    Chaos Theory III: Strange Attractors

when i first sniffed my bottle of CTIII DCCCXLII (842), i'm not sure what i smelled in it, but it was some kind of unplaceable nostalgic smell. i don't get it any more, though. i thought it was a nice scent at first, but nothing spectacularly amazing. i'm not too familiar with most notes in general, but i'm pretty sure i recognized incenscy, sugary notes, with maybe a hint of smoke. i have little to no experience with similar scents, so as i went on sniffing all 18 imps in my order, along with ELF, i caught a whiff of something that made me feel nauseous and gave me a headache and thought it might be my ctIII. it made me sad ;_; i waited a day or two and tried it again yesterday, and was pleasantly surprised. the effect was *not* replicated, and i was really intrigued by the scent that unfolded. i kept sniffing and sniffing my hand to try and figure it out, and i grew to like it more and more. i think there's some kind of cinnamon and/or mint under the sugar/vanilla and incensce. as it dried down that part of it kind of peeped out a little more, but no single aspect ever seemed to be too dominant over the others. it was a little on the foody side (even though i've never actually tried any foody bpal scents), but not in a way that i felt like eating myself. if i sniffed too closely and too deeply, i could feel a little headache sensation coming on, but that soon went away, and it was nothing like the aweful nausea headache that something else gave me. that made me incredibly pleased i'm not sure yet if this is going to be something that ends up being the perfect "me" scent, and my initial impression was that it won't, but i still really like it and am very glad that i have it. also, there's still time for my impression about it to change

Allergy Questions, Allergies and other reactions to oils

someone mentioned a reaction to kabuki and someone else mentioned anise. i've only tried 10 different scents, but i've had a (somewhat mild) reaction to two of them already: kabuki and kyoto. after a shower i applied to several pulse points and within several seconds the area where i'd applied to my armpits and the crook of my arms was burning and also turned slightly red. i notice that, after doing the same thing with kyoto, the reaction was similar but markedly less intense. in both cases, it was gone within a few minutes, and my solution for the duration was just to to a little crazy dance. fun! i really love kabuki, so i'm glad it didn't last. i'm pretty sure it was the star anise that did it, since both of those feature it. also, when i applied later on (not right after a sower) the reaction was reduced to almost nothing. so far i haven't experienced anything similar with any other oils, right after a shower or not also, kyoto sometimes gives m a mild headache when it's still wet, and i'm going to pin that on the white musk, just as a wild guess. i think it's a nice scent, but i'm glad i don't like it too much, since i can live without it. patchouli can also be stifling for me (once i was wearing a little too much lust and i almost felt like i was going to pass out), which is bad because i really love patchouli scents, but good because it strikes me as a typically masculine note, so i don't consider it particularly fitting to me
