This one is very yummy on the man. It smells like he's wearing cologne, though (not like De Sade which makes him smell like he simply happens to be the sexiest smelling man in the world). I really liked how Beth managed to make the wood be "I'm out in the forest wood" as distinct from "Old house with cedar closets wood" or "stack of lumber wood". It's very evocative of, not earth exactly (there are no earth or moss or leaf notes that I can catch), but damp loam and the outdoors. I live in the PNW, we know from forests here, and although the forests I've been in didn't smell of these specific species of wood, they still have a peculiarly forest scent that Loup Garou has.

I have a few scents of this incense brand called Namaste that are dear to my heart. One is "Cedar Wood" and the other is "Amber" but I tend to doubt that those are the only notes present. They're both kind of deep and warm, but with slightly sweet hints. Anyone familiar with the smell of these guys? they come in a green and orange box about the size of a pack of cards? The other brand I really enjoy is made by the same company, I believe, and called India Temple. It's much sweeter but still not gregariously fruity or easily identifiable as floral. The warm resinous smell of it kind of rounds it out and grounds it a lot. I note that the Lab offers a lot of blends with "incense" notes and some are on their way to me as I type (woohoo!). I'm mostly wondering if anyone here has smelled the incenses I refer to and found good BPAL matches.

Oh, I was so disappointed in O. I wanted the sexy musky honey goodness. I got baby powder. Oh well, there's always De Sade to fall back on, if I need teh sexy.

Dear God. De Sade is hands down the sexiest scent I have ever smelled on a man. I was put off smearing it on *my* man for quite a long while because of the scent it has in the imp -- harsh leather leather leather that almost made me choke. On his skin, though, magical things happen and it becomes the scent of the most delicious, masculine, attractive, charismatic guy in the whole freakin' world. And the chemistry is flowing and you're making frequent eye contact and every time you tough there's this little zap and both of you know perfectly well you're going to end up tumbling into bed together before too long. And oh yeah, he happens to be wearing a leather jacket, you know, the one he wears all the time, like a second skin, the one that rides on him so easily you can't picture him without it. It melds so well with my man's body chemistry that it seems to be actually coming out of his pores, part of him rather than an applied scent. Not "Wow, that cologne smells great" (which is the case for Loup Garou, and don't get me wrong, I like Loup Garou but it's definitely not in the same league as De Sade) but "Oh my God, you're the best-smelling person I ever met". Pure. Sex. I've tried it on myself as well. Now, when I wear it, it gives me the same amazing change from choking overly strong leather to mellow, slightly smoky, just barely sweetened leather scent. But it smells like a cologne, like men's cologne that I've put on. Which is not to say that it's not worth wearing: because I associate it with my man, it gets me all warm and ready to jump him in no time at all.

That's funny because I "saw" Persephone as pink, pink, pink. I really wanted to like her. Really really. In the imp she had a seriously wet, juicy fruity smell with almost no detectable rose. On my skin ... cotton candy. Gourmet fruity cotton candy, to be sure, but cotton candy, and stayed that way to the end. Ugh.

Rosalind is interesting to me because the other scent I tried at around the same time was Persephone, and up until then I never imagined that two fruit scents could be so different. While Persephone is a sweet sweet sweet juicy smell, like fruity food right up in my face, Rosalind is distinctly like berries, but sun-warmed berries growing outdoors in the open air. I didn't get a grass or leafy note from it, but there's definitely something there that makes the berries seem like they're part of a much bigger picture. It's a round, soft, fresh, low-key sweetness with no tart or sharp notes at all. Really quite a peaceful scent. In the imp and immediately on the skin Rosalind has a strong, unfortunate resemblance to scented dryer sheets. It took time for it to mellow and round a bit and once it did, it was one of those scents that seems to be coming from *inside* my skin. It's not "me" as a body scent but I think it would be fantastic on linens.
