick them up.

i'm really big on camping. not the kind of camping that involves RVs and toilets and electricity, but the kind that involves a tent in the middle of a forest and campfires - by necessity - and peeing in the bushes or in a toilet/shower building far, far from the site. must be all those days of primitive camping in girl scouts! anyways. this reminds me of camping, with the campfire blazing under the stars, smoke getting in your eyes as stories are told, marshmallows are roasting, the slighty sweaty skin, and the smell of nature is all around. (er, without the marshmallows...that was more for the whole memory thing) it stays pretty much the same in the bottle as on me, at least initially. a HUGE hit
