  1. White chocolate and marshmallow pumpkin floss!

Yum! This is the lightly-spiced pumpkin floss note mixed with a light marshmallow note. As it dries, the marshmallow gets stronger and the pumpkin tones down a bit. The white chocolate comes out in the drydown. This reminds me of a past Weenie favourite, Marshmallow Pumpkin, but more subdued and with a touch more spice. :yum:

The throw is somewhat light and the staying power is moderate, but it's been my experience that pumpkin scents age beautifully.

  2. Still, there was a tale he had read once, long ago, as a small boy: the story of a traveler who had slipped down a cliff, with man-eating tigers above him and a lethal fall below him, who managed to stop his fall halfway down the side of the cliff, holding on for dear life. There was a clump of strawberries beside him, and certain death above him and below. What should he do? went the question.

And the reply was, Eat the strawberries.

    Strawberries, fresh-picked.

Has anyone else (besides me) longed for a strawberry single note? Well, this is it!!! Eat the Strawberries is juicy ripe strawberries, neither too tart nor sweet, with a little strawberry leaf. It reminds me a lot of Strawberry Moon, minus the dandelion and other notes. Yum!!!

  3. I’ve run away from a little old woman,

    A little old man,

A barn full of threshers,

A field full of mowers,

A cow and a pig,

And I can run away from you, I can!

    Oh dear! I’m quarter gone!

    Oh, I’m half gone!

    I’m three-quarters gone!

    I’m all gone!

Both in the bottle and initially on my skin, this is spicy gingerbread with fruit...I think maybe pomegranate, but I'm not 100% sure. The sweet jam comes in next (raspberry maybe?) to make this an even-fruitier gingerbread. The drydown is just spicy gingerbread (similar to Gingerbread Poppet, but less clove) with a hint of sweetness from the jam. Yum!

  4. Pumpkin candyfloss with strawberry cream and red currant.

This starts off with the same pumpkin floss note used in the other blends...sugary pumpkin & spice. The red currant comes up next, it's both juicy and tart. The strawberry cream comes up towards the end, it's initially a lovely strawberry note before it settles down into a strawberry and cream scent in the drydown. Yum!

  5. The opening stage of this, as stated above, it black cherry cream - it's both sweet and tart on me at the same time. The cherry fades out on me and I get a dry, lightly-sugared blackberry note. After a while, it's just simple & yummy cream.

I love cherry scents and this is probably my favourite one so far.

  6. Crystallized glittering shards of lightly spiced pumpkin sugar.

In the wet stage, this is a very sugary, lightly spiced (not buttery) pumpkin note. To me, it smells almost exactly like the Pumpkin Candyfloss note used in all the different scents of that name. As it dries, it smelled like lightly spiced white sugar with a hint of pumpkin. Yum!

  7. Blushing rosehips, pink rose petals, and vanilla cream with white jasmine and a drop of bergamot.

This unicorn starts off as a naturally sweet & juicy rose with just a hint of bergamot. Eventually the jasmine shows up in the background. The white jasmine is different from the typical jasmine notes, it is smoother, less perfumey, and quite lovely. The drydown is a sugary rosey-vanilla.

  8. Sugared peony and rose-tinted vanilla with mallow, white musk, lavender buds, and a touch of apricot.

This unicorn starts off with a delicious mix of lavender (sweet & powdery, not herbal), vanilla, and mallow. It's a fluffy purple cloud of a scent that reminds me of a sweeter version of TKO. After a while, the scent smoothly morphs to a sugary, musky pink floral. I never picked up on apricot, but perhaps that will come with settling/age.

  9. White roses, white amber, and snowflakes.

My bottle just arrived today, and as it settles and warms up it may change, so I might need to edit this review later. But for now...this is glorious!!!

This starts off with sweet rose and the vanilla-snow of Snow White (my all-time favourite!). It's similar to Pink Snowballs (another fave), except that the rose note is very much a white rose, and its not as sweet. As it dries, the white amber comes out, making it very similar to Love Lay Upon Her Eyes (yet another fave!), but with the vanilla-snow background, and the slightly different rose note (white vs. red). :wub3:

I adore this and if it doesn't change with settling, I suspect I'll need a few more bottles in the future.

  10. This is the first bottle I've ordered unsniffed in a long time. And I'm glad I did, because I adore it and have gotten multiple compliments too!

I was worried about the mention of pine or evergreen notes, as both trigger migraines for me. But I don't detect any in the perfume. It starts off with a refreshing blend of eucalyptus & a hint of mint. The sandalwood and vanilla come into play next, both are very soft and well-blended. Not foody or woodsy at all!!!

The throw is moderate-to-light and the staying power is a few hours minimum.

  11. I spritzed this on my pillow last night and fell asleep with visions of sugarplums dancing in my head (and slept great too!) This is the sugar plum note from my beloved Sugar Plum Fairy, mixed with the loveliest vanilla note. It's a sweet, cuddly, long-lasting, and very much a ridiculously adorable scent.

Please make this in bath oil and perfume next year!!!

  12. There is pumpkin in this -more pumpkin flesh than buttery - with lots of spice. The cinnamon seems dominant and is rounded out by nutmeg & ginger. It's a nice scent, and I love the name since I go crazy for pumpkin spice everything in the fall. But I think I enjoy my BPAL pumpkin spice more when its blended with other notes, like all the numbered Pumpkin Patch blends.

  13. This one might be a bit hard to find, as it was a limited edition from 2007. The first time I smelled it, I was reminded of Black No 1 because it smells like burning leaves.

The Death of Autumn: Dark amber, dead leaves, khus, saffron, bitter clove, chrysanthemum, camellia, galangal, and a drop of oud.

  14. I have a odd request for a scent...

I want something that smells like Strawberry Milk tastes. Like good old strawberry syrup (or Nestle powder) in milk stir it up and smell! Or something like a strawberry milkshake maybe would work...sweet strawberry (no green) and vanilla. :yum:

    Hope you guys can help...

I can't think of anything that is just strawberry plus milk/cream, but here's some past LE's that may be helpful:

BEAVER MOON 2007: For your pleasure and amusement, we present this year's incarnation of Beaver Moon: wild cherry with vanilla cream accord, and a hint of strawberry.

This has a very creamy, almost cheesecake-type base, with more cherry than strawberry.

BEAVER MOON 2010: Here we go with the double entendres again! Strawberry and peach cheesecake, heavy on the sticky glaze.

This is less creamy than the 2007 version with lots of sweet strawberry/peach sugar.

L'ESSENCE DE L'ENGOUEMENT: French vanilla, pink candies, strawberry sugar, and orange blossom.

This is a sweet vanilla/strawberry scent with just a little orange blossom.

WHITE CHOCOLATE AND STRAWBERRY (Box of Chocolates 2009)

If white chocolate works on you, this is a very yummy and simple scent.

WHITE CHOCOLATE, STRAWBERRY, AND WHITE PEPPER TRUFFLE (Box of Chocolates 2010)

This was similar to the previous year's chocolate, but with a sweeter strawberry and lots of white pepper.

  15. One of my favourite licorice scents is available as part of the Lab's Gris Grimly collection:

Hideous Heart: A macabre Valentine: wild black cherries, licorice root, and cinnamon.

My other favourites are past LE's from the Trading Post, but you may be able to find them in the sales section:

LICORICE BATS: Black licorice with cacao nibs and anise.

Black Pumpkin Floss: Pumpkin candyfloss spiked with black licorice, black currant, and smoked maple.

ETA: Here's one more from the General Catalog:

Kyoto: A gentle, soothing blend of cherry blossom, white sandalwood and star anise.

  16. Need some help on yummy mint scents...I oddly really want a mint scent right now. But something minty sweet, vanilla like, and long lasting. I can't decide between Lick It Now 2013 or Mother Shub’s Unmentionable Peppermint Creams?? I read the reviews and I'm still not sure.

I love the buttery cream mint of MSUPC but I hear Lick It Now has better staying power...please help me!!! And a random note...I LOVE Braving The Ice. ;)

I wore both of those scents today. The mint faded out fast on both. Lick It Now lasted, in total, about an hour on my wrist. Peppermint Creams lasted about six hours.

  17. This 2013 version has lots and lots of sugar, quite a bit of peppermint, and just the tiniest amount of vanilla in the drydown. I think there's more than just white sugar in this mix, I thought I detected some spun sugar-cotton candy briefly in the wet stage.

This is quite yummy, although not a favourite of the Lick It series, nor my favourite peppermint scent of this year's Yules (that would be Unmentionable Peppermint Creams). But I will happily hang onto my decant. :yum:

  18. This has lots of sweet, zingy peppermint, like the Lick It series, over a lovely vanilla-cream note with the tiniest hint of marzipan. The throw is light but the wear-length seems pretty go so far. I adore peppermint scents, so I'm very happy with this and considering a bottle in my future. :wub2:

  19. This starts off lots of poppies and primrose, then a hint of lily, then finally a soft white rose (like the one in Phasmophobia) with the faintest hint of snow in the drydown. The snow is a bit powdery, and not at all minty or evergreen-ish or eucalyptus/menthol.

This is quite a lovely scent, I'm very happy with my decant. :wub2:

  20. Hey all-

Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I was wondering if anyone could give me a concise side-by-side comparison of all (or even most) of the Lick It scents? I bought Lick It Now this year, it's the first one I've tried and I really like it. I've tried reading through the review threads for the various versions, but it's hard to tell what the differences really are. Are some more vanilla-y than others? Sharper peppermint? More foody? I would love to know, so if anyone has several different versions and is willing to explain your take on their differences, I'd appreciate it!

I have tried every single Lick It EXCEPT this year's (my decants haven't arrived yet). But I don't have all of them available for skin test. So I'll do my best to remember each one:

Lick It 2005: What else could possibly be more lickable at Yuletide? This is a candy cane perfume, minty, sweet and sugared.

This one is a pretty even blend of peppermint, vanilla, and sugar.

Lick It Again 2006: Every holiday season should be full of lewd suggestions and filthy double entendres, right? This is a new take on last year's Lick It -- a peppermint candy cane with an extra jolt of sugar.

From what I recall, this had a lot of sugar, quite a bit of vanilla, and not too much peppermint.

Lick It One More Time 2007: Every holiday season should be full of lewd suggestions and filthy double entendres, right? This is a new take on Lick It and Lick It Again -- a peppermint candy cane with a flash of vanilla and an extra jolt of sugar.

I remember this one had a LOT of vanilla, quite a bit of sugar, and just a little peppermint.

Lick It Like You Mean It 2008: Every holiday season should be full of lewd suggestions and filthy double entendres, right? Lick it in earnest! Lick it with vigor! Peppermint candy cane with an extra jolt of sugar.

This is one of my two favourite versions of the whole series. It's very similar to the original Lick It, but has a light skin musk in addition to the sweet notes.

Lick It Till It's Sticky 2009: The stickiest thing you shouldn't lick this winter. Peppermint candy cane with an extra jolt of sugar.

This is the only one in the series I did not like. It had the traditional notes, plus some kind of weird menthol top note.

LICK IT VIGOROUSLY 2010: What else could possibly be more lickable at Yuletide? This is a candy cane perfume, minty, sweet and sugared.

This one reminded me of the original Lick It, but with an extra note of peppermint.

LICK IT DISCREETLY 2011: This year’s minty double ententre! A sticky, chilly peppermint candy cane with sweet vanilla and an extra jolt of sugar.

This version was the most sugary and sweetest of the group.

LICK IT SOFTLY 2012: This year's minty double ententre! A sticky, sweet peppermint candy cane with a copious dusting of vanilla.

This is my other favourite version. The sugar and peppermint are on the light side, the vanilla is really dominant in this version, much more so than the 2007 version. It also has a bit more wear-length than any of the previous versions.

  21. I used this in the bath this morning and believe me, I didn't want to leave my tub. This is SO delicious. :yum:

The scent is very similar to last year's Pumpkin V (2012) perfume, pumpkin with lots of vanilla and a hint of spice. Pumpkin Ice Cream is a bit sweeter and less spicy than last year's Pumpkin Pie bath oil, and a bit more vanilla-ish than the Marshmallow Pumpkin bath oil of several years ago. Like all the Lab's bath oils, it's moisturizing without being greasy, and it scented my tub (and bathroom, and me!) beautifully.

    :wub2:

  22. This starts off with the two mints, one very sweet like the Lick It scents and the other more herbal, like garden mint. Underneath all the mint I can pick out green tea and a bit of neroli. This dries down to a dark fruity blend, somewhat similar to Alice's Evidence, with a hint of mint. The throw seems to be moderate-to-light.

I am a huge fan of minty scents, and I like fruit too, so I am very much enjoying this scent so far.

  23. This is quite nice and yummy, but not as exciting as I had hoped for. I get a little pumpkin at first spray, but otherwise it's mostly spiced graham crackers and brown sugar. No chocolate or marshmallow that I can detect, and the smoke note is quite light and well-balanced. The throw and staying power seems to be on the moderate side.
