White and "Light" Musk Recommendations
charmingdetails replied to joseybird's topic in Recommendations
I agree with you, light musks are gorgeous! It depends on what other notes you like with musk, but I've been especially pleased with Lady of Shalott, Black Pearl, and Black Moon. -
All Souls' Day is one of the most significant days in the Church calendar to me, so I was really hoping to love this blend. And I do! It is truly lovely. I was wary of the strong buttery-cakey scent of All Souls upon initial application, but within seconds, that intensity fades to give way to sweet, mellow incense and currants with just a hint of cake. This blend is mild, soothing, and comforting. As I wear it, I find that the incense notes seem to waft around me, while the cakey notes stay closer to the skin. The incense grows more prominent after about an hour and a half, and even stronger after yet another hour. It's creamy, smoky, and sweet, with a fair amount of throw. Wonderful.

This is crisp, clean, and cool with a hint of citrus. It's a nicely subtle scent, very refreshing. To me, this fragrance is quite unisex, and it actually reminds me of my husband's Issey Miyake. It's not quite my style, but I think it's perfect for those who gravitate towards aquatics and ozone notes!

Sugar Skull 2006 Vibrant with the joy and sweetness of life in death! A blend of five sugars, lightly dusted with candied fruits. LOVE! This scent is almost frighteningly heavy in the bottle, but upon application, it melts into a deep, dark sweetness that's strong but not overpowering. It's intoxicating- utterly rich, warm, and delicious. There's maple sugar and brown sugar... mmmm, caramelized.... with just a hint of the fruit mentioned in the Lab's description. The throw is strong and the staying power is excellent. This is the perfect sugar scent for Fall, so warm and cozy for a chilly day!

Samhain 2006 Mmmmmm, autumn. This is such a cozy scent. It's quite complex- at once woodsy and foody. For me, it's a bit too woodsy at first, but after a few minutes, the sweetness and spice comes out, and it smells like some kind of wonderful pie. Meanwhile, the woodsy notes are still faintly present, and I'm catching a whiff of some smokiness. All in all, this dries down to a very warm, gentle, essentially autumnal scent. It makes me want to stay inside, light a fire, and curl up with a good book!

So so so so pretty! This is a delicate, soft, very feminine fragrance, with florals that radiate pure innocence, and a light green note. It's a scent to wear on days when one wants to feel especially pretty. Sadly, I find that it fades in about an hour. Sigh. I adore it and wish it lasted longer on me.

This scent is very complex- a lush, romantic blend of fruits, floral, and... something? Something mysterious and exotic that keeps this scent from being syrupy sweet- perhaps it's the fir note. On the whole, this scent is warm and bountiful... perfect for late summer. It's quite fruity on first application, and then the florals come out within ten minutes. Its staying power is decent; it's still detectable on me almost four hours later, though just barely. Lovely!

Mmmmm, I love this scent. It's a soft, creamy, deeply sweet vanilla. I wear it when I want to smell pretty and uncomplicated. It reminds me pleasantly of something, yet I don't even know what- so "nostalgia encapsulated" is an appropriate description. This scent seems to get richer with age, and has good throw and staying power. ETA: This scent does get richer with age, and a thousand times more beautiful. It's a pretty scent when fresh, but it's just unbelievably gorgeous when aged. Antique Lace has become my favorite anywhere, anytime, goes-with-everything, all-around-beautiful scent. I love it, love it, love it.

This is a light, sharp citrus at first, and then it fades into a more gentle ginger note. Clean, fresh, and quite gender-neutral, this would be a refreshing scent to wear on a hot day. On me, it doesn't have much throw and fades all too quickly.

A rich, complex blend of soft citrus, sweetness, and sandalwood, this is a very elegant, womanly scent that definitely evokes a bygone era. I don't typically enjoy citrus scents, but I find the mandarin here to be so soft, not sharp at all- I love it. After a while, the sandalwood fades, leaving only that wonderful mandarin coupled with a heady sweetness which I assume is the opium and vanilla. The floral in this is very subtle on me. The scent seems to get headier after the first hour or so, and the staying power is decent- it still has a gentle presence over four hours after application. Overall, this is a delicious scent. I may need a bottle!

Ohhhhhh, this scent is beautiful. Quite spicy at first, it soon mellows to a delicious, dreamy sweetness with just a hint of spice, and then it lingers for hours and hours. This scent conjures up the color red for me... it's warm and inviting. I adore it.

Such a beautiful scent- clear and watery with a hint of sweetness and spice. Very elegant and feminine. Gardenia is the strongest note here, and oh, how I love it. It's accompanied by ginger, giving this blend an almost tropical feel... reminds me of an evening in Hawaii or Tahiti. The aquatic and ginger notes keep the floral slightly crisp and not too sweet. The gardenia note seems to last a couple of hours, but the blend lingers as a gentle, watery scent for several hours more.

This scent is incredibly comforting... like being tucked into bed for sweet dreams. It's a gentle blend; softly sweet, fruity, and creamy. It has a definite presence, but isn't overwhelming. I get smell of the almond and cherries others have mentioned, and although I don't usually like cherry, I LOVE this. On me, the dragon's blood fades a bit after about 45 minutes, leaving a lightly fruity vanilla to linger. It's wonderful.

Ahh, this blend is so relaxing. It's a light citrusy aquatic at first, then the florals come out, making this a beautifully calm and clear scent. Very refined and clean. Good staying power; lasts for several hours. I've never cared for aquatics before, but this is so gentle and pretty- I love it.

When you need something comforting or cheering

I find Dirty's fresh laundry scent incredibly comforting. Black Pearl also feels comfy and cozy to me. -
Clean and fresh, definitely linen-ish and softly sweet. A nice scent to wear when you want to smell good but not attention-getting- perfect for the workplace, for example. The scent softens a bit within the hour but doesn't fade until several hours later, on me. I've never worn a linen scent before, and was surprised by how much I like this one!

Dark, sweet, and intoxicating. A rich nutty scent with light florals that mellows to an even richer dark sweetness, losing the floral entirely as it fades. I usually like lighter sweetness, but this one feels... cozy. A cuddle scent, or a scent to relax with. It doesn't evoke anything about the sea, for me, but I like it very much.

This was the blend I was most looking forward to from my very first BPAL order, and it is indeed what I was hoping for-- soft, deep, rich violet. It's a very cool, quiet floral... contemplative, as the official description says. After putting it on for the first time, I wanted to just sit and breathe it in for a while- not do anything else, just live in this scent. It lasts for about four hours on me, and fades to a pretty, cool scent that makes me feel at peace. It's lovely.

This scent is amazing. On me, it's a beautiful combination of pure rose and incense, and it lingered for quite a long time. After about four hours, the scent was barely there, but I kept catching whiffs of it for another four hours. It strongly evokes associations with Catholicism for me, which is just what I was hoping for. And on an unexpected note, although this isn't necessarily supposed to be one of the sexier scents, my husband had a very positive reaction to it. Hee. I am DEFINITELY buying a bottle of this.

I think you'll be okay, Athena's Owl. I'm pretty new here, and your question made me curious, so I combed through this thread to see if I could find an answer. This post confirms that the lab does accept e-checks for Lunacies and time-sensitive LEs. It's stated that the order won't be processed until the e-check clears, but as I understand it, that slight delay would only affect the order's placement in the queue, not the order's validity. The order itself still counts as having been placed before the deadline. Er, right? Someone correct me if I'm wrong, please!
