Schmoozy

Pretty much straight up cherry almond with mahogany. Again I am not a big fan of cherry, and surprisingly enough cherry always means sickly sweet on my skin. Not the case in The Red Queen. The dryness of the woods and mahogany temper the sweetness, giving a red note feel.

However, while I do enjoy wood, the cherry pipe tobacco smell that is coming with it, makes my stomach quiver.

A floral explosion starring lilies. I like lily, but I like a subdued lily, not *wham* in your face.

Unfortunately this is too floral for me and not enough green, which I detect. I fear the drop of cherry is what makes this a tad too sweet. I love the smell from imp, but once applied it is just overwhelming.

A single drop was to much for me, and while it is pretty, it's not for me.

I find Queen Alice to be such an odd combination of scents that work really well together. It begins as a spicy carnation that has hints of amber, and a touch of cider.

The spiciness is deepened by the wine which I envision is red. To me Queen Alice, The Lion and The Mouse's Long and Sad Tale are all cool weather scents. Perfect for the fall when you know the cold is coming. I adore how Queen Alice remains all spicy carnation on my skin, as I feared when I first tried it the cider would overpower. This is the perfect pairing for Lush's potion lotion and having recently tried Cememence, this is quite similar.

The Pool of Tears is an aquatic floral with a touch of salt and a few green notes added for good measure. I get a herbal vibe, and I suspect that there may be lavender or rosemary somewhere inside.

The florals in PoT, do not come across on my skin as sweet, but more herbally/medicinal and very green. Combined with the aqautic notes this makes for a beautiful blend.

A favorite, especially when I don't want a heavy floral.

It doesn't get any better than this. Amber, sandalwood and vanilla. Creamy vanilla, warm comforting sandalwood and the sexiest note out there - amber.

All three combine together beautifully to create a blend that makes you feel like a woman. I really don't smell sweet pea, except wen I sniff from the bottle, and immediately after application. A minute after, the sweetness and crispness of sweet pea disappears completely. I am left with a warm, slightly sweet, creamy blend of Amber, sandalwood and vanilla.

Possibly, my most coveted blend of MTP.

Airy, watery, and minty. It starts off slightly sweet, due to the green apple and mint. I detect a mix of light florals and the sheer crispness of The Mock Turtle's Lesson is surprisingly comforting. After it dries down the mint becomes less dominant, and the lime, green apple and iris really standout.

This is a great summer blend. Very refreshing and since I adore airy, aquatic scents this is a big hit with me. Not too sweet, and very light and fresh.

I can't pinpoint this scent if my life depended on it. First off I get cherry almonds. After that fades away I smell roses a hint of red musk and rosewood. Normally I detest red musk, for some reson it smells good, but once applied it goes wonky. Now in King of Hearts, the red musk is very gentle, almost nonexistant. The essesnce of musk is there though. Right at the end I get whiffs of lavender. It is a morpher that's for sure!

Lavender and Mint and dash of pennyroyal. Normally I am not a fan of pennyroyal, but I adore lavender and mint and they definitely overpower the pennyroyal. I say overpower, but in a good way. It is clear and crisp and unisex. I love wearing this to bed after an Ice Hotel bubble bath.

Very soothing and calming.

Another foodie scent with dimension. I adore the crushed roses in this blend. Roses and tarts combine beautifully together and along with the buttered pastry, I swear I am going to eat my arm.

Again this lasts really long on my skin.

Warm, exotic, spicy and very commanding.

The lion is very comforting and amber makes me feel so happy. For a moment it is almost foody. Almost.

But mostly I feel warm and golden, when I wear the Lion.

A nose/sinus clearing blend. Holy hell I love it. Pine, eucalyptus and orange, some of my most favorite notes.
It is bright, crisp and outdoorsy. Jabberwocky is me bottled.

Sweet purple plums wrapped in carnation and chrysanthemum, with a touch of musk.

It is lush, wet, ripe and very pretty. I adore the spiciness of the carnations and together with the plum it almost feels christmas-y!

A foodie blend that lasts on my skin and has a bit of dimension.

It is cakey, almondy and fruity all at the same time. Surprisingly the vanilla behaves as well. 50% of the time vanilla can go weird, and I fell it's the red and black currants that help the vanilla.

As much as I love this one though, I have to limit wearing it, as I find sometimes it can be too much. I guess I am not used to a foodie blend that lasts!

Such an odd blend of notes, but somehow manages to come across as an extremely foody blend.

For the most part I smell buttered popcorn. Other times a whiff of turkey, and then right at the end of Drink me, I get a soft hint of cherry custard.

It makes me hungry.

A stunningly soft, herbal fragrance. This is one of my favorite MTP scents. A slightly sugared tea with herbs and peony. In my experience peony is not an overwhelming floral. Vey soft and almost gives off this feeling of magic. Has a clean laundry drying in the outdoors vibe to it.

Woody, musky and lemony. It's not one of my favorites, but it's not bad either. For some reason my skin eats this up like crazy. Which is funny, because it is very powerful when first applied. I am also feeling a patchouli vibe, and I don't like it!

I get a cinnamon twist before *poof* it completely disappears.

Another quirky blend. I was worried about the patchouli, but thankfully there are notes that seem to take the spotlight. Phew!

Croquet starts off fruity and citrus-y, and behind the both of them is this glimpse of rosy musk. The hedgehog musk combined with sage & rose mixes to make a very feminine/perfumey blend that is cheerful, bright and very beautiful.

Long lasting and decidely pretty. It is one of my favorites from MTP!

First Sniff: Predominantly citrus notes balanced with musk and lavender.

 

On skin: I adore the notes in this, and funnily enough I am reminded of my hubby and I in our kitchen at night. The Cheshire Cat is fresh, clean and extremely soothing. The combination of pink grapefruit, chamomile, lavender and musk works very well together.

 

Drydown: The citrus-y crispness fades away and I am left with a soft, soothing combination of musky lavender and chamomile.

I love wearing this once I get home. It sort of perks me up to get me through the evening, but when I am ready to go to bed, the chamomile and lavender help me fall aslepp.

 

Final thoughts: Stunning. an interesting combo of notes that morph in a very pleasant way.

While the Mad Tea Party, is one of my favorite collections from the BPAL catalog, The Caterpillar is unfortunately not a winner for me.

I still had to try it of course, but it contains too many deal breaker notes such as jasmine, pacthouli and incense notes.

 

I had high hopes that maybe rose, carnation, bergamot or even the neroli would try to break through the other notes, but alas, Jasmine prevails, and I can only smell it and patchouli which make me very ill.

 

Oh well, I can't love them all, right?

First Sniff: Rose, agave nectar and tobacco.

 

On Skin: Woah. Why is it that agave nectar translates into honey. Nope this isn't working for me.

It is too sickly sweet, and almost baby powderish. I was hoping that copal and some precious woods would maybe balance it out and perhaps tone it down, but this is gross. Must wash off now.

Wet, upturned dirt and moss.

It has this green vibe, that reminds me of my compost out back. The smell when I am tyring to mix it together.

Ugh, what was I thinking.

I can't get past the barley and the hops. Add the metallic tang of blood and you got a recipe to make sick.

God damn jasmine ruining everything. I swear Beth made a mistake when she included it. She really didn't mean to.....lol

There is the presence of buttery pumpkin, and then I smell the yummy berries and figs.

Rosehips give it a depth that I adore, as it reminds me of many teas I drink with rosehips inside. Rose and carnation blend together beuatifully, and surprisingly enough the evil jaz is playing very quietly among them.

 

Huh, there may be hope afterall.

With Hay absolute I am reminded very briefly of Hay Moon, until the pumpkin rind enters the picture.

It feels warm, and sunny, and the twisting vines give off a sweet, light floral feel. Maybe not so much floral, but more green. I get the metallic note but it is nowhere near as metallic as egg'd mailbox, more like mechanical phoenix.

Overall a needle in the haystack is a beautiful sun kissed, green pumpkin laying in hay with a touch of metallic.

Overall I am just amazed at this years pumpkin patch. So many begin as a buttery pumpkin and then the other notes come into play and the pumpkin melds so beautifully with everything else.

# 4 is no different from the others. I was worried about the honey, as we really don't get along, but I can barely detect it. Thank goodness.

Smoky vanilla and the cherry tobacco is what sweetens this for me.

I wish I could smell the pine, but alas it is hiding from me.
