    I need more Cherry!

Right now I'm testing Youth's Disengagement which has an awesome cherry note. Kabuki has the nicest cherry I've tried but some folks are turned off by the star anise.

    Candy Phoenix

Goodness, this is yummy This doesn't morph at all. Same scent in the bottle, wet,and dry. It smells just like La Vie Pastillines Hard Candy. As a kid my Mom would buy me a tin of La Vie candies whenever she took me shopping. So, this scent takes me back to my childhood. I love this!

    Leather and Pepper

Have you tried Totentanz? It read peppery leather and musk.

    Thy Godfather's Present

Only tried this because I'm getting to the last of my frimps. Surprisingly nice: herbal, floral, sweet, and purple are the words I'd use to describe this. Quite wearable and would make a nice spring scent. I don't need a bottle of this but I will be keeping the imp.

    The Old Goblin

The Old Goblin went soapy on me and then disappeared after 15 minutes. Oh, well.

    Nanshe

Frimp from the lab. Love lavender and lemon scents so, after reading all the positive reviews, I was expecting to love this. I do get both lavender and lemon but something is amping on my skin that makes this blend quite vile. Blended in with the lemon/lavender I smell cooked fish, mushrooms, and worst of all Neem oil, UGH! I must have some strange skin chemistry going on. I couldn't sleep at all with Nanshe assaulting my nose and had to scrub, scrub, scrub. I will stick with TKO; it smells dreamy and it works.

    Persephone

I don't get any of the Pom. It smells like rose potpourri to my nose. I like my roses to smell fresh, so I'll pass on this one.

    High John the Conqueror

I didn't know what to expect since there are no notes listed in the description. From the reviews, I was thinking this would be soapy but I didn't get any soap at all. The scent doesn't really fit the name. It's soft, sweet, fruity, well blended, and unique. I believe there is Lotus and a touch of Dragon's Blood. This is a surprising hit for me. Haven't tested it for it's magical properties but I love the smell of this. So, whether it works or not I'll still wear it.
  9. Harigata II has anise but the scent has mellowed from age and there isn't much of the Anise note left in it. La Pere Fouettard has a pretty strong Black Licorice in it. To me it's leather and licorice One of the Box O' Chocolates from 2013 had Star Anise that's very nice...Dark chocolate with merlot-infused black cherries and star anise But for Anise scents my personal favorite is still Kabuki which is GC so it's impable. Red musk, cherries, and star anise

    Callidora

In the bottle: Patchouli & Myrrh. Wet Stage: The musk comes out strong. It smells furry. Dry Stage: So many of my beloved notes playing so well together. As this dries each of the notes marches on stage and acts its part seamlessly. I detect all the individual notes listed but when I take a great, big whiff they combine to create a fuzzy, warm, brown scent with a hint of sweetness. This was made for me.

    Vain Sorceress

I agree with Brilliantcat that this smells haughty. With a name like Vain Sorceress that's what I was hoping for. Not getting any foodie scent like some reviewers. On me its floral with hints of spiciness, but just the slightest bit of spice. also, I'm detecting what I believe is the Black Velvet accord because I'm getting something soft and dark in the background. The florals are well blended and not in your face, thank goodness. I love this

    Cootie Blast Conjure-Style Ritual Spray

As far as scent, it's so-so. It has a kind of bug spray scent with something citrus (maybe lemon?). In a way, it makes sense. I think of it as spritzing away the cootie bugs. Despite the scent, I love the spray. I use it at work when things are tense. It's powerful stuff. One spritz in my work area is all I need and it's effects last all day. When I use it things calm down and any anger or nervousness I feel goes away. It also has that effect on anyone who enters my work space. The day just brightens up. Since I only need one spray, my bottle is still 3/4 full. I'd love to see it come back because I'd buy one for home.

    Hope and Fear Set Free

This might as well be Frankincense SN. I don't even get a hint of vanilla. I'm starting to think that Bourbon Vanilla is the one Vanilla note that gets eaten by my skin chemistry. To make matters worse, During my testing I was told by both my BF and my Brother that I smelled like an old, musty lady. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Okay, so roughly nine months have passed since my review. I thought I'd swapped/sold Hope & Fear but I guess not cause I found it tucked away in a box the other day. Well, it's changed...for the better! A bit of aging & vanilla's really hit its stride. Instead of Frank bullying Vanilla into submission the two play really well together. This is now a creamy, sweet Vanilla Frank. Its simple and delicious. Just goes to show the difference aging can make.

    Helpful Crone

Like ReallyZeb, this is a surprise winner for me as well. An unusual scent that it nutty, herbal, smokey, and slightly sweet. I'm going to be wearing this one alot.

    Tricksy

I bought a bottle of Tricksy unsniffed because I didn't realize Aquilaria Aguilocha is Oud. I have a love/hate relationship with Oud. Love the way it smells in the bottle, but as soon as it hits my skin Oud morphs into something unpleasant. If I had done my research I wouldn't have bought a bottle. Well, this ended up being a Happy Accident (to use one of Bob Ross's favorite phrases). This Oud works! Tricksy morphs into a clean, honeyed Patch with Oud swirling around. I am loving this. I must say, without the honey this might be a super masculine scent so I'm glad for the honey that makes it more unisex.

    TKO

TKO smells like a cloud made up of sugary vanilla and lavender. That's the dominant scent anyway. Underneath I'm getting a camphor/eucalyptus/lemon thing going on that smells like Cajeput to me. I also think there is Cajeput in TKO because the blend irritates my skin a little (skin gets warm and slightly itchy) on the dry down just like Cajeput does. Despite the slight irritation, I do love this blend because it smells terrific and I've fallen straight to sleep each night I put it on.

    The Peacock Queen

2013 version: This one doesn't morph at all. Its a lush, heady, fresh rose. A deep red, haughty rose. It starts out that way in the decant and stays that way through to the dry down. Nice throw too. I'm very pleased.

    Gingerbread Zombi

In the decant: Dirt and Gingerbread Wet stage: The zombie part is stronger than the gingerbread. Like zombie with some spicy sweetness Dry stage: Zombie dies down a little; just enough so that gingerbread can poke its head out. They play rather nicely with each other. From a distance this smells like fresh gingerbread. Its oddly moist. Its only when sniffing close up that I get the moss and dirt. This is an odd combination but one that works! I'm really happy with this.

    Le Père Fouettard

2013 version: Decant: Licorice Wet: Wet stage is not that great. Coal dust takes over and buries everything else. Dry: Thankfully, the dry stage doesn't last long. Leather and Licorice make their way to the top until they dominate. If I sniff really close to my wrist I can still smell the Coal Dust that's settled at the bottom. There is also a faint sweetness and spiciness wafting around. I love this.

    Picture Books in Winter

This is more of an evocative scent for me. When I sniff I get the image of an antique, leather bound book with dried flowers pressed into the pages. There is also a sweetness swirling around that I attribute to the scottish block. It's really very lovely.

    Go to Sleep, Darlings

I have to agree with the comparison to Snow White. Smells almost exactly the same but a tad lighter on the Almond/Coconut thing I get from Snow White. Plus, Go To Sleep, Darlings is a bit sweeter. I was going to get a bottle of Snow White. Now I'll just keep both the decants.

    dark/thick/sludge-like?

My Great Sword of War is about a year old now and it's as thick a molasses. Plus, it's a beautiful dark, blood red.

    Time Does Not Bring Relief

2011 Version: A decant from a friend. This has aged to where none of the notes overpower. They all swirl around together into a beautiful powdery, resiny musk. I get hints of lavender and orange blossom. Even though I describe this scent as powdery there is a creamy quality there too. It's quite unusual and quite lovely. A light scent that's perfect for a summer day. If this comes out in a future Luper update I'm definitely snagging a bottle.
  24. Last summer I was really digging Mouse's Long and Sad Tale. So nice! Also, Bon Vivant...Strawberries and effervescent bubbly.

The Boundless Vista of an Inner World

In the decant: Salty, dark aquatic Wet stage: As soon as this hits my skin it's salty coconut. Boy, is it powerful! Dry stage: Salty coconut stays on top with something sickly and overly-sweet in the background. The fungal moss and flora smell like they've been rotting for a while. Verdict: This is one of the very few Lab scents that I have found truly vile. It made me feel nauseous. I'd rate this 0/5. Apologies to the Lab but it's really that bad.
