    Cake Smash

Wet: mmm red velvet cake can I have extra frosting on my slice, please? Thanks!! Cake Smash gets interesting as it dries--the Snake Oil and Dorian kind of take turns saying hi (I've never tried Doc. C. either so I can't say if it's here or not), then about an hour in this becomes...perfumey cake. ITA that there's something a bit Beaver Moon 2005 about this! I'm going to have to reconsider it in about 6 months, since the SO factor here means this is going to age incredibly, but it's pretty tasty right now too, and the Dorian/SO added to the cake keep this from making you smell purely of baked goods. Not quite what I was expecting, but very nice.

    Mlle. Lilith, Fortune Teller

Fruit + musk almost always=WIN and this is no exception--what a gorgeous light, girly, happy blend! I'm reminded more of Shango than Mme. Moriarty, with all those tropical fruits. I'm getting a bit of cypress/myrtle underneath it all, just keeping it grounded and from floating away on its own effervescence. This is so pretty and sweet--I love it!

    Falling Leaf Moon

I was a little worried about the possible aquatic factor here, what with the rains, and there is a brief watery note when this is wet (Heh--how appropriate)...but it doesn't last...the thing I smell above all the other notes here is oakmoss. The longer this dries the more complex it becomes, though, with the patchouli and resins and wood blending in. Wonderfully autumnal. This is going to smell even better by this time next fall, too.

    Erebos Atmosphere Spray

Oh yeah, this is TKO-esque for sure!! I've always gotten SAGE as the primary note in TKO (yummm) so when I hear people describe it as "lavender marshmallow" I always wonder what it smells like to them--it's Erebos!! I can smell some of the florals peeking out the longer it lingers in the room. Beautiful! And STRONG!

    The Last Squished Jellybean

NOM. The last jellybean smells like the licorice ones and the cinnamon ones from the spicy-jellybean bag smooshed together--yum!! The cinnamon dominates at first with the licorice/anise taking over the longer it dries. Foody wonderfulness, and this has great throw and staying power. We can haz bottles???

    Detestable Putrescence

Delicious French vanilla with a slight creme brulee feel to it...this is wanting to go plasticky on me every few minutes, but not staying that way, so I think it's going to work out fine. It's STRONG, too. Yum.

    The Owens' Tomb

Stone, a slight rotting-vegetation smell, and then flowersflowersflowers. Mostly lily and daffodil. The drier this gets the more man-cologne it's getting, but it's pleasant. Tons of throw. Nice if you like lilies!

    The Sluggard

This morphs interestingly and nicely. Wet it's all nose-wrinkling woods and lavender and a bit unpleasant. Dry, the gardenia and pear have taken center stage. Lots of depth from the frankincense and woods to keep this from being just another fruity floral. Great throw! I'm really impressed with all of the new Mad Tea Party blends; there's something for everyone and they're all really well-executed.

'Tis The Voice Of The Lobster

Fruity YUM! This is so gorgeous! Gardenia tends to die on me but here it's just a nice flowery addition keeping the blend from smelling too candy-like. I get a lot of berry and melon; it's like a delicious fruit salad. Summery and wonderful.

    Against Idleness and Mischief

This is honey and vanilla all the way with a bit of...something...lighter and fresher to keep it from being all O-like. It smells a LOT like Pink Phoenix to me, although it's much heavier and less girly than PP. Yummy, should age well, should be tried by all vanilla/honey lovers!

    Snooty Rose

Rose...but not crazy dominant rose; I get sandalwood from this and a sweetness from the plum. Something's going a bit dusty, but that's not necessarily a bad thing; it gives the blend an old-fashioned feel. This does remind me a bit of Raksasha but it's sweeter and lighter. I may let this age a bit and retry.

    Aperotos Eros

Musssssssssssssssk with spice (the bergamot??) and myrrh...oh, hell, I can't really pick out a lot of notes here; this is beautifully blended and sexy as hell. Between this and Whoso List To Hunt I'm bowled over by the newest musky GCs!

    High-Strung Daisies

Whoa--have I found a carnation I can actually wear?? The sugar is dominant here--I do smell daisy and carnation but the whole blend is very sweet and candylike. Girly, cute. Pepper's not really showing up (fine with me). If this can keep from going all powdery like carnation usually does, it'll be a miracle, and a winner.

    All In The Golden Afternoon

Tangerine! And tobacco. And pineapple. This definitely smells "golden"...light and sweet and summery. I'm not getting "floral" here, just fruity, light tobacco...a lovely way to wear tobacco in hot weather!

    Whoso List To Hunt

This is beautiful. Musky and mossy with a bit of rose. It's a bit much for hot weather but I can see pulling this out once fall is here...and this reminds me a bit of Hunter Moon; if you liked that one this is a must-try. Very sensual.

    Twinkle, Twinkle Little Bat

MELON MELON MELON...but as it dries the herbs come in to give this depth. And staying power--most melons disappear on me in minutes but this one's still going strong. I don't really get mint from this blend. Very summery and cooling!

    Imperious Tiger-Lily

Oh, lily. Maybe someday you won't completely turn to expensive soap on me! Until then...

    How Doth the Little Crocodile

Yum. I tend to amp cedar and was a little worried about that here but it doesn't overpower the other notes at all. This is a delicious cocoa mint at first, with the mint fading quickly as it always does on me...the drydown is chocolate with cedar keeping it from being too foody. I agree that it's a bit like Velvet.

    Alice's Evidence

The throw on this is INSANE. I'm testing several different scents right now and the prune/plum is just going crazy. Lots of spice and a hint of ginger to back up the plum, but once again I fear that the BPAL plum note is going totally potpourri/candle on me. I may tuck this away and try it again in winter, though, because it's not a warm-weather scent at all.

    Brusque Violet

Gorgeously earthy violet. A lot of violet blends tend to be candy-sweet but this one is greener. It's like picking violets in the woods!! I don't get the mint in this at all, unlike Ultraviolet. Lovely and if the staying power turns out to be good, this one will be a realy winner.

    Zombie Apocalypse

Red gooey jam for sure. When first applied there was a metallic-y edge to this that really didn't sit well with my nose but that has faded and a caramel/burnt sugar note is starting to amp up. Jelly doughnut is spot on! I don't know if I could wear this regularly but it's definitely fun and foody.

    Psychological Horror

Old-school perfumey, powdery (in a good way) floral...this just oozes ladylike femininity! It's got a slight soapy cleanness going on too (a touch of Joan Crawford there? ha!). Scents like this can be cloying and heavy but this is lighter and airy. I'd compare it to something like Darkness in the GC.

    Berry Moon 2009

Straight blueberries in the bottle (smells great!) but on my skin I am getting musky honey with a touch of raspberry and a teeeeny hint of fig. Complex and doesn't shout FRUIT all over the place. Another great scent for late summer...and I bet it'll age well as honey blends all seem to do...I like it!
  24. Iceblink

    Stinky

Light, honeyed powder, fresh and clean--I can't think of any other BPAL that's ever smelled like this one, and since I AM one of those people who ordinarily hates traditional "clean" scents, this is a very welcome addition to my collection. The milk note is not an issue here like it sometimes is for me (usually it goes rather sour)...this is a perfect perfume for the dog days of summer, and has pretty nice throw for such a light scent.
  25. Iceblink

    Skuld

I get the grapeyness with this too--as it dries that fruity sweetness is definitely becoming honey and ylang-ylang and the musks are coming out more...it's a bit like honey incense! I wasn't nuts about it wet but the drydown is more subtle and rather sexy...and this has been floating around in the GC for how long and I haven't paid attention to it?? Shame on me!
