BPAL for Costume Parties, Halloween Costumes
Dinerdulcinea replied to chin's topic in Recommendations
I don't know what Oberon *I* must have been smelling...but all I got from it was OLDLADYORCHID OHMYGOODNESSICKYNASTY!! Based on the scents types he likes, I wonder if he might be interested in trying Oblivion. I tried it yesterday and it was very interesting, rich, warm, and strange...appropriate for an elf king. -
imp: a little bit our sour acrid spice. wet: ewwwww...what's in there? Jasmine? *goes to look* it's the lily and something else...copal? Don't know. dry: If I had to decide right now, I'd say this is a "no" on me. The Lily gets to the "old dying lily" smell stage.
-
imp: tea wet: tea with a hint of odd vanilla...the tea part is refreshing though dry: very pleasant for a while, but eventually babypowder. POOPY! I really wanted this one to work on me.
-
imp: it smells like eating sweet treats by the campfire. wet:same...but then the musk starts to come out to play... dry: a little babypowdery...but the musk is still nice. We'll see...later: pleasant and spicy, but still a little baby-powdery. Eventually all babypowder. Oh well. I like the idea of it and the way it smells for a while...but I think I'll pass.

imp: jasmine, but well balanced with other things wet: UNGH!!! Jasmine! Sour! dry: Hubby says bad old lady patchouli. I think it smells like rotten jasmine and sweat socks. OH ALAS!!!!! That's OK. I'll trade it for something else.
-
Snake Charmer turns to major vanilla on me. mmmmmmm...
-
imp: Fruit and something dangerous (carnation and poppy?) wet: Something rotten and plastic-y. dry:PUHHHHLASTIC *runs away to scrubbbbbb!!!* EEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!
-
imp: ewwwww...I think I'm going to hate this. Must be the orchid. wet: BLEEEEEHHHHHH! Old lady extraordinaire!!!! It has the old-lady-stuffy-bathroom-soap thing going on...and it makes me want to sneeze!!!! EEEEEEEEEK! dry: keeps getting more and more rancid----washhhhh offfff nowwwwwwwwww!!!!!

imp: OOO! Compelling! Cherry, tea, and a little bit spicy. wet:hmmm...interesting...perplexing...not sure what I think yet dry: I smell the persimmon and the yuzu...I smell floral faintly but it doesn't smell like cherry blossoms it smells more of a perfume-y floral than that. I REALLY smell the tea. The more I wear it, the more the persimmon and yuzu are coming out. Eventually, however, it becomes yucky-soapy-sour-sweaty-socks-GROSS.

imp: I smell a sweet mildly spicy fruity-ness. wet:same, but I think it will turn to baby powder on me. dry: OK...it's been several hours and it never turned to baby powder on me as I feared it might...but it never really changed. It's kind of...meh. Not bad, not great...meh.
-
imp: dusky, fruity, mildly spicy wet: ooooo...spicy...but also a little plasticy fruit like. We'll see. dry: plastic Strawberry Shortcake Doll-like fruit. NOT burnt plastic like some of them...but plastic fruit. ble. What a bummer. I didn't get any of the notes in the description. Oh poo!
-
imp: foody, spicy (saffron?) and sweet. A little buttery as well. wet: more saffron, but it doesn't smell like real saffron or even much like the saffron in Scherezade smells. It also smells a little dirty, and I can't decide if that is a good or a bad thing. Dry: Very interesting and complex, but it only elicits a slightly above average rating (rather than the AMAZING rating I had expected) from me and from my hubby and from the perfume peanut gallery here at work. Since it is so hard to come by, I think I wll pass on it.
-
imp: cherry candy lolipops and mahogany wood. wet: the wood comes out much stronger now dry: gets too cedar-closety later. Ble.
-
imp: Sparkly! wet: eew...I am smell something that might go sour dry: never went sour, but went straight to soap. meh.
-
imp: a beautiful warm blend of florals. Very welcoming...like a garden under the warm (not hot!) sun. wet: a beautiful blend of soft florals! Lovely! Is that lilac? Dry: soap! Dammmmmmmit!
-
imp: delicious buttery treats! MMMMM! wet: yummy. Similar to above but with a little more butterscotch dry: gets burnt-plastic-y after about 20 minutes. RUN AWAAAAAAAY!
-
imp: sweet, foody, spicy, and herbal all at once. wet: Tonka, Mandarin, and a cocoa/saffron mix. dry: sadly, it gets soapy perfume-y powdery after about 1 1/2 hours. eeewww.
-
imp: coconut! Sweet food (cake?)! wet: tabacco, dirty smoke, rum, coconut dry: it smells like burning dirty tabacco. EEEEW! I like the smell of unlit tabacco, but not lit. Also, I have finally discovered the baby powder butt smell from Juke Joint---it was the booze! After being nice and lovely, the run here started to turn to baby powder. The coconut is nice, though. If it were just coconut, sugar, and UNLIT tabacco, it would be lovely. Oh well. Swaps!

Help Identifying Notes, What Certain Notes Smell Like
Dinerdulcinea replied to Donnababe's topic in Recommendations
Does it go all metal/grit/plastic on you? Some of the buttery scents do that on me...some of the cream ones do too. MIGHT be that... -
Eewwwwww...in the vial, I think this is stinky. Wet: same. ble. Dry: MOST of this scent is now a GORGEOUS warmness. But there is still one note that smells SOUR like something rotten (gardenia?). I am not sure whether gardenia or jasmine don't like me...maybe both.
-
imp: interesting herbal smell... wet: uh...I don't know about this one... dry: interesting herbal, got very lovely, but not my favorite. Verdict: nah. I'll save myself for something I love more.
-
imp: OMG! What a gorgeous, unplaceable smell! on: ALMOND! It's a sweet almond smell I smell. I can smell cranberries too. I love it! Later: meh. becomes a bit generic and too candy after a while. Oh well.
-
imp: STINKY and repellant wet:very stinky! dry: interesting!!! It is very light and I can smell cactus flowers. I don't know where the really NASTY stinky part went (or what it was) but it is mostly gone now! Verdict: Still a little bit of stinkyness lingers. naaahhhh...just not me.
-
imp: cheesecake! I can smell the graham cracker crust and the cream cheese with sour cream and a touch of lemon...but it is rather faint. wet: same. dry: this gets sweet/dessert-y on me in a fine way, but it loses the cheesecake "tang" and becomes a more "generic cheesecake" smell. Verdict: It is pleasant, but not very strong and not super throw...I think I will swap this for something else hard to find. I have an imp of Underpants coming and if it as as good as I hope it is, I may try to swap this bottle for one of that.

Meh. imp: fruity sweet amber wet: same, but I am afraid it will go baby powder on me... dry: after several hours, it never really changes, just gets softer. It doesn't ever become the "dreaded baby powder," but it never really becomes gorgeous either. It is OK, but nothing for me to scream about. I'll reserve that for other blends. Swaps.
