Sweet candied violets! I love most of BPAL's violet scents and this one is lovely. Simple, sweet, light...it'll be so perfect for spring. Switched --Shollin

This is fantastic! Why isn't it more popular? The currant and musk are the most prominent but I keep getting lovely little herbally whiffs of lavender too. It all blends together beautifully. It's not too strong but it's definitely there. I can see that this would smell GREAT on a man but it's a nice scent on a woman too.

I think I've figured it out. Lemon LOVES me and wants to be my friend. I on the other hand don't want to smell like furniture polish. This makes things difficult. I get a tangy whiff of sandalwood on first application, and then LEMONLEMONLEMON...a little later, some cedar. These are nice smells but the lemon and cedar combined are just too cleaning-producty. I may use this as a room scent when I want people to think I've just dusted!

In the imp: oooh blackberries! First application: hello sage! Then it mellows down into musky berries and stays that way...this would be a great scent if it were stronger. I have to put my nose to my wrist to smell it at all. Maybe in warm weather it'll have a little more throw...it's beautiful but so faint it's barely there.

Manly! But only on a certain type of man. Not for me. Patchouli really jumps out on me, and I'm not a big patchouli fan (with a couple of very rare exceptions). This does have a "classic" aura about it, though.

This starts out as spicy dragon's blood and quickly turns into smoky spices. In fact, it smells almost identical to Three Witches to my nose! Anyone who's missing Three Witches ought to try this out. Me, I'm not big on smoke--I'll stick to Dragon's Blood, Milk, and Musk for my dragon's blood needs.

Rose Recommendations - which blend is for me?

Harlot irritated my skin, too--not just some redness, either, but itchy little red bumps! Ouchie. -
Fresh from the lab, this was tooth-achingly sweet marzipan. Not a *bad* smell, per se, but so sweetsweetsweet that it was overwhelming. I let the imp age for a few months and it's a lovely, mild almond pastry/cookie smell now that makes me want to bake! Not very strong, just nice and pleasant and almondy.

Rose Recommendations - which blend is for me?

Blood Rose doesn't qualify as spicy or green, but it's gorgeous all the same and very much not a straightforward "ooh, smells like roses in here" oil. -
Lemons? Wha...? I smell like furniture polish. Maybe if I age this it'll start to smell like the actual description.

Yep, that's plumeria and pear all right. It's nice but not really me; it's a little too much like all those plumeria or pear scents from the likes of Bath and Body Works. (Although this doesn't have that chemical smell that BBW's stuff has!) Very light and summery.

This reminds me of fried pies--I guess that's the funnel cake note. Fried dough and powdered sugar. I don't get any apple, caramel, or salt at all. It's an interesting concept for a scent, though, and might be nice to layer with something else in the foody family.

Hollywood Babylon's sluttier cousin. The strawberry dominates but the red musk is right up there in the blend, with just a whiff of grapefruit. This reminds me of strawberry wine and is a fruity scent that manages to be sexy and not too girly. So far it's lasting well too. I might get a bottle of this for summertime.

Rose and lotus, just like the description. I'm not nuts about lotus but love rose, so I thought I'd give this one a whirl. It's a nice blend of the two on me and the lotus isn't killing me like it does sometimes. I think my rose needs are satisfied with Blood Rose and Spellbound, but I'll keep this imp around for days when I want something simpler.

This turned into sour chocolate milk on me at first...and then I happened across the imp yesterday and thought I'd try it again, because I love cocoa, sandalwood, and myrrh...and it really works on me now. It's a few months old so I guess this is one that needs to age a bit. I smell the chocolate and the sandalwood, and it reminds me of Cocoa Puffs, of all things. It's also a bit reminiscent of Comptoir sud Pacifique's Amour de Cacao. I put some on before bed last night and kept getting whiffs of it whenever I woke up in the night...and this morning I could still smell it! Beautiful.

So this is red musk. WOW. This is an amazing blend. I get a bit of the "Is that Snake Oil?" whiff in the first 5 minutes and it's a heady mix of fruit, vanilla, and musk from then on. Sexy and complex and...it smells *expensive*. And lasts for hours! I need more.

Snake Oil Help! Layering it, Snake Pit scents, blends with Snake Oil

I've been wearing Tombstone this week and the vanilla in it is very Snake Oil-y; looking at the reviews for Tombstone I see I'm not the only one who noticed this! Sort of a Snake Oil without the spices. -

My imp of Vixen was ordered in late July too--I guess we've hit on the right amount of time to age it! -
I didn't know a root beer float could smell like PURE SEX. Wow. I do smell the cedar in this blend but it settles into the background quickly, and it's root beer and heavy French vanilla with a Snake Oil vibe. Lasts for hours, too.

Dragon's Musk and Vixen both remind me of SN. Vixen has to age a little bit first and then whoa it's awesome. -
This is like smelling the whole bag of spiced jelly beans at once--lemon, mint, licorice. The anise is amping like crazy. I don't think I'd wear this much but it's definitely different! And I'm craving jelly beans now.

Lemon drops! The tea's coming out now too. This smells a lot like The Dormouse on me, although a little heavier on the lemon. It's very refreshing; I think I'll keep this imp for a hot day.

Vetiver and I just aren't going to ever see eye-to-eye, and that's all I smell here (with a teeeeeeny bit of leather peeking through). Yuuuurgh.

Upon first application my thought was "Swank? Is that you?". The two are SO similar and I love both. The Hamptons has slightly better staying power on me but both are so crisp and fruity with that boozy undertone. Bottle!!

Strong mint that fades down in a couple of hours to watery mint. Interesting, but mint isn't really my bag.
