Schmoozy

Cold, wet snow with bit's of pine, moss and dirt. Throw in some juniper berry and mint and you have Snowball Fracas. It's a fun, clean scent.

 

Wow. But Men was nothing what I was expecting. Smoky vanilla, herbs and spices with a touch of earthy woods. Patchouli is not overwhelming, just adds a little darkness and earthiness. Bitter clove and ginger combined with myrrh and labdanum help the smoky vanilla become spicier and exotic.

This is seriously a beautiful, dark and sexy blend.

 

 

This is earthy, pink, spicy and floral. Unfortunately it is a mish mash of notes that just don't really work for me. The tea rose is beautiful and the pink pepper gives it a hint of girly spice, but then the jasmine and patchouli come into play and wreaks havoc. The bourbon adds a boozy kick to a blend that is getting worse by the minute.

 

 

Clean crisp gardenia with a little spiciness from the tobacco flower and bergamot. It is a very loud blend, and honestly a small dab will do. Anything more and you'll be drowning in LuLu's scent.

 

 

Interesting. Chocolate, plum and red ginger. Upon initial application it is bitter with the chocolate & amaretto adding a touch of sweetness. Unfortunately all I can smell is the red ginger and red musk, and I don't like it. A unique blend, just not for me.

Hmmm, a deep, dark heady floral. If the night blooming jasmine and honeysuckle calmed down just a bit, this might have worked. Unfortunately they overpower the cedar, nectarine and tea and really amp the sweet clove. Overall it is just a jasmine/honeysuckle mess on my skin.

 

Mmmm apple blossom. Slightly sweet & kinda tart. This is all apple blossom, sandalwood, amber and wet fruits & florals. Besides the apple blossom and sandalwood, the other notes are so finely tuned and blended that I really can't pick out any of them on their own. The wet fruits and florals are a great balance for the dry woodsy sandalwood, and once it has a chance to really linger on my skin it becomes this spicy, creamy, woodsy floral.

 

Absolute love. This is exactly what the notes state - Honeyed peaches and magnolia. Lush, velvety peaches drizzled with honey combined with magnolia. It's sweet, it's summery and it is beautiful.

Another District winner.

This is heaven. Honey that works on my skin, without being aged??? I am boggled. Crib Girls is tart lemon and spicy cardamom with a crapload of sweet, thick golden honey. It is bright, summery and utterly gorgeous. Definitely bottle worthy.

Lemon pepper sugar cookies with some nuts and dry, baking spices. Clove, cardamom stand out more than the cinnamon & nutmeg. It is foody, but it is a dry spicy foody. There is really no sweetness involved at all. It's good, but I think I prefer Toothsome blanketstaff more

than pfefferneusse.

Love! Buttery, flaky pastry with apricots & cherries and a tonne of spice. Normally I am not a fan of cherry scented anything, but it really does magical things on my skin. This is one of those scents that make me very hungry.

 

Sweet & spicy snow & leaves. It's kinda dry. dusty even. which is surprising for a snow scent. The musk is there. It's a sweet musk with a metallic tang to it. Kinda like a glow from within. Hmmm, now the camellia petals appear. This is a sweet, snow scent that had hints of spice at the start but fade away as the petals immerge. You can smell the dry old leaves, but they also disappear into the background. The florals have faded too. This was questionable at the start, but it morphs alot in the 5 minutes since i put it on. It's growing on me. It was a loud scent at first, but now it has all mellowed out and I like it. A soft sweet snowy scent with a little bit of musk. Dry leaves and soft florals in the background. I think of November from '07 .

 

Musky cocoa and tobacco. It is slightly sweet, kinda dry & dusty and extremely sexy.

Cocoa is the only thing inside that is similar to Boomslang. Other than that, the two blends are worlds apart. This is kinda sharp and astringent, while boomslang is creamy and velvety.

Definitely bottle worthy, but not multiples.

 

Smells like motor oil...But thats a good thing. It's manly. It's that sexiness of leather but not. It's a bright scent. It smells like I just played around with the car engine and have grease on my fingers and a clove ciggie burning from my lips. There's some greenery too. This is going to smell amazing on the guys.

Wow! Peach Moon is spectacular. My only regret is that I didn't buy multiples of this when I had the chance.

This is over-ripe peaches bursting with juices. The musk seems to really amp the peach blossom and chrysanthemum. This is really full and vibrant. Thank goodness jasmine is not really prevalent. It kinda comes in screaming and immediately heads right to the back.

Seems like a funny month to be testing something with peach inside so I am more than likely goign to file this away until the temperatures warm up.

 

This is damn good. Amber and woods with sage and snow. It is resiny, woodsy, herbal and minty all at the same time. I don't see how a blend can have all these notes inside and not become a jumbled mess. But it works. After drydown the teak and redwood mixed with the two ambers are the real stars of Ded Morez. It is light and it is dark, and it is really good.

 

 

 

 

Holy shit batman. This is really, really icy and cold. This is a eucalyptus and mints type snow blend. At first there is something almost dark and sinister when I first applied it. It lurks in the background. It is the darkness of being cold. I can't put my finger on it. After awhile that same creamy note from Snow White/Flakes & Maiden appears and the darkness is gone. Hmmm. I kinda liked that quality.

This is alot like Snow Bunny. Perfumed florals (daffodils) and snow. It is really icy at first, and then the unmistakeable scent of pine come through. Unlike Snow Bunny, The First Soft Snow is quite airy. I can smell ozone, which is always a crisp, clean scent. Very, very nice.

 

 

 

 

Creamy, delicate rose mingles with vanilla and almond. I have to disagree with folks who say this is Snow White with Rose. This is a lightly perfumed rose, with creamy vanilla and almond. I don't get a cold note or even the lab's 'snow' note. And there is no greenery in here.

However, this is simply beautiful. Classic, stunning and extremely pretty. This is multiple bottle worthy.

 

Christmas spices, hellebore and the unmistakeable scent of snow. This is green, however there is a certain darkness to this scent that is hard to describe. I think it may have something to do with the bruised-tint of the hellebore. Almost a sap or residue that leaks out if a petal or stem has been snapped.

2007 Midwinter's Eve

 

Another simple Christmas scent. Spiced sugar plums and the barest hints of florals. It is a lovely scent for the first 30 minutes and then the florals become to sweet and the sugared plums turn on my skin.

 

Diwali is so many things at once. Upon initial application it is rich, creamy and really spicy. I am greeted by the cardamom, clove, almond milk, nuts and rice flower. So far so good. After it begins to drdown the unmistakeable scent of coconut appears and slightly sweetens the blend. After awhile the sandalwood and cedar arrive and incense follows closely behind. I can't quite smelling myself. There is soft incensed woods, dry dusty sandalwood and spice, spice, spice.

An absolutely breathtaking blend. I always forget how beautiful it is.

 

Noche Buena is an odd scent to describe. It is vibrant, and very floral with hints of incense wafting throughout the background. It feels very lush and very green. The florals could be very overpowering together, but somehow the incense manages to temper them. Tiger lily and purple sage at are the forefront, while plumeria and chrysanthemum are at the back. The mums also lend a spicy touch.

All in all, Noche Buena feels outta place. Perhaps it is because I have always lived in places that have snow all winter, so to smell so many florals in the dead of winter feels off.

 

The Shivering Boy 2007

I am not sure how Beth does it, but The Shivering Boy is frozen resins, snow and woods. It is a blend that invokes the feeling of ice cold winters and storms. This a snow blend like no other and has aged wonderfully. I can't wait until from my '09 bottle, and I look forward to seeing if there is a grape note that appears, as I couldn't detect one in the orginal release.

A simple scent. Crisp, tart and slightly bitter. There is just the barest hint of spice that mingles with the pomengranate.

A touch of cold is also present.
