The one jar that I have by the bed right now is one of the white ones, so I can only go by that, since I'm low on the red. I kind of like the way that vanilla and berry scents layer with it. I like vanilla with anything and the berry scents go well with the clove. I noticed this layering combo one night when I had a cough and put some on my chest after I had slathered myself in Dark Kiss from B&BW. I thought that it smelled really pretty. That said, I'm thinking in terms of Red Lace, Bordello, Lady Macbeth, Kabuki - you get the picture.

My vote is for Tattered Lace (I've been wearing it a lot lately) and Morocco........I think that I need to track down some Dixie Love Perfume.

This is one of my favorite lavender blends and I collect them. I love to wear them for sleeping and this is just so pretty. I find the lavender to be about mid-level astringent, not too much, but strong and herbal enough to cut through the sweet notes. It is creamy, but not in a really milky sort of way and it does have a cheesecake aspect. I also love the way that the honey blends with the lavender, because lavender honey is one of my favorites. I wish that I had bought backups of this one so that I wouldn't have to use it so sparingly. ETA - I am so glad that I do not detect any graham cracker crust. That would have spoiled it for me.

The Night Hag Visiting The Lapland Witches
portalkat replied to invisible iris's topic in Limited Editions
I love this blend. As others have noted, the pine is heavy at the opening, but as it dries, the sweetness of the resins begins to come forward. This is also when the cypress starts to emerge. This actually stayed with me for hours. I applied just the tiniest bit before I went to bed and the conifer and resiny sweetness was still going strong when I awoke. I am going to get a backup of this, because I do not want to be kicking myself like I did when Stranger in Camp was gone. -
A scent redolent of the crusty exterior of burnt marshmallows. I love this, but I was getting worried from some of the reviews, because some people were getting cinnamon and that is not a favorite scent of mine. I am glad to say that I do not get cinnamon at all and what I do get is exactly what I was hoping for. I get the charred shell of the marshmallow with the sweet gooeyness oozing out. I am so thrilled that I just ordered a backup bottle. Smoky marshmallow is one of my favorite scents.

Who do I email with questions? BPAL/BPTP contact info

Here is the Click 'n' Ship thread. My 10/3 order was just shipped yesterday, so yours should be coming up, but do keep an eye on that thread. The email for customer service is answers@blackphoenixalchemylab.com They generally answer within a day or two. -
Your review for the Seekim is making me think that I need this. I love patchouli and incense and ash, so I must love this. I ordered the Gorobble and Night Hag/Lapland Witches because burnt marshmallows appeal to me and woodsmoke in the latter made it a must have. I swear, I always seem to be drawn to anything with ash, embers and smoke notes. I'm not sure why that is. Maybe it's the incinerator in the backyard when I was growing up in the hills of Los Angeles. Okay, I think that I just dated myself.

This has really changed in the month since I first got it. A month ago it was strong rose and about 30 minutes after that a bit of the sandalwood would start to peek out. Now that it has done some aging, the rose is only strong while it is wet. When it dries, it starts to resemble Saint Foutin de Varailles which I love. I actually love rose scents, but I didn't think that I would be wearing this one a lot. With the aging, it has become more complex, the rose has deepened and even though I can't separate the notes, the whole thing has come together and developed into a beautiful blend. I'm glad to have taken a chance so that I could grab this beauty.

Welcome! You are in luck because Samhain is part of the limited edition Halloween/Autumn update that just went live the other day. Here is a link to the lab's Limited Edition Page and if you scroll down a bit, you will see Samhain 2011. I'm not sure what year your decant is from, but I find them to be fairly similar over the years. They have the same components, but there may be a bit of variation.

I always purchase and use TAL's for their properties and not their scent, but I have tried to pay attention to Leo Stellium so that I could review the scent because it is rather lovely. I get a sort of rose and lemony smell from this. I, too, am thinking some sort of geranium, perhaps lemon or rose geranium or lemon balm. The lemon that I'm getting is not really like the fruit, but maybe verbena, or as I had mentioned before, some sort of scented geranium. There is also a wood note that wafts in and out but I can't really identify it. Okay, I take that back about the lemon, because depending upon how much I apply, the lemon note varies. I just applied some more liberally than I normally do and it is smelling more like the fruit right now. As for the properties, I only received this two days ago, but I got some good job related news, so that was interesting. My life for the past few years has been about reinvention, going from full-time, jeweler/metalsmith for over 20 years to healthcare worker. I have my sun, my moon and 3 other planets in Leo, so Leo Stellium is going to be a very interesting addition to my life.

I have been reading the reviews for Voodoo lately and since I am a patchouli lover, I decided to dig up my imp and test. It seems promising when first applied and I notice that there are no jarring notes and everything seems to be going well. The throw is quite strong and I catch wafts of it every few minutes. I like it quite a bit, however it isn't the dark patchouli scent that I was expecting. I think that it might be the combination of the lime, vanilla and pine that is giving it a brightness that I hadn't expected. I should probably revisit this when I am not in such an Autumn mood. I do like it, but it isn't what I am in the mood for right now. Some of you who like a lighter and brighter patchouli blend might really like this. It is actually very pretty.

This has become my go-to TAL lately. I have noticed that after I apply it, I experience a sense of optimism and lightness. It's a very powerful blend for me and I carry it in my purse so that I have it at all times. I never buy TAL's for their scent, but this does have a light and uplifting smell, sort of a bright herbal sort of rose, or as someone mentioned, rose geranium. It's quite lovely, but I still just wear it for the feelings that it imparts.

Lurid, licentious, and lucrative: pomegranate, tobacco leaf, patchouli, wild berries, pine pitch, oak-aged vanilla, and pink pepper. I got the #2 Trick scent and it is absolutely gorgeous. It's a little spicy and the vanilla oak is so beautiful with the fruit behind it. The pine pitch seems to sweeten up the patchouli and the tobacco leaf and the end result is just incredible. This is the perfect blend of foody, woodsy, fruity & resins all in perfect harmony.

I'm a little confused as well. If you are wanting to use Paypal, you should log into your PP account and send your money to the lab. If you are clicking on the links and ending up a CCNow, you should not use Paypal because the lab ends up getting charged by CCNow and Paypal......or did you mean somethings else?

I,too, backlight it to see the shadow of the oil level.

It was a Lupercalia and you can find the reviews here.

I am also going to add Thalassa the Galapagos Mermaid from the Carnaval Diabolique to Little Bird's recommendations. It is a saltwater aquatic with some faint floral notes in the background.

I'll be wearing Devils'Night '07.

Looking for a BPAL that Resembles a Favorite Perfume
portalkat replied to Ina Garten Davita's topic in Recommendations
I was at the doctor the other day and a nurse walked down the hall, backtracked and said, "Oh, you are wearing my favorite perfume, Angel, right?" I was wearing Banshee Beat! -
Definitely go with Hunger for your orange blossom blend. I love orange blossom and I love sandalwood, but I wear Paramatman for the sandalwood in it and not the orange blossom.
-
I shouldn't think that would be a problem, providing that you sent them the correct amount. I often do not put the price behind each individual item and it has worked out fine.

All Night Long and Horn of Plenty And just so you know, you can access a scent's review page by typing in the scent name under the search function on the blackphoenixalchemylab.com website. Just type the name of the scent into the search bar, find it in the list of scents that the search produces, and then click on its name. Plainjean, thanks for the reply! I'm sorry, I realized later that I was unclear when I posted this: I was hoping to still buy bottles of these two from the Lab itself. Have they been discontinued? They don't seem to be available on the BPAL site anymore. (Although I realize now, looking at the links, that All Night Long is NOT a Bewitching Brew, as I previously had thought, oops!) Thanks for the help, but I guess I'm still looking for more. I'm not sure if I am understanding you correctly, but Horn of Plenty and All Night Long are on the lab's page here. If you scroll down the page to the Conjure Bag section on the Bewitching Brews page, you will see both of them and they are available.
