ok-i'll weigh in on the glasses front-I used to have wonderful bright blue plastic frames-which I loved, they sort of hid the constant circles under my eyes, and people mentioned them a lot-only problem-people noticed the glasses and not me or my eyes-and then last year I found a pair of those no frame kinda frames with a blue bridge over the nose, and it's taken a while getting used to them, but it does kind of open up my face and you see more of my eyes.btw-they do feel flimsier than my plastic glasses. btw-i cant imagine how tough it would be living with exbf-my exbf supposedly "didn't want another relationship"and guess what he went out to find?!-but we are friendly and talk on the ohone, but we dont live in the same house(or even state) so I cant imagine-yuk-well enjoy the chocolate!

Yup-another one of those geeky kids-even though Im decades older now-people used to get in fights as to who would have to pick me to be on their team for gym class...and finally, one day when I finally(for the first time) hit the volleyball over the net, even the other team yelled) It's kind of weird, because even though it's decades later now, the 'angst" of the outsiderenss remains to some degree.I HATE a lot of group activities that have an athletic emphasis, and only feel secure in hiking or other situations if Im with soemone I trust. And I hate competitive sports, and I clearly remember how mean kids can be...and it seems it can take a toll on us.... However, this weekend Im gonna do something I havent done since college(attend a B movie marathon) YEAH-and Im going on my own(how brave)let's hope I can stay awake!!!!!!!! here's to all our slhockathons!!!

OK-have really enjoyed reading the posts here-fellow introverts. I have relatives I love, but I wouldnt really talk to them about something wrong in my life, and a few RL friends, and some friendships I've let slide unfortuantely...once people have babies, kids, teenageres, and time goes so fast...... anyway, now am making an effort to "get out there and do stuff">some of it feels ok,but some of it also, makes me wonder why Ive" wasted" my time and money! So I suppose some of us are just more introverted... I dont know about you, but I like seeing what other people are doing, almost observing, but I dont exactly wanna spend all my time with them, and I think that is really good and normal. quite frankly, I believe that the people who always HAVE to be doing something social are far stranger. The world needs us introverts!!!! And um-thats just my 2cents worth!YMMV

A very long time ago, in a galaxy far across the country I used to work with a guy who wrote not only his full name but his degree on his time sheets!WTF? It was a small office, this was pre HMO billing stuff, and everyone who worked there with the exception of the afmin, had an MSW-so why did he have to write it affter his name? Oh,and BTW- break into everyone's presentation.who ever said I forget any of my grudges:))

aww-i hope the doc is wrong, and it sponaneously goes away- Many decades ago,(before the prom) I once had a tiny tiny zit that erupted into something on the center of my forehead that had to be eh"concealed"with some green "primer"and basically took forever to get away-I can still "see" it in my mind-not pretty and then once upon a time, a flatmate "beautified" me with a relaxing mask that left a scabby thing so gross I wanted to wrap a scrf around my forehead! So-um-do you know if you have an allergy to a specific ingredient?Anyway, I hope it fades quickly and causes you no more grief!

De-crapification in effect.
maproot commented on filigree_shadow's blog entry in Do you have a flag?
WOW-congrats on the decrapifying! That sounds like a terrific solution with the ebay selling and the money making and the clearing out-kinda like a decrapificationlooza! what an event! Moving is always one way of decrapifying, but um I moved and I still have unpacked boxes. In an effort to decrapify,I looked at some posters I hadnt framed, and went to ikea in search of frames, and found the reasons the posters have remained unframed and rolled up in a tube-they werent standard sizes-!!! BTW_I once cleared a house after my aunt had lived there for 35 years-it took a long, long time,so um-do what you can now-and keep us posted! -
well, I am so with you in spirit (on the nonconsumering part) as I was thinking of all the little purchases (coffee etc) but as far as resolutions not to buy anything,I didn't make them, cause um um I bought some felting "stuff BUT_NEW YEARS -we will always use what we have Repeat after me,and may all have an extremely kick-ass year

Oh darkity, I am pining for pumpkin:) even though I have jsut been taken out to my b-day dinner by a friend and her hubby to a "casual, but FINEEEEE restaurant." I'd never been there-it was the kind of restaurant OTHER people get to go to. Yummm-chanterelles,yuuuummm perfectly prepared steak, yummmflan, and did I mention flan- I think we need to invent more occasions for good meals, and it sounds like you have the occasion-and the meal--I am imagining colorful foods in a colorful house-happy pre-turkey day!

that video is working as a great alarm clock for me:) BTW]]]-I only remember seeing fleetwood Mac circa 1971,all bluesy stuff (no witchy woman) and somehow in all the concerts I went to in the subsequent years, don't remember any more Fleetwood Mac! -

that action figure link worked for me-should be enough to get anyone out of an office funk -
Happy homeowning; and just think-YOU can paint the walls any color you like carwoman has "CSI Red" on two of her living room walls after seventeen years of bland beige! You go!

Ok-this all does sound really sweet, but why oh why must you be confined to the basement?

I say ditto the the previous comments. There are always those people from high school/university,and some of them migrate into your office or job, but time will catch up with them , even if not physically; there will be some emotional trauma or distress. In other words, they're not gonna get through this life unscathed even if they are photoshopped. It's often hard to think about all the other changes we go through and can't see on the outside, just because we are judged so often by our appearance. But anyway, I bet your husband doesn't see you the way you look at your self in that post! Once upon a time I spied a photo of self with a big silly happy grin. However I was wearing a Tshirt (that I hadn't tried on before I packed it to take on the trip), and it had a bit too much spandex, so there were very visible rolls on my tummy:) When I mentioned it to someone, he replied that he hadn't even noticed it:) What the photo of you probably shows is that you have a real life now, and aren't afraid to show it. And besides, you probably do look damn great! So there!

Greetings from packrat central. I lived in my previoous house for a long time, so had the opportunity to amass amazing quantities of stuff. Since I live on my own, I can't blame anyone else for this weakness:) When I moved last year, it was to a larger place, and guess what, the piles are just more scattered. I think the goal is to start with a really tiny area (ie-your desk, bathroom shelf, nightstand, etc) By the way,as far as the organizational book goes; does it provide any help to know that I bought a book on overcoming procrastination and haven't read it yet? It fell from the stack of books on nightstand last night:)

There is no end to the silly people, and the humorless people. It is one of the reasons I am glad I do not live in one of those artist "live/work"spaces. I remember one so-called "live/work"space told me I wouldn't be able to have a kiln. WTF!!!!!!!! Onto the silly people at show and artistic events commiseration. I was at a bead shop, getting a check for my beads that had sold that month, when a woman walks in .The proprietor introduces them to the various varieties of goodies, and mentions my still on display work, and how each bead is made individually.(quite nice marketing by the shop owner) So the woman gets an idea that I could make her a specific bead; she picks up a lavender cloisonne bead, and says to me ,could you make me one like this? I make lampwork glass beads with spunky little multicolored dots and random patterns, not cloisonne beads, but perhaps I should take it up>) I mean, why not just buy the cloisonne bead.WTF=where do these people go at night???

One of my favorite weird clothing combos was seen several years ago during the winter in Boston....on the T(the subway) a woman wearing a wool skirt, sweater, fur coat, and sandals-?????????? another combo many years ago spotted in the LAkes district in England-was camping with friends, and about to start climbing on a trail up the mountains-I believe we were attired in standard outdoor gear including rain gear, and a woman I spotted trying to get up a hill was wearing tight capri pants and spike heels:) (but no nike jacket or visor) BTW- I have found my perfect little black dress(YAY) almost painlessly (hate shopping for dresses, and as a reward bought myself a pair of socks I wanted (www.socklady.com) perhaps I can wear these and have someone else comment!

No-you didn't mess up bigtime.I second the too uch on one plate kinda thing. And traveling is kinda hard on a gal too. SO guess what, don't tell your Moml As far as buying a house goes, it is definitely up there on the big stress points, but as far as the details goes, the attorneys, home inspectors, and agents are there for the details-that's what they do. And just think, when you have your own house you can paint the living room and the bedroom and the kitchen whatever damn color you want! (after 17 years of beige wallpaper I now have what was described as a CSI red living room) take care

I really like your replies (having just been at a craft fair in Ohio next to one dollar incense and one dollar earrings. I would like to have said many of those things but would be scared of being hauled away:) Am not much of a silversmith, but was selling my handmade (by me -DUH) laampworked bead jewelry and fused glass. And now, its on to prepare for open studios!

Now that I looked at the ebayMom site I feel really normal too. However, I am on a road trip and have bought more glassmaking supplies, and my car is filled with that and the laundry that needs to be done. As far as packrating goes, I had to clear a house after my aunt died(she'd lived there for 35 years) There were lots of tiny bars of soaps from hotels, and vintage cocktail napkins,as well as every bill and recipt known to humankind.I fear the packrat mentality is genetic and must strive against it.fortunately, what I want on ebay has gone way up in price, so I haven't been able to bid,: I did see someone using one of htose cranking flashlights just the other day to show off their car-coordination is key,but it does seem like a good item:)enjoy your presents!
